I was having a good day at work today, good energy all through the day, then 10 minutes to quitting time, I blacked out. Not fun.

Jeff,

A guy at work had the same problem. He went to an ENT and he had a virus in his cochlea that caused it to fill with water. This caused him trouble since without warning he would get dizzy, sea sick, and sometimes pass out. He also experienced headaches and a run down feeling. I’m sorry I don’t remember the name for this condition, but you might want to ask your doctor if this might be the cause. I hope you feel better soon!

I already know what causes mine. I had spinal meningitis when I was 2 years old and it caused extensive nerve damage and also damaged the organs in the inner ear that control balance and orientation. When I was 23, I developed diabetes, which has caused more damage, completely destroying one of the aforementioned organs, leaving me with one seriously damaged one. Sometimes I can go a whole month with no ill effects, other times I'm dizzy all the time if I'm on my feet. The doctors found out just how extensive the damage is when the did a cat scan some years ago and frankly are amazed I can walk at all, much less hold a job.

Good Morning All,

Still rainy and mild temps. It's hard to believe it's nearly turkey day and still no coat required in the morning. Just a regular coffee "to go" for me please.

Jeff - Sorry to hear about your troubles yeserday. Hope you're better today. I know it's more than just pacing yourself, but we're all pulling for you here.

Jerry - Hope Sallie's feeling better. How is the auction going? And for that matter, will the passanger coaches clear your tunnel?

Fergie - Good on  you. Sounds like you've made a decision for primary power type on your road.

Got to run lots to do again today if I'm to finish in time. CULBig Smile [:D], J.R.

Getting ready to go to work this morning, though I don't think I'll be there long. Not feeling good today. I've already fallen once and run into two walls. My equilibrium is definitely not on track today but I'm going to push on as long as I can. I could stay home and feel sorry for myself but I'm not that kind of person, so that isn't going to happen.

I'll have pancakes today.

Good Morning!

I’ll have the breakfast special of the day!

Dick, I like that too about the APC’s used battery cells, recycling is easy and free, and they pay the shipping cost too.

Jeff, sorry to hear about the blackout. Hopes your feeling better today.

Morning all!

Just some fresh fruit this morning Flo.  Thanks!

Todays weather in the Indianapolis, Indiana area:

It ain't pretty folks!

Hey Jeff, Don't push yourself too much, OK?  I know you don't want this to get you down, but sometimes it's best to take a short break so you can push on later.

Colby, you slice through water pretty well.  Great times!  Oh, and the tunnel sounds cool too.  Got any pics?

I'm checking again, got some spare time  in english. sry I don't have any pics on the new tunnel but the clearence in it great I can run all my engines and rolling stock through one of the 2 tunnels and all except my passenger cars through the curved tunnel section. One tunnel is straight the other has a curve to it. and my current layout is actually 2 put together. I used my bridge set to elivate one layout while I have a 2nd one going under it. and my MEC boxcar kit just barely makes it under the bridge.  I'll keep you guys posted on the swimming. this weekend I have to go to Bar Harbor. I need to stay in a hotel so I will not beable to check in durring the weekend.

keep health every1! and I read in study hall that Maine's econmic growth will be the slowest of the 6 New England states. and I have found some site that have railroad jobs available. I'm hanging on to those sites.!

Cya later!

 The secret sound
A man is driving down the road and his car breaks down near a
monastery.

He goes to the monastery, knocks on the door, and says, "My car
broke down."

" Do you think I could stay the night?"

The Monks graciously accept him, feed him dinner, even fix his
car.

As the man tries to fall asleep, he hears a strange sound. A
sound not like anything he's ever heard before.

The Sirens that nearly seduced Odysseus into crashing his ship
comes to his mind.

He doesn't sleep that night. He tosses and turns trying to figure
out what could possibly be making such a seductive sound.

The next morning, he asks the Monks what the sound was, but they
say, "We can't tell you. You're not a Monk."

Distraught, the man is forced to leave.

Years later, after never being able to forget that sound, the man
goes back to the monastery and pleads for the answer again.

The Monks reply, "We can't tell you. You're not a Monk."

The man says, "If the only way I can find out what is making that
beautiful sound is to become a Monk, then please, make me a Monk."

The Monks reply, "You must travel the earth and tell us how many
blades of grass there are and the exact number of grains of sand. When
you find these answers, you will have become a Monk."

The man sets about his task.

After years of searching he returns as a grey-haired old man and
knocks on the door of the monastery. A Monk answers. He is taken before a gathering of all the Monks.

"In my quest to find what makes that beautiful sound, I travelled
the earth and have found what you asked for:"

"By design, the world is in a state of perpetual change.
Only God knows what you ask. All a man can know is himself, and only
then if he is honest and reflective and willing to strip away self
deception."

The Monks reply, "Congratulations. You have become a Monk.
We shall now show you the way to the mystery of the sacred sound."

The Monks lead the man to a wooden door, where the head monk
says, "The sound is beyond that door."

The Monks give him the key, and he opens the door.

Behind the wooden door is another door made of stone.

The man is given the key to the stone door and he opens
it, only to find a door made of ruby.

And so it went that he needed keys to doors of emerald, pearl and
diamond.

Finally, they come to a door made of solid gold. The sound
has become very clear and definite. The Monks say, "This is the
last key to the last door."

The man is apprehensive to no end. His life's wish is behind that
door!
With trembling hands, he unlocks the door, turns the knob,
and slowly pushes the door open. Falling to his knees, he is
utterly amazed to discover the source of that haunting and
seductive sound......
.
.ButI cant tell you what it is because you are not a monk.

Modeltrainlover: Those are really good times, I’m happy I can do the 500 yard swim in under 12 minutes, funny thing about the Coast Guard they really want us to be able to swim for some reason and they test us every year. I look forward to seeing your pictures.

Jeff: I hope you’re feeling better and we will keep you in our thoughts and prayers.

Inch53: That was a good one, friends and family got a good laugh out of it.

Still working on the turntable, I hope to have some pictures this weekend to share if anyone is interested.

Good eveing guys, the 1st time on the PC today, our DIL had to have surgery, so the CFO was with her all day at the hospital, and I had fun all day with my newest grandson Sean 9 months old. I set the Thomas Train up in the living room, and we played together all day. I am TIRED, he is standing up against things now, so when he gets bored, he is off to everything he can reach, and our house is no longer "baby proof", so it was non stop chasing , feeding, changing, and yes, we both managed to get a nap in the morning for an hour, and another at 3pm.......now I know why God arranged to have us have children when we are young.....but we sure do enjoy them now at our age don't we all you grandfathers out there?

Later,

I actually had a pretty good day today. Even though I had some dizzy spells that ended up with me against a wall or on the floor wondering what the * happened, I got all my work done by 3 pm.

As for backing out and giving up and staying home feeling sorry for myself, I don't know how to give up, I wouldn't know how to go about it because I'm not that kind of person. All my life I've had to deal with my disabilities. I learned early on that I have to keep a positive attitude and tackle each new day as a new challenge. Through the years, many people have used me as a role model for their loved ones who have disabilities. If I could go out and do things for myself, there's no reason that someone who has fewer problems than I do can't do the same. Admittedly, there's not much that I can do as far as a job is concerned. But that doesn't stop me from setting goals and achieving them. Over time I have become an example of what a person in my position can do to help themself to the options that are available. I'm not going to let my problems stop me from achieving the goals that I set for myself.

I could have decided to just sit at home and think that I can't get anything done, so why bother trying. But I want to do for myself, as however I can. If that means working for minimum or near minimum wage in a wood shop that employs the disabled, so be it. It's honest work and an honest days pay and I set a good example for my friends and neighbors. Many of the fire fighters in the volunteer dept I'm a member of think that I'm a very special and determined person to keep pushing on the way I do. And I'm going to keep pushing on, ever forward, for as long as I can.

If anyone is thinking about giving up simply because they find it harder to get around or they can't stand or walk without some kind of difficulty or they have severe learning problems and can't easily learn new things, these are problems that I've dealt with my entire life and I will not let them stop me. Don't let them stop you, either.
