Good rainy morning. Bunch of rain coming, and got some flood happening.
Well Its saturday, and that normally means...........Clean the house day. Well Probably not MRR this morning. I do have to go to the post office this morning. I did want to go to Jo Ann Fabrics. We have about 8 coupons to use. From 40-50% off. I just don't wanna go in the rain. Plus I wouldn't know what to buy.
Jeff.......Hope you get better. You had a lot of people worried!

Good Morning--
Chloe, I think I'll have the same as Ulrich is having except make my coffee a chocolate raspberry flavoured coffee ------ just for comparison purposes only
Welp. another early morning with barrels of rain and lotsa wind from the northeast. Our winds are coming at us up to 70kmh this morning and then going to 80kmh this afternoon. Just plain ol' yuck
Got to drag some ol' flip chart easel thingee up to the university --- hopefully no wind will pick it up and turn it into a kite---oh well
Chloe---I'll be at the RC for now--have a good one

Good Morning,
we just start into a dull and wet day with nothing much to do either than to restock our food supply. The young folks were just like a swarm of locusts, eating their way through what Petra had stashed away...

Jeff - I am so glad to see you´re back. Man, was I worried! And still I am! My continue!
Joe - sounds as if your diggely daggety teacher is on something a little stronger than just coffee .
The post man brought my dollar book yesterday, so I will do a bit of reading on British railway modelling practices later in the day.
Have a good weekend!,
Good Evening, I'll take a RBF, hold the Diggely Daggety please...
JEFF: Hey, good to see you back in here, but also sorry to hear of the latest complication.
ns3010if someone were to say something about (*GASP*) brush painting, I'd just say THAT it's an example of getting excellent results with a brush. No visible strokes, not close to being overly thick, perfect.
JOE: Correct!
SAWYER (and others): I thought I saw where the Nationwide Series cars are 'sposed to look more like the Mustang, et al. Of course with the Cup cars, the only way to tell what it's 'sposed to be is by the decals they stick on it. It's a shame they can't have REAL Mustangs, Impalas, etc. on the track...like they used to back in the "see it win on Sunday, buy one on Monday" days of NASCAR.
Whelp, a RARE weekend is in-store for me... THAT doesn't have me going anywhere for anything. "I've got no deeds to do, no promises to keep..." "...all is grooooooooooveeeeeeeeeeeeee."

Evening Folks!
Flo just a decafe for me. I'll go sit with the others at the Rivet Counter.
I upgraded to the latest Empire Express track program this afternoon and have spent most of the late afternoon and learning to use some of the new features. It has been improved quite a bit from the version I have. One example is that it now uses the entire Mac Color picker (Millions of colors available) and you can now click on a piece of track and match the color with another piece quickly and easily. Has a lot more track options, etc. as well.
So I have been updating my old drawings of the track to match what is actually there. A gentle man from Syracuse is stopping by the house on Sunday to take a look at helping me start some operations using TT and TO. he will need some acuarate printouts of the two rooms to take with him to put some ideas together.
Jeffrey!!!! Good to see you back sir! Not so good to hear about the hospitalization, infection, and foot. Hope the brace arrives soon and helps you be mobile. You are in my prayers!
'Tis about time to call it a night I think, so have a good one!

jeffrey-wimberly Hey, I'm back. I've been in the hospital the last three days because of a lymph infection in upper right thigh. They had me on some pretty mean antibiotics to knock it down. Yesterday they put in a new iv port so I can continue the antibiotic iv regimen at home. To say that I hurt is an understatement but it'll pass soon enough. The word on my periodic blackouts is that they are more or less normal for someone with my neurological problems. The good things is that I know when one is coming on and I have plenty of time to prepare for it.

Good to see you back in here. The Charcot foot brace--how long will it take you to get that?
Had a busy day today. Got home in all kinds a rain and wind---jus' wonderful----
Chloe, I'll have a decafe coffee and a donut please----I'll be at the RC for a bit
PackerSawyer, I didn't believe that when I saw it, but sure enough it's true. Only if the Camaro and Supra were in instead of the Imapla and Camry.

Evening ya'll
Started the paint prep on my car. Unfortunately I ran out of 400 grit sandpaper about halfway through. Still have a lot of work to do on it.
Jeff, Good to see you back! Sucks about the ankle but hopefully things will get better.

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....
2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.
Lax has been going good the last few days, I guess. Yesterday, the coach posted the teams. I didn't make varsity, but I'm a JV captain, so I'm pretty pumped about THAT.Had the first scrimmage today. In the pouring rain. Joy. We got murdered, and no one really wanted to play today, so whatever.
Had a pretty good day today. Started out with double writing, which, as always, sucked. Just cause it's writing (commonly known to us as Gail). Then I had Chem, and our teacher was OFF THE WALL! She was INSANE! She apparently had a billion cups of coffee and was crazier than normal, which was pretty funny. She said something about needing the "diggely daggety" so THAT the Smartboard would work, and then started calling everything by THAT. She was writing an equation on the board and said "XXX grams of Diggely Daggety"? Yeah, I know. And then she went on about flying out to London today to watch a soccer game, but being back for Monday (Yes, this woman is crazy). And then she told us stories (she ALWAYS gets off topic) about how on long plane rides (she's from Brazil, and flies there a few times a year), she brings periodic tables and crayons for little kids to color, just to keep them from being annoying. Like I said, she's freakning insane. But THAT's why I love the class so much. She's crazy, but THAT's what makes her so funny and nice. You guys have probably heard enough for now, so I'll continue with the second crazy part of my day (Algebra) later...
Chris, if someone were to say something about (*GASP*) brush painting, I'd just say THAT it's an example of getting excellent results with a brush. No visible strokes, not close to being overly thick, perfect.
Thanks Todd!
Haven't seen Jeff since Monday, here, or on another forum where he posts daily. Hopefully, he's just having internet problems, and not something more serious...
Thanks Jim! The lettering will be white, which is the main reason why I don't have the decals. And actually, the color is"THAT other railroad" green. Ironically, this was painted for "THAT other railroad" before my repaint...
I see there was talk of conducting music. Right now, in band, we're doing this one song that I think is called Military Suite in F (composed by Gustav Holst, so we just know it as the Holst). In the fourth movement (Fantasia on the Dargason) there's this one part where part of the band is in 6/8, while another part is in 3/4, so it's pretty confusing...
Sam, I hear ya on the braking/stopping points at stations. If you brake too early and need to release to stop at the right place, the slack action runs out, which is really uncomfortable when you're riding towards the rear of the train, where the most movement is. And then if you brake too late and need to brake harder, the rear cars run into the forward cars. So either way it's pretty uncomfortable. I had one of those engineers back in the summer, and I'll just say it wasn't one of the most relaxing rides...
Well, I'm caught up to page 30, but I'll be back in later.

Hello all
Jeff - It's good to see you back. You had a lot of people here concerned. I hope your feeling better soon.
Paul - I've been taping the laundry room trying to get ready for paint. The wife finally picked a color. Only problem is she came back from the paint store with six other colors. Now she wants me to paint the kids room and our bedroom too! At this rate I'll never get the layout moved. Oh, did I ever mention I hate to paint!
Oh by the way, what is this "RBF" that everyone orders?
Here's what I can tell you about the status of my right ankle. The Charcot moved into the joint and pretty much destroyed it. This causes my foot to roll inward no matter how much I try to stop it. This was something that was going to happen whether I was on it or not. The disease just destroys bone, period, and it doesn't matter if there's weight on it or not. It would have happened just as quickly. So now I need to get a special boot brace built that will hold the ankle rigidly in place so it can't move. I'm using a cobbled together rig right now that was made from one of my old orthopedic boots. It hurts but I can get around somewhat slowly. I have crutches but they are of no use inside as there's no room to maneuver and a wheel chair is absolutely out of the question. There's barely room in here for my little computer chair an dit's about half the size. I't going to get a bit interesting as I figure out a way to overcome this latest setback.
Evening all.
Hey Ryan! Haven't seen ya in a while.
I gots me about two days and 5 pages of catchin' up to do. I'll be in the back.
JimRCGMOOkay, Chef Ryan - if you're going to be away so long, you know your really should bring some yummies with you, right? What've you been up to while you were away? Is the Cajun Chef site doing so well that you haven't time, or have you been hired on with 3DPlanIt for their support division? Good to see you in the Diner again, whatever kept you away!

Hey Jim, Chris, Todd, Garry, and Johnboy. thanks for asking and for all the shout outs too! Been very busy in my neck of the woods with both work and the foodie site, however, my modeling and train watching activity has just about come to a screeching halt. Not selling much spices lately, but the site has seen an increase in traffic, especially the weeks leading up to Mardi Gras, now it has leveled off and slowed down again. Lately I have been baking a lot of fresh breads like this one, Raisin Bread.
I do get the occasional question here or there for 3rd PlanIt but all my work for MRH has been completed as well. I may do a short clinic on one technique, but that's about it there too.
Hope you all are doing well and nice to finally catch up some with you all. I still get emails from several folks who keep me posted, so thank you all for that too, you know who you are! ;-)

PackerSawyer, I actually forgot about the Viper. That probably could stand a chance against an F430, GT, or Z06. Throw a GT-R in that mix for good measure since I saw one of those yesterday.

oh duh, I forgot about that too. do they make it anymore though?
Speaking of dodge ford and chevy when the nationwide series gets its COT we'll see Mustangs and Challengers racing. Chevy is stickin with their derned Impala and ain't gonna swap to the Camaro as far as I know. as to toyota, they'll be racing the Camry
Coffee in a SOGGY SOUTHERN mug, please.
***Der, all I can tell you is those apple trees are the Life-Like Scene Master trees. I don't know if they are made in (N) or not. On another note, it looks like an (HO) prison crew is preparing to patch some cracks in the paved road leading up to the church on the wife's layout soon. When that happens, I'll post a pic of it. Oh, that derailment pic is wicked!
***Johnboy said: [I have punched a hole through the end wall in the train room into a long storage room where I intend to put in a four track staging yard.} Excellent idea! Would love to have holes all through the house with tracks from the kitchen into the bedroom. Would also have tracks leading up to my studio with tanker cars full of coffee if it wasn't for the 45% grade.
***Jeffrey, good to hear you're back home. Sorry for your troubles though.
A number of thunder-boomers here today. YeeHaw

PackerSam, I'll take Robby's suggestion with the car (and a few others) to use them for practice cars. As for the engines, the AHM is a GP18 (some later GP9s looked like early GP18s, but I think the 18s had flat-top fans), the Tyco is a GP20, and the SF and CN units are both C-liners. The Soo hopper is an ore car.
Thanks for the help! I just couldn't find the engines on the webiste for loco rosters...
Seems my poppop had some fun doing custom paint and decals, and that was the late 80's early 90's (unfortunately he passed away in '91, about two weeks before we were supposed to go to his mountain home and operate the layout he had there. I never got to see it, my uncles went up shortly after he passed and dismantled it before I had a chance to get to it... There weren't any photos either... DRAT!)
hcc25rl, I, too, would like to know about your layout!
Todd- Thanks for clearing up the issue about photos for me! It had me wondering...
Jeff is in my prayers as well. I am sure it is just the power! He'll be back before we know it!

May He bless you, guide you, and keep you safe on your journey through life!

Well I miss the guy.. Lord knows.. I go missing for almost 2 weeks.. and I think Robby..
might have said.. something.. like.. "Yeah~ I was wondering what happened to you..lol.
Jeff.. You're in our hearts and prayers.

You all have a good one..Jerry
Mornin' everyone!
Zoe I'll have an English Muffin with Strawberry preserves and a cup of Dark Roast Coffee this morning if you please. I'll be in the front booth for a bit.
Currently 47°F this morning here in the Finger Lakes with a few rain showers. Supposed to be just cloudy this afternoon with a high in the low 50s.
Todd you are right it was Chester with the limp..... Had the right one in my mind but the wrong name. THAT was a few years ago........ Toe is doing better so far this morning. Hopefully I am on the mend.
Ulrich the cake sure looked good! Glad you enjoyed having the family visit. Hope whatever you are coming down with is minor. I'll have to bring in this next time:
JohnBoy be careful punching holes in walls to put staging on the other side. I did THAT once and it ended up costing me $6,000. Decided to expand the whole layout and built another room in the basement for it......
I see Barry just popped in. Close the door will ya! Yer lettin' all the heat in.
Time to get moving I think. Catch you all later, and where the heck is Jeff?!?
Good Mid morning--
mmmm--got the thermometer out on our back deck reading 7C right now. Not bad at all Although we are expecting some rain tonight, tomorrow, tomorrow night, Sunday----oh---and lotsa wind But, hey, by Tuesday---back to sunshine
Did all kinds of virus scanning this morning---nuthin So, for the nonce, I will be somewhat a happy camper
Ulrich: I like the looks of that cake! I can see why it disappeared so fast---
Oh welp. I've gots to be getting ready for work/classes and stuff----
Chloe, I'll just have a coffee and some toast with jam please--I'll be at the RC for a bit
Good morning all. Super Duper Breakfast please and double my usual coffee thank you. I'm a gonna need it. Fish fry today. All day event for me and a few others, very few, for a dinner served from 5til 7. Not to mention 4 hours cleanup tomorrow ( I guess I just did). Oh well I could use the extra credit to get into Heaven.
Johnboy- Say, Masters Program. You must be proud. Congratulations to him.
Ulrich- Yes that cake looks wonderful. If it tasted anything at all like it looks, I see why it's gone.
I think I'll head down to the train room and see if I can do some more bench work before going to unload truck, and then pick up the fish.
Have a Great Day!!!

Good morning. It was raining, but it has stopped. Some heavy rain tonight thou.
Well I have another job interview this morning 11:30am. Its at a car-wash place. I worked at one in NC, and made some VERY nice tips. I don't know if I will keep both jobs, or what. Maybe keep them both, and get some bills paid. Hopefully I can get this one, past experience might help me today.
Got the guys hoppers yesterday. I will start on them this morning. That's extra money also. Just seems like when you get ahead, more bills come in!!!
Hopefully Jeff is ok. I'm sure it was a storm that has knocked out power. The south has had some big ones the last few days.
Good Morning All,
43F and rain later today. Still organizing car and trailer pickups and catching up shop w..k so not much time for anything but a regular to go. Got the front brakes assembled and on the Focus last night, now to drop the rear subframe and rework the back half (needs new bushings as well). I'll try to get a start on all that tonight and see if I can spend some quality time on the project tomorrow. Wish we'd hear from Jeff, and yes he's in our prayers as well. CUL, J.R.
I just took the young folks to the train station and peace and quiet is now back with us
Chloe, I´ll have a chamomile tea - I seem to be coming down with something
I see, that some of the prodigal sons have returned to be with us again - a hearty back from this side of the Big Pond! And a hearty welcome to you too, Hcc25rl - you have found the right place to discuss shelf layouts and other things as well!
Seems, as if we have a new song going on in here, so who´s got a guitar?

Sorry, there is not even a crumb left of the cake, the young generation just ploughed through it in no time!
I promised to share at least a picture and here it is:
It does not only look delicious - it was!
I will be working on the wiring plan for my layout, as it will be DC operated. Still not a big thing, but soldering is not really my cup of tea.
I am deeply worried about Jeff. He is in my .
Have a good day!
Paul and Ryan, is it ever great to see you to back in the diner, hope all is well with you and your families
You fellas showed up just in the nick of time, we are about to send out a search party for the "Spray Can Rembrandt" of Sundown, La. and also for OJ. Ed down Mexico way.. They have been quite scarce in the Diner lately.
I have punched a hole through the end wall in the train room into a long storage room where I intend to put in a four track staging yard. In that room I also have a large overhead cupboard that holds the bulk of my excess rolling stock. Older equipment and some that don't fit my era are in a 6ft x3ft. free standing closet in the hallway outside this room.
We are leaving tomorrow for a week in Spokane Wa. to visit our youngest son, who has just been accepted into a Masters Program in Psycology at Eastern Washington University.
My wife is going to take her laptop so maybe I'll be able to check in a couple of times.
Think we will probably run into snow between Fernie, BC and Bonner's Ferry, Idaho, so we will be taking my GMC 4x4 and leave the wifes HHR at home this time.
Hope to get away before lunch tomorrow, but we have some errands to run before we get out of here, so had better get to bed and get some rest.
I have some goodies waiting for me at my son's as I ordered some items from Micro-Mark and saved a little shipping cost by sending them to Spokane. Of course I will go and visit/shop at Jim Smith's Trains "Sunset Junction" while I am there. A Real fine fellow if you are ever in the area.
Hope you guys find our lost boys and that they are in good to great condition.
Prayers for all in need. Sleep well friends.
Johnboy out...................for now.

We have met the enemy, and he is us............ (Pogo)
Good evening. Long night at the restaurant tonight. Just got home.
Sam- No problem with the pictures. I just mis understood what Ray was saying. We can post pictures about RR stuff all we really want. To certain extent just like any other thread. They don't want us to be like WPF of course but pictures of RR stuff is fine. Where we had an issue was, there was a lot of non-RR stuff being posted there for a while and they asked us to keep it to a minimum. They said we still could, just please not all the time. The occasional picture of Grandchildren or family stuff, food etc is ok, just keep it to a minimum. The mods were pretty cool about it and we do what they ask.
Ryan- Hey! Long time no see. Whatcha been up too?
Spare the rod spoil the child. I received my fair share of whoopin's when I was a kid ( I think they still owe me a few) but I was never abused. NEVER! There is a big difference between punishing and beating. Actually probably very small really. Trust me I know. Unfortunately, some don't stop. And yes the type that really get up in arms are the ones who are lucky enough to not have had a disruptive child, (I have a niece that way. Veryvery good and inteklligent child. She's 22 now.) or their kids are holy terrors. Like the ones we read about at the train shows running and knocking people over.
Jim- What extra time?
Hcc25rl- Hola! Please tell us about your shelf layout. And to the diner!
DerJohn- Eyeglass sprayer! Excellent suggestion! Thanks!
Aztec- Glad you're over the sinus infection. It's getting to be the weather here when I'm about due to enjoy one myself. Give me a week or two and I'll be dealing with that for 3 to 5 weeks.
Now Ray- Are you testing our ages? I would say Festus walked like he had been on a mule too long or he had his britches starched a bit heavy. Chester, (before Festus) he had the limp. Funny you should bring it up. Mom, when I was real little, thought I had developed some sort of problem because I started walking with a gimp. She later found out I was just imitating Chester. She still tells the story.
OK it's late and I have to get in the groove for our second fish fry to morrow. OH! Almost forgot. This morning I did some more work on the layout and I hope to get about an hour, maybe two in tomorrow before I have to get going. Hopefully by Monday enough will change to be worth photoing for Show-n-Tell Monday.
Some time I'm almost tempted to just post what I type without the corrections. It would take a whole lot less time to type a post. Of course it would make very little sense
Prayers for those in need.
