Evenin', Chloe - I'll have a hot fudge sundae and a Santa Fe mug of coffee, please. Thank you.

Well, Ulrich, before you run out of the food money, maybe you can supplement your meals with some roast bear wolf politician? Shock (Just kidding...) Man, we'll need to start putting in the AngelAngel for a quicker meeting with your guy. Two weeks sounds like way too long to have to wait to find out... Like your new plan - you maybe could do the water with the float in place (and a plastic liner under the car float), and then after the water hardens, pull the float out.

And ohmigosh! The Cubs are about to pull ahead of the Cardinals? Yikes!!!Shock (Thump, thud...) Spplassshhh!...  Oh, thanks, Robby - I must've passed out or something, I guess. I'm gonna have to find Albert Pujols' phone number and have a heart-to-heart talk with him (and LaRosa, and...) about letting that happen...Oops As for football teams, I don't really have any favorites.

Robby - nice job on that Ann Arbor boxcar, Thumbs Up and besides, you didn't want to have those 'non-prototypical' trees in the background, right? Smile,Wink, & Grin

Kevin, hope that there will be enough people to get them to change their minds - that's one whopping cut! Did they give anyone a heads-up that there might be some cuts, or did this come out of the blue?

Rob, I'd say somebody at your FIL's home should be monitoring his meds for him, so they don't have any repeats of that. (And I'd probably agree about hiding that Walthers catalog....Wink)

JP, thanks for filling us in on the home and family topics, and remember to stake out a few square feet somewhere, if only for your MRR display case!

Jeff, have you labelled any of that work gang with 'Slowlink' stencilled across their backs? Whistling

Sawyer, are those photos taken in the room you'll be using for the layout? Looks like a lot of light in there, which should be good when you're working on the scenery and such. And I've never quite heard that analogy used before... interesting, indeed!Confused

Chris - looks like whichever paint shop did that covered hopper had the hiccups or something that day (or maybe were hungover?). That looks weird, all right! And that UP/MP combo might've come out of the same paint shop, from the looks of THAT. LOL!

Not much going today - had my morning follow-up people show up, and then about noon when I was gonna get things caught up, one of our Drs. had me called down to his office (had a ranting/raving client in the office who had been threatening the staff and manager at her home, complaining because of not getting as much anxiety meds as the client thought they should've, and threatening to run away. The client was madder than I've ever seen this one in the past (and I've had to commit this one a few times). That went fairly quickly, but took up about all of my lunch hour, so I had to get it all done and get back for my afternoon follow-up people (who didn't show...). Right now, I have a roast in the slow cooker at home. During the week - unless I can get home over lunch - the five hours to cook the thing takes too long to have it ready for dinner (at a decent hour, anyway).

I fiddled around with a different arrangement of industries for the 'future layout' plan, involving the cement plant being added in, and the grain elevator and another building or two being rearranged. I'll try to post an image of it tomorrow night.

I'll be at the RC a bit until I finish up my dessert and coffee.

[Edit] And it looks like I have the night-owl specials tab (and early breakfast crew), as well as Ulrich's lunch tab too, perhaps. Wink

Blessings and prayers,

Jim in Cape GIrardeau

Say Chloe, looks like the place is nearly empty but I shouldn't be surprised as it is after 10 p.m. here.

I forgot to wish Ulrich a happy wedding anniversary so Ulrich, please accept my best wishes for many more happy years with your wife. I've been married 27 years now and just can't really believe it sometimes. Good luck with your business too.

I've been very busy and tired lately because of work. I had to go through a Cross Examination of Affadavit which means a lawyer asked me questions for 3 1/2 hours under oath with everything being recorded by a Court Reporter. Our lawyer got into a few squabbles with the other one as she was asking off topic questions and often was getting a little too beligerent. I was just drained after the process but at least it's over for now.

Not much new here except that Robbie is getting bigger by the day. I think his weight has likely doubled in the 2 months we've had him. He is a lot of fun but is really tiring at times. It's quiet now so he must be napping which is a good thing as we'll soon be putting him in his crate for the night.

Another cool week here with temps in the mid 60's F and rain showers. Glad I sold to boat as it has turned out a really poor summer for sailing.

See you soon,

CN Charlie

Good evening from drippy, drizzly, Camp Babcock Hovey here in the Heart of the Finger Lakes.

Today was field trip day for all three sections of SciTek Camp.  The Bugs, Birds, and Beasts Section went to the Cornell University Ornithology Lab:

The Engineering Section went to Cornell to visit the Mars Rover Project Lab.  Well it was supposed to do that, but the bus broke down and they spent a lot of time waiting................  They did manage to get there for the visit and tour of the NanoTechnology Lab:

Yep, that's them in the funny looking suits....  (A requirement of the Clean Room):

And I went with the Renewable Energy Group to visit the Cohocton, NY Wind Project run by First Wind.  They have 50 Turbines in operation totally and can produce 125 MW of Electricity.  Enough to power about 54,000 homes when they are all up and running.  From the ground to the tip of the rotor when it is at the top, is 420'.  Each blade is 154' long and when rotating at 15 RPM, the tips are moving at 100 MPH.  Very impressive to stand at the dase and look up at the rotating blades.

We met at the Farm (one of the "host" properties).  The Turbine is actually close to a 1/4 mile out in the corn field in back of the barn.....

Here is the kids at the base of the turbine:

The week is going by way too fast....  We have a great bunch of campers!   Hope you are all having a great week as well!

 Good morning.

It's 77 and cloudy. The high will be near the mid 90's and there's a chance of rain.

Had problem after problem with the cable internet out here yesterday, indeed, for the majority of the last week! There's a loose connection in the area for sure, as the signal seem to go on and off seemingly with a change in the wind. There's supposed to be a tech coming out here this morning to check the problem out. Well, we'll see if he's a tech or just another wiseguy who tries to protect the company by claiming it's a problem with the users equipment. If it's a problem with my equipment then there's a bunch of people having the same identical problem as it's an area of over a hundred square miles calling in about it (Got that from the crew in Tyler yesterday). On the MR front I'm sorting through my boxcars that have roofwalks. Those that have roofwalks that can be easily removed will have them removed and remain in service. The others which have roofwalks that can't be removed (molded on) will be retired to the storage cabinet above the layout. I'm not concerned about the position of brake wheels too much as many older boxcars still had the brake wheel up high for years even after the roofwalk was removed. Roofwalks on covered hoppers are necessary for obvious reasons and so are not a problem. Got the parent's yard mowed yesterday before it got too hot to work outside. Even then I still felt like a big water drop when I finished. If my sister remembers to get some gas today I'll mow her yard this weekend.

Today: Patchy fog before 9am. Otherwise, mostly sunny, with a high near 81. Calm wind becoming west between 5 and 8 mph.  Tonight: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 10pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 68. Northeast wind at 5 mph becoming south. Chance of precipitation is 30%. I worked on the concept of operations for the hopper fleet yesterday and emailed it out for suggestions and recommendations.  I think the use of live loads will give the railroad a unique opportunity for busy train hustling.   I still need to sand and paint one wall in the remodeled basement room before the bench work is built.

Good Mornin Just coffee please. 66 F right now, Partly cloudy with a high of 81F, only 10% chance of rain.

Waited tables for two nights in a row so I have a bit of eeeeextry cash in my pocket so you know what I'm a thinking'???? I'll give you a hint, it involves Popeye's Chicken. Give up? I'll give you a couple more minutes. It's an easy one. A bowl of Post Toasties to the winner.

Sawyer- Sorry to hear of your break up. There'll be another, and another and another. Sometimes you'll walk away crying and sometimes you'll run away asking why did I ever??!! Ah, sometimes love is like an oatmeal sandwich.

Robby- Say, is this a sign that things are getting better in the economy? Or a sign that more and more people are watching your auctions. Excellent job and in 2 hours!! What did you say 30 min for the last one? I certainly hope this pace keeps up.

Jeff- was the salsa incident a moment of distraction or was it a confusion from the stroke? I hope it was just a duh moment, I know my wife has dumped some strange stuff into strange things from being distracted.

Ulrich- You're still on the Angellist.

OK times up, A trip to Castle Trains sillies. My FLHS of course. Gosh, you guys. Oh well, Zoe, set up whoever wants a bowl anyway.

Have a Great Day!!

Gooooooood Morning.  The rain has stopped, and its suppose to clear up today.

Well FedEx called yesterday, but the number they gave me to call for a interview was disconnected.  I called them this morning, and the lady said she will have the other lady call me again.  I guess she won't be in till later.  So I hope I get this.  I normally do good at interviews.

Jim.....When the Cards came to Pittsburgh about a year or so ago, my wife caught a batting practice ball from Albert.  Two guys went for the ball and missed, and she grabbed it.  Its just a plain old baseball, with grass stains on it.  It makes you wonder how many ball parks its been in, before she grabbed it.

Todd.........Thats why I keep doing boxcars. They seem to be the "hot" item right now.  The Ann Arbor car is going to Norwegen.  Hopefully its not to much to ship.   I had to use that car to pay my fees of $71 dollars Banged Head Angry Grumpy.  I wasn't to happy about it.   I'm honestly debating to get another car today, or wait and see what happens with the FedEx job.  If I get it, I won't do them as much.   Plus a guy in Australia is sending some cars for me to do for him.  So....it seems like I will be busy enough.

On another note.  Remember my wife had surgery in May, that if we want to have kids/get rid of pains she was having....That she need the left tube removed.  Well she hasn't been feeling good, and called the doctor.  They said to take a preg. test, and she did.  All three came up positive (pregnant).  She had blood work done this morning, to make 100% sure she is.  BUT she has all of the signs that she is.  Now thats why I hope the FedEx job works out.  It was honestly a miracle it happened the first time.  That also has me alittle worried.  Hopefully I have someone watching out over us, and I'm sure it will all workout.  I know we have been at the bottom of the barrell for awhile now.

Well I better get off of here.  I will pop back in later.

Good Morning All,

A reill of myregular in the travel mug please.

Back in the shop and hard at it already. Stuff to catch up with and stuff to finalize planning for all at once. That plus we need to get the last bits of cabinetry and counter tops for the house so we can get a C.O. and actually start moving back in. This weekend my oldest and youngest sons will help me dismantle and remove the old boiler from the basement and clean up so we have a staging area for the household goods once we get them out of storage. Once the furniture is moved upstairs we can continue insulating and finishing the basement so the CFO can get her wood working tools set up. Wish us luck.

I'll try to stop in later,  J.R.

Good Morning Zoe, I'll try Jerry's all-you-can-eat pizza and salad special, please, with a RBF. Thanks!

Ulrich - the prayers continue for you there. Hey, you 'educated' me - I had to look up the Beaufort scale (though I bet Lee knew that one already...). Donner and Blitzen, eh? Is that like sleet, or what?

Oh, Jerry, not to razz you or anything, but I noticed that 24 hours later, the Cards are back ahead of the Cubs...Whistling

JR. hope your house's progress continues well and that you can begin the moving back in soon!

I'll have to check the P.O. box today and see if my issue of the new MR is in yet. Check out what articles and stuff they have in it.Yeah!!

Not too bad of a morning at work today - my 10:00 came early (he got in to see our Dr. early, so he came upstairs after that and we were able to start (and finish) early. My 11:00 rescheduled (has migraine, he said), and I have an intake at noon.

I'll have my pizza and salad at the RC - oh, good, the salad bar has mushrooms, bacon bits and all the good stuff! Dinner

Blessings,

Hello ......

I'm here just a few minutes. I'll come back to read your posts carefully later today.

We arrived home at 2:00 am. Shelley's back and knee injuries are somewhat better, and I think all will be OK eventually.

Our daughter in Detroit area is doing fine, and she is carrying grandchild number 5 who will arrive in August. All looks good with that.

We recieved very sad news from NC. Our son and his wife were expecting grandchild number 6. The baby died 3 days ago, and our DIL had surgery to remove the baby. We are very sad about this news.

Afternoon all, just stopping in for a moment to say hello before I get back off to work.  Had an eye exam today, nothing huge, just a "normal" check-up to renew my contact lense prescription.  Just a RBF for me right now, I'll be back in later this afternoon for a snack.  At least I'm caught up on things in here so that I'm not going to spend the evening playing catch-up.  Robby P, glad to hear about the possibility of expecting a bun in the oven.  Garry, I'm really sorry to hear about your son and wife's loss, prayers for and to them.

Sundown got 2 new (new to them) police cars today, 2 well kept 2005 Crown Victoria's. One is an unmarked city police unit and the other is a county sheriffs unit.

I also picked up Schultz's Garage, Walther's #243-20100

and a set of 3 Floquil earth tone paint pens.

 Afternoon folks!

Zoe just a RBF for me.  I'll be at the Rivet Counter.

Just got finished with a Career Fair here at the camp.  It was primarily for the Sci Tek Camp, but open to all Scouts here this week.  Had some great booths.  The one from ITT/Goulds brougt in a laser scanning machine and was using it to create 3D computer files of objects like a deer skull and some of the campers faces.

We have Sky Lab tonight for all the campers.

Catch you all later!

Good Evening All,

Cloudy and 85F here but the rain held off. Checking out of the shop and off to the house just now. Have a date with some wasp nests that are in the way of progress in the garage and shed then re check the basement to see what I'll need tdo to remove the boiler.

Garry - sorry to hear about your son and DIL's troubles, Our prayers for some comfort for them. Hopefully your daughter in law will recover from the surgery ok.

Jeff - nice additions to the layout. Did the building come prefab or is that all your handiwork?

Sawyer - gf trubs come with the territory but as others have said, hang in there. When the right one comes along you'll both know.

After two 3h days I'm ready to head back out to Nova Scotia - if only there was any w..k to be had there. Hope Robby has a good interview when it finally happens. I'll try to stop in later.  CUL, J.R.

GMTRacing
Jeff - nice additions to the layout. Did the building come prefab or is that all your handiwork?

The building is a DPM kit which has yet to be assembled.

Evening all, decided that I needed to come in and hang out with a few rail-heads.  I'll have a RBF and a order of cheese fries.  I've got a couple of questions.  Considering the rather large number of locomotives that CSX has in its fleet, what do y'all think would be the "reasonable" fleet number when it comes to what I run on my upcoming CSX Dothan Subdivision layout?  Another thing, what would "reasonable" compression be for something like a 100+ car autorack train, or similar unit grain train?  I was thinking about 3 engines and 25, 30 cars, but I don't really know what to do since basically every train that runs through Troy runs with 3 or more engines and 60-130 cars.
