Morning.  Well, its a cold, windy, rainy day down here in Bama.  Gotta go into w**k in about an hour and then its off to fix the Dodge truck that I've been getting to run better over the last week.  Finally will get paid for it too, which will be nice.

JR, I tested the lift pump pressure and volume, along with testing the pressure and volume of the injection pump, they both spec'd out, so no replacement for them.  I also fixed the issue with the TPS/APPS on the truck by putting it back into proper adjustment, now I've just got to get the MAP sensor replaced along with the blower motor and blower motor resistor (burned out).

I'll take a RBF and a double bacon cheese burger with an order of fries.  Not much else planned for today except for the w**k thing.  Welp, I guess I'll climb into the window booth and see what rolls by until its time to leave.

Y'all eat up, I've got TOPS

Good morning. It's 43 and sunny. The high will be in the upper 50's and it will be partly cloudy. A welcome change from the rain we had all day yesterday.

Finally I get a day with no appointments, no places to be, no government type papers to file anymore. Nothing to do but put my feet up, watch some TV, maybe work on the layout and get some rest. My eyes still hurt a little from the dilation yesterday but my vision is clear. The wound vac is is working just as intended. The catch basin on it is 2/5 filled with liquid drawn off from the wound. A Home Health nurse will be coming out tomorrow to change it and change the dressing and vacuum point on my foot.

Good afternoon, Zoe - I'll have a BLT and a RBF, please. Thanks!

Uh Fireman216/TIm, are you sure your first name's not 'Clark'? Might want to hold off on the brewskis before you get up on that ladder, so you don't get disgusted with the (new) lights and just cut them out again..Oops Wink

Barry, good to hear your report from your Dr. was okay (I'll believe that until I hear otherwise on those other tests). Sorry I missed about your 'round about'...Smile,Wink, & Grin

Good to see you're getting started again on your layout, Vincent. Keep it up there!Yeah!! And maybe soon you'll have the car up and at 'em! Thumbs Up

Ray, I learned the lesson about watching out for making fun of one's elders. Back a ways, my headmaster (my last two years were a military school) had ear hair and a bunch of my classmates (not to his face) made some fun of that. So what do I have to keep trimming back now? You guessed it! Hey, good to hear you ENT Dr. roto-rooted everything for you. Wink

JR - thanks for the link!

Sawyer, sorry to hear you're not yet done with molar equations...Sigh Good luck next year in chemistry (in advance).

Rob, I'm guessing your BiPAP tech/nurse wasn't open to any suggestions for lowering the pressure enough to keep your eyes in their sockets, eh?

Robby - you're probably right about that guy not listing that job. Unfortunate thing likely may be that though his mother thought she was sheltering him by not having him get a job, he probably would keep them longer if she'd let him. I know I was glad that I started w**king at 16 - though it was good that it was at the family business, so I didn't immediately get reamed if I made mistakes. Got corrected, though!

DerJohn, your trip didn't sound like any picnic (summer or winter)! Wow!! Hopefully you won't have any more tire problems for a long while. Funny story there about PMTB. Laugh

Calif.Tom - haven't you shown your great-nephew Mike a good demonstration of some articulateds? You have to train some of these "young'uns" (pun intended).... Hope you see some awesome 'non-articulateds' on your trip up the mountain...Whistling

Jeff, good to hear your peepers are fine. Thumbs Up I have my eye Doc's apptmt. set in January, on one of my days off that week. Hope he doesn't dilate my eyes that time. Kinda sucks when I'm the one to drive myself home (as you no doubt have had to do). Good to hear you're (finally!) gonna get a real day off, without appointments and trips.Big Smile

PC, I was picturing the Santa in your poem as kinda resembling you, man. Cool Hmmm, do you have a red leather jacket?

Keith, on your Electrofrogs vs. Insulfrogs question - I think the shorter answer is, Insulfrogs if you'll be doing DCC, Electrofrogs if DC (because of the power routing), but I could be wrong on that. Somebody, correct me please!

Todd, best wishes on safe travel to all your stops for the family stuff on Christmas. Give Missy lots of attention for a day or two before you head out, and very soon after you get back , and she may forgive you a little sooner...Whistling AngelAngel for your Mom.

After reading about everyone's cold weather, I'm almost feeling guilty for our weather in the 40's (F) the past couple of days. (I said almost..) Tonight (late) we might see a little dusting of that sn*w stuff, but it isn't expected to stick on the ground.

Jerry, does it seem odd to you ( does to me) that the people we're paying (or have paid) premiums to for our medical services are the very ones we have to argue with to get those services? (Okay, better step down off the soapbox now before I get riled up...)

Got my H1N1 shot this morning. This time, unlike the usual times in the past, I planned ahead and wore short sleeve shirt, so the nurse could get to my arm easily. Have to do the 'W' thing in a little, and then on-call tonight and I'm off for the weekend (YAY!!). Last night's wasn't too bad, except for getting awakened earlier than I wanted to (5:30-ish) this morning with an informational/procedural question from our crisis line. So I just stayed up.

Email today tells me some MRR stuff I ordered from DMW (Dallas Model Works) shipped. We'll see how long until that shows up, I think it's a gas/oil truck, hotbox detector, pot belly stove (for a general store, near the front), and a mail crane (like Ray showed us a while back).

I'll grab a seat by the stove here and toast myself a little bit.

Blessings and prayers,

Jim in Cape GIrardeau

Hello everybody ...

I've had plenty of non-model-railroad-stuff (NMRS) going on. I reviewed some of the recent posts and its good to see everybody sharing what's going on. Some good. Some not so good.

Enjoyed the moalr mass humor. You bet your sweet mass I did.

Vincent ... Technical drafting should be a great field now with the CAD technology. I'm still a T-square and tiangle guy myself, but I suspect there are plenty of needs for that skill. Railroad companies have a lot of that for equipment, locomotives, cars, track, and buldings. If you wanted to look into being with railroads, you may find somthing there. I think young people starting their careers should consider railroads.

Sawyer ... You were talking about chemistry, and it is another good field. I remember my chemistry classes. I always felt I was out of my element.

Ray .. I hope your ears are now OK. ... Huh? .. What did you say? ... Speak up!

Jeff ... I hope that foot situation clears up and heels OK.

My WPF is a picture in the steel mill, and it has my Baldwin diesel switchers that are now DCC equipped with front and rear headlights working. The flash on the camera made it hard to notice the headlights were lighted.

Early evening folks!!...Just a quick cup of coffee for me in a NYC mug. All xmas lights are repaired and back in order. Funny how when you start to go fix them...poof...some start to work again.. They are rebelling against me for sure. I enjoy it though...If anyone has ever seen the movie Christmas with the Kranks...that is what my street looks like. It's a competition amongst my neighbors for displays. No big Frostys on the roofs though. At least everyone does it tastefully and does not go overboard. Took the day off from work today for a trip to the Dr. MRI shows a torn rotator cuff in my right shoulder. The only good I can see from this surgery is that I will have some time off to get some layout work done..(after initial healing of course). Gotta run...talk to ya all later!!...Tim

Good Evening From BrokenPipeVille!!Grumpy

Evenin', Chloe, I'll have a hot fudge sundae and a Santa Fe mug of decaf, please 'n' thank you!

Garry - grrrrooooaaannnn! It must be the lack of MRR'ing stuff to do that causes that... Smile,Wink, & Grin

The only good I can see from this surgery is that I will have some time off to get some layout work done..(after initial healing of course).

Now, Tim, you realize at first you won't be able to lift any articulated steamers that you have, right? (Over the weight restriction, likely). I was thinking, we could call you Tim the Fireman (NTBCW Tim the Toolman on TV...Whistling

Trainman Sam - thank you, and back atcha! Yeah, we'll keep you on the AngelAngel list. Though it sounds like you're doing well with the 'w' thing. Thumbs Up

Barry, with eating all those greasy things there, are you planning on heating your home's hot water tonight with, uh... gas heat? Oops Hope your city people get the pipes replaced SOON!

I finally figured out where I'd seen the idea of using aluminum tubing (from the local R/C HS), cutting into appropriate length pieces and making a wood bracing around about 40-60 of them for a gondola load): it was in a downloadable PDF spread from Pelle Søeberg's "Done in One Day". That book looks like a good one - maybe I can put the book on daughter and SIL's Christmas list for me...Smile Between that, Robby's (rusty) sheet metal load for bulkhead/flat cars, and that wood load that I saw on Jeff's 'new' bulkhead car, I might be able to get some mini-projects done tomorrow! Yeah!! Oh yeah, I also downloaded the 'corrugated boxes' PDF file that's here on the MR site (under projects, I think), and will be trying to get variations of it for bicycle boxes and other carton stuff for a baggage cart or a station platform near the freight door.

Currently it's 42 F/ 6 C (with a windchill of 39 F/ 4 C) in Cape Girardeau, with no sign of the rain/sn*w/slush/whatever that the weatherguessers are talking about us getting later tonight. I'm okay with that! Think I'll sit at the RC and start on my sundae while I watch Barry wolf down those greaseburgers. Wow!!, look at him go - amazing!Shock

Blessings and prayers,

Jim in Cape Girardeau

Sawyer ... You were talking about chemistry, and it is another good field. I remember my chemistry classes. I always felt I was out of my element.

After this though, and probably next year, I don't think I want to go into the chemistry field. Do know I want to go into engineering of some kind.

Thanks Jim.

Spent my time this afternoon scratchbuilding the furniture factory. I'm thinking of naming it King Furniture.

No problem, Jeff! Smile At the top of the page, pull down under Articles --> (and select) Modeling Projects. On that page the link to the PDFs is about 2nd or 3rd, I think (near the top of those listed, anyway). There are some other good articles on that page. Or, if you just want the PDFs, go directly here.

The PDFs consist of one with the directions for gluing them together (flaps and such), and the other includes two boxes - one each of a washing machine and of a mattress, and each pair is on the PDF file in Oversized scale, Home Oriented scale, and iNvisible scale, so most everybody in the Diner can get themselves some. I'm going to open the PDF in a graphics program I have and modify the images for additional types of boxes (the original article showed bicycle boxes, and others in addition to the two kinds on the PDF). If I could find dimensions for typical items that would ship in the 1950's (my RR's era), it would help. Any RC's out there who can help on that? Smile,Wink, & Grin I need to get one of those HO scale rulers, I've decided. Caculators will w**k for this, but a ruler would help more, I believe.

Just got a call from Vernon Home Health. They'll be out to do my wound care tomorrow at 11 am. I took some time today to remove the frames from the windows of the bobber cabooses so it at least now appears that the windows were opened BEFORE certain arms were thrust through and it improved their appearance a bit.

Good evening everyone. I’ll have a nice cuppa tea, and a Devon split please Chloe. I was reminded of Devon splits on Thusdday at the checkout at Canadian Tire. I’d taken in a Lawtons Drug Store shopping bag that was orange in colour. That raised a comment fro the checkout clerk, which went down a road about pronunciation of “Orange” – which led to the “what part of England are you from?” thing – and she was from Devon – which took us at once to clotted cream…and so it goes. For those unfamiliar with Devon splits take a boo. Regrettably I’ve been unable to source fresh clotted cream this side of the Pond, and the pasteurized stuff doesn’t taste quite as good. Strawberry jam is usual, but mundane, quince or gooseberry would be interesting.  Keith:
Concerning Electrofrog verses insulfrog.. isn't it just better to run electrofrogs in the yard?  Especially if I am planning on .. I guess they are called 'blunt' ends.. to hold maybe Diesels and Engines inside the mountain?  Just looking at those dead zones of the plastic.. it is a bit much.  I can see some Mallet 2-8-8-2 .. running slowly.. only seeing it getting stuck there.  Any of you care to add your 2 Cents?  Those Electrofrogs look more realistic too.~  Keith
To add to CapeJim’s analysis, by throwing in a bit of what I’ve learned. Yes the Electros look better. However, if you take a continuity meter to both sides of either rail through an insulfrog you will see that the rail runs buried below the plastic.  I have one or two electrofrogs on my layout, and they give me some problems with some locos in DCC. The locos tend to be six axel diesels by Kato, and even more frustratingly, not every one of those! I don’t know enough about either the turnouts or the locos or DCC to know what the cause is. The symptoms generally are sparking as in a short (making my stationary decoder controlling polarity for two reverse loops on the other side of the layout chatter!) and consequent stalling of the offending loco. So l-s-s, I use insulfrogs generally, and don’t have that set of problems. As to the looks, I just learn to live with it! They’re not that bad anyway, especially if you weather the turnouts to look greasy (I would imagine, I’ve yet to do that to mine on this layout, but did on my last HO one.) My 2 cents, which is what you asked for LOL. Sawyer: King furniture eh? From the look of that two track facility, they must make beds – King sized that is! LOL. CapeJim: Thaks for the PDF link – those cartons in N will be not only doable, but pretty much era-generic…unless that chap who Jeff likes to bait turns up! No mrr today – totally taken up with our daughter’s place in Truro, and catching up on what I missed here while there. Tomorrow, after the shopping and seeing to cleaning the woodstove and getting in next week’s wood, maybe there will be time for ballasting in the freight yard….breaking news, the COO has said that the inside decorations go up tomorrow afternoon – Ok, so after that then! For now, early bed perhaps. So I’ll say and God Bless. Prayers continuing for all in need of healing, comfort, prosperity and peace.Angel

Evening all from FoggyCal:

Just got back from the snow.  Had a great time.  And in case you who are USED to snow think I've lost it completely, please remember that out here in DroughtStrickenCal, we haven't HAD much of the stuff the past three years.

Actually, it was a kind of fun day.  A buddy of mine and I went up Interstate 80 from here to Truckee (actually, Verdi, NV) just on a kind of whim.  He's an old college buddy and we used to do a lot of skiing together back when we were roommates.   So he drove the Audi and I watched for trains.  He's not a real train buff, but he thinks my 'hobby' is kinda/sorta fascinating (he's retired from NASA, so you know where his mind is--Outer Space--in more ways than one, LOL!).

Saw about four trains between Newcastle and Soda Springs--one of them being a double-stacker that couldn't get through the tunnels before until UP 'notched' them.  Stopped on Donner Pass, elevation 7220'--about 6 feet of snow on the ground-- and watched some snowboarders on Boreal Ridge, sipped coffee as we discussed whether 'Snowboarding' is really a 'Sport' as opposed to Skiing.  I thought it was, but Mike's a REAL Purist.  Of course, neither of us has ever tried it--Heck, I can hardly even SKI anymore, it's been so long--so the argument kind of faded.

Stopped in Truckee--elevation 5820'-- at the old SP station, which is now a Tourist Center.  About 4 feet of snow on the ground.   We kind of walked around.  No trains.  Saw a UP trackman, I asked him if it was okay to take pictures in case a train came by.  He grinned and said that he didn't care.  I asked him if he knew when a train was due, he just stared at me and said, "Mister, UP dispatches their trains from Omaha, Nebraska.  Hell, NOBODY around here knows when a train is due."

This tickled the heck out of Mike, who informed me that at NASA, at least they were all at the LAUNCH pad when one was taking off.

No trains.  We got in the car and headed down the Truckee River Canyon toward Verdi.  The highway is pretty close to the tracks most of the way.   Lots of snow.  The Truckee River Canyon is one of the coldest spots in California at almost ANY time of the year, the outside temperature on the car read 34 degrees, and this was about one in the afternoon.  Lots of black ice on the bridges.  Saw a couple of spin-outs.  Nothing disasterous, but enough to make Mike mutter, "Flat-landers."

"Mike, WE'RE Flat-landers, now,"  I mentioned.  He shrugged.  "Not in Spirit."

Saw a couple of westbound freights, one containing nothing but enclosed auto racks, the other a double-stacker.  Right behind each other by about a mile.   I mused about the congestion that might be taking place later on Donner Pass, since UP hasn't relaid the second track yet, and both east and westbound traffic has to use the 2-1/2 mile tunnel to go through from Truckee to Norden.  I also mused about the entire UP trackage in California being dispatched from Omaha, Nebraska.

Ended up in Verdi, Nevada, just across the state line.  We stopped in a casino at the state line and made our yearly donation.  We both played $10.00 on 25-cent slots.  We're such SERIOUS gamblers, LOL!

Heading back, we stopped in at Truckee again and had cheeseburgers at this incredible diner that was moved out to here from Pittsburgh, PA.  I mean, a REAL diner!   And strawberry shakes.  Yah, strawberry shakes with the temperature outside being a rousing hot 34 degrees.  Wow!  But the food was GREAT!

Didn't see any trains coming back, but we sure saw a lot of snow for this time of year.  Anything above 3,000 feet in the mountains is guaranteed a White Christmas.

Oh, and would you believe?  I left the Memory Card for the camera stuck in the computer back here!   I'll tell ya, being 70 ain't for sissies!

But it was a great day.   Though Mike was chuckling and shaking his head as he left the house about an hour ago.

So tomorrow I'll go out and work on the railroad.  I keep looking at those Buttes.  You know, I could do a Snow Scene on the high peaks---Whistling  I mean, the Yuba River Sub is set in late October, after all.  I could 'fudge' a little, don't you think? Confused

Best to all, prayers to those in need.

Tom Big Smile

Evening all. Chloe, I'll take some hot chocolate, thanks.

Still don't have access to my computer. I'm hoping for Monday, hopefully even sooner...

Finally got my christmas list done, and my mom ordered it today. I got an airbrush (FINALLY!!!!!!Thumbs Up), some paints, decal paper, tank car, centerbeam, covered hopper, and a heavyweight observation (the beginnings of a business train). The observation was tacked on at the end, since I have 3 gondolas (for MOW) and a can of Glosscote on backorder.
As for non-MRR stuff, I'm getting a hockey stick, money for skates (I need to pick and try them on before buying them, since fitting is really important for skates...), and some other thing of which my mom will not tell me about...

I'll try and be back in once I'm back on my own computer...

EDIT: Dang. I'm in once since my computer's dead, and I get TOP...

Evenin' folks!

Zoe I'll just have a cup of decafe to warm me up before I turn in for the night.  I'll go sit by the stove in the back with the others trying to keep warm.

Finished a few odds and ends today as well as the daily trip to Canandaigua to feed the cats.  Monet Marie my sister's rotten old cat has been amazingly freindly this time.  Even let me sctratch her head again today.  Once......  just once.  The second time she batted me. On the other hand she didn't nail me with her claws which used to be out and dangerous......  Probably old age setting in for her.  She has a kidney problem and won't be around a couple years from now I guess.  She is 18 years old.

Spent a little time finishing up the railbars on Bare Hill today.  I would have gotten them all done, but I am out of CA to glue them in place.  Also got a couple shots of the flat cars i have been finishing for WPF thread.

Hope all of you have a great eveing!

John, thanks man. Actually, naming it after the guy I traded two engines to for pretty much all the track on the layout.

Tom, hey, nobody ever said it can't snow in the mountains in the fall Wink

Good morning.   Why am I posting so early?  Where here's what happened on the way to work..........

Its been snowing since 10:00pm Friday night and the roads are a mess.  I go to call off for work, and the supervisor said "Someone lives near me and maybe we can meet up.  Maybe ride together."   I told him..."I rather have my life in my own hands".  But.....He responded with...."But it will be the two of you".  So......We met up, and half way to work (highway was a MESS!!!!).........We hit the middle wall, slide over to the slow lane, and then we get smashed by a SUV.   About 5 seconds later, a "piggy back" truck came screaming by with his horn going.  Talk about seeing your life flash before your eyes. We call the boss and told him what happened..................And............He asked if we can still come to work.   WHAT.....Are you serious?????  We said no,  no way.

So........We go to pull off the highway, and the SUV kept going on the highway......So now its a hit and run.  I felt sorry for the guy I'm riding with.  We get to a parking lot to call the highway patrol.  Two drunk guys come out of now where, and wanted a ride (to Philly on the otherside of the state).  By then I was "furious".  I said, "NO, and can't you see we have been in a wreck".   I went to police school in NC, so I knew to keep the guys in front of me.  To kinda watch there moves.  Anyways........They walk off.

The HP shows up, and they don't believe one bit of our story.  They had our story so turned around....It went from us hitting the wall, to us passing the SUV on the on ramp, to us spinning out on the highway.

Finally they left and we are on our way home.  BUT.................Not until we crashed into a ditch.  Got the car out of the ditch and finally made it home.

So I might have to tell the "head" supervisor what I think about this.  All this of $10 a hour and packages?

Well I'm sorry for the rant, but thats my night.

I will pop back in later.

There is a job opening in my building, starting pay is $48,000 to $70,000 a year depending on how much experience you have.  The job is located in Cleveland, OH for a Environmental Protection Specialist, GS-0028-09/11/12

For those of you interested you have to apply online at the above website.

I know I have several friends here who could use some MRR funds.  You have 2 weeks to apply, this is a Federal Job.

Good luck.

BRRR! Darn, it's cold here . Mid Fla. isn't nice with temps in the 40's. Wish you dang yankees and ,yes, you canuks  would keep the door shut and keep your cold weather with you.

Hey Barry, did you meet up with Blaine's Trains?      Had a 20 minute break yesterday and stopped in at my LHS. Had a nice chat and as I was leaving He flabbergasted me by gifting me with a gp9. Put a FEC body on the chassis and handed it to me. Totally shocked me.   I'm watching the weather channel and , man, has winter arrived. I don't envy you all. Please stay warm and do NOT over exert yourselves shoveling snow.

Prayers,

Flip   aka Fla Phil

Mornin. Coffee please and some biscuits and gravy thank you.

Woke to a light skift of s**w this morning so I want to stay home, but I can't.

Jeff- sounds like the vac is doing a good job so far. All that liquid coming off has got to be a good thing.

DerJohn- I'm sure glad that when the flats occurred you were close to assistance instead of in the middle of nowhere. Got a good chuckle out of the story too. And CLOTTED CREAM! That must be it! Oh, sorry. For years and years, as long as I can remember, my Father, when he was alive, spoke of a thickish substance that would constantly be on the back of their wood burning stove when he was a boy on the farm. He said it was thick and I recall him saying something about a yellowish color, but he never knew what it was called. He often wondered if it was what we now call yogurt, though it really didn't taste the same. Of course, nothing anymore does, he would always say. He said they used it in all sorts of stuff and even ate it by itself in a dish like pudding (that is, what we United Statesians call pudding). It was something apparently his Mother was constantly making and just kept on a low heat all day and night. Kinda like the perpetual sourdough starter. It sounds exactly like the Clotted Cream description in the links you supplied. Thanks for solving a mystery. Just too bad he's not here to find out. Well he was a good God fearing man, so I suppose he found out about 10 years ago. Might just have been one of the first questions he asked. Right after, "You do have a golf course up here don't you?"

Sam- Congratulations of course! And we're all rootin', pullin', and a prayin' for ya!

Tom- I took you until the 70's to start forgetting? HA! AmateurLaugh. It took me three attempts to get a "complete functioning camera" (meaning three days of trips) just a couple of months ago and I'm a mere 47. Have fun in the snow buddy, you may not remember it by the time it snow againLaughLaugh.

Robby- Wow! What a ride! Probably good for you, and only you, that you weren't in your vehicle. Did the HP ever get the story straight? I hope the guy had insurance or his trip will have cost him a whole lot more than 10 bucks an hour for sure! Um.......did you ever make it to work?Whistling

Flip, er uh, I mean Fla Phil-Sign - Dots I'm so sorry that your temps have dipped so deeply. Wow, way down to the 40's huh. Gee those Florida winter cold snaps have got to be rough. Be safe and wear a long sleeved shirt. Better yet, when you get theses icy blasts you probably better get a jacket. At least a sweater. And of course limit yourself to exposure times. Watch that exposed skin. Don't want you to get frost bite or anything. I have had that and it haunts you forever. Are you familiar with gloves? (Wink)

Have a Great Day!!!

Morning everybody,

I live just outside of Pittsburgh and there was not quite 3 inches of snow on the ground when I got up this morning. Temperature was about 27 degrees, so that's not too bad. We are suppose to end up with 3 to 5 inches. Now that's great compared to what some of you are getting smacked with. Anyway, fired up the snow blower and got started. I usually do the sidewalks of my neighbors, so that's about 7 houses altogether.

I'm afraid that this storm might be my fault  as I ran the car through the car wash on Thursday. Everytime I do that, the weather turns sour. Somebody doesn't want me to have a clean car.

Try to stay safe and warm so you have a nice weekend.

Mornin' everyone!

Flo I'll have the #2 Special with bacon this morning.  Over easy eggs and sourdough bread toast and lots of homefries if you please.  I'll be in the back booth getting warmed up.

I'm heading out to the museum this morning with the truck and trailer to see if i can rescue my wood splitter from the place.  Guess they have finished using it and have the wood done for this winter finally.  I may have some real fun getting it into the trailer as I would assume that it is well frozen in where it is..... Hopefully there will be enough manpower hanging around to help me break it loose and get it up the ramp in the trailer.  Not sure how I will get it out there for them next year as the trailer will be sold the end of January.

My prayers for all those stuck on the Nor'easter roaring up the coast and my thanksgivings that I live far enough inland that it isn't going to hit where I live.

Its still snowing, and we are up to about 5 inchs.

Todd.....After a few minutes they came back with the paper work.  I guess they were trying to get use confused.  Never made it to work either, nor haven't heard anything from the supervisors.   I will give them a call tomorrow.

Well I hope everybody is having a good Saturday!!

Good Morning, Flo - I'll have a couple of waffles, with a slice of butter and some maple syrup, glass of milk, and a Rio Grande mug of coffee, please 'n' thank you, ma'am! Dinner

'Sn*wman' Tom Oops - ooks like you had a bit of fun playing in (or was that with?) the sn*w. Oh, we enjoy that white stuff here, it's just avoiding the 'flat-landers' or having to drive to w**k in it that can be tricky at times... As for that memory card, maybe increase your ginko intake? Wink

NS Joe, what can we say? Guess you're just 'lucky' about those TOPs, eh? Smile,Wink, & Grin Sounds like it should be a bountiful Christmas for you, at a minimum. The suprise your Mom won't tell you about might be interesting - hey, ya can hope, right?

Ray, maybe your sister's Monet Marie is mellowing out in her 'old age', a little. Sounds like I will need to go visit WPF today and see what you've been up to - always a delight to the eyes to see. Thumbs Up And you should make sure the museum knows how to efficiently use that log splitter, so they get done quicker. Wink Do you have all of your wood for the winter split and set back?

Well, Robby, as far as your 'commute' to w**k (and your supervisor wanting you to come on in anyway) goes:

on them! The rest of today has to get better than that, right? Too bad you didn't get the plate number on that SUV for the cops...Sigh Adding that to the AngelAngel list.

Barry, you'd think the city had better have enough in the 2010 budget for all the rest of the pipes in your neighborhood. Was your water out from this most recent pipeburst (or was it still out from the last one, I'm having trouble keeping track...). Some things you just gotta shake your head and laugh, dontcha? And you haven't even got started don winter up there yet. Shock

I heard nasty rumors that around 6 a.m. this morning we had some of that white stuff locally (probably for about 10 seconds, I'd guess - I didn't look outside until I was heading for the laundromat). Nothing now but a little bit of occasional mist; about enough for the lowest delayed wiper setting on the car. The breeze will be one of those damp, cold ones today that sucks the heat out of any exposed surfaces, I expect. So I'll hole up inside someplace warm most of the day (except for a stop by H-L; want to get some kind of steel gray and a suitable rust color).

Flip, good score at your LHS! Thumbs Up He must be doing well this year - our LHS gave all the MRR club members an XActo-type knife (with #11 blade) at the club's Christmas dinner party. No locos, though...

Todd - Laugh (Flip, I'm not really laughing at your misfortune there (snicker...))

PA Tom - how about, your next vehicle, you get something in a nice mud color? Then you won't have to fowl up the weather with carwashes... Smile,Wink, & Grin

Well, it looks like my laundry's done across the street there, so I'll be heading out. I'll check back this afternoon.

Blessings and prayers for a great Saturday (what's left of it),

Morning all....just a quick coffee in a NYC mug please...already had breakfast served to me bright and early by my daughter...(and the dog too) in bed. I turned the fair age of 37 today. Nothing like getting pancakes made by an 8 year old at 6 in the morning. I was also surprised to find a gift that I would have never guessed....the girls got me the MTH NYC Mohawk for my B'day!!!!...Holy Crap!!!...That big old diamond I got my wife for our anniversary must have paid off. The thing runs sweet and looks good pulling my pacemaker string of boxcars. Good thing I found those stupid UGG boots she wanted for xmas. Turning out to be a great day so far. I just may have to hit the LHS today and get myself something. Tim

Coffee in a small AT&SF mug, please & thanks.

Has been a rough few days. Got the Inlaws moved back into the more efficient assisted living facility after finding some movers to help when contracted movers couldn't start their truck. Thank goodness for "2 Men & A Truck", even if 3 men showed up.LOL With the staff dispensing drugs, etc... there should be little if any Inlaw emergencies for a while.

SoapBoxGot the Vpap machine and as I predicted (after hearing what the settings were) I woke up 2 hours in with a painfully distended stomach, setting world class non-stop burps for a good 5 minutes. After all the $$$ spent on 3 sleep studies and pulmonolist vist, that's the best they can do? What a RACKET. She calls them a medical mafia, and I completely agree. She also wants to buy a Vpap off craigslist so I can set it myself. They cost a small fortune.

I keep losing weight, but now it's getting scary. Going to go back to my old Doc first thing next week and see if he'll go for the MP (Marshall Protocol). Doing nothing I will never live long enough to see my model RR built. Now I'm just trying to get the wife's layout as far along as possible. Sorry for the doom & gloom....it's just where I'm at. Just hope this desease isn't to far along for the MP to restore my immune system. Gotta do something and soon.

Hope everyone is doing well.

Ladies and gentleman, I am trying out for a rugby team! There's a high school league here in SC and apparently a local team has been made drawing players from both Aiken High and South Aiken High schools. Say hello to the long rivalry, lol. I ain't played rugby in my life, but apparently nobody on the team ahs played in match before, so I won't be alone, lol.
