Neither can I. Nevertheless, my band teacher wanted me to try out for the spring musical. It's Fiddler on the Roof. She said they'll take anyone who can hold a tune. Haha, yeah ok... Besides, lacrosse starts in march anyway.

I finished the road, weathered my geep, and weathered the silos and transfer building on MPB. Have the pix, just waiting to upload them. They'll be up later, right after I get back from our game. If I don't get to it, it'll be first thing tomorrow morning, I promise.

MadSinger

By the way, my screen name is because I sing in my high school's madrigal choir, (1st Tenor and proud of it- that's the highest guy part).

sweet. The only place you could say i'm good at singing is church, b/c God don't care how good you are, so long as you praise him Big Smile

I can play the piano to save my life, but then it's just me hitting keys that sound good, put a sheet of music in front of me, and I couldn't play it.

What I am good at is knocking the crap out of people on the football field Tongue

I play the piano too, Packers1.  I'm pretty good, starting early advanced.  And, like I assume you are (but then again, you know what they say about assuming), a diehard Packers fan.  Too bad the Green and Gold are not in the playoffs this year.

That is about it for not blurry pictures.  Sorry that none of them have trains in them. The area where the first one is is completely redone.

I also finished Walther's Wally's Warehouse kit today.  It looks nice.  I'll upload a picture of that later.

btw, you lie. That's some great modeling.

like I said though, it's just me hitting keys and making it sound good. I can't read sheet music too save my butt. I also got a 4x8 (which there's a ton of pics of in the previous few pages). Do you have a facebook profile?

I model HO scale MILW Road.  I model a branch line that was torn up in the '30's as if it wasn't torn up and was still around in the mid '60's.  That's called protolancing, right?  Anyway, I have just gotten started modeling and aren't all that good yet, but I'm having fun and improving, and that's good.

Just started modeling, and you've got a prototype of a realistic size (on a real railroad line!) and a time frame within 10 years? That's great!

Many people spend years modeling a freelanced railroad stretching coast-to-coast, with an era stretching 30 years or more, buying everything that catches their eye. That's fine, but not exactly realistic IMHO...

That's not dismissing freelancing or protolancing; I model a freelanced railroad operating on a real roadbed (the Boston & Maine's Northern Division between Concord, NH, and White River Junction, VT) that was abandoned in real life, but in my reality the state contracted a private owner (the White River Southern Railroad) to operate the line.

Welcome! Do you have any photos of your work that you'd like to share?

EDIT: I just missed a few pages there.... Nice work!

Tyler, I did my research before I started because I was interested having my layout semi-realistic.  My exact trackplan isn't exactly the most realistic, especially since you can plainly see the return loop.  It's still pretty nice looking though.

Singer, looks great!

The Soo Line is getting more appealing to model...seems as though they had the same about of color in the late 80s as the WC did in the mid 90s...

Check this out, a lot of you probably didn't know the SOO bought an ex Chessie SD40...it got the patch like the MILW did, but this looks awesome! I found it ironic that a few days ago I found this unit on Flickr, and then today I saw it in a SOO Magazine.

http://sooline.dieselrosters.com/photo.aspx?lineageId=469&photoId=673

The Soo also bought some ex KCS SD40s...

http://sooline.dieselrosters.com/photo.aspx?lineageId=466&photoId=665

...Some where I saw some Ex ICG SD40/-2s...

...oh, and don't forget about there two SD45s...

http://sooline.dieselrosters.com/photo.aspx?lineageId=481&photoId=988

...add with that the Milwaukee Road bandits, the Candy Apple Red Scheme, possibly a few Parallelogram SD40-2s roaming around, along with leasers...the SOO seems pretty appetizing...if only I had the funds to do both WC and SOO.

Jordan: That last one esplains a Bachmann SD45 I saw on ebay the other day.

I tried putting a new ladder end on one of my atlas cabooses. It went okay, but as it turns out, the mounting hole that goes in the walkway is broke. Atlas doesn't show said walkways or ladder ends on their site. I plan on calling about them later to see if they are available. If it's not, then I'll just say they got taken off since they started taking all that stuff off in the mid 70s.

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....

2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.

Jordan ,those things are pretty cool.

We lost our scrimmage 12-4. Their record is 1-9, so they were happy. But a little too happy considering that they were a varsity team who murdered a 2nd year JV team. They were so dirty, and the refs didn't call anything. Not to mention the rink. It used to be a garbage disposal place, that some guy bought and turned into a hockey rink. I've heard that he bought the boards off ebay. And while skating, I fell over nothing, leading me to think that I hit some concrete or something. Anyway, we tend to do pretty good in games, but we lose almost every scrimmage we play.

Sorry, about my rant, I'm just so mad.

Pix 1st thing tomorrow.

Hmmmm, I wonder who that could be...

Finally have the pictures.

An aerial shot of the mostly completed MPB. Note the weathering on the silos and transfer building.

A tired and dirty NS GP50 pauses after switching MPB.

And the rebuild of my F40PH into NJT F40PH-2CAT 4113.

We have off today, but I'll probably end up studying all day.

I managed to squeeze in some MR work already today. I managed to make a good ladder top for my caboose, and I found a good mounting hole for it. While I was at it, I made some of the rails for my Athearn SW1500s. (I'm hoping athearn does there SW1000s soon, so I can get the better looking plastic ones and the flexicoil-B sideframes)

Later I plan to paint the handrail ends on my GP30s and change the decoder in my SW1500s. (the lenz silver is a tad big, I'm putting in a TCS M4 in it's place)

Joe, i know how bad it is to lose (my basketball team is 0-4).

I'm probably going to just do some homework today, maybe get some new shoes, etc. Probably not going to do anything model railroading related though.

Oh, that's too bad. We're 4-2 in the season, and like 0-a bagillion for scrimmages.

While running some trains before, again my Horizon kept derailing. It's pretty heavy, so IDK why. It always seems to be at the same switch, but no other cars ever derail. So, I decided that I would modify it, repaint it into NJT colors, and turn it into a platform. It's currently painted as an Amtrak horizon. Horizons are very similar to CIIs. So, I'll repaint it as a CII, remove a wall, cover some stairwells, and remove the wheels. Right now, most of the stuff I don't need is removed and the shell is soaking to remove the weathering.

I've been working on patching some freightcars...

WRS 30008:

WRS 30007:

ARK 1012:

AAT 0202698:

I also caught a pair of hoppers just repaired and put into MOW service, 90000 and 90002. The numbering system is a bit strange at this point, as the snowplow is numbered 90001, right in the middle of a number series...

(Incidentally, these are the two gravel hoppers involved in the epic (as Alex described it) runaway train wreck where the overweighted Accurail boxcar's truck pin broke...

Also, I have a use for my single Bethgon coal gondola - trash service. A railroad around here (Mass Coastal out on Cape Cod, which operates a trash train to the SEMASS power plant) uses rebuilt cars like mine for their service. All I'll need to do is add a top (I won't stretch the top just yet) and I'll have myself a car for trash service! I used to see the trash train crossing the Cape Cod Canal Lift Bridge (the 2nd largest lift bridge in the US) when it was still operated by Bay Colony, so this will bring back a lot of memories.

Photo of the model:

And the prototype:
http://www.masscoastal.com/showpic.php?photo=2008082314325921331.jpg

I took this shot with my dad's (film) camera when I was 5 or 6 of the trash train crossing the lift bridge. Spending that long in the photo album didn't work out so well for the photo, so it's pretty bad quality. This was probably my first railfan photo though...
