Hey!
Lunch is on me!
Your choices are:
A Turkey Sandwich,
some Salmon,
The Tex-Mex Platter,
or the Surprise Bag,
I don't expect to get rid of a lot of Surprise Bags!

Looks like you're a bit ahead of me. I'll be there soon though!
Philip, looks like Thanksgiving dinner got your energy up for some benchwork! Great start on the layout and nice leveling tool too!
Yeah, I'm all the way around the room now. I need to take a couple more pics. It was kind of sad though yesterday. I needed more wood for framework and so my son and I tore apart the staging yard for the last layout. That was all that was left of it. I knew I was going to have to do it, but it was still kind of tough after all the work that went into it. Now I have pieces of layout EVERYWHERE! But I got the framework wood that I needed! Next is the top deck! Then the helix! (not looking forward to that really)
Turkey soup is in order for tonight’s dinner, using up the left over carcass and mostly dark meat. All the turkey sandwiches and leftovers are finally done too. I think we need to start exercising again, must have gained 10 lbs. this week. We ate up the last of the pecan pie last night too.
Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving Holiday! And now the countdown starts, only 29 days until Christmas.
We started our Christmas shopping and decorating this past weekend too. Went to a “choose and cut” tree farm near Falls Lake and cut down a Leyland Cypress and also got some White Pine garland and a wreath. The Christmas lights and decorations went up on Saturday and Sunday.
We went to the NC State football game Saturday night and watch them get beat by East Carolina University. It was fun though going to a college football night game, cold too!
Philip, looks like Thanksgiving dinner got your energy up for some benchwork! Great start on the layout and nice leveling tool too! Not sure where I saw that before, but that train fire sure was an interesting incident.
Fergie, great news about your dad, just in time for Christmas too!
Inch, another round of great RR photos there, thanks for sharing.
Neal, now that is a good reason to get the F-250. We use the same GPS, slow to respond but it is cheaper method.
Flip, I have one of the tapes, since the move we are still unpacking. I will try to watch it soon and pass it on. Sorry for the delay.
Der John, nice work on the bench window seats, and dinner meal sounds good too! Yep, that photo confirms, just how I like my beef too, medium-rare, yum!
Jim in the Cape, I know what you mean about the holiday diet thing. Make your own pizza party sounds like a fun time.
Cheers,
Ryan

Well good morning everyone!
Hope everyone had a good holiday weekend. I know I did. I got a lot of benchwork done! My son is quite the carpenter!
Now I've got to get ready for the daughters birthday party coming up next.
So hey! How 'bout this weather we're having? Pretty nice for this time of year!
And check this out!
A friend of mine sent this to me:
The Good news:It was a normal day in Sharon Springs, KS when a Union Pacific crew boarded a loaded coal train to head on the long trek back to Salina. The Bad news:Just a few miles into the trip a wheel bearing became overheated and melted off letting the truck support drop down and grind on top of the rail creating white hot molten metal droppings to spew downward on the rail. The Good news:A very alert crew noticed a small amount of smoke about halfway back in the train and immediately stopped the train in compliance with the rules. The Bad news:The train just happened to stop with the hot wheel on top of a wooden bridge built with creosote ties and trusses RULES ARE RULES! Don't let common sense get in the way of a good disaster!
Good Morning All,
Lots of ice on the car this morning put the heat on straight away in the shop as well. I'll have just the coffee as I got a late start this morning. Need to run over to the museum later to drop off my little generator. For the Christmas rides we set our NH caboose on the turntable and this year we will put lights on it and use the little generator to run the lights. Should look cool. I also got the light for the semaphore in the yard fixed and need to put it up before I leave tomorrow morning.
Jerry - Glad you and Sallie had a good Thanksgiving and hope her dialysis goes well today. If we have any extra n gage stuff show up what do you need? the museum layout is a representation of Danbury and its' loop yard in the late Fifties so any rolling stock newer than that is eventually surplussed off.
Hope everyone else is doing ok - good to see DerJohn back amoung us. Time to get to work for me. CUL,J.R.

That's a good one!
To good not to pass on
A blonde pilot decided she wanted to learn how to fly a helicopter. She went to the airport, but the only one available was a solo-helicopter. The instructor figured he could let her go up alone since she was already a pilot for small planes, and he could instruct her via radio. So up the blonde went. She reached 1,000 feet and everything was going smoothly. She reached 2,000 feet. The blonde and the instructor kept talking via radio. Everything was going smoothly. At 3,000 feet the helicopter suddenly came down quickly! It skimmed the top of some trees and crash- landed in the woods. The instructor jumped into his jeep and rushed out to see if the blonde was okay. As he reached the edge of the woods, the blonde was walking out. "What happened?" the instructor asked. "All was going so well until you reached 3,000 feet. What happened then?" "Well," began the blonde, "I got cold, so I turned off the ceiling fan!"
I'll have the lamb chops and a Pepsi.
Just had to go and open my big mouth, huh?
OK, what's it going to be? I'll have a Moxie Chloe. Thanks!

I’ve been reminded that I didn’t wish one and all a ..so now I have.
RT: There was a thing on the radio here the other night to the effect that the death of an elderly person was seldom a tragic event. I think I know what’s meant, but if it is your boss’ time, you’ll miss him I don’t doubt. Praying for him, and for you in the uncertainty of the situation.
the subscription to MR is more than you probally can realize.
Since the way they publish ahead, the front month comes in to Halifax libraries about the 4th or 5th of the current month (Dec ame in on Nov 4th.) In consequence, Nov became available for loan out of the building on Nov 5th. So I’ve got the current month downstairs, even though our local library doesn’t carry it.
Fergie: I’d lost track of your renovations, and had the thought that you were well under way with them.
Another diesel? This must be a sure sign of conversion. I know Cole Harbour isn’t strictly “The Dark Side”, but ……
Dick:
Hey DER JOHN....can I come over for dinner?
JR: Tough on the breakdowns, but I think you called it correctly and closed the season. Glad there wasn’t a personnel accident involved.

Anyone here have a special train they want to see under the tree in a month or so?
CapeJim:
those baskets underneath for storage,
We had been looking for rectangular ones with lids, and couldn’t find a thing that was the right size / price. The Wicker Emporium happened to have a sale on these round ones, so we snapped them up ($12.00 Cnd each, and the small log basket in the very far left compartment was only $4.00!. We had the regular log basket already.
Tea time, and Kris should be back before too long, so I’m outta here.

Well, seems everyone is in quite the uproar over a certain turkey leg.
Please understand that no ill intentions were had on my part. This "greatest of offences" was commited on the understanding that all had had their fill and round two was ready to commence. My bad!
In an effort to keep the peace, I'm offering the following goodwill gesture.
I will offer up a feast fit for a king on Christmas Eve.
Chloe, Zoe, and Flo are to be first in line, followed by Fergie. Then all others are welcome.
The feast will begin around lunch time and last until the last person has had their fill.
Hopefully this gesture will help mend some of the gaping wounds left by my wreckless and insensitive actions.
Are we cool now? Fergie?
