Hey, I'm with you guys on this doing things differently, but just look at the last few posts.  Do we look like a bunch of old fogies or what?  I don't know about you guys, but I'm not so old that I can date dirt by just looking at it!  I'm going to take the life I have left and make a difference with it.  That way, 20 years from now, I won't be able to say "If I would've known then what I know now.........."

JEFF: Your advice to others is right on the money. Type II Diabetes has been in my father's side of the family. He , his brother, and his sister all had it. His brother lost both legs at age 53, my dad LISTENED to his doctor, took orinase (sp) for years to control it, stuck to his diet, checked his glucose level faithfully everyday, and lived to be 88. He spent his last 6 months back in 2000 living with us, and we were thankful to God to have that time with him.

Grayfox, it is due to type II diabetes, yes. I do have a hard time getting around sometimes and forget about ladders, stairs are easy going up, coming down is a real sdventure. I had to have the gas pedal in my car modified so I could use it well, as my foot can't move in the walker boot.  It's bad not being able to feel your feet. My right foot has been broken 12 times in the last three years and my left foot has been dislocated a couple of times.

To all of you with diabetes, if your doctor tells you to be extremely careful about managing your condition, listen. I didn't and now I'm paying the price.

Good morning guys, it statred out cloudy at 6am but now the sky is completely clear, temp is 57F, very low humidity, but this is the norm in New England in October.
But, looking at the North American satellite info from NOAA, we have one big COLD wave headed our way for next week. The upper midwest will get socked first, then it will spread eastward. It looks to me like it could be RECORD cold for this time of year.

JEFF: What happened to your feet? Is it due to type II Diabetes or injury???? That must really be tough to deal with.

MIKE: Prayers continue for Becky, at least they know what they are dealing with, and can treat her correctly. As long as she to take meds that lower/compromise her immune system, she will really have to watch herself to stay away from areas where she can pick up anything such as colds/flu.

Tall OJ for me this morning!

I was out sick yesterday with Ben too, back to work today but not 100%. Ben is still out sick too. Strep throat really gives you a 1-2 punch, on antibiotics now and they help, just wish I felt better, kind of dragging today and did not sleep much last night.

Driving into work this morning in the fog and in the dark was a real trick this morning, especially being on medications too. I made it in safely and on time too, but don’t ask me how I did it.

Duke, Yea, Monique has been working late but I have been sick, I thought I could get in some “modeling time” but my strength is just not up to it the past few days. I was off work all day and Ben was out of school yesterday; so we just sat around and watched TV all day… and took a few naps in between going to the doctors and filling the Rx….

And thanks for the Apex photos; I really like that one with the 1:1 signal. They must have pull out more stuff on Sunday, eh! Wish we could have stayed longer….

Paul, yep, the day after T-day might be good. Got to have a good excuse for working off all that mashed taters and gravy, stuffing, and pumpkin pie and all…

Jeff, good luck with that! And temps like that might fry a couple eggs on a rear bumper, eh!

Duke, the moving comes slow, but steady.  See, I've got two hobbies to move.  My old hobby was building model cars.  I've got about 300 of them that need moved.  And then there's the trains.  Glad you enjoyed the website.  It's not so easy, is it?

I did a similar type thing when I was about 9 years old. Wasn't watching where I was going and crashed into side of a parked pickup at a pretty good rate of speed. Pickups were built tough back around 69, it didn't dent. I was knocked colder than a wet mackerel and had a bump on my head the size of a goose egg. I don't recommend it.

I have not broken a bone so far but I did come close to knocking myself out cold.
I was camping with my dad and one of his friends who has brought his son, who is also a friend of mine. My friend parked his bike infront of the camp ground. I was going to fast, I breaked hard but skidded and crashed into his back tire, every thing suddenly went to seconds before sunset (or looked liked it)..

Ended up with some sun yesterday, but gotta cold, damp rainy day here, thundering now, highs in the mid 40's.
Becky's condition is some better, but she now has a staf infection also. They figured out what she has finaly. It's a kind of bird flue from bats dropping, very rare I geuss. Beck and Jerry was down along the Ohio river awhile back and went into a cave where bats had been, and the arthritus meds they have her on had lowered her imune system, which only made things worse. It's going to be along time for recovery ahead, but she's still not out of the woods yet.

Jeff,, my chololestal runs in the low 70's for the bad and bout 80 on the good. so no problem therefor me.
At the temp that sign showed, geuss you could say it was a heat wave.

Trent ,,, hope the wifes feeling better today. The docs gave me some of those wrist braces, couldn't do anything with them on, made my hands hurt so bad. I gave up on them, I just live with the pain now.

Good morning and top 'o' the day to all of ye. I'll have the cheese and mushroom omelet this morning.

5:00 am and it's still pouring down rain here, 7 hours straight. Bad thing is I can't go outside as long as there's standing water deeper than 1 inch because of my special footwear. I can get around ok inside the trailer without it because I have the walls to help maintain my balance, but outside forget it, I can't walk more than a few dozen yards before the excessive energy required to keep my balance leaves me exhausted. I wouldn't wish my problems on my worst enemy, it's just too horrible a fate.

Dick  It's been about a month or so since I have heard from Bill and at that time he had just had a birthday party for his wife Kitty. He said all was going well but was having some trouble getting registered back into the forum. I will probably send him an Email in the next few days just to check up on him.

Thanks Steve and it is an interesting loco. I have been keeping up with you and a couple others on the other side of the street.

I still have more pics coming and have been saving the ones I like the most to last.

Good evening guys, all that talk about injuries from knives and cutters, etc, brought back a memory or two to me also. One night after just arriving home, I hadn't even taken my coat off yet, I was opening a box that was just delivered. You know those large man-eating staples that they use to hold the covers closed on cardboard boxes? Well I was tearing the box open with left hand, and discovered that the box was travelling with me. When I tore open one corner, one staple when through my little finger and out under the finger nail. I could not believe that I wasn't feeling any pain at all. We all know how "sensitive" are finger tips are. So I had my wife hold the box while I retraced my finger out from the staple. Again, I was expecting all sorts of pain, but I felt nothing, I couldn't believe it!! It came right out, bled like crazy of course, but that was good, I let it bleed to cleanse the wound before using a healthy dose of hydrogen Peroxide. My Tetenus shot was within 10 years so I didn't have to go to the Doc either.
Is there ANYONE in the CS that has NOT sliced, diced, a part of their body????

STEVE: Good to hear from you again!!! How are feeling after the operation on the sinuses? I sure hope you have a much better Fall season than last year.
I see your dad had his prostate gland removed also. I had mine removed back in 2003, but not the same way as your dad. Here they either use laser robotic surgery, or standard incision which is what I had. About a 4" cut starting just below the belly button going straight down. Never felt any pain from the operation, but having the catheter up into your bladder for 10 days made me nervous, I was so afraid of pulling it out at night while sleeping. PSA tests WORK, and I strongly urge every man after age 50 to have this very simple blood test done EVERY year. Prostate cancer is at epidemic proportions in men round the world, especially in men with family history of it, and ALSO men that have had a high fat diet.

Hi all Back in VA. now . Thanks for all your thoughts It was a rought time but some good also as all got to see and talk with both brothers (been long time ) Met Sister in law for first time ( they been married 22 years) always west coast and I've been south or east coast.  Saw a cousin I havent seen in 30 years and her father I haven't seen in 14 years hes a real card so it was great time for us also mini reunion at a time of sorrow of course some of the stories flew about this one and that one lol.

Jeffrey my poor old dad's just had his prostrate taken out, through the old you know what, it makes my toes curl thinking about it, anyhow two days later a woman got caught up in the cathiter pipe and tripped up on it, poor old dad was NOT amused one bit. He on the mend now but it's taken weeks
