Hoople

No wonder we keep changing location! You people post at a rate of about 3 pages a day!

I can hardly keep up...

I don't even try to keep up anymore. I just go with the flow.

Good morning.

It's 43 and cloudy. The high will be 60 and it will clear off to partly cloudy.

Nothing much done on the layout yesterday as I was occupied doing a backup on my computer. A DVD can only hold so much and I went through quite a few of them. I'm really not sure what I'll be doing today. I got a really interesting phone call yesterday from a guy who said he was with the IRS and had to discuss something with me about the amount of reportable income on the tax return I filed this year. I knew this guy was a scammer right from the start but decided to play his game up to a point. Apparently he had questions about how much I earned each month and needed to check it against my bank account activity. Of course for this he would need the number of the account in question. This was all very amusing and I was trying my best not to burst out laughing. You see, I had no reportable income last year and there was none listed on my income tax info, all that was listed was simply a 'not required to report' since my income was below the amount that can be reported. He tried the old 'if you don't tell me what I want to know I'll sieze your account' routine, (an account he didn't have a number for in the first place, otherwise why would he be trying to get it) at which point I hung up on him. There was no phone number data on the caller id entry so I have to assume he was using a caller id blocker. If he calls back (He's a fool if he does) I will be recording the conversation. I'm just wondering how he got my number. Only a handful of people know it, mostly fellow modelers. The main thing that tipped me off that he was a fake early on was when he said he was looking at my return and noted I was living in the New Orleans area. The only thing I have that's from that area is my phone number area code. I'm on the other side of the state and a heck of a lot farther inland. Texas is only 18 miles away. Boy, some of these scammers are D-U-M-B!

Good morning, nice and sunny (for now).  Rain, and thunder later.

Well I am in the same boat with Jeff.  I just go with the flow.

Jeff, scary shot.  I know its going to be bad when you look behind the trees, and all you see is "Black Clouds".   Are you not worried about them falling down?  The look real close.

The wife went to get her contacts, and a eye check up.  She said "you should have train hunted while I was waiting.  Well so far I have heard three trains since shes been gone.  Thats my luck.

I got me a few new "weathering" projects to start on.  That will give me something to do.

Well everybody have a good day.

Heres a old shot.  ENJOY!!!

Are you referring to this shot?

I've been on this site for about 26 years (12 years with an RV, 14 years with my 25' trailer) through tornadoes and hurricanes and have lost only a couple of trees. There are over 120 on the property (1/2 acre). Half of those are pines.

Mornin' everyone!

Zoe I'll have one of those Butter Rum Muffins you have in the case and a bottomless cup of dark roast in a FGLK mug.  Thanks!

Somehow they did it again...... The kids at Geneva High pulled off an incredible show last night.  Only a couple small screwups in the sound.  Considering what it looked like a week ago, it was a miracle!  Another Show tonight, and then the matinee on Sunday.  I will be acquiring several almost whole sheets of slightly used Foam insulation board at the end of the show.  I should be all set for "mountain" making for the rest of the layout............

Today is calling hours for my FIL with the funeral right after.  I will be able to be there for them but will have to leave right after the funeral to get to the High School for Stage Call.  My Sister in Law from California has made it back, it will be good to see her.

Well, I need to finish my coffee and get moving!

Hope you all have a good day!

Ray Seneca Lake, Ontario, and Western R.R. (S.L.O.&W.) in HO

We'll get there sooner or later!

Sawyer, I meant to add this last night, but kept getting "OOPSed." NICE job on the U-boat. I especially like the way the paint seems to have peeled off in places, leaving bare and rusting metal exposed. The hopper behind it looks good too. Thumbs Up

Yeah I was.  I guess they are pretty strong.  We had a bad wind storm a few months ago, and the pine trees were all over the place.

Good Morning, Zoe - I'll have some waffles, maple syrup (the big jar, please), glass of Ed's OJ, glass of milk and a cup of coffee, please. Thanks!

Had the ol' "OOPS" page last night (around 8:30 Central time), and didn't want to stay up too late waiting for it to get fixed (I was on-call Thursday night and got 5 hours sleep, in a one hour and four hour sections). I didn't even set my alarm this morning. Think I half-woke up somewhere around 4-something (but didn't look at the clock, 'cause I never do that if I'm trying to sleep the rest of the night), went back to sleep, and then got up a bit after 7 a.m.

Got a nice suprise this morning - as I was finishing my readings, heard a knock on the door, and there are my daughter and grandson, leaving me my invite to Drew's (First) birthday party (April 5th, a day before the actual date). They were then on the way to visit Andy (son-in-law) at his work. So that was a nice start to the day!

Chris, I get the 'Doc' label too, when I'm at the local police departments from some of the officers.I tell 'em I'm still not going to assess them for their own 'vacation' for 4 days...Smile,Wink, & Grin

Got an email from our LHS owner/MRR club member that my Walthers clearance sale order came in (early, dang it). He may have to hold onto it until payday, but he's done that for me a time or two when the order shows up way earlier than I'd/he'd thought it would arrive. I noticed that Dallas ModelWorks' specials that he's running through the end of the month appear to be from the same list (which our LHS owner emailed the club members). DMW's prices are almost as good as what I get as a club member. (And in terms of disclosure, yes, I've ordered stuff from Craig there at DMW in the past. He's done me right on my orders, so I'm on his email list.)

Jeff, do you think the pines are old enough to be stronger, but flexible enough that they give just a little when you have winds/tornadoes there? How deep into the woods are you? I would guess that if you're a bit into the woods, the trees out by the edge of the woods would deflect a storm. But I'm just guessing here.

Ray, sometimes at high school plays the 'kids' do an amazing job on them, don't they? Thumbs Up for them!

Well, my breakfast brunch's here, so I'll "let my food stop my mouth..."

Blessings on your weekend and your MRR'ing,

jim in Cape Girardeau

Coffee in a large  SOUTHERN PACIFIC  mug, please & thanks.

Seems "Jeffrey's Storm" has been slamming south Georgia today. Up here int he NW corner of the state it's a blustery, raw day.

Wonder what it's like to ride a train through a storm?

Hope everyone is having a good day.

Good morning, All.  I am getting a slow start this morning.  Sew til midnight was exactly that.

I plan a little structure work this morning, and then Larry is taking me out to dinner for my B'day.  It has been a week long party that will continue through Monday.  Thanks for being part of my party.

Thanks Chris. I'm going to do a LOT more to the hoppers though.

As to the U-boat, I've had it done for a while (going to hopefully take car of the trucks today), just never got any good pics of it. As to the paint scheme peeling, where on the loco does it seem like it is?

My ankle is fealing fine today; I'm going for a walk later, so we'll see how it feals after that.

Afternoon Gang: I guess the right sideof the page is going to head off into the nether world. I tried the compatibility view but it didn't work. I guess I'll just see how far it will go.

Not much doing here. John and I hauled hay from his place about 35 miles west of here yesterday. We got 12 bales in two loads. He hauled 8 bales on the goose neck and I got 4 with the pick up and 16 ft trailer. I feed out two bales yesterday and the cows were not happy with it. They are spoiled but will come around when they get hungry.

The weather here went right to December yesterday. It's cold and very windy right now. Much better being inside.

Well I think that I'll get going and clean the garage some so I can get some of the stuff off the layout.

See you all later.

Well I got TOPS so eat up guys.

Well, to me, that's what it looks like to the left of the Santa Fe on the hood. Might be road grime/munge... I thought it looked like weathered/oxidized/grimy bare metal, and wondered "how'd he pull THAT off?"

Difference in interpretation vs. reality??

Weather guessers say tornado weather is moving into the area. Looks stormy. Is this your "fault", Jeff?

You read right Jim, getting a new CFO on April 18th.  She's not into trains but she doesn't mind that I am.  She already knows how wacko I am, I tried talking her into getting married in July so we could go to Hartford for a honeymoon.  She nixed the idea as soon as she found out about the NMRA convention.  Duke met her when we met him and his friend at Steamtown last year.  She only put one restriction on the honeymoon, no tourist train locations>Sad

Two trees came down here on the ol' farm. One little, the other fairly substantial. The latter took out a section of fence where our miniature stallion lives, Will have to chainsaw it later. Don't think he can get out with the crumpled fence and large trunk in the way. Still gusty here.

Afternoon all,  The weather here is... aahhhh un-inspiring to say the least.  Cloudy, chilly, damp, probably like the rest of the east coast, haven't looked.

Worked on the plant and the freight car building a bit.  It's getting big so I'm taking my time.  I'll be adding supports when I get enough done to put them in. I'll try and get some pics up later.

Chloe!  Eclair and a decaf please!

Well, I'm gonna sound like I'm bragging here...but for our honeymoon, we went to...Boone, Iowa. We rode the Boone and Scenic Valley RR. For our 1st. anniversery, we went back to Boone, springing for tickets to ride in the ex-RI wide-vision caboose.

Was that a barrage of pies I just saw flying by me????

Sometimes I wish I had that. One highway (rt.35) is 1 1/2 blocks west, another (rt.71) is 1 1/2 blocks east.  The town is 1 mile square surrounded by dozens of other 1-2 square mile towns.  All have their own government, grade schools, police, fire, library, dpw, etc.  Welcome to New Jersey!   Well it's not all that bad, the Atlantic is 7 blocks away.....

yeah man. Well, i just applied more powders to a boxcar I'm working on, and the derned can of semi-gloss ran out when I was about half-done spraying the bloody thing, so now I need more semi-gloss! GREAT!

So, didn't do the U23B trucks, but I did get both the ballasting finished and the basic front scenery of my diorama finished up, and the aforementioned boxcar.
