So, summer has begun...What am I going to do with myself? Definitely am going to try to work a bit more. Maybe find a second job if I don't get any more hours at Bose. And of course, there are a few train projects I am going to try to start/finish, for once. And I have to hang a few shelves in my room...And I'm going to try to teach myself Macromedia Flash...And redo my SB Locomotives website...Oh the list goes on...

Gumby: Midnight is like early evening to me...When I'm not working the next day. I should have dropped by last night...3:00am is a very slow time of night though. [:D][:p][;)]

SilverSpike: Ya know, I think that this year of school was the easiest one to get through so far...It went by so quick, and was very enjoyable. That's probably because of my Advanced Computer Applications class...And finally doing something I wouldn't mind doing until I retire. But I'm still happy that SUMMER is here.[^]

Good afternoon everybody...guess what it is doing again here? Yup, another summertime Nor'easter...wind gales at 30 -40 mph, heavy rain over an inch and 2 more to come, then another storm on Friday...no sun predicted until Sunday. At least I get a break from building the " wall of Leicester "

J.R. Have no fear of backfilling JR, we have 24" wide backfill of 3/4" stone from the drainpipe at the bottom behind the wall to within a foot of the top. I shoveled most of it by hand!! Yesterday the backhoe guy showed up and I had him dump the rest behind all the wall that was completed thus far...thank God, my arms were hanging. Now I will have 4 days of rest with all this rain.

INCH53 Mike, nice pics, you do a great job catching the action. Don't you wish you did this in the days of steam? Think about what all that would be worth today $$$$ !!!!

FERGIE How is the audit coming ? Do you need help fixing the crane? I have 4 days off from the wall project with all this rain, if I get the CAT out of Portland, I can be in Yarmouth in about 5 hours from now, how far to where you are?

Hope alls well out in train land for every one today. Mine started off better anyway, woke up n the wife was still in bed, guess the snore strips and Vicks worked.
Got through the ball game last evening with only a few sprinkles.
Also got some good news, if nothing happens, # 1 daughter [Roni] and tribe is coming home July 1st for a few days. Sure be good to see them, wi***he h--- they’d move back here.

Grayfox , according to Mother I can snore any way I sleep, doesn’t make any difference how I lay.

Fergie , I’ll keep my bad day n you keep yours!!!. I’ve never been through one of those audits, but Mother has them twice a year at work, and I want no part. Hope today day goes better.

Flip , I tied you twice n 8 days if I remember right. I think RT’s in the running also.

GMT to bad ya didn’t have your camera. We’ve seen Ringling Bro/Barnum/ Bailey train come though here, but I’ve never had a camera with me either.
Don’t think the headphones would go over to well. She wasn’t happy with my earplug suggestion awhile back.

Good Morning All,
Late start to the day. Drizzly but we got the two rigs and the Excursion launched ok. Hope they have better weather than is scheduled for Vermont this weekend.Just a regular coffee for me this morning.
Got to the train yard after work yesterday and helped move the Little Engine That Could to the turntable to turn it. The SW is still down so it suffered the indignity of being pushed with a bucket loader as it is not self propelled. Later at the museum we noticed the hirailer crew from the Housatonic checking the crossing signals and about half an hour later the Strates Circus train rolled through on it's way to the Danbury Fair Mall. About fifty cars in all -the Housy had all three of their GP38's on for power. I really need to start bring the camera with me at all times, but I'll see if I can get one of the other guys to forward the pics and then post them. Spent the rest of the evening securing track on the HO display.
Enjoyed the piece comparing cars and 'puters. Of course as newer cars get more 'puter power they are starting to develop the same characteristics. On Friday we brought car in running perfectly, shut if off and when restarted had a missfire that after much shirt rending and hair pulling turned out to be a bad ignition module. Fried itself for no apparent reason.
Grayfox - Hope you and your son are putting in plenty of bankrun behind and drain tile through that wall so it doesn't go unstable next time we get all this rain. I'd hate to see you invent the clay glacier.
Inch - Hope today goes better for you. I don't suppose the missus would be amused if you bought her some noise cancelling headphones, eh?

fergie - Don't bring those Tsunamis on the ship! Arctic duty is tough enough already without the high seas.

Nigel: I hadn't thought about the rail line to the load out having to have a slight incline to keep the cars under tension, but it makes sence. It wouldn't do to have slack running in and out during loading.

For anyone interested in heavy machinery the Historical Construction Equipment Association is a great source for information. They have a magazine that comes out 4 times a year. Membership is cheap, if I remember it was $25 for the year.

Opps. Time to check the maintance log and get out in the park.

I suppose I have all the construction drawings for the Train Loadout bin but I am tying to build a layout at the moment so scratch building a bin isn't on the cards at this stage for a modelling oportunity.

One email I did see that was intersting, described the rail approach to the bin needed to be on a slight incline, this was the standard to keep the cars tensioned through the bin.
