Mornin' everyone!

Zoe I'll have a blueberry muffin and a cup of dark roast coffee to start the day.

Robby, as always, very nice w*rk on the boxcar!  I saw some cars sitting in the yard here in Geneva yesterday and thought about the cars you weather.  Almost makes me wish i was modeling the modern era....  Almost but not quite. Smile, Wink & Grin

I have to move more wood, finish mowing the lawn one last time for the year (mostly to mulch and bag leaves), and get some other outdoor w*rk done.

Best get a move on, I guess.

Have a great day!

Ulrich if she needs a proper lab experience for her student’s you’re welcome to borrow my house; I’ll leave the laundry basket next to the washer and the window cleaner/paper towels by the door, LOL. Her student’s can clean anything they wish while I’m at work.

You all have a good one ..Jerry

Good afternoon.

I got back earlier than I thought I would. Went to DeRidder for the appointment with my urologist only to find when I arrived there were doctors visits on my Medicaid until January. I wouldn't have minded knowing that sooner because then I could have rescheduled the appointment. It was too late yesterday to check and their office didn't open until after noon today. Drove back to Leesville and stopped in at Wal-Mart to get the second half of my grocery shopping done. After I came back out and loaded the groceries I noticed there was a Honda Odyssey parked to right of me and another one on the left/ These things must be popular because I see them all over the place. It's pretty big when it's next to the average car on the road now but next to my van they looked 2 almonds with a macadamia nut between them. To put it in shortly THEY looked small. And I could see right over both of them. On my out of the parking lot I saw a Ford 350 Superduty with an extended cab. Big is alive and well.

Evening guys

Jerry cox47: good to see you again, I just happened yesterday to wonder if you were alright ro not.

Robby P.

...The only thing about failing the test is that you have to take extra classes, which is fine.  I rather do that than struggle in something.

Yes, Robby, that's what teh placement tests and the " 090" courses are all about. I went back some time ago to college and they dumped me right into calculus. I found I couldn't even remember basic 9th grade algebra and I dropped the course knowing I was gonna have to take refresher courses. But then I got sick and withdrew medically form the whole semester.

Fantstic job on the RRcars again Robby. If I could reasonably do what you do I would weather all my cars too....I will make a mess of them and am now runnign out of "outside time" to use my simple testors aribrush. I can't use it inside as I have no exhaust to exhaust fumes.

WEnt to CVS and forgot to get the good old fashioned sudafed 12 hour. had to go back to get it.

Jeffrey w. - it is a good thing when someone GIVES you somehting instead of TAKING iT! I'll bet your father did it, or your sister.  COnsider it an early xmas present?!

boy RAY...I wish I had one quarter of your energy..you seem always on the go doing somehting. Of course my abilities are greatly diminished. It would take me a month of sundays to stack wood. I used to could do stuff, but now I can't. Sure wish I had some of your energy though! My ohter half has to find time around work to winterize work around here as I jsut can't anymore. *sigh*.

I agree Lee to Ulrich ! I'll even help direct and teach if they do it all for me...starting with a good scrubbing of the floor....

Actually I bought a new Shark Steam mop to help clean the floors, though it is some work to use it, at least for  me. The onlyest thing is that it doesn't really clean the corners well even with their "corner cleaner head".

ANybody know how easy it is to change/replace teh magnetic door seal on a Roper refrigerator? The magnetic seal on the bottom of the refrigerator part door has come loose and off so now we don;t have a good seal. I wonder if it is possible to just change the magentic seal ro do I have to order a whole new door FOr who knows how much? The fridge works fine, just the seal is bad and I would HATE to have to buy a new one! Then agian, it is small, and maybe we could get a bigger one! Q is can we afford it? NO is the answer!

WEll, I should get going.

GOing to have kielbasa/onions/peppers leftovers ona bun tonight! Hmm Hmm delicioso!

HAve a great evening!

 Evening folks!

Flo, just a Beer in a frosted Monon Mug, have left over BBQ waiting for me.

Jerry, nothing put's a smile on my face quicker than a Monon Engine. Big Smile

I have 4 BL 2's in HO scale. Need to get decoders into them.

Charter Guy, boy that was fun. He cannot not find anything wrong to speak of. Said my speed was pretty good at 5.17 upload and 2.16 download speed. Said more than likely I need a new modem. He had modem's in his truck, but no drivers for them? His solution was for me to pull the current modem, take it to the local Charter Offices, exchange it and install it my self?  Yea, that is services. Bang Head All so while he was here (1 hour) I asked him 2 times how it was going, he did not say a word back to me. Grumpy

Vincent I will be packing up the Auto Rack Thursday, would you give me your zip code so I can get the cost of shipping please.

Jeffery sure you don't want the old Tower Computer? I thought it would look pretty cool strap to your Van Dog House! (engine cover) Big Smile

Now on the scanner First it is a Visionerr One Touch 9020 USB scanner. There is all so a lock button on the bottom for shipping which I have engaged. I do not know which power supply it take, I have 3 or 4 laying around. I will check the back of it and see if there are any speck's listed. I all so do not have a extra USB cable for it. If shipping is $10.00, and you don't have a extra cable around another$10.00 and you need a power supply (like I said I will see what I have first) you might be better off buying the Cannon MP 250 printer / scanner for $32.00. I have not used the scan yet, but printing looks pretty good. I found it at Wal Mart if you want to take a look. Say the word and i will get it packed up.

Todd, buddy, friend and pal. Big Smile Sure I cannot not talk you out of your Pearl Car's?

Ulrich For the heck of it I called Caboose Hobbies to see if they take lay a ways, they do not. Grumpy If things go well Friday let me know if I can help. It was amazing how many Brass Engines they have for under $350.00. Guess after your first $500.00 engine, $350.00 sounds like a bargain. Is there anyway to beat the import cost? When I was shipping Dodge Charger parts to Holland I marked them as gifts and Cris did not have to pay import taxes.

 See you all Thursday.

Evenin' folks!

Flo I'll have the Pulled Pork special tonight....  And a cup of decaf to wash it down with.  I'll go sit at the rivit counter for while.

Feels good to sit and relax for a few minutes.  Galaxy, sometimes I wish I had a quarter of the energy I once had.......  I did manage to do more of the lawn before lunch.  Put it away with lots of battery left figuring I would finish it later today.  I also late this afternoon did stack about 3 wheelbarrow loads of firewood and decided I should take a break....  Ended up printing off the materials for Deacons tonight, making a few phone calls and I think fell asleep in my computer chair for a few minutes....  THAT was my day!

Oh!  I am also waiting for a package to be delivered THAT hasn't shown up yet......  Hmmmm.  Wasn't there a thread about THAT out in the main forum lately???   This is a couple items from Staples,  Their website says it should be delivered today.  I have the signed form taped to my door so If i get indesposed, or it hasn't arrived by the time I leave for Deacons It might still get delivered.

Jerry!  Good to see you sir.  Been wondering if you had fallen off the planet?

Welp!  Best get moving again!

Checking the tranny fluid on the van earlier today and got nicked by the radiator fan. No major damage. I'm going to have to see if I can relocate the dipstick tube a bit higher.

Forgot to mention the surgeon took out the sutures yesterday. I am, of course, healing nicely.

There is an even bigger blob on the MRI on the left side of my back  than there was on the right. {he took the tumor out of the right side}

SO he wants me to heal all up on the right side then in 2 months I go see him agian about doing the same thing on the left side of my back.

AS a friend said to me "it seems it never ends with you does it?" {in a nice concerned  way of course}

Another day of stuff taking too long to do that needs to be done before something simple can be completed. If you're lucky, that will make no sense to you. If it does make sense, then you know what I mean.

Jerry- Looks real good! Um, don't tell me you built the body out of a for sale sign. I'll pass out.

Ken- Sorry. I jumped at the chance when the Pearl cars showed up on the bay. That just happens to be a beer that is shipped from my beer distributorship. As soon as I build a place for it. Did I mention Pearl is a tastey, yet disappearing brew? Have you had some? I think the nearest distributor was in Columbia, but that was several years ago. Shoot, it's getting harder to find in Texas anymore. Nice pictures by the way.

Evening all.

Sorry I haven't been in a whole lot lately, but I've been busy. I don't even know why, but I have been.

Got the observation done tonight. During the rest of the long weekend, I'll continue to paint (and maybe begin decaling) the diner.

I also got a lot of work done on a new website I've been working on. It's the Society of Passenger Rail Enthusiasts, for another forum of which I am an admin. I got a few more rosters put up, and there's more on the way. Once I get those up, maybe I could start on getting some more info on the railroads. Please check it out and let me know what you think:
http://passengerrail.webs.com/

Well, it's getting late, so I gotta head out. Hopefully I'll be able to talk tomorrow.

Nice! I like the color choices. What are you using for a site builder? And here's a reccomendation for a link to include. You and others wil find it quite handy:

There's a few things he's missing, but not much!

Ken: Ooh! I like the 2-8-2. One of the Bluelines I guess? Been wondering about getting a Monon steamer for scale Class 1 ops, or Class 2 at least.

Good Morning,

a ra*ny day, with lots of Umbrella and Storm. Way too warm as well for the season, with temps "hovering" at 50+ F. Not my kind of weather.

Zoe, just a coffee, as I have to get going in a few moments.

I need to take my car to the garage for some minor repairs, which will amount to a pretty amount of $$$ in total. I really don´t like that, but it is all those parts which are not covered by the warranty I have on it.

Ken - you´d like to watch long trains snake through some pretty scenery, don´t you? Well, I have a layout idea in my mind, which I will try to put on paper the next days. I will be using Atlas Code 83 track and # 6 switches.

Jerry - that´s a good looking loco!

I must be going - CUL

As my car repair takes a little longer at the garage, I had them take me home. It´ll be ready at 3 pm, so I have some extra spare time Smile

Ken - I did fiddle around with some ideas for a layout in your 19´ by 20´ space. Here is what I came up with:

Minimum radius is 36"

This layout offers ample opportunity to let your big locos parade through some nice scenery, but is has a lot of operation potential with that yard.

I call it Ken´s Tehachapi Layout

Hope you like it!

Good Morning,

Galaxy, I glued mine back in place on the old refrigerator.  Kids spilled water and the seal fell off the bottom of the door.  I used clamps and rain gutter adhesive (silver stuff in a tube) $2 at Home Depot or Lowes.  You have to put enough tape on the bottom of the refrigerator so the magnetic seal doesn’t stick and rip the gasket off before the glue dries.  You can also buy a less stinky adhesive from an appliance store for $10 a tube.

Robby, again another outstanding job on that boxcar.

The NOCH GrasMaster arrived yesterday and I took it to the club layout for a trial run.  WOW even the rivet counters liked the finished product.  I plan on stopping at LHS and pick up some more static grass and doing some work on the home layout.  I bought more mold making compound and I’m working up some original scrap and box loads for the layout.  If they turn out well I may start casting my own line of loads and sell them at the train shows in 2011.

High of 49F today, 40F Friday with rain showers, 38F Saturday with Lake Effect Snow showers estimated 1” of accumulation by the end of the day, then 46F Sunday.

49 and rainy here. I'll try to drop in later and retry a post when I calm down (I know I should have cut and pasted from somewhere else but I'm not sure that would have helped in this instance and this is the first time I've had the entire post just vanish).   CUL, J.R.

The problem is the magnet has separated from and come out of the and the "vinyl holder" for the magnet has shreded like. The two have come apart, not just the whole assemblage separated from the door. It leaves a gap between the door and the outside on the very bottom of the door no less, hard to get to.In order to work on it, the freezer door on top must also come off. Mold and mildew grows there at the open spot that i periodically have to use the shark hand held steamer to get it off... EEEWWW. I am gonna look up online ot see what a new refer door costs, if I can find parts the refer is at least 12 years old... Manufactured 05/98. The gasket part is $65 and change plus S&H and tax and such. {NY state requires sales tax be collected on internet sales}. The front door panel is $208. and change for that we could almost by a half a whole new refer! I just don't know how to change the entire seal gasket without ruining it.

That's still more energy than I have RAY. I often have grandios ideas that require huge amounts of energy but wouldn't have the stamina or backless-strain-painfree to do so. I'd have to stack 5-10 pieces of wood, sit and take a 5-10 min breather, then rinse and repeat until my back could do no more then go lie down to rest the aching back. I go back in two monhts to have the other side of my back done-the other tumor the MRI shows is there removed. SO I will be out for the count for awhile.

Jeffrey W...I have a single-sheet-passthrough{no flatbed scanner on top just the single sheet passthrough } 4 in one printer/fax/single sheet scanner/copier That you may be interested in, It just wasn't compatible with our new computer system. Interested????? It works with windows xp and just wouldn't work well wiht our new computer though no idea why...has the software with it oo. PM conversate me if you are interested. Hope that nick doesn't get infected, I know infections and diabetes don't go together well. Take care of it please!

WEll, I guess I better go now.

Stop over to my "waiting for delivery" thread {on page two right now} and see what you see please!

Good rainy morning.

Thanks for the comments on the boxcar, hopefully it will bring me some $$$$$$.  Jessica is wondering if we have the right prices on these cars.  I have them from $30 to $75.  Only two cars are at $75.   I have several for $50.  I rather have a mix of prices than just "sky high" prices.   Also she was wanting to put the cars in a same price range on the table, and I rather have it mixed.   I guess we will see what works,  The show is in a week and a half, and I still have a little bit left to do.

Good Morning! Rather chilly out. Coffee please. Thank you.

Lee- Been thinking about the grass master. I like the way it makes things look. It’ll be a bit before I need one though should I decide to.

Ulrich- I can’t believe it. Well, if it happened to me I would. Of all times to get a delay in the repair, a day before the big interview.

Forgot what else I was gonna say so I guess I’ll just shag on out of here. Lotsa stuff to do before w**k at 5.

Y’all have a Great Day now ya hear?!!!

 Mourning AZ!

Flo, I am on the run this mourning so a English Muffin with ham and cheese and a large Diet Dew to go.

Todd I trade you a New Year One Trunk Matt and a set of 70 valve covers for the Pearl's Big Smile I am sort of kidding (jump on it in a heart beat if he says yes).Whistling I don't think I have ever had Pear Beer, I just like the color of the cars, and the fact they are Beer cars. I do have a Blatz Beer Car, it was my Dad's Brew, only thing nastier is Stag Beer. Ick! I don't rate PBR much higher either.Whistling

Ulrich First thanks for offering to help with the new plans. Later today I need to do a scale drawing of the garage (I am thinking it is wider that 20 foot) so you know what we are working with. All so the buildings and business I have like the Coal Mine and Grain Elevator. Plus a Big Engine Repair Shop, has 6 stalls and will sallow my Big Boy and still has room.

What I have to have, or not worth building.

1 4 Main lines ( I want to run 4 trains and not worry about them hitting each other.

2 One or two of the mains elevated so I can have bridges. I am thinking between 4 to 6 inches in height.

3 Room to park 4 to 6 trains with around 20 50 foot cars.

4 Small town Passenger Station that will hold 2 E's and 10 short passenger cars.

5 My mine and grain elevator

6 36 down to 26 inch turns of the mains.

Would be nice but not have to have's.

1 Room for my engine house and parking for around 30 cars and 10 engines

 2 Room for small town

3 Few team track off the mains

 Boy I want a lot don't I. Big Smile

Here is one I was playing with today. Remember it is nothing more than a doddle. I am open to anything at this point.

This one is based on the storage room being taken out. You will understand better when I get the drawing of the garage and door locations drawing done.

Got to do the running, see you all later.

Good morning. It's 51 and sunny. The high will be 67. I have the heater on low this morning just to take the chill off. We have cooler weather coming in so I have to go down to my parent's place later and drain the pool pump. I don't know of anything else outside that requires my attention so maybe I'll have a few hours to rub together so I can work on rerouting the layout wiring. Seems like every time I'm about to start something else comes up. Oh yeah, there is one more outside job. Put new antifreeze in the van. Should take about 10 minutes.

Todd, I would watch for a sale on the Grass Master; $265.00 each is pretty steep, I got mine at $132.00 on sale through Micro-Mark. My next big purchase is an over the top shop creeper.  Right now they are $200+ but I hope to find one at Harbor Town Freight a little cheaper than that.

Robby, I’ve been making various covered loads, stacked lumber, and crates.   The scrap loads I’ve been making and painting have been “kit bashed” from out of production scrap loads.  I’ll be making my own positives to create a negative mold.  My current skill level allows me to make some very detailed copies but to sell them I need to have my own creations to copy.  I will also need to find some casting rubber that I can buy in bulk.  Once I get established I can turnout 25 to 50 castings every 45 minutes.  My girlfriend likes painting them and offered to run the table at the shows.

Galaxy, I think you might find in the long run a new or “new to you” refrigerator will be cheaper than a door replacement.  I would look around and see what you come up with.

Hey guys

Not much going on today. Found something odd about my car last night and this morning. Going over speed bumps kicks my "low coolant" light on, but it'll go off when the front end is off the bump. Guess I'm borderlining on low on the fluid?

I'm kicking around the idea of doing a modular layout based on the WI&M (Washington, Idaho, and Montana) when it was under BN ownership. I think if I use several 2x8 modules I could make it work; but getting 24" radiuses and maintianing the look of Idaho might be a bit tricky.

Rob, looking good as usual.

Ulrich, sorry to hear your car is in disrepair. Just curious, is this a car you just got and is it a newer car? (galaxy seems to be having fits with his new KIA)

Ken, I model in the late 70s to mid 80s so open and closed sides (the other autorack the offer) are fine for me. Some of the totally enclosed ones starting appearing in the mid 80s. DRGW is fine for me too since it interchanged and had some joint trackage with the BN. One of the hobby shops around here does that. Although he'll leave them at MSRP for several years (heck, I'd bet he still has that DCC ready BN GP20 he got in 2006 for $125, I can get a sound equiped one from trainworld for $5 more).

Vincent

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....

2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.

GOod morning all

GOt a few errands to run Automobile and will cut out soon to do so before walmat gets busy. I like the early AM shopping at Wallyword as it is easier on me. Fewer peoples.Person

But it is Storm here so need teh Umbrella though harder to carry umbrella and cane and a bag or two of stuff will have to use a cart Thumbs Down...that will superceed the cane use except to walk to the store.

I almost always have to use a cart to get my stuff out to the van. Unless it weighs 10 pounds or less I can't balance the load very well.
