Jeff, interesting  um.. whatever 30 you've got there!  Why?

Why not? I have the pieces, might as well have some fun with it. I've decided a good nomonclature for it would be SD30J.

Chloe, Shrimp Scampi please.

My huge Walthers order came today.  The modular kits are on sale so I stocked up.  I'll need them for the coffee plant. There will be a lot of compression required overall but the focus is on the car switching so that will be the focus   The starting benchwork is together, just need to get the base material.

I'll get some pictures up when I have a chance.

I've got a hunch, you are positively dangerous around April 1st...

You just have no idea. My relatives try to avoid me on April 1st.

Duly noted!

Warnings to be posted in and around the Diner starting 25 March to give all patrons one-week's notice...

They are indeed six wheel trucks.

Thanks JEFF: I guess I'm not completely losing my mind, my grip on reality, my sanity, my eyesight...and everything else I've been questioning all day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just kidding.

I think what had me pondering it the most, and debating it (4 wheel vs. 6), was the non-EMD trucks. My mind told me what I "should" be seeing...and I wasn't, causing a disconnect.

I've got a hunch, you are positively dangerous around April 1st...

but I'd swear I'm seeing six-wheel trucks, making this an SD-30...

Thought the same thing, but what you're seeing looks to me, is the other side rear wheels. The angle makes it look like it's in the middle. That camera of Jeffs is so clear on closups!

They are indeed six wheel trucks. The body is on either a Kato or Atlas drive (not sure which) that was the drive of a kitbashed nightmare somebody sent me a year or so back. It is DCC and runs like a champ.

If that were my old GP30, I would be more inclined to make a dummy GP30 with the proper trucks. But it's not mine, and I like seeing Jeff have fun with his creativity.

Not possible. The trucks that came with it were quite trashed. The rear one was cracked beyond repair an dthe front one was frozen up by epoxy.

Daylight Savings time ticks me off.

I understand completely why, you can't sleep in the fall and are tired in the spring.

I got a new camera for my trip with the Music boosters' trip to San Antonio this April, and was taking layout pictures on it.  Unfortunately, my computer requires 10 software updates to download those pictures, so they are going to have to wait.

Does anyone other than me detail the inside of your buildings that you don't light?

 Afternoon everyone!

Rainin' outside.....  Was nice all morning and started to rain right about concert time.  After the concert I got everything packed up and on a cart and went to get my car.  It had stopped raining.  I get in car and start the engine.....Raining.........  Rained all the time I am loading sensitive electronic equipment into back of car.  Get home, stopped raining.  Yes!  I back into driveway to get as close to the front porch as possible, get out of car, starts raining again.  Rained while bringing in several loads of sensitive electronic equipment that shouldn't get wet..........  Decided to wait a while to see if it would stop raining.  Turn on computer and start to type this post..... Raining has stopped.

Jeffrey, looks to me like you got some kind of diseasal thingy there.  I can't get much closer to that for accuracy on them things.  Anything more modern than an RS3 is out of my knowledge base.

Ah yes we get to lose an hours sleep tonight.  Wow!!Yeah!!Whistling   Every year when we lose an hours sleep, I have to be up early that morning to go do something!  Camp Show tomorrow at a nearby Mall.  A couple of us will be managing a table for SciTek Camp (Co-Ed Boy Scout/Venturer camp).

BTW any of you know the difference between a Tuba and a Lawn Mower?

[edit} Now that I finished typing and did the post,................ It has started raining again!Sigh

Hi guys,

Some requested in the last day or two for a prayer candle so one is lit for them and all those who need thoughts and prayers.

Jeffrey, aw, you're just funnin' us. I see your glasses in the background of that pic so don't loose them again! {lol}

Don't forget all those who change clocks in the USA  that TONIGHT 2 AM becomes 3 AM! Spring ahead!

YippY ! That kinda maybe means *spring* is actually on its way!

Coffee in a large SOUTHERN mug, please & thanks.

The little busted up (N) trestle I aquired recently arrived today. Should be easy enough to repair. What struck me when I brought it down to the train room is that my Big tresstle has simply got to be HO and not N scale. Yikes, now what? Do I use a HO trestle on my N scale layout? It's too big for the wife's layout. Didn't bother me until I saw a genuine N scale trestle next to it. The little trestle will be placed well back in the canyon, so perhaps I could get away with using it? Any suggestions?

Running on fumes today. Making an effort but not getting much done. Should sleep well tonight.

Those are six wheel trucks but not from EMD. I guess that RSC-30 might be good.

What would you call it? Before you jump the gun and blurt out 'GP30' take a close look then come up with a name for it. Keep it clean.

Maybe I'm a little fuzzy this morning from being up way too late trying to edit-down 467 pics from a V-ball game (got 'em down to 263, heading for 10-12 to submit to THAT editor); so I'm not exactly sure I'm seeing what I think I'm seeing... but I'd swear I'm seeing six-wheel trucks, making this an SD-30...

Or do I just need to cut back on the caffinated beverages????

Mornin' Think I'll have coffee and one of them new fangled things you call a bagle please.

I slept in til almost 8:00. The windows open and I slept like a log. Oh the smell of the outside fresh air and coffee brewing aaaaaaaaahhhhh. Another day of warmth but we are suppose to get rain and possibly Tstorms tonight.

Not much happening. Tonight's the annual Prime Rib dinner the FFA puts on. My wife usually gets tickets from the elevator. The FFA gives a couple of tickets to each of the sponsors. I would say it's good to be the Assist Manager, but she usually asks all the employees first. You'd think out of 5 elevators in the co-op, someone would want to go. Oh well, It ain't Ryans prime rib but it isn't bad. Fund raiser you know. They always do well.

Might just try something new today. Finish projects before starting a new one. Hmmmm. Maybe I'd best go out on the back porch and think about this.

Hello again diners!  I'm just jumping in for a second...  I have abusy weekend and a lot of homework to complete before monday morning hits...

I'm sorry that I haven't been able to catch up on the conversations...  I tried last night but my eyes started rollin' in the back of my head...  wasn't fun trying to focus on the screen and suddenly waking up face down on the keyboard...  LOL and for real!

JR:  Beautiful baby girl there!  Congrat's Grandpa!!!

Sawyer:  I am in agreement with the others about your situation (football)...  Make sure you think it over thoroughly.  I have so many Shoulda, Coulda, Woulda things on my list...  Don't wind up with a lot of regrets because of a quick decision...  I did, and try to help other prevent the same mistake...

If anyone has anything they want me to pray about for them, or want me to put on my churches prayer list, please PM me???

Here's how my week went:

Tuesday: Orientation.  (Pretty interesting findoung out about rate of pay and benefits)

Wednesday:  Study Tutorial, (get paid for eight hours to learn better study skills! Excellent!)

Thursday: First day in the classroom...  and first two quizes... Don't worry I passed (They were on NORAC Definitions and Hand signals!)

Friday: Slept right through my alarm, wound up 11 minutes late for class, got written up (not to worry, you can have 5 write ups within the first six months of training [and i don't plan on any more])  found out our seniority for the class (who can bump who, the RR works on a bid-n-bump system) I am #10 of 19, right smack in the middle of the pack!  But as the union reps said, there are still 400 engineers ahead of us when we get out there!

On a great note:  I found out that my On the Job Training for the first section will end the week before my wedding!!!  So I won't have to worry about working an overnight shift running engines around a yard the night of my wedding day!

Well, to all those in need, which is all of us, my prayers are with and for you.   I will try to stop in from time to time!  See ya folks!

Everyone have a RBF on me!!!

Sam

May He bless you, guide you, and keep you safe on your journey through life!

72 degrees today, and pretty much all sun......I'm good with that!

Later!

Oh, and Chloe, hook everyone up with some coffee and donuts, would ya?

PC, that is one teeny-weeny hand car!!  That's one reason I'll stick with HO. The cats would probably eat something that small!  I glue my people to the layout so they usually are not a problem.

My plan today is to start removing the old chimney from the attic.  Today will be warm enough to work up there comfortably.  Of course it's two flights down to get the debri outside....  we'll see.

I bought the Walthers Modular sets that are on sale with plans to modify them a bit to more resemble the architectural style used on the Hoboken plant.

Chloe, bacon and eggs please!

Morning Gang: It's been another early morning. We got up at 4:30 and I took Mary Ann to the dialysis center. I got her settled in and then came home. I expect that she will sleep through the proceedure  since she didn't get in untill 11:30pm last night. The granddaughters group took top place in the compitition. They each got a medal and the group got a large trophy. Mary Ann said that Sara cryed when she got her's.

I need to get out and feed the cattle. I vacumed out the cab of the tractor. The floor was getting so dirty I had trouble seeing it. Daisy the dog is in her bed so I think I'll leave her there. She had a good bit of time outside this morning while I did the tractor.

I guess I'd better get going.

See you all later.

Good morning everyone!

Thanks for the good wishes folks and and you can bet I'll be promoting trains every chance I get......Wink   My other granddaughter likes the trains, but only when one is running.  She starts to cry when it stops.

Nice day here in the Finger lakes so far.  Currently 41°F with last nights frost quickly disappearing.  May get up into the mid 50s today with some showers this afternoon.  Rain is forecast for tonight.

I am off to do a recording this morning so as soon as I finish my coffee, I'll be on my way.

Hope all of you have a great day!

We got some more outdoor work to do in the backyard before we go to the mall and get some shopping done. It looks like the rest of the week will be rainy so I'll still have MRR time --- that way I'll hopefully get the atrium done by next week!!

As for backyard work--sometime in the next couple of weeks I'll be able to get the treestump pulled out'n the ground---then we'll see just how much reseeding needs done----BTW--this morning my wife and I saw the bald eagle that is apparently nesting around our area. Good morning.

It's 63 and mostly cloudy. The high should be around 80 and it will be partly cloudy.

I received some items in the mail yesterday to use for whatever parts I can get from them. These are an early 60's example of an Athearn GP30, an early model Athearn F dummy B unit and several Athearn freight cars, all of which have varying degrees of damage. A couple of the cars can be fixed rather easy. The other two are basket cases which will be stripped of any usable parts. One, a three dome tank car, will eventually be kitbashed into an on site oil storage tank. The dummy F booster unit has already been weighted and fitted with metal wheels (from the GP30). The GP30 chassis has been completely stripped. The motor is a hopeless cause. My test meter gets a direct short across the poles. The metal truck side frames will look good in a junk scene and I'm sure I have a GP35 chassis around here somewhere that I can fit the body shell to. One of the better cars is a PFE express reefer which needs some minor repair. A couple of hatch covers and a Kadee coupler box and it will be back in service. The other car is a SF 40' boxcar that requires only a door and Kadee couplers. All the cars have sprung trucks. Last but not least is an AT&SF light up caboose. It's missing a critical part and shorts out. It too has sprung trucks. All units have body mounted coupler boxes.
