Morning folks , just a quick passing throuhg for me today.

PC -Man that tale truly sucks for you , one does not expect such treatment in your own country. Such are the times we live in though I'm affraid.I'm sure that the apology will go along way to avoiding any further unpleasantries , espeacially given the reaction of the city police officer.I'm just glad that similar things don't happen here in Canada. Mind you we stay to the station plateforms asnd the public bridges etc. Most of the RR's up here won;'t give yard access permission anymore, more  for safety of the crews and photgraphers than for anything else ( alot of RC switchers used up here now )We'll pray for you and hope that the best comes out of it.

Der-I'm sorry to hear about your daughter's difficulties. Hopefully they get to the bottom of it soon and she can get on with her daily routines. We'll keep her in our thoughts and prayers.

Well folks like I said just a quick one today, heading on into the big smoke to work, catch everyone later.

Good afternoon all -

PC - Sorry to hear about your experiences at the local railyard. I wish I could say that my experience yesterday was just as eventful so you could have company in that situation, but I can't. What I can tell ya is that I went to the rear parking lot of the local Tractor Supply Center yesterday afternoon and got some shots of a eastbound CSX intermodal on the passing siding about 10' from the lot. As the lead engine past, the engineer waved at me.

As for those pics, unfotunately the camera is a film one and not digital. Plus, it was the 1st few pics on the new roll so it will be awhile before I get the roll developed and pics posted. But, once I do, I'll provide links to them.

Der -  Thoughts and paryers and well-wishes for your daughter and family. Hope all is well.

OK all, time for me to go and watch my Red Sox loose another one to those bums from the Bronx.

Take care!

Hunter - When we met in January of 2000, you were just a 6 week old pup who walked his way into this heart of mine as the only runt in the litter who would come over to me. And today, I sit here and tell you I am sorry we had to put you down. It was the best thing for you and also the right thing to do. May you now rest in peace and comfort. Love, Dad. 8 June 2010

I love you and miss you Mom. Say hi to everyone up there for me. Rest in peace and comfort. Love, John. 29 March 2017

I'm counting down the days till my birthday.... 3 days...(not including today)

Then I'll be able to do lots of MRR stuff.

One problem: I only asked for money for my layout, and I guess I'll have around $300.
Either I buy Scenery, or the new athearn big boy. I can't choose which one to pick.

(Or I could buy a digitrax Zephyr and a decodor... Or that BLI MT 73...)

Happy Birthday Hoople.Happy B-Day [bday] So how old does that make you?

It's about time to head for the house. I've got to make a couple of stops on the way. First at the lhs to pick up a Glacer Gravel and then at Verision to find out why folks who are calling me are told to dial 1 first.

Thanks everyone for your kind thoughts and prayers for our daughter. This is very much appreciated. Seems she had a 15 minute Grand Mal seizure with a possible concussion. Probable cause; not taking a calcium supplement, as it makes her nauseous.  It’s a high dose too, so it must be like eating bricks just to get it down, and it's every day...Yuk!!Evil [}:)]Thumbs Down [tdn]

<>Now out of ICU, and should be home Sunday.  We’ll probably bring the g-kids down here on Tuesday for as long as it takes for her to get on her feet.  Not Monday, as they have their hearts set on going to the local “ Exhibition”; one even getting a pt job on a farm to pay for the extra rides she wants to take!  Not as grand as the Royal Queensland, OZJim, but then the Town of Truro hasn't the same resources.Clown [:o)]

In consequence of all this, and Kris not being too well just now either, nor her mom,(although both are on the mend) very little in the way of mmr these days.Disapprove [V]

Hello all,

Not much to report from down here SOB.  Spent a lot of time out at the orange grove this week.  It's hot as all get out down here, and humid too.  None of this "dry heat" stuff down here.

PC, really sorry to hear about your bad experience railfanning.  No great words of wisdom or advice, just a little empathy from here.  Btw, looks like your thread out on the main forum has been deleted.

derJohn, sorry to hear about your daughter.  Hope she gets her meds straightened out.

Unfortunately, the Boston Red Sox have had their butts handed to them by the hated Yankees in three games.  Dropped both ends of a doubleheader yesterday, 12-4 and 14-11 (set a record for the longest 9 inning game in baseball history).  And today they went down in flames 13-5.   Sad [:(]   I'm getting an early jump on "penance" (as opposed to "pennant") season.  Wink [;)]

Hasta luego

Evening Gang: I picked up the Gracer Gravel kit tonight. I'm going to makes copies of the kit parts as they are on the sprues. Then I can past them on poster board and cut out and change as needed. I'll use these to work out the final kit bash. I figure that I can get 2 maybe 3 different mines out of the 2 kits and some extra odds and ends.

Ed: I guess you are kind of tropical down there. So how are the oranges doing? I'm still watering the trees. We've lost one good size oak and may loose another. I've got the sprinkler going on the second one. I'll keep it going tonight so the ground gets a good soaking. Than I'll water every night to keep the ground moist for awhile.

I'm off to bed.

Good Night All

Good evening to all, clody day here today but very humid, rain is falling now as a front approaches with a LOW to bring rain all day tomorrow, downpours in some areas. It is needed as the ground is powder dry.

Today was spent mostly working at my #1 son's house doing some electrical wiring. He doesn't like to go into the main panel, as most people don't, so dad had the honors. It is a small 60 amp service with fuses and 60 amp cartridge fuses for the mains. No darn room to work in the box, and of course if I pull the mains, the whole house goes dark and I can't see to work in the basement. Flashlights don't give enough light when your working on a "live" 220V 60 amp main panel with exposed feeders, sooooo I had to work on the wiring "live" and be reallllllll careful.

DER JOHN: I am happy to hear that your daughter is doing better, and they know the cause which is even more relieving. BTW, why does she need such a high dose of Calcium? Ed's OJ in the Blue cap comes fortified with extra Calcium and Vitamin D to boot !!!

STEVE: I agree Steve, some of these guys get so carried away with a little authority, so much so that "Common Sense" get booted right out the window!! BTW, how are you feeling?

Thanks for the heads up Ed.  I noticed it was gone too.  It looked like it was getting to be a political debate when I looked at it this afternoon.  I posted on there to tell everyone to keep it on topic.  I checked back a few minutes ago and it was gone.  Oh well.  I edited my earlier post here in the coffee shop and deleted the story as I'm not sure why it was killed in the big room.  It might have been because of the political angle.  But I hadn't really thought about it, but it is an open and active case, so maybe the management deleted it for that reason.  Anyways, I don't want to cause any trouble to the forum or this coffee shop, so I deleted it in the coffee shop myself.

Der, good to hear everyone is on the mend.  Prayers are continually going out for you and yours.

Oh, and don't worry about the tab on this one.  I've got it!

Goodnight all!

Good evening all!

Just a cup of joe please Zoe.  Thanks.

Der : I just discussed the calcium problem with my wife. She is a Registered Dietitian. I don't know how much calcium your daughter needs to take but there is a calcium supplement called Viactiv.  No chalky taste.  It comes in flavors: Milk Chocolate, Chocolate Mint, Orange Cream, Strawberry Cream and Carmel.  It suppose to be a big breakthrough for those who need calcium in their diets.  Go to www.viactiv.com for more information.

Ok so today my son officially turns me into an old geezer.  I've been beating my head against a brick wall with this DCC stuff and the little snot manages to learn in 30 minutes what took me two days.Eight Ball [8]  Then he starts in on the graying of my sideburns!!  So when he asked how did get gray hair, I had no choice but point to one side and these gray hair are by him and the other side is from his brother.Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]  I love my kids.......that's why they are still alive.

Tomorrow we are going to Steamtown.  It is the first family outing this summer.  I know the boys are going to have a blast.  I just hope the rain holds off.

Good night and have a great day tomorrow.

Yeah, "tropical" it is!  And even though this year hasn't (yet) seen as much rain as normal, we've still had enough that the grove is doing fine, even without a watering system.  When we transplanted the pishtachio trees the other day the ground was dry on top but moist just a few inches down.

Off to bed.

DER sorry to hear about your daughter. My prayers go out to the family

P.C. WOW sorry to hear about that whole mess. I think it stincks (the laws) but I do understand why they have them now. I dont agree but I uunderstand..

Im not retiring from the Navy. I wouldnt mind it. But I am leaving with 8 years left. I guess its not the same Navy as I joined 12 years ago. And like I had said it was time for me to move on. I want to be a full time dad. They just extended our out to sea time to 5 years. That with the pay and benny's being cut buy the time I would have retired I wouldnt be makeing anything that would be worth staying in.

ANYWAYS...

Had a great day out with the family today went to Williamsburg to do some shoping and eating. If any of you get a chance to go to williamsburg I would take it. I love it there. I went out and bought a nice camera so I can do some railfanning (I hope) A lot of CSX and NS around here.

I hope you guys have a nice Sunday and I hope to catch up with you guys later.

Mornin all, farmers special, OJ, coffee please Janie,

Another wet morning here, still have some lite rain falling, suppose to end some time today. Hope so got things to do. We got most the relesh canned yesterday, well Mother did, she volentered me to watch KC, while they took Leroy shopping for school clothes. He's sure is happy bout going to school, his first year. Don't know how he will do, it's the first time away from famaily and he doesn't know any body there, might get interesting for a few days.

PC, the only thing I can tell you is , don't worry to much bout what other people think. It only cause's headaches and sleepless nights, they're going to think what they do, no matter anyhow,  found that out  a long time ago. It'll all work out in the end anyway.

DER, glad to hear your daughter is doing betters, and the problem wasn't to bad. We're still keeping ya'll in our thoughts.

GUMBY, I've been an old geezer for years according to the grandkids anyway. Kinda proud of surviving long enough to be one, enjoy it.

Time for some Sunday pics, from up to Monticell Railway museum. After we our ride, we drove up so, we didn't have to worry bout catching the last train to town. First engine we saw was a Tank engine

Next an 0-6-0,  then a 4-6-0, both waiting restoration

Then, we seen seem this setting in front of the shop.

Turns out it was the old boiler off a 2-8-0, beening restored. this one shows it setting on the frame

I had some more pics inside, but for some reason, none came out good enough to post. Nothin really planned for today, do know Mother going to get some peaches we got into the freezer not much else. Think I'll go play in the train room awhile. Hope ya'll has a good day

Just a quick drop in, I got a PM email from Der John with a recipe request. First time checking email since Friday, so here is the Garlic Herb Broiled Shrimp recipe:

Garlic Herb Broiled Shrimp

Ingredients

2 lbs.    Shrimp, 30 count size peeled and de-veined with tail on, thawed and drained

¼ lb     Butter, melted

1 cup    Olive oil

1 bulb   Fresh Garlic, minced (about 2-3 tablespoons)

½ tbsp  Fresh basil, chopped

½ tbsp  Fresh sage, chopped

½ tbsp  Fresh thyme, chopped

½ tbsp  Fresh rosemary, chopped

1 tsp     Garlic salt (or to taste)

1 tsp     Ground cayenne pepper or Cajun spice mix (or to taste)

Procedure

Have the shrimp ready and in a large bowl.

In a separate bowl combine the melted butter and olive oil, and then add the fresh chopped garlic, fresh chopped herbs, and add salt and pepper and stir well to mix. (Adjust the salt and pepper to your own taste preference)

Pour the melted butter olive oil herb mixture over the shrimp in the bowl and stir well to coat all the shrimp evenly.

Preheat broiler and place rack within 6 inches of heating element or broiler flame.

Place the shrimp onto a flat baking sheet pan and spread the shrimp evenly within the pan.

Place the shrimp in the pan under the broiler and turn then pan after 4-5 minutes for even cooking. When shrimp appear pink and done or after another 2-3 minutes remove them from the broiler.

Transfer the shrimp and all the juices to a serving platter, and serve with warm crusty bread. The herb butter makes a great bread dipping sauce.

Enjoy!

*Note: I like my shrimp a bit spicier so I do add more salt and spice mix to the garlic butter herb mixture.

Cheers,

Ryan

Hey guys! Wasn't in here yesterday because I had a meeting of my model railroad club. I set up my module with the layout we are going to be displaying at a show in Monroe, Wis. at the end of September. Everything worked well, and things are all set in motion for the show. Now my last task it to get the motor for the turntable installed and working, and I'll be all set to go. Should be a lot of fun.

Good afternoon to everyone, I hope everyone is enjoying their Sunday ( remember the thank God for all that we have guys and gals, and to bring healing to all those who are not 100% in good health )

The day started off muggy, heavy overcast, drizzle, now the sun is out the Dew Point is 72F ( muuuuggggy ) and the temp is rising fast now at 77F. With an approaching cold front, now that the sun is out, that spells STORMS for sure with downpours.

ED: I heard that the Global Warming forecast says that if the CO2 levels do not reverse real soon, all of Mexico is going to turn into a desert climate by the year 2050, with conditions becomming dryer each year from NOW. I hope that isn't so, that will be the end of all the crops for sure...bad news mon ami !

PC: Phil, what you need is Sandisk Extreme III Flash Card. Even if the pics get erased, you can get them back !!!! Go to Sandisk online and check them out, or, your local Circuit City or BestBuy Dept stores.

DUCE: Ahhh Colonial Williamsburg. I was there back in the early 90's for a week at a Safety training course when I worked for Digital Equipment Corp. What a beautiful area that is, we loved it !!

NOAH: Good luck at the show Noah, let us know the details when you get to the CS.This will be the last "fling" for you I imagine, as school must be starting in a week or so?

INCH53: Mike!!!! You took all those RR pictures? And Homeland Security did not arrest you? LOL You must have an 800 MM lense so that you can get all the close-ups from 5 miles away!!! PC, better take some lessons from Mike !! LOL

LISA: Your making great progress, I wish I were at the stage. I got caught up with weeding the veggie gardens two of them we have, each is about 100 feet X 100 feet, so it keeps me busy, and then there is the "great Garage Cleanup" project still underway......someday soon I hope. In the meantime, I enjoy what all you folks are doing.

RYAN: WOW does that recipe sound GOOOOOD!! Man I am hungry now, I think I'll go eat dinner. I copied that recipe, and we are going to try it out real soon. All credits given to Ryan Boudreaux, Chef Extraordinaire of course!!

Time for lunch, see you guys later...

Good Afternoon, Chloe - a cup of coffee and a nice hot fudge sundae with a brownie under that, please! And if Ryan has left any of those shrimp on the ‘barbie’ (so to speak), I’ll try a few of those, too! Dinner [dinner]

Thanks, SteveB., for the update on Fergie’s travels - sounds like he could run for office, if he keeps up all that handshaking and kissin’ the babies in all the towns!  And Steve, are you sure they didn’t use a jackhammer around the edge on your nasal surgery? If it’s like some I’ve heard about, they pack you full of cotton or gauze right after the surgery for (what seems like) an eternity. Hopefully, yours was NOT like that. Oh, thank you for clearing up my questions about exercise and diet. I’ll take a copy of it with me when I go for my checkup next month. Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

Dick, good to hear they let you drive that beautiful van. Of course, they’ll have to enlarge your parking spot out front of your store, don’t you think? Wink [;)] I think you might be getting some of our weather from the other day. We had that muggy, rainy or hot, rainy or hot stuff, too.

Trent, good to have your newly found Digitrax knowledge available. I may want to call you soon and chat after you get off work. Smile [:)] Sounds like you have a good boss, if you’ve received two raises (so far...)! Thumbs Up [tup]

Luc, enjoyed your attorney joke! Laugh [(-D] Shall I ‘e’ you my lawyer joke collection? Wink [;)]

OzJim - great pics from your railfanning trip! Thumbs Up [tup] I know I learned a bunch just reading the discussion about the signals. That’s an area that’s mostly a mystery to me (other than occupancy block signals). I just have an older Kalmbach book for my info on signals. And since I think I got here a bit late, belated Happy B-Day [bday] to you!

DerJohn, you’re right about SteveB. having the most work in quickest time award - I’d forgot about seeing his pics of the layout for his kids! (I’d forgotten about the volcano in his backdrop, too!) That’s a funny “Blessing” you have on the island - Do you have many Irish there? It sounds about like some Irish blessings I’ve heard... Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg] Pass along my congratulations to Kris for us - I’d not realized your CFO was a published writer! Bow [bow]Bow [bow] - and belated congratulations on your & your bride’s anniversary. Smile [:)] I was glad to hear that your daughter is doing better - can they find another way for her to get her calcium that doesn’t cause her nausea (like that Viactivia or whatever that was mentioned)? Will be keeping her in my prayers.Angel [angel]Angel [angel]

Lisa, you continue to make good progress on your layout - way to go!Thumbs Up [tup]Yeah!! [yeah] On mine, one nice thing (my RR is set in the Southwest) is that there's less scenery to 'plant'...Wink [;)] (But I will need a couple of tunnels, I expect.) Best wishes with your home schooling this school year.

PC, nice shots of the Fisher station and train - looks like a GP7 (or 9) to me. Heck, I’d be willing to pay $6.00 to ride in that business car! Yeah!! [yeah] Is your area always that busy on the weekends (railroad stuff)? I think I’m jealous! Wink [;)] And was that SW (what? - 6?)? That’s their big guns? Shock [:O] Even the GP7 would have more than that, I’d think.Wink [;)] Will be praying for a good resolution to your situation on the railfanning incident. As you said, He's in control of the bigger picture.

So Ryan, about that recipe - on the spicy scale of 1 (guaranteed not to offend or burn any taste buds) to 10 (OHMIGOSHWHEREARETHEWATERBUCKETS!!!), where would you rate that recipe? I’m curious, but my taste on ‘spicy’ starts to run out about where Taco John’s tacos are... Wink [;)] I copied down the recipe to possibly try, anyway. Good luck on your planning for the next phase on your layout. (Let us know what you do with the window - I’m hoping to eventually get a 2-bedroom apt. and have a larger layout in the 2nd bedroom). As for the PDF downloads, I haven’t bought the video ones, but I have purchased a few of the MR ones on how-to (scenery, logging railroads. etc.) and am happy with them. I don’t know if I’ll enter the layout planning contest, but I’ll be interested in whatever magazine MR/Kalmbach’ll publish from them (you know they will, right?...).

Congrats on becoming a civilian soon, Duce! If you have questions on cattle farming, you might ask Paul B. - maybe he could tell you how to get Shell to lease some of your land, too! Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg] It’ll be good to be able to see more of the wife and your new young’un, I’m sure! Of course, if you’re going into cattle farming, maybe you won’t see them as much. I have some friends who have a dairy farm they run with one brother’s family and their parents (now semi-retired - the parents), and that’s a real time-eater!  And boy, that’s amazingly quick on selling your house!

Chuck and Kathy, good to hear you two are doing well. Of course, you know we want to see that sawmill. I for one, am very interested, since I hope to have a small logging branch on my layout (eventually), and can use all the pics (and if you have ‘em, manufacturers, part numbers, etc.) you can post - better yet, email me! Yeah!! [yeah] It does sound like you’ve been putting some very nice detail work into that sawmill.Thumbs Up [tup]

Sign - Welcome [#welcome] Frisco Pete (Martin)! Have a cup of your favorite beverage (hot or cold) on me. Think you’ll find the Shop here to be a friendly place - just tell Chloe or Zoe (our virtual servers) what you want to drink or eat.

Hang in there, Mr. Mom - I mean HEdward! That’s one messy

I heard that the Global Warming forecast says that if the CO2 levels do not reverse real soon, all of Mexico is going to turn into a desert climate by the year 2050, with conditions becomming dryer each year from NOW. Could be, who knows?  In any case, there's always irrigation.  Look what they've done with Israel.  I'm all not that concerned with 2050 anyway.  Junior will be on his own by then and I'll either be dead or too old to worry about it.  Fortunately, we should be among the last areas to dry out.  With the gulf on our east and the mountains to our west we usually wring a good deal of whatever rain is available out of the air currents down here.

Not to minimize the problems of warming, just that I don't get too worked up about things that I really can't control.

Afternoon all -

Just a quick stop in today. I just got in from spending a hour or so over at the local TSC parking lot again, and this time, was able to us up the rest of the film shooting a westbound intermodal and a eastbound Amtrak. Then proceeded over to the otehr side of the village and got another shot of the westbound intermodal, as well as some of the CSX MoW building, the old NYC roundhouse, as well as some of the tracks.

My only question is this... what's the best site to get a account at for my pics so I can post them online for everyone to see?

Ok all, need tog et going now and get some things done here at the apartment. Some day, I'll even get some pics of the CFO, step-son, cats, and birds on the site so you all can 'meet' the family.
