nothing going on overhere, it is nice and sunny though and we survived the half inch of snow we were confronted with earlier this week ! [:D][:D][:D][:D]
saw the ordeal some of you were put up with in the news! BRRRRRRRRR !

have been busy refurbishing the workshop downstairs ( I live above my work,and I am getting a second floor basement ! Much safer when your house is build on reclaimed land, some 15 ft below sealevel )

You guys type faster then a bullettrain lately, at least faster as I can pick up after my short vacation. I remember you hitting 5000 last week, count says 5250 allready !

Have been doing a lot of Analoge Reading ( you might remember : ink on paper glued together in a pile, a.k.a. BOOK ) as Bill Mathewson was so kind to send me a copy of the Linn H. Westcott book on John Allen's Gorre and Daphetid Railroad. Full of exiting pictures ! One cool layout that is , very inspiring !

It rained most of the night and it is foggy here this morning, and it’s supposed to rain all weekend. Good to stay indoors and work on the train room painting and sanding.

The Hub Hobby Shop is still open for business. I made a stop in there just a few weeks ago; hit the wallet with about $300.00 of stuff! Some of it not train related though, my son had a Pinewood Derby with Cub Scouts and wanted some stickers and cool add on stuff too for his racecar! His first merit badge as a Boy Scout will most likely be the Model RR since he is already assisting with the layout.

What kind of oranges you growing? We have a small contingent of orange growers in lower Louisiana that grow various citrus including, Satsuma’s, Navels, Grapefruit, Tangerine, Lemons, and Limes.

Morning to all. I am doing something I don't do often,and that is share some of my wifes chocolate chip cookies,and I brought in some sugar free as well(sorry they are store bought).

Luc-I took a fellow co-worker to the hospital one day when he was doubled over in pain,and found out later he had stones. After seeing that I have an idea of what your wife is going through and I hope she gets well very soon.

Do you know how hard it would be to paint it plaid? One consolation, Stephanie thinks it's "CUTE". She says if the M.E.S.S. doesn't like it you can ship it back.

One good thing about the sound not working is it can sneak up on an unsuspecting freight train and bash it's caboose. Of course the big thing right now is the fact that it doesn't run at all. I've got my soldering iron out and have read your post on how to use it so I'm ready to work on the loco. The picture that I took is the good side there are a couple of sags on the engineer side. I had trouble getting the airbrush set. It won't bother you if you run in the direction so all you see is the fireman side. As much as I'd like to get to it today, I've got to go to the scout meeting, conference, symposium, or whatever and teach those guys about MRR.

Good morning coffe clubbers: Another bright clear day, and a bit less cold (I wouldn't say warmer[(-D]) than yesterday. Learned last night at dinner that if we look at the weather in Bar Harbour, Maine, that's what we can expect here in the next day or two. Our weather predominately seems to come from south of the border. I mention this because we also got an email from a friend in Ontario who says that the Canadian environmental people reckon that the Great Lakes are going to continue to be dumped on us as snow for the next few years. That is supposed to explain the drop in lake levels.[V]

Never did get off on Star Gate, sorry. Didn't put enough time into trying to follow it, I guess. brclem, sorry to hear about the truck. Atleast it wasn't a wooden car. Yes, I rode in a wooden car for awhile. There was no top, so you had to choose your travel days in it very carefully.[:D]

As for measurements for wood (2x4, 1x4, etc.) take an half inch (1/2 in.) off of the measurement to get the correct size. So, a 2x4 is actually 1 1/2 x 3 1/2 inches.

Well, made it to Cardiff, trailed round Ikea and arranged to have some stuff delivered (by the time it turns up we may have space to put it!), then on to the important bit (hobby store visit). Came away with a Bachmann HO Doodlebug in CB&Q paint (reduced price - they only had two left!) which seems pretty good, need to get it a decoder as it's having to run as address 00 at the moment and gets parked on an isolated section when not running so as not to damage the motor. Also picked up a couple of very cheap used German HO scale coaches - one Fleischmann and one Roco (the Roco one is a driving trailer for push-pull sets, so it'll be getting a function-only decoder to make the lighting work properly). Wish my brother would get a move on re-decorating his room as he's currently occupying the spare room (aka my train room)!

There may be a low tech, non-custom-decal solution to your Tinkerbell project. There is, or was, a product called Patricia Nimock's Decal-it transfer emulsion. Connoisseur Studios Inc. an Enterprise Company. P.O box 7187 Louisville KY. 40207 A subsidiary of Insilco Home Products. Forms a tough film which binds printing inks into an insolouble plastic decal that can be transfered to almost any suface. Non-toxic. The stuff looks like white glue, and washes up in warm sudsy water, so it may be a material like gloss/matte medium. I doubt white glue itself would work, but haven't tried it. BTW do you know H&R Trains? My neighbour is going down to Florida on Monday and has offered to pick up anything I order at H&R, as she will be staying close by. I emailed them and got no reply, so phoned today. They have nothing on my list![V]

Glad to say the strip lights are now velcroed to the wall,and seem to be OK. Not supper bright, but the best effect yet, and all the budget will allow for that part of the project. I've been able to lead the power cords down a hole cut in the foam beyond the modelled part of thelayout, and everything is plugged in at the work bench level. I plan eventually to hide all that area behind building flatsor scenery of some kind.

Good evening gents.......just arrived home from Springfield and the Big Train show! This was really a sight to behold!! I took a lot of pictures with the 35MM, and when I get the CD back, I will load onto PC and then have one of you experts tell me how to get the pics on the forum.
I never saw so much stuff that was railroad in my life. Every gauge ( yes even Z ), huge layouts from MRR clubs all over New England.

Trolley Bob......you would have gone crazy.....many trolleys and even layout running.

Woodland Scenics was there with all theit landscaping products and also gave hour long demos in the demo area. This was MRR paradise!!!

I spent some serious $$$, but all in good cause, right guys ? There was everything from books, RR route maps, DVD's, VHS tapes, all sorts of RR equipment to purchase, cars and locos of every gauge, tools of every description for MRR, computer programs for running RR's or designing your layouts...I just can't describe it all.
Can you just imagine 3 huge buildings with nothing but RR and MRR stuff?
By the looks of the plates on the cars in the 5 football field size parking lot, they came from everywhere outside NE also.

Luc, we will pray for CFO to tomorrow at church, tell her she has many people pulling for her!!

Brclem...Very sorry to hear about the truck. Did the ignition short cause the starter to keep running causing it to burnout? Normally, once you release the key from START position, this disconnects power to the starter solenoid and this inturn shuts off power to the starter motor. You would have noticed that right away, because once the truck started, and the starter motor was still engaged, it would squeal like two Tom cats.

Time to go play with toys we bought, have a blessed Sunday guys, may God Bless each of you!!

Good Evenin' Everybody,

Today was another good day in the mountains. We did get some ice last night, but it wasn't too bad. The power stayed on and all the trees stayed upright. Nothing to complain about, all things considered. It seemed like a really good day to stay home and off the roads, though, so that's what we did.

I didn't get as much done on the bathroom redo as I'd expected. Cutting and fitting the last few pieces took a lot longer than I'd planned on. But that part is now done, so at least we're making progress.

Der, the gifs are too cool. I really enjoyed them

Ed, I don't have any pictures yet, but I'm using Silflor weed and tall grass material from Scenic Express.It's bonded to a very thin backing material. You just tear it off and glue it down. It's available in several diferent heights and textures as well as different sets of colors for different seasons. I like it really well so far. It seems to drape over and hang more natually than the Woodland Scenics material does. I'm really just getting started with it, so let me get more done and I'll see about some pictures.

Brian, that's too bad about your dad's truck. It's really poor timing. I hope your birthday turns out great anyway.

Silverspike, There's nothing wrong with covering a wide time span. Variety is the spice of life, and besides, it's your railroad.

Big Boy, the modular layout looks good.

Teffy, now that is a cool looking locomotive. Why settle for basic, seen one seen them all freight black?

Another real nice day down here, mostly sunny, [8D] got up in the mid-80’s again. We went out to the orange grove and picked another Blazer load of fruit. Plus we short-cut bringing some back because my M-I-L took her hand juicer out with us and made 5 gallons of juice on the spot.

I see the CPP (Correctness in Posting Police) are out in force again, this time with their “Forum Conduct” post. The usual set of complaints about spelling and grammar errors, posting before searching, overuse of smilies (this is new), posting in all capital letters, whatever. I've got nothing against good grammar and correct spelling, but I'd much rather someone posted, even with errors, than be afraid to post for fear that the CPP would get on them for their errors.

Brian, sorry to hear about the car problems, and even sorrier about your train set. But you can still enjoy the hobby for a while longer as an ‘armchair model railroader’. I know, I did it for years. Between reading model rr books and magazines at the local library, or hanging out on the forums, checking out the hundreds of model railroad or real train websites, or just continuing to plan your future layout, it’s not that you’re exactly out of the hobby. I know that it’s not the same as running your own trains, but it can be time well spent.
