Good morning ! from Indiana.

Near a cornfield in Indiana...
Evening All,
I had a rather eventful day yesterday, my intention was to do some school with the boys and then to head over to the MIL's to work, that plan kind of fell through when I saw that someone or something had broken my windshield some time Sun. night. After determining it couldn't have been an accident called the police, who came out and took a statement and gave me his oppinion that it was prob. teens (I hate how a few kids can ruin things for the rest) and that they will prob. never find out who(knew that!!) but before the nice policeman left he made sure to call in my plate# and have it "tagged", I could be wrong but I don't think it would be a good idea to drive a "tagged" car??( I wonder if God is trying to teach me something here, I'll be open to his voice what ever it is) One good thing I've had some time to work in the shed, I now have three homes in my mountians( my 8 year old asked me to place them and since it is technically his layout I fig. it was the least I could do) My prayers are with you all especially those in need.
Howdy CS!
Thanks for the prayers for my CFO!
Update- My daughter in Kansas told me tonite when I decided to call her that she WANTS me to call again, she isn't mad at me anymore and she is thinking about comming for Christmas! WOW!!! Thanks for all the support and prayers on this as well.
GOD please protect those who need protection, heal those who are suffering and bless all in the Coffee Shop!

Evening Gang: I made a reply this morning before I left work but something happened and it disappeared. Anyway I went to the dentist and he poked and proded. It was determined that the tooth that was giving the problem was the one I had suspected. The problem was that it is located too far back in my mouth for him to do the work. It also takes speical tools and he's not equipped to handle this. he called a speicialist nearby and got me an appointment. The soonest is Sept 12. On the way home I got a call from his office that they had a cancellation for 8am in the morning, would I like it? You bet I would so tomorrow morning I'll get it done.
Not much else going on. Best wishes to all those needing them. I'm going to bed.
Good evening.
From Gloria and I thanks a big bunch to everyone for the prayers, they worked.
Gloe is home, she was release from the hospital this afternoon. Her mood is great, in good spirit but a little sore. The surgeons repaired a hernia and scraped some adhesion from old scarred tissues caused by 30 year old procedures. The prognosis is excellent.
Der John - A very special thank you for ringing me up yesterday, what a pleasant surprise it was. And thanks a bunch for updating everyone.
This goes to show you that all the patrons of this great place are indeed wonderful people, not only can one share good news and bad news but also get much needed support.

Ditto from me as well and wishing all of you a very successful school year.
Ryan - As the hurricane season moves on, glad you’re in a safer place, I hope...
Paul - Congrats on the rolling stock expansion. Hope CFO doesn’t hold it over your head in the future.
RT - You and your family are in out prayers.
While Gloria was resting this am, I stopped in LHS and picked up a few bits like some styrene 010" to build my road system for Gloetown. Also picked up a CPR 1050ish Express truck
And 2 snap switches, I should be able to complete the track layout this week.
And I got a forklift and crates and pellets for the sugar refinery.
Well, time to check on Gloe to make sure she is taking a medication, did I mention I’m playing nurse this week?
Happy MRRing
Der- I hear that there was much consternation and knashing of teeth at the CN technical dept. Seems somehow several tunnel portals were suddenly widened through an unknown and unamed force. The CN police reported that there was a strange fruitlike oder and some pulpy residue left behind whch was sent away for DNA analysis.
Rob
Evening all -
Just thougth that I'd drop in for a spell. All is well this evening here in Central NY. Decided to re-arrange my living room, since it was so 'wet' outside from the rain we had from about midnight to noon today.
To those of us CSer's in Florida, especially Flip, if you have not done so already, time for a frequent passage from the show M*A*S*H - BUG OUT!
Dick / Ed -
Not looking good for the Sox at the moment. Big Papi is having more heart problems, Manny is still sore w/ a knee problem, Willy Mo has a bum wrist, and ESPN is reporting that they are looking to trade Wells by the end of the week. I guess the only bright side, even if it'[s not much, is the progress both Varitek and Nixon are making back in Beantown with their rehabs. Sounds like they may both be activated by the end of the upcoming Holiday weekend.
Well, as for the pics I have promised, this weekend (maybe even Friday) I'll set up an account on rail images or somewhere's so I can upload them to the net for the world to see.
Not much new on the MRR front, although if I were to get out my 'wish' list that JimCG has, maybe I'd have something to look foreward to. Maybe I'll have to have a little birdie go visit him and remind him of that 'wish' list I sent him awhile back.
Oh well, time for me to get moving. Need to do some more things around the apartment.
Take care!

Hunter - When we met in January of 2000, you were just a 6 week old pup who walked his way into this heart of mine as the only runt in the litter who would come over to me. And today, I sit here and tell you I am sorry we had to put you down. It was the best thing for you and also the right thing to do. May you now rest in peace and comfort. Love, Dad. 8 June 2010
I love you and miss you Mom. Say hi to everyone up there for me. Rest in peace and comfort. Love, John. 29 March 2017
Evening all, I actually made it in this evening. I decided to take a break from working in the basement. There are some quirks in the construction down there making it go slower than expected. It gets a little discouraging.
Just looking for the disclaimer saying " ...no N scale flatcars were hurt during the filming of this freight movement..."
I understand that disclaimer cannot be used as right after the photo was taken, the car had to go into the shop with a hernia.
Just in case I don't make it in by the end of the week, hope everyone here in the US has a good long weekend. I will be putting a roof over my mother's front porch at least on Saturday. Maybe Sunday too if it takes more than one day. See you all later.
Hi gang: Couldn’t finish picking the blackberries because of the rain, so I’m indoors for the afternoon. There’s enough for a pie though.
TrolleyRob:
Just wondering, did you check the clearances on bridges and the like before you started to move that oversized dimentional load.
(But it is why I took that shot with no tunnel mouths in the background.)
Paul: Congratulations to Judge Isadore William Hangum and the rest of the Duluth, Superior, & Southeastern Rail Road executive. You have a very understanding CFO. Even if such an order would fit on the MT, the outlay would certainly cool the atmosphere.
Trent: Kelly’s in our prayers.
Ed:
Mike:
DER,, thanks for the update on Fergie, seems like he's been out longer than normal on this trip.
PC: That’s just typical, isn’t it? Glad the repair was possible for under $2.
Noah:
and it always did seem like a good idea to check and make sure things work. Was it fairly easy to do, and did it help you find any problems ahead of time at all, or give you any ideas on how to change things?

One year ago today we were riding out the 120 mph wind and rain of Hurricane Katrina in the French Quarter of New Orleans. And what a difference a year makes, but it also just goes to prove how long a complete recovery will take more than a year to complete. And much to our amazement and thrill we survived the storm and returned to our home the next day. On Aug 30 and next three days we would have to fear for our lives once again because of the looting and threats that people would break into our house and rob or kill us. Thanks again to all of you who offered us support this time last year. So many stories to tell of our survival, strength, and courage, but for another day….
Oh, and hello Ernesto… we may meet you here in the Carolinas soon….we need the rain, but you can keep the wind…
What’s happening in the CS today? Let’s catch up on the past days postings….
Oh, Chloe, I’ll have a banana and strawberry smoothie with some condensed milk for a cool down treat.
Paul, good luck with the root canal! And Chloe, a heads up for you, get those mashed potatoes ready, Paul could use them tonight!
Lisa, that’s what we are here for, at sometime in our lives we all need support from others, and I know I got my share of support from this forum and in particular the CS folks this time last year.
Dick, thanks for the kudos on the layout progress. I was thrilled that Ben assisted me with the layout this weekend, I know once it nears completion he will want to be more involved. For now his limited interest in benchwork construction has me up in the train room by myself most of the time.
Dick and RT, yep, Ernesto is only welcome to bring some much needed rain, and only if it is spread out over a long time period. I know, I know, those dang hurricanes and tropical storms seem to be attracted to us, but being over 120 miles inland and over 350 feet above sea level I think we are much safer here than 10 feet below sea level in the fish bowl. (Fingers crossed!!!!)
RT, thoughts and prayers are with you and the family at this time of need!
And thanks for posting that pic again for Hoople! The cardboard was cut with a utility knife from boxes we saved from the move, and they are cut ¾” to 1” strips. Then they are attached with a hot glue gun and held in place with cloths pins until set. The cardboard strips are placed about every 4” – 6”.
And thanks for the update from Luc, thoughts and prayers go out to his wife!
Congratulations go out to the Duluth, Superior, & Southeastern Rail Road for their acquisition of 100 new ore cars!! I am sure the CFO will be pleased when revenues soar….
Inch, stay hydrated being in that sun all day! On the truck AC issue, I ran it on MAX AC on the way home yesterday and it seemed to keep the cab cold. Funny thing is that when I slow down and stop at the red light it gets colder, and when I take off and reach a cruising speed anywhere over 20 mph it starts pumping air that is not as cold, like it warms up just a bit. Strange huh!
PC, sorry about the broken pipes, but it sounds like Murphy had to show up and rear his ugly head one more time eh!
Once again prayers to all who are in need.
Cheers,

Hoople, I took the super clinic by WS at the NMRA convention a couple years ago. To use their plaster cloth, build a framework for the scenery with whatever you want to use. At the clinic we used extruded foam from WS and balled up newspaper but the cardboard strip method would work too. When you're ready for the cloth cut it into easy to handle sizes. Then VERY BRIEFLY (a second or two) dip it in a bowl of water. If you leave it in to long the plaster will wash off the cloth. Lay the wet cloth over your frame then you can wet your fingers to smooth the plaster and form the cloth to the shape you want. You will probably need two to three layers to get the strength needed to hold it's shape, plant trees, and other things.
On break at work right now, so will try to check in this evening. See you later.
Inch, That photo of the KB&S Alco you posted a few pages back is particularly interesting to me. That is a former Green Bay and Western Railroad locomotive, and it’s good to see that at least one of their locomotives is still at a museum. The GBW was bought by the Wisconsin Central in 1993 and much of the GBW power was sold or scrapped, so it’s good to know that at least a few of the locomotives are still to be found, and it’s still in decent condition even. Thanks for posting that shot in particular, as well as the rest of the shots from the museum, they are quite interesting.
Der John, I like the layout model a lot, it’s really quite cool. I’ve heard of people building those before, and it always did seem like a good idea to check and make sure things work. Was it fairly easy to do, and did it help you find any problems ahead of time at all, or give you any ideas on how to change things?
Well guys, I better be off, I’ve got a bunch of things I need to do today, so I better get started!
Noah
Morning all!
I wasn't around last noght because I had a water pipe bust in my house. Can you believe that? 5 weeks before we move out and the place gets bulldozed, and I'm tearing apart the plumbing and rebuilding it with brand new parts! It couldn't have waited 5 weeks before it blew! Oh well, it's fixed now. Only cost me $1.87 to fix it too, so at least it wasn't expensive, just messy and time consuming.
Chloe, how are you girl?! Whaddya got on the grill this morning? No matter, I'll have it! And a Moxie too please......thanks!
inch53 wrote:THOUGHTS N PRAYERS for those in need here. The list seems to grow more everyday.
I've noticed that too. That's OK though, because God's big enough to handle it!
I continue to remember each of you in my prayers and I pray that each of you has an encounter with God through your difficulty that will change you forever. God Bless!
Oh, one last thing.......I stumbled onto this and I thought I'd share it. Now I've played guitar for 25 years now, but this guy on his Uke is absolutely amazing! (Not dial up friendly)

Hey folks,
Kelly went to the Dr. today and will have to go back for labs as they think her mones are messed up as well as she may have cists. She is trying to be brave, silly goose!
You all have been there before and this is hard cause it might mean no more children. God's will be done but its hard for me cause todays my own daughter's 14th and she still wants nothing to do with me. I sent her a card but....
My heart goes out to all of you with these difficulties and I pray for you daily.
May God bless and keep all in difficult situations, those with joyous days and heal all who are hurting!
Keep up those layouts cause I love those pics.
News Flash
Date Line Huron Bay Mich.
Judge Isadore William Hangum, chairman of the board of the Duluth, Superior, & Southeastern Rail Road announced at a speical news conference at Huron Bay that the railroad has just received 100 new ore cars for the iron ore service. " This shows that the railroad, the board of directors and the stock holders have confidence in the iron ore business in the region." stated the judge.
As these cars are of the latest steel design the shop forces are very happy. " Some of those old cars are falling apart faster than we can fix them" stated shop foreman Jon Gunder.
When I got home today Mary Ann gave me "the look" and said " What are those boxes." Of course I faind ignorance. Not too convincingly. After examining the boxes and seeing the clearly marked Walthers tape I said " Those must be the ore cars that I ordered last year." She sighed and said " I guess I'll have to find the money pay for them." I do so love her.
Just a quick good evening folks.
Der -Thanks for the update from Luc, good to hear she came throuhg the surgury okay. We will definatly keep Glo in our thoughts and prayers.
RT: Thinking of you and Edythe. I agree with Dick, and remember, “There is no fear in love, for perfect love casts out fear.” Kris’ mother is like a second mom to me. My own died in 1974, and now Ellen lives with us, I know it will be hard when we finally have to say goodbye.
Der John, that mango might be a bit too big for the railroad to haul, so you might want to let the CS take it off their hands and have it on the lunch menu for tomorrow….. LOL
It’s not ripe yet, so they’ve sent it off hoping it will ripen on the way! Caught it on the lead from the interchange….. LOL.
That roadbed is looking good. So is the rest of the room and benchwork. Great to have the help, eh?
Today I will start work on my hill. I got some WS plaster cloth. Any word how this material should be used?
I’ve not used any yet, but as far as I can figure it, you just cut it to a size handy for the area you are working on, wet it (presumably in a bowl of water, and lay it on a frame work of some kind to support it until the plaster sets up. Ryan’s kind of frame is as good as any, and costs almost zero$.
http://www.rymocs.com/images/scenerytest0820.jpg
You may already know all that, in which case what I’ve written next will be superfluous, but I had fun doing it anyway.
You can make just about any kind of scene with a frame like that. Hot glue works well to fix the strips, as well as masking tape, which I think Ryan said he’s using. White glue and those clothes pins until the glue sets is what I’ve used too. I covered my frame work with plaster soaked paper towel, not having the budget for the plaster cloth.
Here’s a planning model for the main part of my layout in Alberta. You can see how that frame work goes. Here’s how it shaped up.
I’ve just spoken to Luc. His wife came through the op. OK, but is staying in the hospital for tonight. Luc says that he will get an update to us in the CS probably by Wednesday. I’m sure they would appreciate your prayers.
That’s about it for me for today. Many odds and ends to see to tomorrow as well. all, and God Bless. Prayers for all in need of healing, comfort, peace, and safety in storms.
Evening all and just got back tonight from a four day ride to the Upper Peninsula with a couple friends, Gary and Dan. I did manage to get some pics and I will start posting them tommorrow if I get a chance and also try to catch up on what has happened around here.
Let me say to any newbies as I haven’t started going through the posts yet and also the best to any that are on sick call.
That’s about it for now
Talk to you later

Edythe is like a second mother to me not my wife. Please were getting up there in age but were only in our early 50's not 80's lol. Edythe is 83 years young. She and my mother started there first jobs together after high school in N.Y. at GE. back in 1940.
It will hurt when she goes but I really don't expect her to make it past christmas. This is her second bout with cancer in less than 1 year. To what my wife and I believe she never really got better the last time we have alway thought scince the first time she just told us all they got it all as she didn't want us to worry but my wife and I could see her still losing weight all the time I bet (and I'am not a betting man) she doesn't weigh more than 80 - 85 LBS and she is about 5'7"
We could see it as we were not there all the time only about every other weekend as we live 50 miles from her. we want to get back down there this coming weekend but don't know if we can as hurricane on its way . Flip you watch out and any others down that way.
Ryan I think you attract them you leave LA. to get away from them and move to N.C. and looks like this one is coming to say hi to you also.
Well I'll let someone else talk for a while now
Take care and my prayer list is still out there for all you that need it too. Lisa take care of MIL she really needs you all right now.

OK guys: Tomorrow at 3pm for the root canel. I hope that he can find a cause before he does the procedure. I'd hate to get the wrong tooth done. It's funny Mary Ann and the kids have no problems with there teeth. This makes it alittle tough on me because no one understands the pain that I go through. To parraphrase Rodney Dangerfield, I get no sympathy.
PC: Check out the Trains news wire for today. There is a couple that really got worked over by a couple of DEA agents in Albuqurque last year. Makes you wounder what this country is coming to.
In 21 minutes I can punch out and head for home. It's been raining here since yseterday. We got about 1/4 inch yesterday afternoon and Mary Ann said several inches last night. Too wet to plow so maybe some time in the basement tonight.
