tyler, nice video. I'm planning a 2% grade for my next alyout, and 22 in. radius curves. of course, it's N scale, so that 22 in. is actually generous. Whistling of coruse, if I get a 4-6-6-4 Challenger, and bullfrog snot one set of drivers on each set of 6, it'll haul butt Tongue

good job juggling the throttles. I note the AAT reefer is reporesenting the south, alond w/ the CSX cars and loco.

In between trackwork today I managed to film another short clip...

Have any of you tried to operate a 22 car train on a 4% grade around a 22" radius curve, two-fisting throttles for the head and pusher engines (individual control is required, as no consist setup will compensate for the curves, grade, and such) while filming and trying to keep your shadow off the scene? It's not easy... I caused 6 major wrecks in less than half an hour... Not enough speed on the pusher engine stringlined 6 cars onto someone's lawn, too much speed flipped a reefer off the tracks, then there was a huge pileup behind it, and that type of thing...

In the end, I came out with this though. A low angle shot of WRS locos on their knees (During one shot, the pusher uncoupled, so I stopped it, and the two locos on the front plus 20-odd cars stalled on the grade, so they actually were working hard) heading up the East Slope of New Poland Pass. I really need to think of a new name for that too...

Railfanning WRS Train 407

Enjoy!

Oh. I think it was probably something about lining the turnout at the West end of the Stude - Dooley Siding. I really need to think of a name for that, or at least pick ONE town for it to be named after... It's now officially Stude siding!

In most states you can take any public school class even as a homeschooler. I took Tech Ed in middle school for example. Really fun class, and comedian teacher.
Go NJT, NJ Transit, New Jersey Transit. Whatever you call it its good. See my pictures and videos here: http://s239.photobucket.com/albums/ff20/Bapouthetrainman/

I've gone to public school since first grade, and I'll keep going until I graduate High school (then hopefully Clemson University Tongue ), and I'm dern PROUD of it. In my opinion, public school is the best b/c A) you get to experience real life, B) it's almsot free and about on par w/ private schools, and C) sports

only bad thing is all the crap they teach that I don't beleive (and considering the discussion in the last TMRP, I'll leave it at that).

Ozark: That's a really neat layout! There's just something about the overall look that I really enjoy! Maybe because it looks finished, but at the same time, something I could do myself (not including $100+ craftsman kits, insane skill, etc) if you know what I mean. What scale is it?

Thanks for your comments... It HO. It won't be up much longer (six months tops) as I'll be going off to college, and don't want it to collect dust more than it already is!  Plus, my dad will be using the benchwork for his own layout, while I'll recycle the components of the current system into a modular setup that I can expand when I have my own house.

Packer

Wish I could do homeschool for college.

I don't know of any homeschoolers who homeschool through collage... I know I'm going to a regular collage.

Joe: I'm pretty sure that's the same airbrush I have. The can of air was a real pain, because I had to stop every couple minutes to shake it or something (I have a compressor now and don't really remember using the can) so I'd recommend a compressor.

I'm only a Sophemore :(

You could do what my one friend who is a sophmore is planning on doing, and doubling up on school for a year so she graduates next year!

Ozark, welcome to the homeschoolers club Sign - Welcome. I'm homeschooled too.

Cool.... Although, I can only lay claim to the homeschooler club for a few months longer... I'm a senior, and have been homeschooled my whole life. I definitely recommend and will definitely do for my own kids... when I have them.... in several years....

If some of you guys remember.... when I was on here before/ over the summer, I mentioned about the paper mill section that was under construction...Here's some pics. Any comment, or constructive criticism is welcome. :

Wish I could do homeschool for college. Wouldn't have to deal with psyco professors and the staff incompetence. (why would you add several new buildings for classes, and cut it out of the parking which was already horrible)

I wouldn't use a can of air because they tend to get real cold if used alot. I have one of those huge compressors that can be used for stuff like air tools. I'm guessing if I adjust the regulator I could find out if mine will work.

Vincent

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....

2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.

I'd get a compressor... I've always used it, and heard the cans of air produce less than satisfactory results, but if you want to use them... http://www.walthers.com/exec/productinfo/542-11

Geez, it seems everyone is HSed around here... Explains why everyone posts at those weird times. Our library computers at school are bad (Macs Wink) and I don't have a study anyway.

Tried bidding on the CI on ebay last night. Got in a war. Gave up when it got to $25, just not worth it. Guess this guy REALLY wants it.

I've been thinking about getting an airbrush for a long time. I use drybrushing, but sometimes it comes out way to heavy. What do you guys think about this one. It's a full set and I don't need a compressor. I'll probably have to wait until summer when I go back to work and hopefully get a second job.

Going to see Friday the 13th tonight with some friends. They're the same ones that I saw The Unborn with (we were SUPPOSED to see Mall CopSighWhistling).

Well, I've spent my entire day off working on my Theology term paper. The lack of a roof at school gave me a chance to work on it.

Well, I'm back...

TrainManTy
... I like my bedroom roof where it is, thanks! (I'm homeschooled...)
Cool, So am I. It definitively gives me more time... if it weren't for all the other projects and organizations I'm involved with because of my flexible schedule. However, I guess I've got time now, thanks to a surgery. (Which why I'm all over the forum today... don't expect me back in force like this much again)

Anywho, not much new from me, MRR wise. I'm designing a plan for a PA modern short line, but other than that... not much else.

I have a sound decoder, and a powered GP30 Chassis, if the ATSF doesn't already have a decoder we could use the sound decoder in it...

Joe: I'm glad that didn't happen to me... I like my bedroom roof where it is, thanks! (I'm homeschooled...)

Alex: I had meant putting the Bachmann GP30 shell on the dummy chassis keeping the handrails. Both locos would need handrails anyway. Which powered GP30 chassis do you mean though? I think a Bachmann locomotive with a sound decoder is pretty much a waste of the decoder (I've commited to no powered Bachmann locomotives in my fleet) plus there isn't any room left in the shell. Or did you mean the ATSF GP30? Why would we put a Bachmann shell on a Proto 2000 loco? I'm confused...

GG, if your going to New York are you going to stop by trainworld/trainland?

Tyler, you could turn that F into a P on the GP30, so you might not have to go through the whole ATSF Geep thing. (would make it SP) Turns out the parts booklet for the new run of GP30s has both phase 1 and phase 2 handrails under one listing:

From booklet "920-584954.......GP30 low hood handrails (for phase I and phase II)........$8.00"

Speaking of which, I might try to order a few for mine. (Removing them to paint the ends doesn't always work out right) But the trick I picked up out of the most recent MR works really well for this, and step edges (my SD45s and F45 didn't have the steps painted, the SD45s didn't have the ends painted either)

Joe, lucky, I never get the stuff like that. (except one fire alarm where we had to exac the building; someone burnt some toast [might explain why cafeteria food always tasted like crap], but nothing caught fire)

That could work, although I don't think the handrails will fit on the P2k Unit. We could put the bachmann shell on the P2k Dummy Chassis, and use it as extra pick up, or we could put it on the powered GP30 chassis, and install the sound decoder I have for it (you might like that idea better)

Tomorrow I'll finish up that video. I need a couple more slides and then I need to get the sound. Should be up sometime tomorrow.

It's a single-action. I didn't see much advantage of a duel action for the extra price.

Alex: Is that one of the NH units? I still have your old Bachmann GP30 that really should have "Do Not Occupy" stenciled on it...what with the missing cab window/all weather window and the general state of disrepair of the unit... We could swap the shells and I could kitbash the remains of the Bachmann unit into a real slug unit to run with the "mother" SDP35... Plate over the windows with styrene, remove or cover the fans, and then weather the heck out of it... I'd have my rebuilder put a plug in the SDP35 so the GP30 could give electrical pickup to the SDP35 when they're running as a set... Shoot me an email about that if you're interested...

Ty, I have a slug GP30 that needs handrails if you want that... Its a dummy, but can be used as a spare cab behind the ATSF unit if need be...

I've just taken a video of my new GP30 switching New Poland Cement.

Do yourself a favor, just weather that puppy. Don't paint over that kodachrome. One of the best ever paint schemes, and the RR was never even created.

I swear I'm gonna get a loco in that scheme Big Smile

Oh no you don't!

That loco is getting WRS paint, or Tyler will face consequences... If the weather holds up I may be able to lug my Paasche and Compressor and paints out to your house next week. Only downside is my friends switched from Cornell Red to B&M Blue a few times without cleaning the tube for the paint to go up, and now I am stuck with two bottles of purplish paint... Black Eye

If i had the money, I'd buy him a new shell and tell him to send me the old one. Love that scheme, even though the RR never came about Tongue

Double Action or Single Action?

It turns out I may be in New York on Tuesday... :( If I can't make it then we could try tuesday, although I'm going to make attempts to get out of The City in the morning, and have them drop me off on the way home (If we left at nine, its possible I could be there around noon.)

Anyways, We could weather your choo choos with airbrushes... ^_^
