Hey, with my family's history, I understand what you're saying Jeff.  Really I do.  But sometimes when your body is trying to tell you something it's just wise to listen, you know?

I'm not advocating giving up, but I am saying that sometimes it's better to rest so you can fight another day, that's all.

Evening Gang: Well I made it in tonight but I don't know why. I'll try and figure it out later. Not much going on otherwise. I did alittle on the mine head today. I think that I'll give it a coat of primer tomorrow. That usually shows up the places that need work.

I'm going to head for bed. Since the time change it seems that it's later then it is.

Good Night All

Good Morning All,

Fresh coffee brewed and ready - I'll have a regular please Zoe. Mild again and not raining (at least not yet). We had a nice presentation at the museum last night with photos of the Berkshire from 67 on. Nice shots of the Berkshire Senic and Housatonic plus the last NH days and some PC and Conrail though the latter are hard to tell as in many cases only the road numbers changed, not the paint. Did figure out that the filter panels missing from the RS-11 I'm working on didn't just disappear. They were already gone in 1970 from most of the car bodies. Just the engine intakes remained filtered which also explains the 2 - 3 " of crud on the engine room floors now.

Jeff - I don't think anyone is advocating giving up, just staying careful. Even with everyone watching out for you at woirk we still worry about dizzy spells and falling. I assume you have some sort of flex time arrangement and by take it easy I'm advocating perhaps some more frequent work breaks just to give your equilibrium a chance to catch up. Keep active and involved, just don't push yourself to the point where you get hurt. Just reading about the storms outyour way. Glad to see you were ok after.

Dick - sounds like a full day for you yesterday. Hope your DIL's surgery went ok. My mom always said the best thing about grandkids was that they eventually went home and she could relax a bit. Yes, younguns' can be a full time job.

Paul - that's one of the adventures of becoming "more mature". You walk into a room and for the life of you, can't remember why. It's always fun when whilst looking for something you've misplaced you find something previously misplaced.

All for now work beckons. Found out yesterday the steering rack on the Lotus was 5" too long so we're now in the middle of shortening it. and lengthening the tie rods. Always something. CULBig Smile [:D],J.R.

The faster I go the behinder I get.

Morning Gang:

Lee: I always thought that in the Coast Guard you didn't have to know how to swim. If the boat sinks you just walk to shore. Just kidding. I know that you guys and lades do a fantastic and at times dangerous job.

I'm back at work so I guess I'll get started with a cup of coffee and check the rest of the forum posts. See you all later.

Good Morning PC, Dick, and Paul!

Just a hot cup of Café Joe for me this morning!

Ed says to tell everyone “Hi” and that the oranges are in full production right now, regular shipments of the “Fresh Squeezed” are still being sent our way too! He and Fran are doing well! Says he will be making a trip north for the holidays to visit family and LHS too...Yeah!! [yeah] Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg] Whistling [:-^]

Hey Duke, been missing you too!

Storms ran through here early this morning around 4:30 A.M., and the tornado warning was just lifted a few minutes ago. Drive into work was really wet and not too safe.

Cheers,

Good morning everyone, another very foggy mornin g here, visability is down to about 500 feet, the temp is 59F, RH is 99% and the Dew Point is 59, hence the fog, no wind at all. We have that strong front approaching that has been hammering the south, and should get 1-3" of rain starting tonight. We haven't seen the sun since last Friday.

The CFO and I were supposed to do some Christmas shopping today, but the DIL is very sore after her ops for 3 skin cancer areas.....she is Irish and has fair complection, need I say more? So my wife is over there taking care of Kelly and the baby Sean ( 9 month old and into everything ). So I am holding down the fort today.

RT: You are so correct buddy, 9 month olds are a handful, it takes constant attention at that age. Just ask MIKE, he has younguns at his ranch and has to rest for two days afterwards...LOL

RYAN: Almost Friday, and a short week next week, hang in there !!!!!

JEFF: I hope you are taking it easy today.....you have nothing to prove to anyone, so take it slow when your body talks to you.

See you guys at the lunch table,
Dick If you do what you always did, you'll get what you always got!! Learn from the mistakes of others, trust me........you can't live long enough to make all the mistakes yourself, I tried !! Hi to all,

what's going on, just walked in the door from work. Good day most are but there are those where its a race to get home and into the basement, and onto the latest project. I jump around alot that way, never like working on the samething to many days in a row. Alot of times i'll just spent a hour or two just switching. I use to be a die hard Soo fan but now i run what ever i want. Soo,CNW, MIlW, IC, and my lasest is NYC, but only with lighting stripes.

Only have to work a half day tomorrow, thinking about going down to the boat and hopfully win alittle money playing poker. Was there 2 weeks ago ended up with more then enough to pick-up my new Kodak 650 and a 512 mem stick. Now I have to learn how to get my pics on here so i can post some that i took at the big show in Milwaukee last weekend.

I did stop by the weather stone when i got home, same as yesterday dry meaning no rain, cool to the touch say about 43, i could see it so its not foggy, it was moving alot more today so its alittle windy, the string was hanging staight down which means low humitity. Just so its not covered with ice that means freezeing rain and thats the worst.

Jeff, I am surpised you are able to hold a drivers lic. most times when you start blacking out your doctor pulls it. I lost a few guys at work because of this, but we have CDLs, their alittle harder on you if you have a CDL. Hope someday they maybe maybe they can find a cure for you.

Thats one of the great things with the Dems. winning big last week now they can hopefully very soon move forward with all stem cell research.

RT welcome back! you have been missed by all here.

Well I was given an early xmas present my wife bought me a lionel standard gauge set it consist of an 8E engine and a 337 passenger car and a 338 observation car. 11 curve tracks only need 8 and 4 straight tracks. I ordered 2 - 36" tracks for it .

Well tomorrow have to replace stove the oven went out night before last. ( bought it used about a year ago so for $15.00 it did its job for the past year. ) heck this one I'm picking up tomorrow is like new only 2 years old but was only use on weekends at a lake house so its in good shape. but it will have to last 20 years to get the same dollar value out of it lol.

Well just got my assignments for this eveing from the CFO so I need to run. will talk to you all later have a good evening

Good evening, CS'ers! Chloe, since Jerry is buying, I'll have a cup of hot chocolate and a brownie a la mode for a dessert with it, please. Dinner [dinner]

I see by the page count that I have somewhere around 30+ pages I'm behind, so I'll just write a quick post and apologize for any special needs I've missed in the process.

Kind of cold and grey today, now that the front has moved through our area. Supposed to hit the low 30's (or flat 30) tonight, but no precip. coming for 4 or 5 days, I think. It was blowing up to 20 mph this morning, but slowed down tonight to 3 mph. To get into the low 50's tomorrow, so no heat waves just yet. Wink [;)]

All my MRR orders came in this week, it seems... Black Eye [B)]Oops [oops] Our local club member and dealer sends us emails when Horizon or Walthers have sales on items, and I probably ordered too much at once. I think I have a couple of Accurail D&RGW boxcars, a Walthers Pullman sleeper, some Classic Metal Works vehicles, the State Line Farm Supply building, some signs for the sides of buildings, four hopper cars (ATSF & SP/T&NO), and some Chooch freight car loads. Then there are the eBay auctions I'm waiting on to arrive (a Revell Weekly Herald building and a D&RGW 'Cookie' boxcar - the silver colored one). I like the Walthers diner car I got earlier (though one cabinet fell down inside, so I'll have to get the roof off and re-glue that), so I expect the Pullman sleeper car to be good as well. On sale, they're a pretty good deal (got the diner around $25-27 with the club discount on it). Guess I'd better watch it - I need to keep enough in my Christmas gift fund. I'll have to lay low on the purchases for a while, looks like.
Shock [:O]

Some of our MRR club members are heading to the Collinsville show this Saturday. Inch and Jerry - is that close enough to you guys to justify going? I heard that because this one's fairly close to Christmas, it tends to have a lot of sellers there. Now, whether or not there'll be lots o'bargains, I don't know. (But the one last summer, I found some decent prices on used boxcars and on some vehicles there).

This weekend (besides picking up my orders and doing laundry) I figure on getting the remaining track nailed down and possibly start on some scenicking. Also, I want to try to finish up the figures for the club's diner. Last week, I did some filling to try to level out where it's supposed to go on the club layout.

RT, good to see you back in the shop. Got your 'puter fixed and running, I hope. Good luck with getting another 20 years on the new stove. Not so sure they make them that well nowadays, though.

Well, going to head on home and see about a little trackwork tonight, now that I found my drill bit to drill holes in the additional places where I want some more track nails... Smile [:)]

Prayers for those with health problems (that's often a lot of us), and for those who have been out a while (as I have been).

Blessings,

Jim in Cape Girardeau

Hmm... guess I never rightfully intorduced myself here - name's Dan. Though you guys can keep calling me neo if you want....

I'll be there tomorrow... provided my stupid hunk o' junk car decides to not die..again.  Battery was dead last weekend, so I went to the local car parts place & got a new one (wow, they're expensive), replaced* the old one and took it back there.  Drove it for about an hour Saturday just to be sure everything was working OK... and to be sure it was charged up.  Had to run some errands on Sunday - OK everything is fine... went to start it this evening to see a preview of Fast Food Nation (boring movie... good thing it was free)... all i got was a click and the console lights got really dim...Censored [censored]

Took a few tries but it finally started..... hope its OK tomorrow... it's going to the dealer on Tuesday for an oil change (if ti starts... stupid car)... hopefully it's nothing major....

*Don't get me started on how Censored [censored] stupid the design for the battery compartment is..... if I was of age, there would have been a VERY stiff drink afterwards....

Hi, new here,  Dave from Reading, PA  Back in the 70's or 80's there was a poster print of a train running off either an incomplete or failed bridge circa 1860-80's.  A couple of gents standing around in long coats and stovepipe hats, and one muttering "Oh S*** "  I wonder if this is still available anywhere, or if anyone could make a scan if they have one.  I checked all the big poster shops at the Beach areas, and they think its out of print.  This is not the Photograph of the Engine hitting the streets after crashing through the wall in France.  That is available.  This other one just always made me smile, great for the office or trainroom.  Thanks for any feedback, Dave

Good evening gents, last call for coffee on the east coast.

CAPE JIM: You got some nice stuff there young man, it pays to a have a club discount !!!! Everything gift wrapped yet for the CS members ? LOL

DAN: Seeing you have a new battery, and lights got dim, the battery should have been charged enough with the hour drive, so I would rule that out. So now you have the following to consider:
1. The Alternator, which provides the charging current for the battery.

2. The wiring. You might have a bad ground, or even a bad cable itself. I have seen them so badly corroded at the battery clamp that they are literally ready to just snap in half.

3. Something that is shorted when the engine is OFF which is draining your battery all night.

DUKE: Good to hear from you again, beginning to worry about you!!!!

Time to turn in, see you guys in the morning,
