We supposedly have 3 "Manila" (my favorite), 3 "Petacon", and one that we'll find out what it is when it starts to give fruit. They're all young, and only one has given any fruit yet. The varieties may have different names from what you are used to over there.
The only problem with planting mango trees in an orange grove is that they will grow so big they will shade the adjacent orange trees, which may not produce. So in a few years we may need to do some significant pruning. Time will tell.
It's mango season here right now, so each day I get a big bowl of fresh cut mango. Plus, the wife has salted away a few containers of frozen chunks of mango which we can use for desserts later in the year.
inch Not much on the early games, but footballs- foootball.
I hear you there. I just wish we could get the pre-season games down here.

happy jack: How many orange trees do you have ?
We have around 550 orange trees (several different varieties), about 30 lime trees, and another 20 or so different ones including mango and avocado. Maybe about 75 are too young to be in production yet.
Wow, Trent, sounds like the shop has got a lot staked on you! Business muct be good. I know the shop looked pretty well stocked when I visited you back in April (even if your stock of Normal scale stuff was a bit thin....).
Had to apply a bit of "Bright Boy" this afternoon to get things rolling again on the layout after that long layout. Being in a really humid atmosphere, and pretty close to the sea, we really have our problems with corrosion. I really need to get a track cleaning car.... and operate more often too I suppose.
Hasta luego,
Hey All,
I'll have a Cherry Limeaide w/real cherries please.
We @ Lone Star Trains also build custom layouts SSSOOO in addition to my other duties of being the ONLY American Flyer repairman, a HO repairman, Digitrax tech, layout service tech, Manager, merch. orderer, mail order packer, train show rep., carpenter, and collection evaluator I also design, bid, build, and install custom layouts. I love being busy but we are also building a party room 14' X 15' by Oct. (anyone know where I can find a clone?)
Been @ the shop a year Aug 1. and in that time recieved 2 raises which really helped a lot.
Love all the pics and I rejoice with all the good news I've read so far.
Duce- Paul had a great ? and don't want to make ya choose but....
How bout the San Antonio area? The Texas Transportation Museum is getting some of the steam engines from the Texas Railway. They still work.
The layouts sofar have been G-scale but I design all scales. The customer needs to let me know the space to work with or I go on site and measure it.
Then the items like railyards, structures, water, etc. If they want a suspended layout I cut all the parts, paint, and assemble on site all parts and turn 'er on and run for cover!!
Look OUT HERE SHE COMES!!!!
Oh well, nuff for now.
Hi everyone,
Noah: crossing looks great, also really liked your transfer cab. Is your club going to be setting up at the big show in MIlwaukee in Nov.?
Ed: how many orange trees do you have ?
Boy the weather here in western Wi, has been just great. Spent about 6 hours at Grand Crossing it was very busy. I get there at about 3:00 am from 3 to 7 it was non - stop trains even the CP ran some.
well good night all its bed time back to work at 3am tomorrow. ( at least I have a good job.)
Paul: Ed: you got to print bigger. Some of us are old and half blind.
Hi Gang:
Ed: you got to print bigger. Some of us are old and half blind.
Luc: that can't be our lawyer. He's really is 98yrs young and sharp as a tack. Been doing the lawyering for Mary Anns family all her life and ours for the last 36 yrs. We've got him going after Shell now. Poor Shell. He really likes taking them on. Lots of young Yankees doing there legal stuff. They haven't figured out the Texas way of lawyering. They'll learn.
I took apart an lod CD player. It's the type that has a turntable that holds 5 CDs. Ifigure that the turn table drive should work for a MRR turntable . I had it running on a variible power supply. It really was smooth. It used about 2 volts and .2 amps to give an ok speed. I'd like to slow it down even more but it stalls at1.5 volts. There is also another driver to move the table in and out of the player. It will also work for a TTdrive.
It's almost time for me to head for home so I'll say TTFN.

A Prominent young attorney was on his way to court to begin arguments on a complex lawsuit when he suddenly found himself at the Gates of Heaven. St. Peter started to escort him inside, when he began to protest that his untimely death had to be some sort of mistake. "I’m much too young to die! I’m only 35!"
St. Peter agreed that 35 did seem to be a bit young to be entering the pearly gates, and agreed to check on his case.
After investigating, he told the attorney, "I’m afraid that there are no mistake my son... We verified your age on the basis of the number of hours you’ve billed to your clients, and according to that, you’re at least 108 years old!"
Happy MRRing
Good Afternoon Coffee Clubbers,
Went back out to the orange grove yesterday. The crop is really coming along well. Still have about 2 months before the oranges should be ripe enough to start picking (although I’ll probably cut some sooner) so the Coffee Shop will have to do with virtual OJ for a couple of more months yet. We did cut a bunch (maybe 125#) of avocados yesterday, yum!
Steve, Steamtown seems like a really interesting place. I’ve looked at its website before. Maybe someday if I get up in that part of the country.
Cary, good to hear from you again. Good news about the baby and wife. What’s prompting the move to Texas? What part?
Jerry: Got any projects planned for the layout?Nothing special, just need to get back in modeling mode after laying off all summer. If I recall correctly, I was in the middle of ballasting when I last worked on it.
Jerry: Got any projects planned for the layout?
Trent, another MIA heard from. Good to have you stop back in. When you say “layout bids”, does that mean that you’re in the business of constructing layouts in your spare time? Congrats on being a certified Digitrax technician. Should be lots of call for your services with the popularity of DCC. I may even have to consider it myself one day……..
Noah, nice job on the crossing. When I clicked on that picture, I wondered if the caboose at the right was the famous transfer caboose, and then actually reading a bit further on in your post I found that I was right.
Mornin all, a short stack/ham/ OJ/ coffee please Janie,
Another nice day in store here, and nothing going on, I think. Of course Mother may change my mind before it's over.
ATTABOY, thanks for the photos. I'd like to get out to Scranton some day.
DUCE, good to have ya back, it's been a spell. Congrads on the new boy, glad they're both doing OK.
JERRY , Beth will be going here to school, I'm still not happy with the idea. The engine n caboose was over to the mill, it was the same one thats always there, didn't get any pics this trip.
TRENT, good to hear from you too. Sounds like your going to be right buisy with layouts again.
LUCT, great to hear Gloria;s doing betters. Thank for the pics and signs too.
DEKRUIF, don't rememeber who's all haulers we've seen out on I-70, most of them are just in passing.
NOAH, thanks the pics .
JIM CG, Mother don't think they'll be down there real long, figures they'll be moving back come spring. Been ther done that with the bank too,
STEVE, thanks for the note from Fergie

Jim Fergie sent a quick e mail to Ken L not long back, this is a clip from it
Have been to three communities so far Quaqtaq, Ivujivik, and Povungnituk. Ivujivik was a great place as I met all the town's kids and some of the parents and elders as we gave tours to almost 100. A good time was had by all. BTW Quaqtaq means: Tape Worm. Ya I know, but realize this the Arctic is a bizarre place to start off with. Not much modelling going on as we have been engaged in an intense program which is now winding down and should be concluded on the 12th. So that's my life in a nut shell. ...
Cox47, I have been trying to get some decent pictures of my layout and the tunnel progress but my camera is garbage(guess I should have gotten a camera instead of going to the hobby shop, Not!) I'll keep trying though the tunnel is portable so I may bring it out side for its photo shoot.
Jim, Yea this will be my 4th year teaching home school.
Trent thanks for the advice I will try it.
Thats all for now
Hi Clubbers,
Thanks Ed & Paul for the welcome back.
Lisa- At our Train shop we use denatured alcohol on a clean rag. If you have "goobers" use a green 3M type scrubby pad BUT use a Vac. to suck up the fibers so the engine won't suck them up into the gearing.
Been WAY TOO HHOTTT to work on my layout but that hasn't kept me from school. I am now a certified DIGITRAX tech. but that doesn't mean I know all. But I have a factory direct support system so if I don't know the answer I'll get it. BTW- How do ya know who's on with this new format?
Y'all take care and keep 'em running!
Evening Gang:
Trent: good to see you back here. It’s been awhile for sure. I was wondering what had happened to you. Good to hear that you and the wife are patched up.
It has rained again tonight. Weatherford got a bunch but as usual it went around us. We did get some so not all was lost but it would have been nice if we could have gotten the heavy stuff that hit Weatherford.
Luc: It seems that Gloetown has some real pushers for development. I guess the chamber of commerce has been busy. It looks good. Those signs are great.
Cary: What part of Texas are you planning on moving to? I’m just west of Ft. Worth in Parker county.
Cox 47: That little 0-4-0 looks like a Porter. It’s a steamer not a fireless.
I’m going to sign off and head for bed. Tomorrow is a work day and 4am comes early.
Good Night All
Huy guys, I'll take a root beer and a fried peanut butter and banana Sandwitch, assumming the deep fryer is working today.....
Ed, glad to see you back in again, and glad to hear your trip went well. Hopefully you'll actually be around a little again now!
Luct, Gloetown is coming along nicely since I last saw pics of it a few months ago. It's looking pretty good. Of course it'll look a little better in the summer once the pink snow isn't blanketing the ground...
I finally have (a few) photos of the module for all of you that have been requesting them. I've been working on a grade crossing on a HO scale Module I've been doing. It's completely scratchbuilt, although it's really simple, as it's just strip wood died with a thin mix of paint. The wood part is done, but now I need to add the gravel between the wood. I'm going to set the module up with my club next weekend though in preparation for the show in September, and so I'm waiting on the gravel until I'l sure that the crossing will actually clear everything that is necessary. I've checked it with an NMRA gauge, but just to be sure.....
Anyway, here's a photo of the crossing as it is right now. The signs are styrene by Blair Line that I cut out and glued to a peice of strip wood:

And here's a shot of the crossing in action. A Wisconsin and Southern local is in the siding, and complete with a transfer caboose (which I scratchbuild based on a prototype a few summers ago), and the conductor and brakeman prepare to give a roll by to another WSOR manifest freight that is overtaking it on the main line:

I'm planning to take a few more overall shots of the module today or tomorrow as I finish up a few more detail items. I'll post them as I take them.
Enjoy!
Noah
Luct: Love those signs, where did you find them?
inch53: who elses haulers have you seen. Hopefully not Jimmie Johnson's.
My dad's work had a 50th anniversary "picnic" today. It was great. the guys down at the club(part of my dad's work) brought out trains to run if we had any visitors. One of the guys brought out 8 sound equipped enigines. diesel and steam. one of the other members brought out a coal train pulled b 3 kato sd45t-2's. 2 Rio Grande, and one UP.
that's all for now,
dekruif
Well time for a quick visit, diet Pepsi please, no ice. Thank you.
Gloria had a couple of real good days and things are looking better.
Got a couple of new shots of Gloetown showing the new siding. I cleaned up the table a little for these...
I also found some new signs, you may get a kick out of them...
And now for the biggy... A new vehicle for Fergie when he gets back...
Hope you all had a great day.
