Evening all, a piece of apple pie for me please. (I need a late night snack.) Here in Western Kentucky, this "hurricane weather" (yep, it affected us all the way over here) is rather enjoyable. It's nice and cool (an awesome relief), but it's also cloudy with an occasional 5 minute mist.

Antinio: Welcome to the Coffee Shop, I think you find it rather enjoyable! By the way, if you want to bring back an old thread, do it! They're usually full of knowledge us newbies (or even pros) can use!

JPowell: Nice pics, man! Now I have to get one of those Tower 55 ES44DCs (along with one of the new SD70ACes), both with sound and DCC. That GEVO looked real good coming up through there. I do believe #5827 (the early GE in your later pics) is a B36-7. It looks like it could be retired any day now. Wink [;)]

PA Belt: Its good to see new people here on the forums and in the Coffee Shop. It seems that every time I get on the forum there is a new face around. It puts a few of those "Is this hobby dying?" propheses to rest.

My prayers go out to all that need them, and also to those who will be traveling this weekend. Be careful out there!

-Brandon

Just got back from my LHS.

I got three buildings and some horizon backdrops.

Walthers:
Glacier Gravel Co.
Merchants row 1
Freight transfer depot
Instant Horizons Freight Yard
Instant Horizons Hotels/Business.

I will assemble them tommorow.
Then I just need the Con-Cor operating hopper set, a cement factory, Trees, then details and I'm done.

What's this? It's 8:17pm and I posted at 2:25 this afternoon. Now we're on page two?! Well BUMP.

The building was delivered this afternoon and is set in place. I still have to give it a final level and put some blocks under the skids to get it right. Even with out all that it's sitting almost dead level.

I set the mock up of the head frame on the layout and it is just right. I took up the trackage fron the staging yard to make room for the mine. Staging willl have to be worked in somewhere else.

I'm off to bed now. See you all tomorrow.

Hi Gang: Just a quick one this afternoon. It's about go home time. I put together a mock up of the Cleveland-Cliffs head frame. That's the one that looks like an Egytian monolith. The prototype is concrete. I made the mock up out of gator board since I had some out in the shop. I'm going to see how it looks on the layout. I was affraid that it would be too big to not dwarf the are that it was in. I made it about 100ft high and 40ft at the base. If it looks OK I may use the mock up for the model.

Duke: I've got some picks and videos of the LS&I dock  in the upper harbor. Did you get to see a ship docked there? This dock has had new automatic doors added on the south side. Before a man had to get down on the cat walk to open the doors to let the ore flow. With the auto matic doors he stands on the upper deck and releaces the door. Much safer and takes one less man.

Fergie: I forgot to welcome you back yesterday.Soooo.Sign - Welcome [#welcome]Sign - Welcome [#welcome]

They are supposed to deliever the building this afternoon. I hope the guy brings some help because all of mine has dissapeared. Funny how that works when a big job is going down.Confused [%-)]

Not much else to talk about. My best to evryone and I'll see you all later.

Afternoon all

Mowed the lawn this morning and then washed the bike and got done just in time as it started to sprinkle but no rain yet.

Not much else going on so for Paul and the rest here are some more pics from the trip.

All of these are of the working one in the North harbor

That’s about it

Talk to you later

Goo afternoon to all, we are on the East side of Ernesto, plenty of clouds and wind but no rain at all. JP is getting all the rain in NY near Syracuse.

JP: Nice pics!!! Good job my friend!!

LUC: You are really making up for lost time, I see you are going DC rather than DCC??

DUKE: Thanks for keeping HD in the black and preserving my special parking spot. I noticed that the Auburn, Ma store where I go had plenty of 2" foam too.

INCH53: We have West Nile variety here too , but no cases this year to my knowledge. We now have prowling BEARS. The next town north of us, Holden, Ma, has reverse 911, and they alerted all their townspeople to be watchful of Black bears on the prowl.

JP & ED: Looks like the Red Sox young pitcher has cancer. It is treatable however. I have never in the 67 years of following the Red Sox, ever saw so many injuries happen all at once. Wakefield, Curt, Nixon, Jason Varitek, Big Papi, Shortstop, CF, etc. etc. It is unbelievable!!!!

RYAN: How did you guys fair in Ernesto? Looks like the eastern part of NC got all the heavy rain.

Talk later,
Dick If you do what you always did, you'll get what you always got!! Learn from the mistakes of others, trust me........you can't live long enough to make all the mistakes yourself, I tried !! Ok. Maybe a few more pics to entice your palette for railfaning and modeling…

The 1st few are from an ‘older’ industrial / business park area in Syracuse…

If you look at the sides of these 2 buildings closely, you can see the possible location for doors for loading / unloading:

If you look close to the left side of this pic, you can see that there are 2 sets of track. Off the top, is the current CSX (ex CR, exx PC, exxx NYC) mainline. I wonder if there at one time, was a switch between here and the main that could have been the reasoning for 2 sets of track that are intermingled?

Little Falls Lumber Co. is to the left; on the right, is the lead from the CSX mainline:

Up close shot of the spur into Little Falls Lumber Co.

Parked on a siding behind the local CSX crew shop (just off the right side of the pic):

And finally, is the CSX Engine Shop (look close – blue bldg behind the 2 engines on the left):

Ok, this is all I have. There are some others in the album, but did not want to overload you all with them. Please feel free to check out the album.

In a few weekx, I’ll have some of my models to share with you all.

Take care!

Morning all –

Hope this finds everyone in good hands.I woke up this morning @ 7:30 to some sun and clouds. Now, @ 10:25, it’s cloudy and raining; yep, the remains of Ernesto are upon us here in Central and Western NY today. Well, I am waiting on the CFO to call for my assistance if she decides that we’re still doing the trim molding in the bathroom or not. So, while I wait for the answer, I decided that I’d post more pics of my railfanning trips of late.

The 1st few are of the StackTrain that Neal (NESU) mentioned in his last post…

The next few are just various ones from different spots near the local CSX yard…

Well, I think this will do it for now. I have to upload some more pics to my album so that I can share those with you all as well.

Till then, have a good day railfanning or modeling, and be safe in doing so.

Take care!

Mornin all, how bouts the farmers special, OJ,  n coffee Janie, since this one on me today.
Another cool damp day in store, chance of rain for today and every day for the next week here.
Latest from from Springfield is; no charges filed on the mother for burying her baby and she's getting her kids back. Don't know what this worlds coming too.
Got some more time in the train room yesterday, glued a couple of the retaining walls glued in place. Hope to get some drywall mud down this weekend, then I can start in on painting, When thats done I can get more road bed and track down. Progress seems slow, but it's coming togaither.

RYAN,, glad ya'll made it through ok, I imagine it was a trying night for awhile. Hope RT's doing ok with the weather.

LUCT,, glad Gloria is still improving and Glotown is progressing. Round here there was both angle and parrell parking, just depened on what town you were in, Martinsville and Casey has both downtown still.

GRAYFOX,, we have West Nile virise here to worry bout, but it hasn't been to bad here. I've only heard of 4 cases in the state so far.

FERGIE,, great to have you back, hope you had a good vouage.

ANTONIO,, welcome to the CS, hope you enjoy your visit here. I don't mind rehashing the old stuff, helps me remember things I've forgot and wanted to try someday. If'en you would tell us a little bout yourself, modeling interest, scale n such things.

MOW PHIL,,, congrad on the granddaughter, nothing like them is there. Pretty name for a pretty girl to. I got to hold our youngest grandson Tank, wasn't even cleaned up yet.
We'll keep you in our thoughts that all goes well with your treatments

JP,,, I check out your pics, looks like you have some good rail fanning there. That FURX 3008 makes it down here every once in awhile, thought I had a pic too, but haven't found it yet.

BILL T, thanks for the doughnuts first, we've enjoyed them. Never heard of a logging line in IND either, but know there's a lot of down there. The paper mill in Terre Haute use to get train loads of pulp wood, but don't know where they came from. Havn't seem any there for years now.

GMT,, don't know now if she's going to CN. or not. One of her bosses thought it was some where else this year. Hope they make up her mind soon.

Needs to get started on chores and get Mother up to go yard saling this morning. Hey ya'll HAM N BEANS over ta campground A bout 5 today, any body that wants to come is welcome too. Good Morning All,

Just hanging out at work until the crew shows and we go up to Lime Rock to get wet. At least this is our home track and home at night is home and not a hotel room. So far so good - everything running and ok.

Welcome Antonio - this is a good place to hang out and sometimes we even talk about trains.

Luc - looks good - must feel good to get all the track down finally. Maybe now you can give those hobos in your boxcars a ride out of town.

Inch - Danbury is about an hour from Hartford right on rt 84 on the NY border. If you get out this way by all means let me know and we'll meet..

Time to leave - y'all have a good un.   Big Smile [:D]J.R.

Hey Phil,

Congrats on the babe, and I pray the chemo goes well too!  Glad you're feeling well enough to post after doing that today.  I know it can really take it outta ya!  Oh, and my daughter was 6lbs 13oz when she was born.  She's a little bigger now that she's a teenager!

Oh, and Luc,

That layout is really shaping up!  Keep posting those pics!

Evening All –

Just got done uploading a few pics to my album over on Trainboard.com / Railimages

My name over there is JPowell. Please feel free to look at the few pics I have uploaded. (edit: Just click on the 'www' button at the end of my post for instant access to my album!) Once I figure out how to make them show up on here, I’ll show off 1 or 2 of them.

Antonio -

Welcome friend! Stop by more often. We've acquired many newbies in here as of late and they may be able to learn from your wisdom, as well as some of us 'vets' of the CS.

Mass. Dick / Ed –

How about those Red Sox? Won last night, and are up 2-0 top of the 8th. Kyle Snyder gave up 2 hits and got 8 K’s over 7 innings. Glad to see Big Papi is doing good and that Nixon, Varitek, and possibly Gonzo will be back on Sunday or Monday. I was sad to hear about Rookie Jon Lester’s condition. Thank God they have caught it in time and that it’s non-cancerous. On a positive note, do you think the Yankees will keep Paviano after this latest goof (not telling them of the accident he had 2 weeks ago)? I know they fined him and have told him he’s not going to pitch except possibly in relief over the next 2 weeks!

Well all, time for me to get some sleep. CFO wants me to put up some molding in the bathroom tomorrow.

Take care!

Ok Paul. Her name is Ansley Patricia Bean ( Patricia for her grandmother, my wife who we lost to *** cancer in Jan 1998 ) She checked in at 6lb13oz and 19 1/2 inches. After a 18 hour delivery I suggested to my son that if he valued his life and marrage that this was not a good time to discuss adding a little brother are sister to the family. Thanks for the interest. Evening Gang:

Phill MOW: Congratulations there grandpa. Good to hear that the chemo went well also. So how about some more info on the dear one?Wow!! [wow] And Sign - Welcome [#welcome] to the little one.

Sign - Welcome [#welcome]Antonio: I've seen your stuff n the forums. I've never had a problem with bringing up old posts. There is usually new info and who knows someone might learn something. I'm glade to see you here. We are a very laid back bunch as I'm sure you have noticed. There is always a willing ear and a cup of coffee waiting. Sign - Welcome [#welcome]

No house for Sara the Little Locomotive today. Maybe tomorrow around 4pm.Sad [:(]

A corner on the edge of the layout has crossed my mind. I figure I could steel enough room from the isle for a shovel and a truck being loaded then a haul road up to a dump for a conveyer to the loader. I'd have to protect it some how maybe with plex.

I just received my order for #148 kadee couplers, the extra springs are just loose in the package not in a capusle as noted in instructions. I am looking forward to installing them to just see if they are as good as everyone claims ( I am sure that statement will result in many replys ).

Last week my chemo doctor postponed my chemo due to some blood counts so we decided to go see the kids in Augusta, Ga as they were expecting. We called to tell them to be informed that they were inducing labor on Monday. So we ended up with the surprise Tuseday morning at 12:20 AM.

Mother and granddaughter both doing fine. I was the first to hold her, something I didn't think I would get to do. I thank the Lord for the chance. Had chemo was today, so far so good. See you guys later. Phil
