In between trackwork today I managed to film another short clip...

Have any of you tried to operate a 22 car train on a 4% grade around a 22" radius curve, two-fisting throttles for the head and pusher engines (individual control is required, as no consist setup will compensate for the curves, grade, and such) while filming and trying to keep your shadow off the scene? It's not easy... I caused 6 major wrecks in less than half an hour... Not enough speed on the pusher engine stringlined 6 cars onto someone's lawn, too much speed flipped a reefer off the tracks, then there was a huge pileup behind it, and that type of thing...

In the end, I came out with this though. A low angle shot of WRS locos on their knees (During one shot, the pusher uncoupled, so I stopped it, and the two locos on the front plus 20-odd cars stalled on the grade, so they actually were working hard) heading up the East Slope of New Poland Pass. I really need to think of a new name for that too...

Railfanning WRS Train 407

Enjoy!
