Good Mornin, A bowl of Raisin Bran please. Nope, no problems, I just like Raisin Bran. Yes please, a cup of coffee too.

It's 62 F now and supposed to get to 86 F with partly sunny skies.

Nothing special happening today it looks like.

Have a Great Day! Big Smile

Good Morning, Zoe, I think I'll have a glass of Ed's OJ, bowl of that Raisin Bran and a glass of milk, please, and a D&RGW mug of coffee to wash it all down with. Thanks!

Sawyer, forgot to mention last night that your RS there looks great. Thumbs Up

Ulrich, that was very nice of your neighbours to throw you both a little party for your anniversary. Must have some good neighbours there. Yeah!!

And I see Ray's busy at the camp already - hope the wet stuff doesn't cause any missing of fun things for your campers.

Supposed to have a (sorta) hot one in Cape G.-land today, upper 80's or lower 90's (F), which isn't really bad for July weather around here. Humidity's up some, but supposed to have chances of showers later in the week.

I'll join the crew at the RC watching the morning switcher doing its stuff.

Blessings,

Nah, a little of the wet stuff just gives us more nature to observe. Right now the "Birds, Bugs, and Beasts" track is watching a DEC Video about "Living with bears"  Later they will get to "explore a bear trap.  Just an FYI for those of you who love the outdoors.....

Bear Warning!

The National Park Service is advising hikers, hunters and fishermen to take extra precautions and be on the alert for bears while in the wilderness this summer.

Hikers are advised to wear noise-producing devices such as little bells on their clothing to alert but not startle the bears unexpectedly. They also advise you to carry pepper spray in case of an encounter with a bear. It is also a good idea to watch for signs of bear activity.

People should be able to recognize the difference between black bear and
grizzly bear droppings. Black bear droppings are smaller and contain berries and possibly squirrel fur.

Grizzly bear droppings have little bells in them and smell like pepper
spray.

Have a great day!

Bear Wolf Warning!

Sorry, we are out of bears this season. Will a wolf also do?

With the downfall of the iron curtain, wolves are now migrating back to the west, following their old routes. Just when you thought it was safe to go back into the woods...

Good afternoon.  No rain in sight, but its kinda overcast.

Finished up a car for "the bay" this morning.  Seems like someone likes my cars.  In the last week alone, he has spent $300+ on my boxcars/hopper.  Plus he's interested in the one I just finished.  That really helps us out money wise.  BUT the *fee's* is adding up Grumpy.

Called FedEx Ground this morning.  They are hiring 3:30am-830am shift $9.50 a hr, plus a raise after 30days.  I worked at a FedEx Ground in Charlotte, NC several years ago.  I worked at that one for a year and a few months.  Gave it up since my grandmother was walking to work (I worked 3rd, and didn't get home till 8-9am).   The lady on the phone said I should be fine, since its been several years.  While I worked at the one in Charlotte, I got....Employee of the week twice, promoted (different jobs) four times, caught some people stealing (got a award by The Head FedEx Manager), I was a trainer for the new people.  So maybe that will help me.

Here's some of the latest cars I have done.  All to a new home.  If I get the FedEx job, I can kinda slow down.

Hope everybody is going good, and have a good afternoon.

Robby-  Mind if I critique a little. Your cars as usual look great, but just allow me a moment to assist;

The Rock car well,....hm. Ok so I can't find anything needed on that one.

Saskatchewan cyl hopper,........alright so that one looks perfect too.

Ah, the Railbox, now THAT one,......well, uh, the car looks fantastic but, um well, you need to work on the trees in the background, they look a little fake compared to the car. Just trying to help.

Wife had a flat tire on the Interstate coming home from work and a car full of Mexicans pulled over behind her and gave her a hand with a can of fix-a-flat. With semis flying by, that is a dangerous stretch of road, so I'm very thankful they helped her out.

A few pop-up storms around here today, one hitting the valley. That's good, won't have to water the garden.

Ear is much better, but other health issues continue. Don't think I can finish the meds, either. Getting very tired of this. OK, enough of my whining.

Tom...........I go to about three near me.  Honestly I have about five to eight LHS near me.   One is about 5 minutes away.  I give it a 4 out of 10.  Stock is old, prices are ok.  One in Greensburg 20 miles away "Bradys Trains", I give it 6 out of 10.  I like that one due to they take in "used items".  Sometimes you can find a good deal.   The main one I go to is in Connellsville.  Its about 20 miles from me.  I give it 7.5 out of 10.  They have the most "Athearn RTR" in stock of any LHS I've been to.  The prices are about the same as the others.  They have a good selection of Athearn engines, and a few other makes.

Like I said before, quite a few near me.  I honestly haven't made it to half of them.  I did go to the one in Pittsburgh (looks like a barn, kinda can't remember the name).  Its ok.

It just depends on what I need/looking for, on which one I go to.

Jeff.......If I get this "FedEx" job I will probably layoff  "the bay".  Still do one or two for extra money/layout money.  Right now I owe about $60 in fees!!!!!  I put back about $10 dollars on each car that sells thou.  Thats the biggest draw-back.  Maybe if I get it (fedex), I will contact you next time I get a few done.  I would be honored to have them on your layout Big Smile.

Robby - I think the one which you referred to as looking like a barn was probably "A.B. Charles" on Banksville Road. The original store on West Liberty Avenue was a whole lot better with lots of brass, etc. I'll have to stop in at the others you mentioned. If you ever go to Cranberry Twp., try Hobby Express. That's the one I patronize.

Afternoon all. Chloe, I'll take a RBF, thanks.

Jeez, haven't been in here in AGES. Been so busy on vacation, I haven't even had time to stop in.
Anyways, lacrosse camp started today. It was awful, mostly because it was 80 degrees. Hopefully it won't be as hot the rest of the week...

IDK, not much else to talk about. I'll be in the corner booth if anyone needs me.

Hmm, talk of intruding varmits, eh?  Biggest problem down here is Coyotes....although my bolt-action .30-06 will handle them.....and anything else I aim at.  Work has been going well for me, at least I'm getting a paycheck.  Got and eye doc's appointment for Thursday, nothing important, just gotta get the "normal" exam.  I've also gotta replace the driver's side CV axle on the Impala, no big deal, just the inboard joint has slop in it.

I've got all the decals removed from the GP40-2, however the B&O blue paint is still on there, so I'm just going to paint over it with a simple primer (probably a flat white paint just to give a neutral base to paint into CSX YN3 colors).

Went to TN this past weekend for the wifey's family reunion, had a blast, ate too much food, played the "annual" game of croquet in the front yard (its something to do, other than sit around and talk).  Only downside of the whole trip was the sudden fire alarm at 12:40am.....first fire truck didn't show until 1:00am (thankfully it wasn't an actual fire, just someone left a hall heater on too long and got everything super warm), but sheesh, 15 minutes to respond and there are three stations all within 5 minutes....c'mon y'all....Oh well, got back into the hotel room at 2am, didn't get back to sleep until 2:30am due to them still trying to clear the fire alarm.  Hotel ownership comp'ed us for the night....so we got two nights for the price of one.....

Well, the child (Heather, our adorable 2-1/2 year old) wants to go for a walk before bath-time, so we're going to get out and square away 1-1/2 miles and come back to be tossed into the tub and then off to bed to make it into work at 8.

I'll take a RBF to go for the night and I'll see ya'll later on.

Evenin'all!

Nothing for me tonight Flo, just wanted to pop in before bedtime.   Been a long but very good day here at camp.

The only varmint we saw all day (except for the 28 campers.....) was this guy, and he wasn't bothering anybody:

The Bugs, Birds, and Beast track got to check out a bear trap today among other Bear related stuff like tranquilizing guns and darts.....

The engineering track built some little LED thingy....

The Energy Track tried to build some Wind Turbines:

And tonight half of the group went over to COPE (Challenging Outdoor Personal Experiences):

Hope you had a great day!

Between the two of us, wife & I have had numerous encounters with black bears. No biggy. It was one particular grizzly that stalked us for over 20 minutes in the Beartooth Mountains that had us seriosuly concerned. Turned out to be a troublemaking young male, transplanted from Yellowstone that later had to be put down. We were very lucky that day.

Well, Good Night all.

Good Morning Folks Hi Zoe, some decaffe in my ARR mug and a blueberry muffin, thank you! I´ll sit at the RC and wait for the other folks to stop by... I had been using Firefox as my standard browser up until Saturday, when it started to react funny. Now I am using Opera, but all the emoticons are gone - very strange! I guess my computer doesn´t love me anym, ore - sigh! The last wolf was shot around the middle of the 1800´s in Germany and for 150 years, little red riding hood had to do without her favourite companion. Since a number of years, there seems to be a migration of wolf packs to then west of Euriope again. Wolves have been filmed crossing the Oder river from Poland into Germany. As the old border between the two "Germanies" with the electric fence and the mine filelds are gone, nothing stops them on their "quest to the west". Nearest sighting to my house was about 10 miles. As this is a tourist area I am living in, local folks get very edgy about wolves attacking sheep firts and than eating the lonesome hiker.... Wolves are protected animals, so shooting them is a no no, which I think is the correct attitude. After all, little red riding hood was just a fairy tale... Robby P. - I keep my fingers crossed for that FedEx job for you! Barry - I thought you like cats - cougars are just a little bit oversized... Rob - take care of you - will ya ? I will have an important meeting today - there is a chance I can win the former CEO of the leading German cruise shipping line to work with me - he has all the contacts I so dearly need! A good day to everyone of you! Edit: I see that opera is not supporting any formatting as well... or is this due to Kalmbach´s server update?
