Attention!! For those of you who may have read my response to G and the use of the term prototypical. Yes me use that word. Let me clarify. THAT is my goal. However, If I have something now, I will run it and change it out later as funds become available. OR if I like something real well, like cattle cars, well I freelance. Instant prototypical. So need I say more.

You may all go back to your regularly planned weekend.

Vincent, the CSRY is a regional line, not a shortline. The oldest locos I'll probably be running are MAYBE some F7s and hopefully at some point I'll have an rs3 on the roster. The GP9 could be used, but I'd rather sell it and use the money for some benchwork.

As mentioned earlier, THE TEXAS RANGERS ARE ALCS CHAMPS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good morning. It's 58 and partly cloudy. The high will be 84 and it will be mostly cloudy. The chance for rain today is zero, zip, nada, bopkiss.

After doing a lot of work on my van getting the fuel system straight I've come to the conclusion that my nephew knows next to nothing about working on a vehicle that uses a simple carburetor. He knows the fuel injected systems like the back of his hand but a carb seems to have left him out in the wilderness. The idle and mix settings looked like they had been set by a committee of kindergarten students and the few vacuum lines that are required seemed to go everywhere but where they were supposed to go. It's no wonder he couldn't get it started without priming the heck out of it. It's a wonder it ran at all as it was sucking air from multiple locations. I'm not saying it was easy for me to sort out though. It was somewhat like putting together a complex jigsaw puzzle without knowing what it's supposed to look like. I had to get out my old auto repair manuals and 'go back to school' as it were. It's been many years since I worked on a carburetor myself let alone something that has no electronics. It's been like stepping back in time to a time when things were much simpler and easier to work on. I have it to the point now that I can pump the gas pedal once and it will start on the first crank every time and requires no warm-up. It wasn;t easy for to do as I could only work on it when I had the energy to do so. Even then my work time was only an hour or two. I just about have the bugs worked out of the electrical system and things that worked on a hit-and-miss basis now work as they were intended to. One nice thing is I can get under it without using a jack and there's lots of space to work in. Can't say that for today's cars where you have to be a contortionist with bones of rubber and fingers like limp noodles. For some recreation yesterday I tore down a Bachamnn GP30 to find the source of an Athearn-like growl it was making. The problem was quickly found and as quickly fixed. Somehow the motor had come loose and the vibration it was setting up against the frame was the source of the noise. Two pieces of electrical tape wedged between the motor and the frame took care of the problem. If only my other problems were that easy to fix.

Almost noon here guys!

Let me be clear on this issue: couplers are NOT an issue in the Nscale dilemma. The GG1 has knuckles, the new Santa Fe older time passenger cars purchased this summer have knuckles and the new PRR commuter cars have knuckles. ALL have knuckle couplers.

The issue is: 1} should we just run the Santa Fe {yellow with green and red trim} behind the GG1,

2} should we re-decal the Santa Fe to PRR,

or 3} should I pony up the $34 {x 3=$102 + $8.16 tax + $10-12 s&h for a total of $122.16} to buy the more correct PRR commuter cars and be done with it?If I wait to long they will all be gone and who knows when they appear agian. there were 3 different models availble but now 2 are gone.

Dots - Sign pondering      Dots - Sign still pondering    Dots - Sign  pondering again.

The cheap easy way is to run the santa fes, but I think prototypical {there's that word Todd} would be to have the PRR commuters.

Dots - Sign still pondering   Dots - Sign

Well doing some laundry so I don't feel so useless after the cortisone injections in my back yesterday which I swear make it worse for a day or two or three or four.

Other half working til 1 then I think we go nappy-poos with the puddys.

I already cleaned up the kitchen should run the diswasher too. It is a rol away and we don't trust it to run while we are out or sleeping. let me go start that now...

I know...I know....coffee should taste like coffee. How can you live in Seattle and drink plain coffee though? My favorite drink has coffee in it, just not very much! Geeked  I'll have the same...Grande Vanilla Latte', non-fat whip please. Oh, and I saw on the special board today is country fried steak and eggs? I'm in! It's Saturday, might as well splurge.

Does anyone have any experience with Sergent Engineering couplers? I've done a little reading, and they look impressive. I saw that they are NOT compatible with Kadee, and the other popular brands. I like the look, and wouldn't mind outfitting my stock with them. However, I wonder if they function well, and if it's worth the effort.

Off to my club meeting guys, catch you later. Going to try and enjoy this cliche' cloudy, rainy Seattle day.

hmmm Country fried steak and eggs - sounds good I'll have some too please. And a nice Iced tea too.

Got the mighty and majestic Dodge Ram 50 running again - I'm starting to really dislike it too. Apparently they fit the fuel pump before they fit the manifold and carb so it doesn't clear when being removed (well it does nowWhistling). New pump went on with a bit of fiddling and hooked up ok so there you go. Changed the oil and filter (only had 500 miles on it but was pitch black so out it went. Now to do some paper sorting and then off to Lowes for masonite and back home.

Galaxy - I unearthed some surplus stuff that might help you with your passenger consist. Drop me an E-mail and we'll see if it does.

I've tried Sergent couplers and didn't like them. They are incompatible with any other knuckle coupler and as yet there is no cost effective way to uncouple them remotely. The only remote uncoupler I've seen for them is very expensive and from what I can see requires that it be placed in a hole beneath the track and it apparently requires wiring. It also requires that the cars to be uncoupled be stopped in an exact location to be precisely aligned with the device or it could conceivably knock the car off the track. So if you can't get to it with the uncoupling wand you won't be able to uncouple anything that's out of reach. Also, Sergent couplers are not good for use on passenger cars as there's no way to uncouple them without using the 0-5-0 to lift one coupler above the other.

 Afternoon!!!!!

I got the basement cleaned up.   I also got the "chalk board" ready for the show.  We decided to go with it, instead of the "dry erase board".  I turned out real good.  Once we get the logo on it I will show some pictures.  I did put some trim around it, but I did get a boo boo Crying.   I had my finger to close to the nail gun, and got pricked.   Just on the side of my finger thou, but it could have been worse!!!!

The owner of AIMS weathering powders is sending me 65 of the mini-kits and a dozen of the large 8 piece kits.  He's also giving me some powders for the demonstrations.   I also just ordered 1,500 business cards for $35, and that's not a bad deal!!!   It's starting to come along!!

I will pop back in later.

Flo, just a Beer please, been a rough day at Cuda Ken's.

Tiff, the American Eskimo is going down hill again. Crying Last night at 1:30 AM I got up to go to the rest room, found Tiff sprawled out on the Kitchen Floor like a bear skin rug and she could not get up. I picked her up and took her to the bedroom and she did walk to where she likes to sleep.

This mourning she was all sprawled out again and did not get up when I came in. Picked her up and placed her on her feet, walked very badly and went into the hallway. As soon as she hit the new floor, she fell down again. Crying I carried her to the yard and she walked but again badly and took care of number 1. Brought back in and as soon as i but her down on the new floor she fell. Just cannot keep her legs under her self.

Figures I finally install a new floor in her twilight years and she cannot walk on it. Sue gave Tiff half of a Remadale (spell check), her breakfast (which she ate laying down) and we called the Vet.

Vet said she would have never guessed that Tiff would be 16 years old this Dec 20th. She has good circulation, pules in her rear legs and still has motor control of them. She did find that Tiff now has a heart mummer on a scale of 1 to 6 she has a 4. No heart med's at this time. Got some more Remadale for her and she is resting.

I carried her out to the yard at 2:30 PM and she seemed better. I hope she took care of business as she does not like me to watch and I walked away.  She came in under her own steam, in fact ran just a little. Got her snack for going out in the family room, ate it in the kitchen and then went back to the bedroom on her own.

I am hoping she was just having a bad day, but I all so know with her being 15 years and 10 months old it only a matter of time. All we can hope for now is she can get around and be  comfortable and passes in her sleep when it is her time. I pray I don't have to have her put down.

Tiff, Sonya and my self in happier days.

Evenin' folks!

Flo, I'll have a bowl of chicken soup and a decaf.  You will find me sitting in the back booth just relaxing.....

Ken, THAT is hard news about your beautiful old girl.  Hopefully the meds will keep her comfortable for a while longer.  16 is a good long life for that sized dog, but I know how hard it is to have to look forward to the inevitable.............  I'll keep you, Tiff, and your family in my prayers.

Robby.....  Got a little close to your w*rk huh?  Hope it heals up quick.

Well (deep subject), I had a very long, very tiring, and very good, fun day today!  All the clinics went over well.  We actually got done on time....  The elections took all of about 10 minutes...  I have been railroaded again!Laugh  I will continue as the Superintendent of the Division for another 2 years, and the great news is I now have a full slate of officers (Asst' Superintendent, Secretary, and Treasurer).  The nominations for Super went like... "I now open floor for nominations for su...., I nominate Ray for Superintend..... Second, I move we close nominations"!  say it as fast as you can..... anyway the membership appears happy with where we are trying to bring the organization locally.

Oh, I brought the Project in for Merit Judging and also entered it in the Popular Choice Model Contest.  There were only 4 entries only, but I took first place.  (The others were excellent BTW.)  After the members had gone down stairs to see the Rochester Club's Layout, 2 of our MMRs got to work judging my diorama while I disappeared to do some packing of equipment for a while.  I figured it would do well as both of the judges had eyed it during the meet and were grinning from ear to ear.....  It passed and was given a Merit Award.  Score was 110 points (you have to earn a minimum of 87.5 pts. out of 125 total possible - and nobody gets 125......).  I was very pleased to say the least.  I guess what I like best about the NMRA AP program is the challenges for excellence and the learning involved in doing the Certificates.  All I have left to do for the Civil Certificate is complete the paperwork, and have one of the judges (our AP Chair) come to the house to certify the rest of the requirements have been completed and sign off on the paperwork.

Man am I tired!  Feels good though!

Robby, glad that the show is really coming together!

Ken, that bites man. We've had a dog pass in his sleep and one we had to put down. It's always easier when they pass on their own way, although it's an almost hollow, but not quite, comfort knowing that they'll be in much less pain after they've been put down.

Well, I have quite the quandary on my hands. the PACKERS play on SNF tomorrow night, but we're planning on going tot eh fair. what to do, what to do? There's also the Martinsville race. Dern it!

The next door neighbor is gone. He got all his stuff loaded up in a 14 foot U-Haul and left out this evening. Nobody's sad to see him go. My niece has plans to buy the land and dispose of the trailer. She can combine the land with what she has and build a house on it.

No. It's 40 years old and has irreparable problems. Beside the utilities are way more than I can afford.

Hey guys

Managed to find the plug for the computer for my car. Came up with codes for "o2 Sensor sensor circuit indicates system lean (right side)" and "Fuel Pump circuit failure." I'm guessing that an o2 sensor on the left side is bad (I still have the new ones I had bought for the 97 I had before) but never heard of a "Fuel Pump circuit failure" before. I mean the gas gauge works and the fuel pump obviously works or I wouldn't be driving it. I'm looking to see what the latter means

Ken, sorry to hear about the old girl. Hopefully she can get around comfortable until the inevitable happens.

Robby, got to close eh? well if it's just a *** and not gushing (like my finger was last week) it should be okay. Cool you got all those freebie weathering powders though.

JR, Would you happen to know the octane requirements for a ford 302 (a 5.0 HO for my 1994 GT)? Is it Plus or Premium?

Vincent

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....

2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.

The computer could be reading the fuel pump relay as approaching failure.

Good evening ....

I'll have some hot apple cider, please.

Ken ... That's sad about the dog's aging.

JR ... Are you getting to the ppoint where you are building your new layoput. I still miss seeing photos of the layout you had before your fire. If you still have old pictures, feel free to post them again. By the way; I see Con-Cor will have a model of the 1930's New Haven Comet. I wonder if you'd be interested.

I've bee nenjoyinhg the Upstate New York hospitality where the diner has been parked for October. Any thoughts or suggestions for November?

Today, I worked briefly (not enough) on my large bakery building. I recall the Pepperidge Farm bakery building on the Burlington near where I grew up.

Where are all of those MIA's ????????? Keith? PC? Bama? Several Others?

We'll be  traveking agin in a few days to Alabama. My mother down there is 91.

A neice is getting married Saturday in AL. Those young people keep doing stuff like that.

Good Morning,

another wet and stormy day - ideal for MRRing, if I had any...

Janie, fried, crunchy bacon, scrmbled eggs, buttered toast, a tall glass of OJ and a ton of coffee, please. I´ll stay here at the RC, watching the yard switcher to do its job.

Ken - I am sorry to hear about Tiff. Nearly 16 years is a long time, but it still hurts a lot to see a companero/companera go. That´s why Petra and I decided not to have a dog any more. We had to put our little beagle lady "Carrot" down, when she was 12. She is still being missed - after 15 years now.

Ray - congratulation on achieving the merit award - I had little doubts that you wouldn´t be making it!

Robby  - seems as if you are all set for that show now. I know it will be a great success for our "weather man" here in the Diner!

Jeff - too bad I can´t be around to see the mechanic´s face when he wants to hook your car up to his computer Laugh. Today´s kids don´t know how to set the timing of the ignition or adjust a carburetor - it is all plug and pray now. OTOH, my old VW Beetle made at best 20 mpg, whereas my Renault - with 3 times the power and nearly double the weight, gets about 34 miles out of a gallon...

In a week´s time, we will be moving the Diner to a new location. I was pondering to suggest the Harz Mountains in Germany, as we could observe a lot of steam action in that region. But November weather is not really nice over here, so I´d recommend a warmer and nicer location. How about the tracks adjacent to

The Southern Arizona Transportation Museum

in Tucson, AZ?

Have a good one, Y´ all!

 Good morning.

Yeah that was a close call on my finger.   You should have seen Jessica's face, and honestly my face Surprise.

I wish the weathering powders were free, but he is giving me a GREAT deal on them!!!!   I still have two cars to do, and hope to get a couple more done before the show.   So between the cars and powders, I should have enough.

Not much planned today, other than watch the Steelers vs. Dolphins.

 Have a good morning.

 Mourning New York

 Flo, just coffee please

Did not sleep worth a darn last night for some reason. Feel like I have been beaten with a Ball-peen hammer.

Thank you for all the kind words and prayers for Tiff. This mourning she seems to be more of her Old self. Heard her up last night walking in the kitchen and she made it back to the bedroom OK. This mourning she been out under her own power, got her treat and is handing the floor pretty good.

Robby P Would you mine posting a picture of what $30.00 of weathering would get a person?

Think I am going to try to take a nap.

GOod morning FROM NY!

I will have 2 eggs, two sausage, two bacon, two french toast and a Coffee, refilled often.

Well I got some chores done yesterday before my back gave out. will do some more today.

WHat I should really do is work on getting the train room cleaned some so I can get in there at least. and the kitchen..it is Sunday adn garbage goes out monday nite and I have been meaning to throw some stuff out there too.

WEll Robby P...yeah what Ken said..what does $30 weathering get a person? I guess that has been answered by your photos of your work! I hope your boo boo is healing nicely keep triple antibiotic or neosporin on it and a bandaid it will heal faster. I won't embarrass you again by kissing it- that should have made it better already! FOrget your face when you did it I wonder what type of words came out of your face when you did it!

Jeffrey...too bad he didn't have a  better trailer than yours..I was hoping for a better bigger one for you! aw, nuts!

PACKER...aren't those durn &%@# codes and equally @&%( sensors here there and everywhere a pain? I would suspect your fuel pump has some problems and is wearing out like Jeffrey said, though not failed YET. Bettter you get em fixed now than later on the roadside dead as a doornail.

GMTRacing..check our conversation again! Thank You very muchly!

WEll I noticed last evening the site s l o w e d d o w n again, much to my dislike! they must have it set to run maintenace or backup or updates or something then! I wish they would change that to 3 am EST to do all that !!!

WEll.

Toodles guys

have agreat day!

Good  Sunday morning, Diners!  Just a JR Regular please Zoe, don't want to detract from G's mrr funds!Smile, Wink & Grin Parts of this were started days ago, but I'm caught up to Page 44 now!

Happy to report both Kato RDCs are now running smoothly at slow speed from Step 1 of 128 on up. However, they stop with a dead jerk when power is cut, and I can't get them to really creep on step one, just run slowly.

Ray:

How the heck can they be Anti-ques already???
THAT struck me when our daughter was in High School (in the 80s) and we had one of those "Class visit" days. There in the corner of her home room was a History exhibit with model planes from WW2 era-I remember the prototypes from my childhood. History already, 25 years ago! Arghhh!  The switch stand is WAY neat - and assuming the rest of the module is the same standard, those tracks would be a sight to see!Bow
Spent quite a bit of time freeing up each of the turnout points (and using many, many of those words...).  I added a good amount of powdered graphite after removing several little pieces of ballast THAT were in the wrong places.
....Have you tried putting a small amount of clipper oil (I use a paint brush dedicated for this) on the stock and closure rails and along the throw arm inside the turnout before applying the ballast and dilute glue? I saw that tip in some scenicing article a time ago, and find it works a treat. Doesn't do away with manually freeing up the points while the glue dries (OK it probably would - but I'm too fussy to just take that chance), but I've seldom had a turnout glue shut on me from ballast glue. Edit  Congrats on the first-of-four (if that's not too Borg LOL), and the Merit Award. If no-one gets 125, you dropped what, 5 points maybe?  Well deserved Bow

Flip:

KEN - in MIAMI Beach the hair was DYED blue. NOT A WIG.
...You haven't met our daughter - hair is black now (that never seems to be glossy colour as a dye does it?) but she spent the summer  TURQIOSE!   We're talking a 42 year old mother of three here! Yikes!

On Check Engine lights, on our 2003 Ventura it comes on intermittently.  Right now it's off, but last week it was on for a few days.  Kinda the way the rear window wiper works or doesn't.  When that quits, I have to slam the rear door down hard so that the wiper blade jerks over a bit towards its normal rest position. Repeated goes at that ( and it has to be driven a bit between each slam) and it finally gets to where it's meant to park. Then it will respond to the on off switch again. Bang Head   The only big snag with the Check light is that you can't get the vehicle past the road test (every 2 years here now) with the light on, and there's no telling if it will be on  come next May.  "Fixing" an "on" Check Light can cost ?????? who knows what.

Joe:  Sorry to hear about your Grandfather.  You and the family are in my prayers.Angel

Lee:  Sounds like a great layout that mmr has.  I'm wondering where in Nova Scotia he figures a nickel processing plant - unless it's a shopping Mall Clown

Ulrich:

TTFN (= that´s that for now?)
Not quite, it's a Brit thing Ta Ta for now.  The weather guessers here are thinking much as yours about this coming winter.  Sorry to hear about your father - ( and the update after your visit; heli-lift to a 3 hour wait? Makes no kind of sense - don't they phone ahead?) - of course he's in our prayers.Angel..as is your friend's son, Galaxy.  Hope this weekend sees some real sleep time for you.   I like your Hartz Mountain suggestion, even if the November weather turns nasty - we could make the place virtually weather proof, and the views would be worth the trouble. If you get to arrange the move, why not go for it?Thumbs Up

Morgan: Take a look at the end portion of your Diner Car. Looks kinda spooky to me - does it suggest a name?

On changing Rapidos to knuckle, the Rapidos usually just twist out - that's the easy part. The knuckle (generally Micro-Trains  MT 9s with adapters [Set 1130] or similar). The kit has to be put together for each coupler, and any burrs, flash etc (usually not much if any) dealt with. Graphite powder is very messy at this size level, so a soft pencil is better. The coupler shank is split horizontally in two pieces that pivot on the uncoupling pin. They have to be held together while the whole coupler arm is inserted into the small metal casting that holds a smaller than usual coupler spring ("holds" is not really the word, because it doesn't! LOL "houses" may be more the idea). Then this little gigger is inserted, while keeping the split coupler shank together, into the coupler pocket vacated what seems like hours ago by the Rapido.  Not for the faint of heart or vision. Oh, and if everything is not exactly true in line with the car centre line, guess what happens? Please don't ask me how I know this! Blindfold

Welcome Kyle, BTW.  I think Diner patron Sue lives out your way - is that right SueTodd explained to you

That's what Vinnie's for there in the corner.
...thought you might like to meet him He's treated with a wee bit more respect than your average Maitre D' might be because of his "connections"

Ken:  Hate those Gremlins that "only" seem to come out when visitors approach!  I've had it seriously explained to me by a non-supernaturalistly inclined mrr that all the faults are actually there, but we tend to overlook them and compensate without really thinking about it. (doesn't explain your 4 hours trouble free running today htough, does it?) On the short at the turnout he would have asked - Have you checked the turnout clearances and the wheel sets of the offending (or is that victim?) loco with a NMRA gauge? Are the wheels RP 25?...and so it goes. What this mrr was trying to persuade me to believe was that every incident had a natural cause....good luck with THAT

Sorry that Tiff is having problems.  It's a hopeless sort of feeling isn't it, when they can't tell us what's wrong, or where it may hurt.  Our Poppy died last July at 16 (our best guess, probably about 3 when we rescued her 13 years ago) May we all go peacefully in our sleep as she did. She was the only dog we had that died of natural causes.

Paul: Great to see you in again (...and Don too!). In addition to Garry's family questions, here's a couple more.  How did the Pecans do this year; and is the oil company behaving itself? Smile, Wink & Grin

Sawyer: Good luck selling the Atlas GP9  (and finding time to watch the recorded game).  I've been trying to locate a sill unit for one of those (coupler pocket smashed off some years ago - and Atlas is on PB with replacements.  What's PB? Perpetual Backorder Bang Head)....if anyone has an Atlas (China 1997) GP9 (or 7, I'm not picky) surplus, especially if it's non-working, shoot me a PM please.

Galaxy:  Hope your back is calming down some.  On your dilemma - it sounds to me, just reading between the lines of your pondering so far, that you are really thinking you should go with the PRR cars. The financing  would be my dilemma - but the PRR and protoToddical is what I hear you saying.

run the diswasher too. It is a rol away and we don't trust it to run while we are out or sleeping
We have a roll away as a built in.  We were concerned for a while, the way you are. Then we came to the conclusion that if something, aka a leak, were to happen the mess would probably not be worse if we weren't there. By the time we had detected a problem, and released the unit from being "built in" the flood would have run its course! (depending when in the cycle the incident occurred, I guess)  Anyway, we just let it do its thing now.

Jeff:  Speaking of uncoupling remotely, did you ever come across an in-track device for uncoupling Horn Hooks?  I had one years ago on my last HO layout.  Very simple, two fine spring wires running parallel to the track engage the "horns" and squeeze them together, thus releasing the "hooks" - kinda elegant, but I only ever saw the one. Maybe they're a common item elsewhere, but not where we've ever lived as mmrs.  Sounds like your niece has a great plan - how would she be for a neighbour?

Robby: Sounds like you have things well in hand for the show - great deal on the cards, and may you need them ALL for the show!!!   Hope the finger heals quickly.

This afternoon Sheet Harbour's new  "Streetscaping" (fancy sidewalks) Stimulus Money project is officially opened. "Dignitaries" will be on hand, and the Chamber of Commerce have asked me to do the blessing.  It's a wonderful day weather-wise, so the aforementioned digs will have a spectacular drive down the shore to get here.

We're having lunch in the Harbour before hand, so I'd better get ready. TTFN.

Mornin' everyone!

Zoe, I'll have the #2 special, over easy on the eggs, bacon, home fries, and a double order of the sourdough bread toast with real butter to go along with my dark roast coffee ina R&GV RR mug!  Thank you Ma'am!

Ken, glad to hear the little girl is doing a bit better today.  I do hate to see a pet in pain.  I had trouble sleeping last night myself.  Couldn't get comfortable and had a shooting pain in my Left foot most of the night.  About every 20 seconds, it felt like someone was stabbing my foot with an ice pick!  Have no isea what was causing it.....  appears better now THAT I am up and around.

Thank you folks for your kind words about the Merit Award.  There is no way a couple years ago I would have the skills or knowledge to create the project and have it pass.  I have learned an awful lot from all you folks here at this site.....  I look at what I was doing a few years back and think, "What was I thinking..."

Oh, Mornin' Bill!  Mornin' DG!

Should have a truck load of firewood arriving early this afternoon, so I know what I will be doing this week.  (Stacking firewood)  Best get myself in gear.

[edit]  Der, I see you snuck in while I was finishing my coffee.  I'll give the clipper oil a try when I ballast the turnouts at the top of Bare Mountain.

Robby, very nice as always!!!  You almost make me wish I modeled a more modern time period....  Almost....

BTW, for those of you who are not familiar with how the Merit Award Judging is done in the NMRA.  There is a matrix sheet used to help the judges award points.  For instance the 40 points that can be awarded for "Construction" is a combination of the complexity/difficulty and the Quality/Workmanship involved.  My score in the category might have been higher if I had chosen to do a Dual Gauge Turnout, a Double Crossover, Double Slip Switch, or 3 way turnout....  I didn't have the jigs to create any of those, nor the time to do it without the jigs.....  So I probably received the absolute highest score possible with the ones I did.  It still has to pass muster at the Region and National level, BTW

Later!
