All right, all train watching done.....wasn't horribly long, but I did see a few new Caterpillar front end loaders heading south to Dothan and other points afterward. Now that that is done, time to throw the 2-1/2 year old into the tub and let her play with her rubber duckies and bubbles.

Hey all, haven't had a chance to get in here in a few days, took a little while to get caught up. All's well on the baby front for us, still expecting Mikayla Elizabeth to arrive on or around October 27th. I've got the pictures from Heather and I's railfanning expedition on the day of the Dr.'s Appointment. The job hunting still continues for me, I've been looking and looking to try to find something. I do have a temporary position at the chemical lab that our pastor owns for at least the next couple fo days (thursday and friday) so its not much, but it is something! Well here's the pictures.

Enjoyed the pics of the Weiner Mobiles, although I'm partial to the full scale version. Kinda doubt even the sporty versions would corner much better though. Wish there were more giant product mobiles like Oscar Meyers.

Hi Chloe! Nothing much today, maybe a lemonade.
Spent some time this morning on a wild Guena Hen chase. Seems the neghbor Across-the-Road-over-a Field-through-a-small-mershy-tract-of-Trees-Across-the-Creek-Over-The-Guardrail-and-across-a-busy-two-lane-highway had lost one of his guena hens which had crossed the road and creek and was in the marsh. We chased it for a while and then gave up, hopeing that its mate's calls would lead it back.

Well I will try and do a "step by step" on a boxcar for you guys. If any questions, please ask .
First a before shot:
After shot (for now), and what was used:
The first thing I did was fade the car with Testors white, thinned with paint thinner. I let that dry for about a day. Today I started with a layer of dullcote. Then I added dust around the ribs/door/ends of the car. I used AIM weathering powders DIRT and BLACK. I put the dirt color down first. At each rib I lightly went over each one, but came back with a "makeup sponge". I went up and down each rib. That takes the powder off pretty good, but leaves some on the ribs. I did that to the whole car. Then went over the same way with the black. It kinda layers it. On the ends of the car, I added each color alittle bit thicker near the bottom for rail/dust/grime look. *Sorry I forgot to take a picture* After all of that, I added another layer of dullcote. Let that dry for now.
The paint brushes used was a 10/0 (red brush), and a round brush (blue brush). I used the blue brush for the fist layer, and the red for the second.
Tomorrow I will add the rust, rust pits, gashes, etc.

So far I have worked on some NMRA District mailing stuff that should have gone out a week ago. Well, I did clean off part of the dining room table, but only because I have to use it to get the mailing done.
Zoe how about a White Hot with some hot mustard and onions, a side of fried Onion Rings, and a Dr. Pepper to tide me over 'til supper time.
I haven't even started to think about packing for camp and all the supplies that I need to buy before I leave. My house has to be cleaned up big time before I take off as well. I need a bunch of 28 hour days to get everything done.
I'll gulp down my lunch in the front booth and get back to w**k!

Well I just got back from the interview, and boy what a waste. I don't like temp. companys, and thats the last one I will even try. They said I wasn't qualified for the job. No experience. The other jobs were to far away, and one I had before. I still have a interview next Wed, and hopefully it goes better. Dang temp. services .
I did go by a LHS in the town, and picked up another Intermountain hopper. That will be started on today.

I got three big trash cans outside that are full of old videotapes. That leaves plenty of space on the shelves now for my DVD's. There's still more tapes to sort through but they'll have to wait. We're getting a bunch of rain here. At one point the clouds were so heavy it look like late evening.

He's got enough spare plywood around here for the wood.
Chris, I actually olunteered to jsut go with the 4x8 under the condition I got the staging extension and the loop. I can visually see what I'm going to build, now for the plan. I should be able to fit my 12x6.5 nicely onto the 4x8, thoguh a couple of the spurs will have to be shortened. and some elements swapped around. I'll probably work on the plan this afternoon.

I suppose I'd best get to doing something resembling the concept of being productive... I've got captions to write/photos to edit. I also was assigned an investigative story about an assisted living facility, which dropped the assisted living not even a month after trumpeting it. I've got documents from the state about a complaint involving a "negative outcome" for a resident...so looks like they cut corners and it bit them. I can easily rack up some hours doing research on this. Good project for a rainy day.

Well gentlemen, I have agreed to building on jsut my 4x8. However, I do still get my staging extension, and I can have a lobe at the end for a loop for a continuous running (not turnback) conenction. I'll draw the plan up soon. I also can add anm extra two feet to the end of the 4x8 if I need to, but I'm paying for the benchwork as well, sdo that probably won't happen.
