Afternoon all, coffee Zoe

I went to the heart doc while ago and got the all clear. Heart seems to be in good shape, no blockages. All they said was to keep the stress down and exercise [ which i do ]. *** , I don't worry bout my weight, As a matter of fact the doc's say it wouldn't hurt to put a littile back on. I'm down to 149.

Latest on Sue is , there is no major heart damage, but some of the mucsles are weak. They were going to try and take her off the breathing machine today slowly and see if she can breath on her own. If not the girls are going to have to make a decision as to what next. Saddest part is, today her grandsons 8th birthday.
We're suppose to go over to Terre Haute tonight and planning on going by the hospital.

Jerry , Think that was PC's card. You'll have to ask him if you can use it. Hope Sally's dads getting along better

RT , sorry to hear bout the driving part. You never know what will come along for you now though. Luved the joke

DnigOX , Good luck on the pics. If you get some good can ya post them.

Waltersrail enjoyed the link

PC , When we put the septic tank in here, we did a lot praying. Praying it didn't rain till we got water in it before the rains came in and float. The prayers worked

You know, I asked the girls if they had my card behind the counter the other day, and they said "It was here but we can't seem to find it now". By now my credit score is showing a negetive number (I didn't know that was possible) so go ahead, throw it on the card. After all, what's it going to hurt now?

That sounds like kind of a nasty prayer![:p]

I hope Sue does well on her test today. I'd be a nice Bday present.

Good Afternoon Clubbers,

Need a Coffee, make it a triple!

RT - Sorry to hear your plight, I know how tough that can be, sometimes these are changes we don't want to see, but they do work out for the better depending on your attitude.

I loved the joke!

der5997 and everyone else - IMS biller = Intermodal Services Waybilling - I make waybills from Bills of Lading and correct waybills sent via fax from the Ramps (Terminals) including Haz-mat. I also do Carload billing from time to time. I'm training for about three weeks then I'll be able to do it all by myself (isn't that special!!!).

I owe pix from sometime ago...just never got around to it, so it seems so long ago!

There can very busy times, and very slow times depending on the Ramp I'm doing that day...so I can check in a little more often. [zzz][zzz][zzz][zzz][zzz]

OH OH, I need another triple Espresso Coffee (slow day)!

Hi Gang: I have the pleasure to report that it is raining. It started last night and rained about an inch +. It stopped for the most part untill about 4pm just as Mary Ann and I called it quits on cleaning up the lumber piles. Great timing. Right now it is getting ready to rain hard again. I'm sitting here a little damp from the rain getting ready to hit the shower. I think that Mary Ann wants to go out for dinner.

Luc: What's lost after the hearing when you get hit by lightning? I've already shot mine.

Der: That's a great idea on the track cleaning car. I'm going to get one of those but in Horribly Oversize, of course.

JLJ( Jerry): Welcome to the coffee shop. That question would get alot more answeres in the regular forum. Altho there is a fellow here that seems to have an answere for everything. ED your shot. Anyway how are you doing? We are a very friendly bunch here and always like to have someone new come in. We are also a very nosey bunch. So that said, tell us alittle about yourself. What scale are you doing, what era, etc. I hope to see you in often.

Well I'm going to hit the showers. Good Afternoon to You All

Ooof, that's a tough one. Probably had no one single shade or color. Take a look at this link from RRPictureArchives.net. It gets you to the first (of 25) pages of thumbnails of C&O locomotives. Not all are steam. You can click on any one to see it larger. From the ones I looked at, it seems as if black was as common as any other color. Maybe graphite on some.

You could be better off to check out the C&O Historical Society website:

They have even more photos and lots of other C&O data.

Good evening folks, looks like my round! Flip, what will you have?: A hot chocolate would be about right for the weather outside right now! Blowing a gale with rain sort of mixed in as I was on my after dinner walk. [V] There was an article I came across today I thought I’d pass on. It may apply to some of our senior and/or physically challenged CS patrons in the US. Here’s the URL

Jerry: I’d be busier on the layout if I didn’t have the “to do” list feeling its oats and getting a bad case of Spring Fever![(-D]

Our daughter had a similar situation a few years back with epileptic attacks. Scary in themselves, but also nixed the driving until it was sorted out. Little kids at the time, too. We’re pulling for you.[angel]

MORNIN ALL, how bout some irish coffee Zoe
Cool, foggy an damp here today, suppose to better later in the day.
Went n seen Sue last night, she seems to be some better. They’ve taken her of the breathing machine, not completely; Its still helping to make her do it. They still didn’t think she could do it all on her own yet.
Thanks for the prayers, I know their helping

RT , sounds like a bum deal to me on driving. I know what it’s like to depend on some one else to haul you round. I can’t drive, but for short trips anymore.

ED , Thanks for the C&O links

Dekruif , Not a bad weathering job on the cars.

Trent B , Hope Emily gets better soon, prayers for her

Chuck , Sounds like a layout plan to me. Prayers for both you n Kathey.

Don’t really have any plans for the day. I am going in the train room this morning and cleaning, the layout seems to have become a catchall lately. I will be out in the yard this afternoon, if the weather improves. Not much of anything else going on round here.

Good morning CS, and happy Friday!

Wow, got to catch up from page 1018, so here goes.

Well, gas has topped the $3.00 a gal level for premium and regular is around $2.95/gal here in North Carolina, it might be a little higher here because NC has a .34 per gallon state tax. I will not be surprised with gas reaches the $4.00/gal level by 2007. Bio-diesel fuel is looking better every day, and currently it sells for $3.50/gal here in the Raleigh area, so when regular gas goes above that level there should be an even stronger push for alternative fuel sources. Grow more corn, America!

Most of the pollen has fallen of the trees now, so we might actually get to keep a freshly washed car clean for more that a day or two. Spring is here!

My solar powered temp/humidity/pressure gauge has been on a slow power death again and this morning the LCD was so faint I had to get 4 inches away from it to see the output. Still has the right time and temp, but cannot really see anything. So I moved the whole device to a window and now the solar panel is facing directly outside. We’ll see after work today if that made a difference. I might have to rework the whole contraption this weekend, maybe extend the wires so the solar panel can sit in the window all the time. Oh well, back to the drawing board!

QUOTE: Posted by greyfox1119, RYAN If you are not getting enough charging current, you may have to place a second solar panel in PARALLEL with the first panel. This will keep the voltage the same, but double the current available to recharge your batteries which will run down at night, and during stormy days with no sunlight.

***, I will have to look at that option if I am going to re-wire the device. Thanks for the input!

A friend of mine from New Orleans is flying into RDU this afternoon for an alumni event at Duke this weekend, so we might catch up with him and his wife if they can get away from the events. He is an arborist and owns a tree service in New Orleans, and he graduated from Duke in 1970 with a Masters Degree in Forestry.

Ya know, you’re right about that. Good, that will give the FCVN something to ship during the off season (orangely speaking). The bananas are also a crop that produces throughout the year (and a key ‘smoothie’ ingredient, I might add) that gives us some steady base load.

Hey, Ed, Thought you might appreciate this, I made a batch of cheese enchiladas last night with the aid and assistance of my 10 year old son, Benjamin. Wow! They were some good too. Ben really got into the whole thing, and I really enjoyed making them with him, we bonded well last night. He helped make the cheese filling, and dipped and rolled the corn tortillas too! I even made the enchilada sauce from scratch, spicy too. Oh, and I found another avocado soup recipe, I made it last week, it is a cold soup. Great for one of those hot summer days coming up soon! Also, I agree bananas are always a great smoothie ingredient!

Morning Ken, and thanks for the great tutorial on ballasting! I’m going to save that one for future reference.

Matt, Sounds like you had a great time traveling. Hopefully one day the misses and I can make it to Europe and visit. I have a friend that lives in Cadiz, Andalusia, Spain. He teaches English as a second language to wealthy Spanish businessmen.

RT, Thanks for the heads up on that one! I have taken much of the BEER and WINE antidote but it does not seem to have much effect on the level of WORK virus that keeps coming my way. Oh, well, I like the Merlot and Pinot Noir antidotes anyway.

luct, Really enjoyed viewing your photo bucket site, what a great collection of GIF files. Thanks! That trivia quiz was fun too! One word, huh!

Hey John Wood, Is that a typical sun tanning duo found in Canada? Looks like they were cured from the WORK virus. Hopefully they won’t drift too far away from the beer antidote purchasing location.

Hey Bill, Thanks again for the coffee and donuts! Yum!!!

[#welcome] all the new faces to the CS!

And prayers go out to all that are in a time of need!

Dekruf Great job on weathering! And I especially like your Southern loco in your sig.

Going to the Wake Forest Herb Festival this weekend, we heard they have a great selection of fresh herb plants for sale. I love fresh basil, parsley, rosemary, thyme, and chives.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Good morning to all, clear skies, but a chilly 47F and breezy to make it feel even cooler. At least that will keep the Mayflies away.

TRENT We hope Emily is feeling better, prayers continue for her.

RYAN The solar panel needs to see enough sunlight so that it can produce enough energy for the batteries. The LCD panel must be drawing more power than the Solar Panel can produce over time, so lets see how moving it to more sunlight helps.

Hi all

Think I might be getting somewhere on the job hunt, our local museum is looking for attendants. 12 month contract, money's not bad, and it should be "a foot in the door" as it were that might lead to bigger things. Just awaiting a response from one of my lecturers who I've emailed to ask if he would be willing to provide a reference.

Tom, It's very odd indeed - Germany and the UK are stuffed with model shops while France has a handful. I've visited one over in Metz (L'Auto-Rail) before now, picked up an LS Models GC coach there. They have a website that might be of interest - try googling "L'Auto-Rail".

Ryan, Spain is a bit unusual from a rail viewpoint as they have a broader gauge than the rest of Europe on most of their network. I think they're trying to build all new lines to standard gauge though. I do know there are Talgo sets on which the wheels can be swapped to handle both gauges. As far as France is concerned it's mainly a case of watching out for the lunatic drivers - they even try to argue with a 3.5ton RV!

Bye for now
