Good Morning Coffee Clubbers,

Thought I ought to stop in and at least touch base. It’s been a busy week (for a retiree anyway), and it’s going to be a busy weekend too. We have an event to go to tonight, tomorrow is packing the suitcases, and Monday morning we’re off on out trip to Canada. Actually Monday we’re only off on the bus trip to Mexico City, where we will overnight for Tuesday morning’s flight.

I’m not sure how many opportunities I’ll have to log in during the trip, so I could easily be off line for 3 weeks. I’m sure you’ll find a way to survive.

We were out at the orange grove the day before yesterday, and things are looking good for this fall's start to the harvest. We finally got some rain (could use more) so everything (including the weeds) is looking greener. The FCVN crew is prepared to continue to ship virtual O.J. north during this pause in the action, so you can continue to enjoy it here in The Coffee Shop.

I assume I’ll be able to reregister and log back in after the changes early next week. Being slightly technology challenged, and not liking change, we’ll see how much problem I have in getting myself back on line when the moment comes.

Ken’s presentation for the NMRA convention looks dynamite. Great job. He posted the link to his presentation in another thread. Now that’s some modeling.

Anyway, I’ll still be checking in and reading posts today and tomorrow.

Sorry i've missed a couple of days, been super duper busy!

Got my wiring all done, and all soldered, it was the first time i had soldered i think i did alrite!, i tell ya what though, I don't like crawling under the layout to run the wires!!, I wired it so I can convert it to DCC easily, when the time is right, no pics as yet... soon I hope.

Well I might not be in again until the forum closes down in a couple of days, so If thats the case, I'll see you on the otherside!

Got some bad news while ago, MIL called n said that Cindy Winger died, one of our best friends. They have a large collection of O and S gage, also a large collection of Roy Rogers and Gene Altry stuff, and are really the ones that got me started in collecting trains. Sure going to miss the fireplace wiener roast.

Ryan , 2.79 would seem like a bargain here now. It’s going to cost 7.00 to fill up the mower.

Got the Starting problems fix on the rider yesterday, still have to find a deck spindle to mow, but I can at least drag the trailer around. Also had some time to work on the creek.
We have Leroy and KC today, along with my family re-union, so get much of anything today.

Hi Gang: I installed the latest anti-virus program from Norton the other day. Now the puter is slower than molases after a hard freeze. I think that the viruses would be better.

I got all of the posts set for the fence and the brace post welded in. Now I just have to run 3 more strands of wire and I'm done. I'll be glad when that job is finished.

Well I'm going to head for bed. My best to you all.

As far as gas goes we are paying around $2.79 per gallon here in Wake Forest and Raleigh Durham, NC area.

Weathers still purrty good here, so it’ll be outside work again today. Didn’t get anything done yesterday, had Leroy n KC. Mac and Jussy will be here next week and they’re big enough to help.

Jerry , the EL Patio is gone now but the slab floor. A couple of friends tried to re-open it after it closed as a supper club, but the building was in to bad a shape by then. I had some good times there.

Also Mother said gas hit 3.09 here yesterday, gas has risen .28 in 7 days. Looks like there’ll be even fewer trips anywhere now.

All the way to the back of page two - wow. Hope Bill T. is ok, he usually has us bumped front and center by 5 am. Nice day today have the top down on the Triumph and ran out to HD for hinges. Nice drive in the AM.
Jerry - pics would be nice. I played a variety of music over the years, from power trio loud stuff to country/western. One of the places we played early on was the 15 Maples in Chester on the Ct river. It was built on pilings over the river bank and the whole place would sway when the crowd got up to dance. It was a bit rough around the edges and was the first (but not the last) place i played that had a chicken wire enclosure around the band. I found out why mid way through the third set when someone winged an empty beer pitcher at us. You learn crowd control quick in a place like that. "No we don't know that song, but this one has a lot of the same notes - ok?"
Time to pick up tools. With any luck I'll get to run down to Branford Hobbies today to pick up my FL-9 and EP-5 kits. CUL, [:D] J.R.

Good Evening Gang:

Not much going on here. I worked on some fence projects. I got one finished and half the wire on the other. I still need a 16ft gate so there goesanother $75 that could have gone for MRR stuff.

One of these days all the crud from the gas well will be gone and I can stop taking the relaxing pills. These people that work for the companys that are drilling all these wells think that they can do anything that they want anywhere they want. Now they want to do another seismic test on our place. If they do it will completely ruin the hay for our second cutting. I can't quote what I told the guy. Bergie would have my head if I used that kind of language here. When we do start getting some money from that hole in the ground it will go for lawyers.

I think that it's time for me to take my meds and go to bed. My best wishes to you all and I'll see you tomorrow.

I wish I could keep up with all the activity here in the coffee shop. Prayers to all who need it and Welcome to all the newcomers.

Tomorrow I ship off for my annual recurrent training. Always a stressful time and never fun. Hate to wish my life away but I be happy when it is over.

I did go to the NMRA convention on Wednesday. It was nice but for future reference, a one day pass is a waste unless you plan to do a tour or a master builder clinic. The were two very good DCC clinics, I got a lot of questions answered but now have twice a many. The Loys Toys clinics in AR sound like a good thing for Digitrack owners.

I was somewhat disappointed that there were not more manufactures giving clinics at the convention. They all planned to be at the Train Show but I think they miss a real opportunity to reach the hard core modeler. Digitrack and Woodland Scenics made their mark at this year's convention.

The was such a push for the Train Show that I wondered why anyone would join the NMRA or go to the convention when there was going to be more offerred at the Train Show. At least that is what was promoted on Wednesday.

Well need to get to bed.

Hi guys and gals: Greetings from London, Ontario. I've been able to log on at the computer lab of the college where the church conference I'm at is being held. We are a couple of miles, perhaps less, from the GM Locomotive works. They are however on shut down, so no plant tours available.[:(] Security, moreover, discourages photos fromoutside the plant. So if I post any, how did they get taken?[;)]
Saturday looks like the day Imay be able to clance that way, after I pick up a rental car to go the TrolleyRob's museum on Sunday.
CP and CNR lines run a few blocks from here, but I haven't got down there yet. Saturday again, most likely in the company of the chap who help me become Normal! He;s at this conference too.[^]
Lunch time, a men's BBQ. Hope it's not chicken, as that's what I've had for dinner the last 2 evenings.[dinner]

Good morning gents, it rained here early this morning, the storm along the front came a little further north than the weather prognosticators said it would.......still cloudy here but is supposed to clear soon.......so we will stay inside until it does so that mosquitoes don't carry us away.

Yesterday, my youngest son and I headed to Palmer, Ma to the hot spot of New England. This is where the Diamond is where the CSX/Amtrak east west line crosses the north/south line of the Vermont cen tral as well as NE Central RR. The Steaming Tender Restuarant now resides inside the completely redone former train station, and has excellent food. Saw some great action yesterday and met some MRR'rs from Maine down for the day. We shared many a story and MRR info, and then we showed them the way to Tuckers Trains in Warren, Ma, our favorite LHS. This is run by a very nice gentleman in his 80's who has forgotten more about RR's and trains that most of us will ever know. He knows his stuff!!!! Of course we bought some cars and a new book just out on New England RR's of yesteryear.

MIKE Gas has hit $3.05 here also Mike, at the more expensive sattions like Mobil Gas, some other are still at $2.98, but not for long I am sure. I have several investment daily newsletters that I receive, and they are very accurate, and they fully expect gas to hit $4 a gallon later this year, and oil to pass $100 a barrel for crude.
If that isn't enough, the prediction is for oil to hit over $150 a barrel in 2007 with gasolene at better than $5 a gallon!!!!
So with petroleum used for plastics, and that means our MRR stuff, can you imagine what the prices will hit in 2007? And at $5 a gallon for gas, what that will do to driving about for LHS's? And the cost of shipping of goods even if you buy from internet? Add to that the higher cost of heating, cooling, etc at the LHS's .....welllllllll, you can all see where this is headed. it doesn't take a master's degree in economics to figure this out.

Good Morning all...Sunny and cool with temps in the 50's this morning...Coffee and a Krispy Kream please.....Thanks Mike....I cleaned and oiled the Funit I got in mail last week its a Life Like..It seems to run pretty good I let it run for about a hour and it smoothed out and ran fairly slow but still kinda jerky on the take off and stop...My brother took the base of the "cake pan" turntable back home he is going to rout a groove so I can put the pit rail in it....Just to nice a day to stay in and work on the trains and pewter.....

JR.....I have the Merchants row building done except for painting the top of the turrent and detailing the roofs and sidewalk...Maybe I can get Mike or my brother-in-law to take some pictures.....Yes we broadcast from some "interesting" places.....One I remeber that is gone now was located right on the banks of the Wabash river...Saw dust on the floor we were runng a "talent" contest One of the guys unpacked and tuned up when he came back to start to play someone had took all the strings off his guitar this stared a brawl that lasted almost 1/2 an hour...To cool the place they pumped water out of the river through a old car radiator with a fan behind...What type music do you play?

Mike.....No it wasn't the El patio or the "pink lady" The El patio was a great place to watch trains with tha old Pennsy main line...Last time I was past there a tree was growing up in the middle of the place....

Morning all! Wet and rainy drive into work this morning, makes you want to just curl up and go back to sleep!

And thus a tall cup of coffee would be in order right about now. Thanks Chloe and keep ‘em coming too…
Slow week here at work, a lot of folks are still on vacation and it is even kind of quiet in the forums lately it seems.

No work on the layout since last week, entertaining guests and going out of town prevent any progress of late. But I have been doing some research on the Southern Railway and Norfolk Southern Railroad, trying to come up with some prototype information to eventually apply to the layout as I build the scenes.

inch, Thanks for the offer, so when lunch comes around today I’ll be placing my order. I know what ya mean about BD’s and Christmas coming around, playing Santa can add up quick like, huh!

Suppose to be another nice day here high low 80’s and sunny, I’ll be outside today.
The big thing on the local news here is, that gas hit 3.09 in Terre Haute yesterday, and oil company profits increasing again. It was already over 3.00 up by Springfield, and it looks to go above 3.50 before the end of summer according to experts I’ve heard. There goes another trip we had planned this summer.

Luc - Sorry to hear about Glorias' setback with her health. You both continue to be in our prayers, and our best hopes for a recovery as well.

James - there have been a rash of cars turning down the tracks here lately as well. Both got stuck wirh one getting hit and the other towed off in the nick of time. One bright spark wants an interlocking of sorts with gates that come down to block the tracks when no train is there. My personal opinion is that people that confused shouldn't have driving priviliges.
Jerry - how did your buildings finally come out? Will we get to see update pics some day? I hear you about the Tequila. Playing in all the dives we used to get booked into, I've seen a lot of the effects of old demon drink. How did you explain the "I really need that micropone back" to the grateful recipient?
Hopefully I'll get the car that came in Monday for a couple of things and check the setup out today. Funny how that works. Time to pick up tools and get back at it. CUL,[:D]J.R.
