Well Roni and her bunch are on their way back to Ohio, sure miss them already. I think their coming back in Sept., James wants drive in the fall demo derby here. He said ours are better than what they have there, less rules.
The fishing went good yesterday, caught a mess of fish, throwed them back, and one turtle, throwed him on the bank headless. Then went to Kris’s for his annual 4 of July cookout, did it last night, because he has to work for on the 4’th. I got a photo of all the grandkids that where there to post later.

Jim CG , we’ve had to call the cops on the neighbors here before. Last time for letting a 8 yr. Old ride a motor cycle and 4 wheeler up n down the road here un supervised and no helmet. We were afraid he was going to get killed, and it didn’t do any good to talk to his parents.

Paul , don’t fell bad, I heard the last bird I crewed an EC135C tail #305, is now a museum piece too at Wright- Pat. It was the last one to fly Looking Glass. That was the best duty I ever had.

Trent , glad to hear Emily is doing betters, we’ll keep you two in our thoughts.

Ryan , enjoyed the photos, not hard to see where the kids get their looks from.

Bout time for chores, Mother has to go over an enter labor for a couple hours this morning, so every one can get paid. This afternoon, Mother’s wanting to go over to Terre Haute, I’m sure a visit to the LHS will be in order if we go. Thoughts n prayers for all in need

Oh, one more thing... I see Bergie has a 'sticky' on pg 1 about the new 'Trains.com' And I have noticed that a few of our fellow mrr'ers are upset about having to subscribe for some content.
Friday Night, I told the CFO that I am going to start a Trains subscription in addition to my MR subscription. So, now I'll have twice as much info to use for my layout, not that Trains has alot, but it has some useful info for me from time to time and I hate to miss a issue of it as well.

Thanks to all for the well wishes. My in-laws are doing just fine, albeit they did loose some antique furniture and the $1,000.00+ carpeting in their basement. The rains have stopped, but we're still in line for scattered showers and t'storms through Wednesday morning.

And yes Ed, I saw Baseball Tonight on ESPN and saw the highlights from today's game. Too bad the Yanks are killing the Mets right now, 16-5 top of the 6th! [censored]

On the MRR front, all i ahve to report, is that on pg42 of the Aug issue is a fictional layout (LARC) at a guy's place about 3 miles from me. Not that that's important, but what I noticed, is on pg17, is a ad for a Railroad Grapics CD and is sold under the company name of LARC Products w/ the same zip code as this guy's layout. I wonder if any of the Graphics on the CD are used on his layout?

On the railfanning front, I was driving home a few days ago, and decided to go by the railyard to see what I could see. I went over by the 'crew lounge and office' area of the CSX yard here and sitting on the siding that end at the bldg, was this...
FRA # T17. What is it and what does it do? I know that it's a Federal Railway Administration piece of equipment. Is it powered? Or does it need a loco?

Just got back from the sail event in Beaufort, NC, here are a few pics. Also got to see a local NS pulling about 30 cars down through NC 70 highway and while in the bus I caught a few shots of it going north toward Morehead City, NC.

Good evening gents, I trust everyone had a nice Sunday, We haven't heard from LUC or JOHN , so I guess they are still hung over from celebrating CANADA DAY....however, I see that FERGIE made it to the CS, but he is much younger and can really celebrate for days without a problem. Especially with his ear ring and balck patch and Cockatoo/Parrot/ Canary on his shoulder..LOL

CAPE JIM You are 100% within your rights. What gets me is that parents are oblivious to what their kids are doing, and when the house burns down....all the excuses start...BS lady, watch what your kids are doing, can't you hear the explosions?
Last year, my youngest son who is a volunteer FF in town, went to a fire that nearly destroyed and entire Condo complex. The reason? Some Numbo couldn't get his grille started on the deck ( which is a code violation in itself}, so he emtied the coals into a bag and left them there. Well, you all know "the rest of the story". When it comes to stupidity, the world does not have a shortage of personnel.

Fire works are outlawed in Mass, NY, NJ but most other states allow them , some states allow everything, others allow a restricted amount like sparklers and Roman candles and pin wheels etc.. That does not stop people here in Mass from obtaining them, they have been going off now for several nights. Our cat Rosie has disappeared, we have not seen her for two days now, so I don't know if the fireworks have scared her away. Some of the fireworks going off were bulldogs and Cherry Bombs, so they were quite loud and this hurts their ears big time. Several years ago my neighbors black Labrador actually tore right through our sliding screen door on the deck and cowered at my feet from the sound of the exposions.

Have any of you received the new Walthers Life Like catalog yet?? Nice stuff inside....I like it.

Emily has responded very well to her meds and there has been great improvement. The Shop is going great and the gal who was causing so much trouble quit of family reasons. Got a new GP from Athearn just need to work on layout so I can run it.

Hi Jim: Back when I was 17 during summer vacation I got to work on a B-25 for a few days. I had to take the bus to the end of the line and then walk about 3 miles to get to the airport but it was worth it. The big thrill came when I got to fill the right seat during the taxi tests. I always thought that Doolittle and his group did the most daring mission of the entire WW-2. I guess that was one of the reasons that I became an Army pilot.

Geees Fergie. Soldering irons and CA glue. What's next?

JimCG: We've had to call the sherriff a couple of times here. Our place has been bombarded several times by rockets. This year again because of the drought all fire works a forbidden. I'm sure that someone will still shoot them off and start a grass fire though.

Once again the end of the day is approaching and not too soon for me. Tomorrow I have taken off to take the daughter and family to the airport. They are going to England to visit the son-in-laws folks. His dad was Air Force stationed there and married a local girl. We'll get to see them again for a couple of days when they get back.

I think that there are 14 flyable B-17s today. I do like to see the old birds do there thing. Once in a while I get to see a Huey. It makes me feel old to think that it is a museum piece now.

Oh well, time to head for the homestead. I'll stop by tonight if I can get into the computer bedroom.

Good afternoon, Chloe - I see that PC has resumed his rightful place at the top of the page, [swg] so I'll have a (small, for his sake) ribeye, medium, please, with a salad and baked potato (sour cream and butter, yes), and some nice sliced peaches to go with that. And a nice cup of coffee to go with that. Yum! [dinner]

PC, you are sure able to find the airplanes! I see Paul fully identified that B-17. It was before my time, too, [;)] but I built a plastic model of it when I was a young'un... Paul corrected me - I was thinking the other was a B-25 (again, I only know it from photos in my history books in school[:-^][:-^][:-^]

It is going to be a hot one out there today (again!) - it's already 91 (F, that would be almost 33 C, I believe)![V]

I was the [|(]GOM[|(] (Grumpy Old Man) yesterday afternoon. Couple of kids were shooting fireworks off the next door neighbor's apartment's (2nd floor) deck, and the noise was tolerable, but some of the bottle rockets (illegal in the city limits here) were hitting my deck (wooden deck). That kind of frosted my cake, especially since I had hollered across to suggest that they move out from the building (maybe ten minutes before another rocket hits my deck). So I called the police to check what the city ordinances were, and then had the police come talk with them. Few minutes later I noticed the police had come by, and the pranksters/delinquents either left or got much quieter (their Mom may have got onto them when the cops showed up). I like fireworks, just not landing on the wooden deck.

Last night, I started clearing off the buildings and stuff from my layout's plywood/cork. Getting about ready to cut the wood to have a slope down from the mainline to the industrial and switching area. Then I'll need to re-do the cork in the indust./switching area, which right now is just roadbed-style. I'll put a sheet in there instead.

Well, Sunday dinner was good - Thanks again, PC! [:)]

There's a good possibility that this is headed that way. I mean, it's not like there's a plethora of these things flying around any more. Right now it's at the McCordsville airfield, which is this little hole in the wall town out east of Indianapolis where they built this airfield with a gigantic runway. It's WAY bigger then they should ever need, but, every year around the end of August they can have this fantastic airshow because they have that runway. They're having it again this year, but it's a bit early for the planes to start showing up. Man I'll tell you, around that time every year I love to watch the skies. I've seen Super Sabers, F4 Phantoms, B-17's, a B-2, F-105's, Corsairs, a Duantless, lots of Bi-planes, you name it! And the air pattern for circling the field passes just a shade east of my house, so I get to see it all from my back yard!

As to the "Johnny on the spot" deal. I was going up to my Mom & Dad's yesterday for my Dad's birthday. Not only that, but they live in a town where several branches of the local RR come together, so theres lots of rail traffic. Knowing all of that, and the fact that we might head out to our new house and see how far along on it they are, I packed the camara just in case. That's why I was "Johnny on the spot". It was just the right place at the right time, that's all. BUT IT WAS COOL!!!!!!!! [:D]

That's a B-17 G. They started putting the chin turrets on the late F models but that aircraft has the Chyanne tail turret that wasn't used untill the G series.

There was a B-17, a B-24, and a B-25 at the Mineral Wells airport last month. I don't have pictures because I forgot the camera. That seems to be a common malidy among us old geesers.

After looking closer at the plane, thats either an E or F model.
The original B-17 did not have a rear gunner. They kept modifying it
through WW2. . I think they got up to a G.

That's a B-17. Seen it in Miami, years ago and one was here at the local airport for a show.

I didn't include an eyepatch for Fergie because he is one of the GOOD guys. Heck, only thing he would "PIRATE" is ideas for his mrr.

Everyone’s still asleep, so maybe I can catch up some., We took the kids down to Moonshine for a moon burger yesterday, SIL had never seen any thing like it. The place was packed inside and out. Parking lot was full of bikes, cars and a school bus; we even met a 2 couples from Twain. Than we came home and lofted till time for the demo derby, Clyde an Heather were running in it. Mother an all them went, I stayed home with 3 very tired little girls and try to watch the race.

PC: That is a Lockheed Ventura. The Navy was the big user of them during WW2. They even flew bombing missions to Japan from Alaska. One was recently found in Russa that had crashed during one of those missions. The B-25 was made by North American and a tricycle gear aircraft. It is best kown for the Doolittle raid on Japan.

I'm about to start another day at the park. Yesterday wasn't too bad.I just had to do some catch up from 2 days off. Of course that took most of the day. When I retire this place is going to fall apart. I just hope that they call me and want me to come in and help them out with a problem. I get $75/hr on the outside for doing what I do here. Like that is going to happen.

The only MRRing i got to do was in my dreams. I had a nice dream about getting more locomotives. I guess that's why I had such a hard time getting up this morning.

Goodlate eveing gents, a beautiful day today, clear skies, low humidity and a gentl breeze at times, but it was hot under this strong early summer sun, need to protect yourself for sure.
I received the new Walthers Life-Like Catalog today, they have some real nice stuff in that catalog, the steamers look especially nice, and they have some new buildings that will impress many modelers.

ED That errant throw by Gonzalez was a result of a tough turn around on a difficult stop. The grass was wet, and I think from the looks of the release that the ball sailed as a result. Quite a game none the less.
