Man, this forum is so weird...I'm having all kinds of trouble with it. I finally managed to get page 1125 to appear for me...So, Good Afternoon everyone.

Okay, I can see my avatar and signature now...But I should have an animated avatar...I'll have to tinker with that.

Paul: I had considered going into teaching at one point. I'm not really all too interested in it at the moment...Which is kind of ironic, because I have almost 100 SSL hours done by tutoring and teaching alone. The other 30 or so have come from miscellanious odd jobs and projects. It isn't completely out of the question at the moment, and I have plenty of time to decide whether I want to try it or not. Teaching 7th throught 9th graders how to make PowerPoint games and watching them progress in only a week was actually quite rewarding.Approve [^]

KJ: CONGRATS! She's a fine lookin' newborn. And she's of a great size as well. I was only 7 pounds and 11 ounces when I was born...And I think I was under 18", but uncertain. Glad to hear that everything with mother and daugther is going well. And now it is your duty as a grandfather to expose the little one to Grandpa's Hobby. Wink [;)]

Okay y'all, I'm off. I have about half an hour before I go to work...And after we close, I get to help with inventory...Woohoo...Catch y'all later.

Good afternoon everyone, today was so hot that I jumped into the pool and stayed there. The air temp was 91, it is 86 now, but felt like 130 in the sun. It was too hot to do anything outside except sit in the shade witha cold drink.

KJ , congrats Grampa!!!! Have you bought her a Thomas train yet??

ALEX...Happy Birthday......how old are you now? Or, should I re-phrase that, how young are you now?

Has anyone seen DER John on the forum yet? Fergie must be at sea and no internet available to re-register.

Hello All!

Just a coffee please Chloe, thanks!

JPowell - Looks like the local police are not even going to try to find out who did it.  Stuff like that just makes one mad and the cops attitude encourages people to take the law in to their own hands.  Hopefully in spite of the police, the vandels will be caught, then the insurance companies can do their "thing".

The movie Cars was much better than I expected.  My boys loved it.  As a race car fan, it was great to see how close they came to creating a race track feel.

Need to get ready for my trip.  Night all!

JP, I'd have to echo Gumby's comments.  It's too bad that people treat each other like this, both on the part of the bad guys and the indifference of the police.

Good Evening Gang: Good news tonight, at least for Mary Ann. We had a cow that looked like she swallowed the Good Year blimp. We've been expecting her to have the calf anyday for the last two months. Today she had a little heiffer. It's a cut little thing, much smaller then her mommy looked. It's doing well.

JP: Being vandalized is bad enough but when the police don't seem to care, that's really bad. If you get them I've got a tree that was used a few times in the past for handling that sort of thing.Angry [:(!]SoapBox [soapbox]

It's bed time and I need it. I'll see you all tomorrow.

Good Night All

Good evening gang, I was just passing thru so I thought I'd stick my head in.  This is my first visit here since the forum moved to its new digs, it took awhile for me to figure out how to restore my previous 'trademarks'...

Paul, glad to hear about the new addition to your stable,  I enjoyed our wireless chat this afternoon.

Speaking of new additions...KenM, congrats on becoming a GranDad!

JP - I saw the video and I feel Kristin's pain.  Vandalism enrages me more than simple theft; a thief is merely selfish to the point of being indifferent, but a vandal's actions spawn from sheer malice.  Hope somebody nails the ******* since apparently the local police aren't interested in doing so...

It's getting late, and I work tomorrow, so...g'nite!Zzz [zzz]

Hey y'all...Guess what...Anyone here like Transformers???

TRANSFORMERS: HEARTS OF STEEL is about our favorite Autobots and Decepticons back in the Wild West...And they are disguised as STEAM POWERED ITEMS! Well, some of them are at least. Megaton is a giant cannon...But it's cool nontheless. I got the first comic in the series today...John Henry's in it. All I can say is...It's about time they did something like this.

CHECK IT OUT!

Please put my (the Leavings) family, the Dawson family and Nix family in your prayers.

Mine and the Dawson family: My cousin by marriage (Dawson) was killed last night (07-15-06) in an auto-bicycle accident. He and his wife (my cousin) had just left my house heading home when it happened.

Mine and the Nix family: My aunt's boyfriend's mother died less then an hour of my cousin's accident.

Thanks for all your prayers.

JP: I don't know what is wrong with some people these days, we have some of your finest young men and women trying to fight for freedom in Iraq and other areas, then we have the "village idiots" that have nothing better to do with their freedom. I would like to take these characters to a boot camp and "change " their attitudes big time. They would be changed individuals when I got through with them.

Coffee and a donut please Chloe, thanks.

Just stopped by before hitting the road again.  Going to be in Austin this week, I may get a chance to check out some of the LHS.  Of course it is suppose to be 150 degrees in the shade there so I might just hide in the room.

Be safe and have fun.  See you on Thrusday.

Morning Gang: I am here at work having a quick breakfast before punching in. Thanks to Bill T. again for bringing in the donuts and putting on the coffee.

So far the only problem I'm having with the new forums is that I keep getting notified of replys to the coffee shop and any other post that I made a reply to. I'v gone into my profile and placed a no in the notifey of reply space. Every time I check my E-mail I have a dozen notifeys in there. So any way any help would be appreciated.

Lil Rob: You will be in my thourhts and prayers. That was sure a hard string to take.

Ken: I'll be in touch today. Again that presentation was great.

I'd better go and punch the clock. I'll see you all later.

Mornin Zoe, Just a cup of coffee today. I can't stay long.

Thank you all for your well wishes. Piper will probably inherit Jamie's Thomas trains. Right now she lives 814 miles north of my house but that will change soon. I got the news this morning that my job in Norfolk starts on August 1st. That doesn't mean I'll be moving then, but it will be soon. Unfortunately I hear they don't have basements under their houses up there. I'll probably get an apartment up there for a few months. Until we buy and make the move I'll work on dioramas.

LILROB: I'm sorry to hear the bad news. Our prayers are with you.

PC: Enjoy the new house. I may be seeking advice in the coming months.

Well I have to get to work.

KJ

Good Morning Zoe and everyone;

Coffee sure smells good, how about some grits, eggs, link sausage and biscuit.

I'm new to the neighborhood and will drop in from time to time for especially the coffee and conversation.  Just retired and so far both me and the wife are enjoying it.  We get to hang out and talk, like we did when we were first married 45 years ago. Kids (B &G) Both married and children of their own.  It's rough for the parents of today. I would not like to raise a family in this day and age with all the changes they face.

Enjoyed the breakfast Zoe. So long folks.

Monday, July 17, 2006

Good morning! How about a hot cup of coffee and a bowl of cereal with some ice cold milk, and a glass of Ed’s fresh squeezed OJ.

Finally got to work on the lawn this weekend, spent over 2 hours in the yard and did it wipe me out. The heat really got to me this time, or it is a product of getting older too. It had been two weeks and the grass was getting high in some areas. Why is it that the grass will not grow where you want it to, but takes over areas where you want it to stay out?

Went to the dentist on Saturday, had a gold crown re-cemented and the bi-annual cleaning too. Dentist said my teeth looked like I was chewing rocks, worn down and that I should stop chewing the pebbles. I have a bad habit of chewing ice, guess I need to stop that activity. Before you know it all I will be able to eat is pureed food. Smoothies are not too bad, but a nice thick steak is fun to eat every once in awhile.

So I spent about 2 hours in the train room on Sunday afternoon, cut the leading edge off the plywood to form a nice curved edge. Then I finished cutting the template for the next section of track to be laid.

I was tired this weekend, and just felt drained most the time, like all the energy is getting zapped out of me. I suppose that a doctor visit is in order soon. I just want to go back to sleep now too…

Not sure why, but the quotes feature is not working this morning in my preview of this post, so....

Jim, I am just about to put down some cork roadbed onto plywood sub-roadbed and have not quite decided how to go about doing it, at least in the adhesive to use the process for getting the cork to stay in place while it dries. What process and materials do you use for your cork roadbed?

Happy Birthday Alex!  Happy B-Day [bday] Any celebration plans for the BD?

Nigel, I am still in the track laying and wiring stage, but hope to have the DCC system hooked up soon. I will be sure to keep you all updated on the progress. You can always visit my website link below my signature to see the latest updates on my layout.

Welcome back TrainFreak aka Scott! I agree, the new forum is not as user friendly! Gonna take some getting used to I bet!

Hey Inch, nice pics, but what is that a field of anyway in the foreground?

Congratulations Ken on the new born there, how does it feel being a grand pa now?

Hey, PC, sounds exciting to be getting ready for the new house. But why you getting rid of the bird?

JP, sorry to hear about the vandalism on the car, that is always frustrating. Years ago we lived in a not so good side of town and my truck was vandalized on a number of occasions, really not a good feeling. I am sure it was really a shock since you are in a nice area. Looks like the kind of stuff teenagers would do late a night. Best of luck with getting it all straightened out. Thanks for sharing the video.

Robert, sorry to hear about that. Thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this time.

Have a safe trip Gumby!

inch, don't you worry about that!  I've got that covered!

Ken, anything you want to ask, you go right ahead.  You can Email me if you want to ask a little more privately.  I did a lot of soul searching and praying before I did anything.  If my experiences can help you in some way, I'm all yours!

Ryan, we love the bird, don't get me wrong.  She's great!  But I'm working full time and going to school full time.  Seems like I'm never around, ya know?  My wife and children have Muscular Dystrophy and they are getting worse.  They can't get the bird out as much or pay her the attention she needs, so the bird is upset and started to pluck herself.  The situation isn't going to get better either, so in an effort to do what's best for the bird we found her a new home.  She went there last night.  It's a shame really, because we all loved her, but this is whats best for her.

Well, I've got to run.

Prayers for all, especially LilRob!

I know what you mean about time and working and going to school. I was in the same boat 6 years ago when I was working full time and going to night school, did that for 2 1/2 years to get my bachelors degree in IS.

Hope all is well with you and the family!
