Good morning folks: I'm up earlier than usual.  This just in from Fergie:

I can't believe I've been here for three weeks. We've been very busy and
really haven't stopped. We started with our hydrographic program in Quaqtaq (Tape worm),
then we were in Ivujivik (where the ice piles high) and finished up in Puvirnituq (Bloated
meat)on the 12th We then proceeded up through the head of Hudson's Bay through Fury and
Hecla and arrived in Nanasivik This morning. We are now headed across Lancaster Sound to
provide three naval ships with fuel.

Not much on the MR side as I plod along with the control board and a couple of other
projects. Home in two weeks.

Anyway I'll talk later

Regards Fergie

Sign - Welcome [#welcome] Martin! I must read back to where you came in.Smile [:)]

OZJim, is that you with the Happy B-Day [bday]? Hope you have a good one. The R2E2s sound more worth the money. We certainly get mangoes that size.

Too early for breakfast yet, and have to get over the colour scheme on the wagon Luc showed us.Clown [:o)]

See you later, maybe.

Mornin all, just some coffee fur now Zoe,
Chance of thunderstorms, high in the 80's, and increased humidy here today and I'm feelin it too. Got nothin done round here yesterday, other than play with kids, had Leroy n KC all day. Then Mother called n said Clyde n his were coming out for supper and I was cookin on the grill. Didn't get rid of all of them till almost 10, so much for a quiet evening watchin football.

STEVE, come to think of it, I don't see many 85 quattros  here. I've worked on a few of those  when I was working in a body shop.
Thats my kind of diet there feller

MARTIN, guess it's my turn to welcome you, set n have a cup on me.

PC, thanks for the pic

ED, the trouble is with Firefox here, still having problems with the copy/paste with it. Works fine with explorer. Think I'm going to end up taking this this #$%^  into the shop.

RYAN, understand, went through it with the boys and now the grandsons, anything that shotts or go fast top they're lists

ED know what you mean bout nasty diapers, been there done that, still doing that. I'll be so glad when all the grand kids are potty trained.

PAUL, I think I can get Mother to make a cake , if  LISA doesn't.

LUCT,  great looking  Fargo panel, haven't seen one those in years, thanks for the photos

Got some good news yesterday, Beth has now decided to go to school where she's at, not come down here, I'm so happy. Today is they're first day  there.
Got finish getting the corn in the freezer this mornin, then work outside till the rain comes in. Then I think it's off to the train room n play for awhile [come on rain], not much else planned. Time for chores, hope ya'll has a good one

Hello folk's

just put a fully charged battery into one of the kid's remote control tank and it was a dead duck, so i thought i'll look at it later, just then Robert said "why's it smoking daddy" and lo and behold it's on fire on the kitchen worktop, what a dammed stink it's made as well.

On the bright side no harm was done but if he'd charged it up and left it in his room all hell would have broken loose.

Good morning!

Just got an MR email newsletter, looks like Joe Fugate has a new PDF video on track laying with latex caulk, and they are selling it for $5.95 per download. It looks interesting and I am thinking of getting it. Anyone ever purchased any of those PDF “how to” documents?

Is anyone going to enter the Model Railroader layout planning contest with the 9 X 11 foot room? Thinking about that too!

Hey Steve, that diet plan is a funny one, I tried it before, but it never works for me!

Wishing you a Happy Birthday James! Happy B-Day [bday]

Inch, what did you end up grilling the other night?

Have a great weekend everyone!

Cheers,

PLEASE, be careful when railfanning.  Big Brother is watching and he's not particularly fond of railfans!

PC, Sorry to hear about that experience, you really put yourself in a tight spot huh!

I hope that we really are safer from terrorists these days, but I tend to believe that we are not really safer nor do we have as much freedoms as we used to have.

Interesting that the term "Homeland" in America closely resembles the term "Motherland" that the Nazi's used to promote their agenda.

Glad to hear you got out of that situation relatively unscathed.

PHIL: I don't know what this country is coming to, but I do know that too many business, including the government bureaus, have too mnay as...h... in postions for which they have not a clue. They were probably all "D" students in school, and these are the only jobs that they can handle. They get their "jolly's" by acting like Magnum PI, and feel that they are the re-incarnation of Senator Joe Mc Carthy. For those of you who are too young to know McCarthy, he held Sapnish Inquisition in the U.S. Senate back in the late 40's early 50's , where he thought there were Commies behind every smile of nearly every American.
Phil, the terrorist WIN when our own countrymen have ZERO and I mean ZERO..Common Sense. Man, I would write an article in the People's Forum of your local paper and lambaste the fools.

We had some Reservoir police stop us from walking on a dirt country road that surrounds one of the City of Worcester's reservoirs that is located in OUR town of Leicester. Young politically appointed as... that can't tell the time of day. I told him that I lived in this town all my life, served in the REAL U.S. Army, and I will damn well walk on any street in my home town, arrest me and I will write a article in the newspaper that will raise so much trouble that he will quit his job. That was the end of the conversation and I kept walking.

STEVE: We had a friend of one of my son's leave a toy on his bed in the basement of their ranch home, which had a motor of some sort in it. The toy was left plugged in and it caught fire and did $50,000 damage to the home, making it unlivable for 3 months while repairs were made and the stench removed. And, you are correct about the toys made in China, they have very loose regualtions at this time for some articles, and maybe some electronics also, so I sure hope the regulatory agencies are doing their job before reaching our homes. Maybe one of Phil's RR policemen , or Home Security people could get a REAL job !!

I guess I had better go continue cleaning the garage, I'm all wound up after Phil's story...I think I am madder than Phil !!

I say we get them to toss him in the big house and sneak into his place and steal his trains!Evil [}:)]

Seriously tho, remain calm.  You had a problem because you got caught between being in the yard and another vehicle.  What made it worse was that you didn't pack it in and go home.  See, when you were still in the area, the CSX folks got suspicious, not when you just got stuck within the property.  What you may want to do is contact an attorney and together draft an apology to CSX and politely request permission to be escorted around the yard as a guest.  Or, just confess that you're a home grown terrorist, waive a trial and go straight for the execution.Angel [angel]

DickThey came out with some sort of security stuff over here a while ago about taking pic's on stations, a couple of  "It's more than my job's worth" type policemen did make a bloody great stink about some trainspotters on a platform end but nothing came of it, in fact the police concerned got told to lighten up and look around you at the real world, Whooops

I say we tell those that had PC that he has trains at home for making his plots and maybe they'll take them from him and give them to us for a reward.  Just kidding PC I see were they are coming from but think there over acting also. But then we kinda know you and they don't.

Next they'll start coming around and accusing us that sell broken/parts of our model trains on ebay as proof we use the trains to make plots the broken pieces are proof we destroy them to make a mock sceen of an act acually happing.

Theres a fine line between whats real and whats not and who determies where that line is .

We have all been having to much terror going on and need to understand some folks take there job just a bit to serious and that sometimes they need to really look at whats whats and just maybe this or that could be very innocent.

Well now all how was your day (other than PC) ? mine was boring everytime got ready to start something we would get more rain just long enough to bring that to an end ofr a while.

Hey zoe I'll Have a large ice water don't want to hurt whoo evers tab to bad

Good evening all -

Wow! So this is what I get for being absent for so long... 20+ pages to read?????Shock [:O]

Anyways, just a quick stop in to let everyone know I am still alive and well. Been very busy at work (I'm a 1 man shop now till next February) and I have been putting in o/t. Too bad I don't get paid for it.Sad [:(]

Not much to report on any front other than to say that I have a camera now and if the pics I took today come out good, I'll post them for all to enjoy.

I hope everyone has a good weekend. I'm certainly going to try, but not sure if I will as the Red Sox lost the day game today 12-4 and are lossing the night cap 5-2 in the bottom of the 2nd.

Well, take care and I'll try to stop in over the weekend!

Pc, Boy some of the guys around here sure are mean(all though I wouldn't mind a piece of the action on the trains ,only kidding). I can't believe this is happening in our country. I'm all for fighting terrorism but lets not go to far over or our freedom is lost. I could get on a political band wagon but I promised myself I wouldn't, so I'll leave it there. I will pray for a good out come on that trespassing fiasco. Good luck to you.

Evening Gang: I went to my not so local hobby shop with my friend. He's the one that had his knee replaced a couple of weeks ago. It's good for him and gets him out from under foot. His wife owes my for two now. I got a New River mine kit and he picked up a Walthers pullman sleeper. I'm going to get a Glacer Gravel and bash the two into an iron mine and a bennificiating plant. Ron said that he has the hopper from his New River mine that he isn't going to use so that will be for another loading facilityBig Smile [:D]

I called Walthers Wednesday and checked on the ore cars. The latest word is that they have been shipped and are enroute. I just hope that they arn't on that container ship up around Alsaka that is in danger of sinking. That would be just my luck. Eight Ball [8]

Well I've doctored my tooth and taken some non-percription pain pills so I'm ready for bed.

My Best to everyone and have a Good Night.

A drive-in window stop this evening folks.Laugh [(-D]  Our daughter, who has not been well all week collapsed in a drug store today while picking up a prescription.  She’ll likely spend the night in emergency where the 911 responders delivered her.  The kids are OK with friends.  We will know more in the morning, especially as the blood work results should be in by then. All a bit of a concern.

I'm soo glad that security isn't as tight here in Australia, I can take photos on station platforms and everything without a hint of someone asking me what I was up to!! I normally just tell the station attendant my intentions and they are fine, they just say stay behind the yellow line!! Whistling [:-^]

Good evening all!

Just a cup of coffee please Zoe.  Thanks.

Just got back from my parents.  I love them dearly but my Mom smokes like a stove.  So I'm just finishing washing all the clothes and Febreezing all the luggage.  Unfortunately, at 75, Mom ain't changing her ways.

Lisa : For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in themThere now you don't have to go looking.Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

PC : Sorry to hear about your problems.  As I was reading your saga, I unfortunately could see where it was going.  Welcome to the post 9/11 world.  The railroads really don't care about you but they need to respond to the threat warnings they get from DHS.

OH, and for those of you who like to start calling the USA the next NAZI Germany.......Please stop.  We're not even close.  If you would take a look at the British and French version of the their Patriot Act you would think the ACLU wrote the US version.

The problem the railroads, airlines and sea ports face is how to meet numerous threats with limited resources.  From the airline perspective, we know what should and could be done but no one wants to pay for it.  And the payer will be the airline passenger through higher ticket prices.  Considering that railroads have 500 times more land to cover than the airlines, I could not imagine the cost to do all that could be done to secure the railroads.

For all the bonehead things DHS has done, they have also done some real good work.  But then that wouldn't be has much fun to report.  There are some new technologies that are now in the testing phase that should end certain restrictive rules but first implementation is two to three years away.

Finally, no real secret here.  Raids on various terrorist camps have turned up pictures of targeted sites.  Railfanning can produce the exact same types of pictures.  Given the current environment, can you blame security for getting bent out of shape?  Hopefully, common sense will prevail and all charges will be dropped.

Good early morning all, coffee Janie please.
Been up since 2, can't sleep again, this is starting to get tiring. Got rain in the forecast again today, but tomorrow soppose to be nice.

STEVE, they've been havin warning on TV bout these newer batterys catchin fire, and I agree on the stuff made in China, but theres not much a person can do. Most every thing you buy anymore has parts from over there. Don't know why our gov let that crap in.

RYAN, don't know bout the Nzi part, it sure begining to sound like some thing from a WW2 movie and marshall law, but I've been saying that , since they made it legal stop you in road blocks and such for no good reason, then you have to prove your doing nothing wrong.
BTW, grill up some boneless pork chops with a season salt and sage rub.

PC, sounds like you had a less than enjoyable rail fan trip. Thank god it's not that bad round here. Don't know why some people have to take their jobs to such extreme, guess those kind of people  don't have the smarts for anything else. like some body else said, might not hurt to look into getten  a lawyer.

RT sorry I missed your call last night, I may try n give ya hollers later today today, if I can find your #. Put it up so i wouldn't loss it, big mistake.

JP, good to hear from your, looking forward tosome pics.

DER, we'll be thinking of your daughter, hope all goes OK

Got the corn on done yesterday, ended up with 19 bag off the cob and 6 bags ear corn. Even got to work on the layout some, do't look like I got much done, but getting closer to making a big differance afor long. Mother said we're canning relish today, won't gey much of any thing else done till thats finish.
Think I'll go try n lay down a spell

Morning all!

Haven't slept well the last couple of nights due to recent events.  I'm not so upset about what might happen, that's in the hands of God and I trust Him completely.  I just find myself uneasy when people don't understand something I've done or said, you know?  Oh well, I guess I'll get my chance to fix that later.  I just hate that people have a misconception of me in the meantime.

Zoe, How about a good breakfast this morning?  I can use it!  You decide, I'll eat whatever you put in front of me.

Hey, a mexican omlet, thanks Zoe!  You're the greatest!

Der,

I'd like you to know that your daughter and family have been prayed for and that will continue.  That's a scarry thing.

As to deleting the thread, that'd be OK.  I don't think that it's gotten out of hand and warrents that, but if that's the action that the leadership of this forum wants to take, so be it.  I'm actually quite happy with the way that basically everybody has responded to that thread.  Nobody flew off the handle and went completely haywire, which is always a possibility when something like that gets posted.  I even hesitated posting it for that reason.  I knew in the CS here that cool heads would prevail, but out in the big room things can get freaky sometimes, you know.  But in this case it seems that most everybody has been pretty levelheaded about it all.  It does kind of skirt the politics issue though.  But it's very train related and a good warning to others.  I suppose in that sense it has it's usefulness.

All,

Well, I don't think I'll go railfanning this morning like I usually do on Saturdays.  Don't quite know why (Whistling [:-^]), but it just doesn't hold the same charm that it once did for me.

I think I'll just go surf the web for a while.

Prayers go out for all the needy (that's everyone!).

Later!

Philip
