Sawyer- Good attitude. Some older folks could learn from you. Not everyone gets things the first time and some can't admit it after they find out what it's about.

thanks. Hey, worst comes to worse my photos look worse the second time, the world won't end.

Robby, twins? that'd be cool man.

Well I got the job at FedEx.  The supervisor was very impressed with my past history with FedEx.  We sat and talked about our past with them.   He has to run a background check, and then I can start.  It will be 4:30am - 8:00am Tues - Sat morning.   Thats not to bad.   Now maybe I can get away from the weathering some.

Phillip..Sawyer.....All I know is........She looked up her numbers "HCG" and they say if its double/triple its mulitples.   Her number should have been about 150 range for the first test, not 900.   Then it fell to 500 over the weekend.  I will let everyone know what the number today is.  Probably not till this afternoon.  We were thinking maybe it was twins, and the body rejected one.  Maybe that's why the number decrease.  OR..........It could be 900, and the second reading 1500.  That the nurse read it wrong.  TWINS...TRIPLETS Blindfold.

Thanks evrybody for the prayers, and thoughts Big Smile.  I think we might finally be getting back on our feet.

Good morning, well...what's left of it.

Wow, lots to catch up on again in here.

SAWYER: I agree with the King of Toddland...you've got a good attitude. Hey, if the shots turned out the way YOU wanted 'em to, 'nuff said. Like I said, sometimes the "vision" just doesn't make it from creator to viewer. It happens. Not quite my cup of schnaaps, but I won't rake you over the coals for 'em either. Keep shooting and writing, someday you might just put me out of a job.Smile,Wink, & Grin

Just for kicks, grins, and out of a complete lack of any energy/motivation to w**k on what I SHOULD be w**king on, I'll toss up a few "artsy" shots I've gotten over the years.

Here's an "artsy" shot I tried in... '90, I think, during Photo 1 class. I was trying for a sihlouette (sp.) of a diesel (my favorite, the SD40-2). It didn't work out so good. I hated it, photo instructor had a "photogasm" over it. Go figure?Confused

Some years later, same spot at Beverly Yard, I see some light power heading my way. This time, I got something "better," in my opinion (recently valued at 1/2 cent).

Then, there's one of my all-time favorites, shot in '87 in Morrison, IL during my first ill-fated year of college with a Pentax point-and-shoot camera and good 'ol Kodak Gold 200 film.

Hmmm. I think I've wasted enough time for awhile, I'll uh, yield the floor now. Good thoughts continue to go out to all in need...and it looks like that's quite a few.

EDIT: ROBBY P: Congrats on the job! And, best wishes for you, your wife, and the new addition(s). Good luck to ya Sir!

Robby, sounds like you're having one heck of a ride.

Chris, I actually like that first shot, lol. Radiates exactly what I like; mystique, power, and aggressiveness. Guess I'm jsut a little bit weird, but nothing i haven't called myself before.

Thanks Sawyer. The "saving grace" as I see it for THAT shot...is enough details are visible (rad fans, etc.) to tell the viewer what it is. I still look at it as a poor attempt to salvage a horribly exposed negative with something "artsy." Shock Yep...the rest of the story. I botched the exposure (apperture/shutter speed combination) on the Pentax K-1000 fully manual Single Lens Reflex camera. The negative was so "thin," you could read a newspaper through it. But...I had to turn in so many prints...so battled it until I got this.

I guess that's why I've kept this shot all these years, it proves my photo professor's claim of "if it's on the negative, it CAN be printed." Of course, it's all digital now...but from time to time I have to have Photoshop bail me out!

Art, in whatever form, is truly in the eye of the beholder. You see "mystique," I see "the photographer was mystified as to what setting to use. You see "power," I see "powerful locomotive...too bad you can't SEE IT!" You see "aggressiveness," I see "the photographer was so teed-off when he souped up the film, he about had an aggressive moment vowing to pitch the camera off a tall building and swearing-off ever exposing film to light ever again!"

lol, nice analogies. yeah, art is truly a one man design for everyone involved. It is how you take it.

As to the trackplan, that's stalled because I don't have the measurements of the shelf I want to work on. Otherwise, I'd be working my butt off on it. i have an idea of what I want to build in my head, question is can I fit it on the space I have.

Afternoon folks!

Robby, hearty congrats on getting the Fed-Ex job.  Hope it works out well for you!  Also my prayers for your wife (and you) that everything works out well for her....Angel

Sawyer, I too like your attitude on try and try again as well as not letting some people get to you.  You will go far in life my young friend!  Keep working on getting that perfect photo that says what you want it to say.  Last week at camp I looked at and processed well over 1200 photos to get the 290 I put up on line.....  Used up almost 7.5 Gb of hard drive space as well...............

I have been again painting rail today.  After working on a section, I got looking at the track from the height that someone over 6' tall would be seeing and found that I should have ballasted the back side of the upper track.  You can't see the backside of the upper track if you are 5' 8" like me........  So I have been getting that completed as well.  Had to take out some of the scenery to get the ballast in place and glued, so now there is a bit more w**k with THAT as well. Banged Head  Don't think I am ever going to get this area to the point where it will meet my standards for the Scenery Certificate (as my standards keep getting higher.  I just hope that my standards are high enough to get the Merit Points needed).

Thanks guys!!!!!!  I can finally start looking at model train stuff now.  Well give it a few weeks, but I can finally look.  Not having a job makes that hard.

First thing I will be is this.............Well the HO scale one Mischief.  I've had my eye on it for a few months now at the LHS.  Its about $75.  Its made by Athearn, and its the same paint scheme, and all.  Just a different number.

Thanks again for all of the thoughts, and good luck with the job.  We all might never get to meet, but everybody in here is a friend to me.

Hello .....

Congrats to Robby!..... When is 1st day at Fed Ex? .... I hear US Postal Service is cutting back. I'm glad Fed Ex is hiring. Looks like a WLE GP40 hauling coal..... Hmmmm ...I'd expect GP40's to haul intermodal or auto rack cars.... Fast, light freight instead of coal... I recall SD40's were good coal haulers.

Also, I see Chris and Sawyer are keeping us in the dark so to speak. Perhaps, you guys could just take pictures of black NS units if you are in the mood....

It was good to see Bob K (BO GP40)  in the diner again. He has posted neat photos of a club layout from time to time.

We gained some appreciation for ambulance crews and the risks they take here yesterday. A 9-11 call said a man was drowning in a farm pond. The ambulance was dispatched to the farm. About 5 miles into their emergency run, they hit a deer and lost control. Two ambulances were sent to take the two injured ambulance crew members to the hospital. A fourth ambulance went to the farm. The man there had drowned. Ambulance crew memebrs are doing OK

Last time I was saying the economy is so bad that the 4-wheeler dealer went out of business. Another casualty is the demolition derby. The "boys" say it is costing too much money to fix up the cars just to wreck them. Evidently, their cars don't qualify for the cash for clunkers. Maybe, they should get a bailout like most other people these days. .....

Cheers everybody...

Good Evening All,

Well it's off to the museum to play with their toy trains. Spent another day here doing a little here and there and lots of supervising. Sort of a different those who can do, those who cannot do, superviseWhistling?

Garry - I think all the roads haul coal as most service one or more power plants. When we stayed in Pittsburgh we were right on the CSX main and all we saw were full and empty consists of coal cars and a couple of container trains each evening. The coal seems to be going to the local power plants as there is litlte or no steel making any more in the city.

All for now - gotta run and enjoy my night off.  CUL, J.R.Big Smile

Evenin' everyone !

Chloe, an iced coffee please.  thanks

Robby -  good luck with Fedex.

Jerry - Broadway Limited had a "Grab bag" clearout sale.  I received an email as a direct customer.  The sale window doesn't open anymore even though the brick and mortar sale was supposed to last for 2 weeks starting 7/27/09.  For the $60.00 for the two "bags", and a little work I should be able to get 2 nice steamers going even if it's only DC.

Well, time for our monthly First Aid meeting.

Later Folks... Eric

I got home to find that now there are severe t'storm watches and warnings for us this evening--although the radar seems to be not so populated as at was yesterday evening--

The report continues on apace--I think it may only need a few touch ups tomorrow then I can throw it through the printer---no, Ray, not the shredder--Then I have to psyche myself up to yap in front of a board and then I'll be sort off the hook for a few weeks--Smile

Jeff: That was WWAAAAYYY too close!!! I had something like that only once and that was enough, thank you verymuch!! Shock We have a road that comes to an intersection at odd angles to another one. This road comes down a hill with several curves to lessen the steepness of said road. One night, I was coming down this street towards the intersection to see a red light down at the bottom---I slow down but the tractor trailer unit behind me had somehow locked up the brakes and was doing the J brake thing--I was dang lucky that I was able to scoot over to the side and let him go through that intersection! Thankfully there was no one else on that corner or there might have very well been issues---

Flo, I'll have a coffee and a large slice of that Lemon Meringue Pie please---I'll have over at the RC---

That's a great deal if you need them. I only need two SW type switchers and I already have them. An Athearn SW1000 and a P2K SW900, permanently coupled and physically MU'd, equipped with Digitrax DZ125 decoders, not to mention speed matched. I got them for $45 each after the cost of the decoders. Not a bad deal at the time.

Good Evening, Chloe, just a quick stop by on the way through - go cup of hot cocoa, please 'n' thanks!

Saw the banner for Robby through the window and wanted to stop by long enough to say

CONGRATULATIONS!

- on both landing the FedEx job, and on the possibility of twins (or triplets)! Thumbs UpYeah!!

Also saw that Bob K. was by - been a while, good to hear from you, Bob!

We've been having the master of all t-boomer storms tonight - the part of town west of the interstate is out of power, I hear (including Wal-Mart! Shock)... We'll see if I have power when I get back home. So those of you east of us (not sure if this one's going south of the Appalachians or up the Ohio River valley, missed the weatherguesser report at dinnertime). Just watch yourselves, Diners!

And with that, I'd best be on my way. I did save PDFs of the pages, so I can look them over and write some tonight at home (if power's not out, that is). I'll see everybody in the morning, so behave yourselves until then...Whistling

Blessings and prayers, including for those still job-hunting and with other needs,

Jim in Cape Girardeau

Chloe, please give me a piece of that fresh huckleberry pie with a big scoop of icecream on top.  I will buy if anyone joins me.

I just thought that I would stop by to see how everyone is doing.  We have not had much layout progress.  The locos get a little exercise.  Too much outside activities to keep us busy.

Later,  Sue

***Robby, CONGRATS on the Fedex job! Excellent!

Wife & I saw the Doc today. Lined up some blood tests and some other stuff. ((the following is not meant to offend anyones diet))) Now, I've eaten Subs and typical foods forever, except fried (which I gave up some time ago). When my innards (digestive tract) became constantly uncomfortable, I did my own experiment. This past week I ate ONLY fresh fruit, veggies, and grilled cuts of "un-processed" meats & fish. My symptoms all but vanished by weeks end. And the wife commented my daily cough had gone away. So among the tests the Doc has scheduled for me, is one that could verify what I believe are allergic reactions to gluten and certain other foods. Funny thing is, he ordered me to eat my regular diet so the results (reads inflamatory responses) would be accurate. So, back to all the stuff I'm used to consuming. Who knows, this could prove to be the best news I've had in a long time. IF my sarcoidosis could be kept in check through dietary changes, I would be thrilled beyond words. Maybe that is much to hope for, but I'm very tired of feeling ill all the time. Even the Doc now thinks I'm onto something.

Didn't have any time today for train stuff.

Have a good night all.

Good Evening or Night depending on your time zone,

Robby, I have to add my congrats on landing the Fedex job and I have my fingers crossed for you and your wife, hope everything turns out OK.

Jeff, that was a close call. Can't say I've had that experience but the way some drivers tail gate I sometimes wonder if they will stop. I've had some nervous moments looking in the rearview mirror.

Not much new with me, we had a quiet long weekend as it was a year ago Sunday that my FIL passed away. My MIL wanted the family together so we all went out to brunch at a spot that was my FIL's favourite.

As usual for me it is late, so I'll say goodnight

Good late evening everyone.  Just stopping in to say a quick howdy before heading off to dreamland (since Heather finally just "crashed") W**k has been keeping me pretty busy, so not much time to get on here.  Good news is that my wife has found a permanent place of employment (since her school let her go this summer), now I've just got to find something more permanent than what I'm doing.  If only I had the money, I'd open my own shop and go into business spinning wrenches like I really know how to.  Planning on trying to get a "primer" (read: probably flat white or light gray) coat of paint on my GP40-2 since its still enjoying its alcohol bath and all the decals are eaten off, but the paint's staying, so on to primer, detail parts, and then back into service with it.

Robby: Congratulations are in order on the job and my family extends best wishes and heartfelt prayers to you and your wife until you know for sure about the bun in the oven.

Jeff: You are correct sir, a very close call indeed.  I've had a couple of similar incidents happen with me, and likewise have had to make a break for it, but thankfully been spared damage.  Oh yeah, the starter change would have gone a whole lot easier if you would have beaten it with a hammer and called it dirty names first.

Well, I'm off to bed, prayers and well-wishes for all (yes, I do me ALL).  Goodnight from sleepy, gee-its-still-warm-outside Bama!
