The guy from the-bay I bought the defective diesel from said to send it back to him and he would send it to Atlas for repairs, then send it back. Does this sound reasonable? He does have lots of sales and 100% positive feedback. If I were to send it to Atlas, I imagine I would be charged for the repair, which. Thoughts?

Yeah man. I think i know where to find it though, lol. Spent last night thinking of how I can expand my 4x8 once it's basically done, and came up with my EOL yard/industrial complex (End Of Line). I still will need to plan it out goodand proper, but for now I just have the idea, and that's all I need, because my 4x8 is a LONG way from being done.

Check this video out, it's a REAL old one. Got it from the TAMR yahoo group. It's public domain, apparently:

Happy birthday Tom!

LSWrr
Jeff, check your email.

Already did. Saw your message this morning. Thanks. And I'll see if I have any of the requested subjects.

Took off to Alexandria this morning for my eye appointment. Good news. The swelling in my eyes is gone and the bleeding has subsided by a good bit. The doc is quite happy and so am I. Had a breakdown on the way there though. I was about 10 miles up hwy 28 when the fuel pump suddenly quit. I pulled off onto the shoulder with a pretty good idea what was wrong.  Y'all really missed quite a sight. You would'a had a good laugh  watching my 260 pound body going under the back of the car. It was a tight squeeze but before I got the jack and all out I wanted to confirm my suspicion. I was right! So I got the mini floor jack out and raised the back of the car 6 inches so I could be more comfortable under there and not feel like a ham sandwich squashed  between two high school history books. Here's what the problem was. About June of 2000 one of the wires going from the fuel pump to the quick connect plug behind the gas tank had broken loose from the plug. I had fixed it by splicing a wire in ahaed of the plug and joined it to the other wire with a suitcase connector. The connector has been replaced with a new one on two occasions when I had to drop the tank to install a new pump, the last being 5 years ago.(Used a cheap pump before). Well guess what! That connector had worked loose over the years and this morning the wire arced and melted the connector! I didn't have another one to put on and didn't have the time anyway so I stripped the ends of both wires and just twisted them together. The sound of the fuel pump starting up was music to my ears (it's connected through a toggle switch to the battery). I tossed the tools in the trunk and hit 70 in six and a half seconds. Not bad for a car that's running rough. The next stop was Alexandria.

Terry in Texas; how often does it snow in Houston? That is weird...Whistling

Jim; As to the purina mill--when I finish uploading the pix onto photobucket you'll see I will be using not just a hill but a cut/fill/bridge/filled trestle type of thingumahoover. I have a mill that straddles a double track mainline with a covered walkway/conveyor belt system crossing over and having two spurs-- one 12" over height of mainline, other is about 16" below mainline. This also plays havoc with the loading bay just off Main st as all 7 of the bays in that area end up with the trailors kind of going down to the dock > to coming up to the dock. And having odd set ups on the other side of the plantSighWhistlingSmile,Wink, & Grin

Evening Chloe - I'll have the veggie beef soup and a ham and cheese sandwich, please, and could you toast the sandwich, too? Thanks!

Jeff, I wish I had your skill with cars (or with weathering, or with...). Toughest thing I ever did on a car was to change out (I think it was) a taillight assembly on my 1980 Caprice Classic a number of years ago with a used one from a local junk yard. And I had a manual for that to help me out... Great to hear about your good checkup with the eye doctor, and even better for your glasses at that price! Thumbs Up

PC, has your day been like that guy in the photo? Sounds like you're about ready for some vacation time, fella. Yeah!!

Monday evening at MRR club, we sanded some of the joints where the masonite backdrop connects up, and then we cut some of the 130 pairs of 18" feeder wires (about 50 pairs or so - it got better once we got a routine going on that).

Aw, Terry, I bet you don't even have a foot of snow yet. Lee, you want to tell Terry how it is with snow? I think you need to explain the term 'lake effect snow' to him...Whistling

Rob, so long as you get a delivery receipt to show that you sent the engine back to the seller (just in case it doesn't return as promised from Atlas), that sounds okay. Most likely he's on the up and up, if his feedback is 100 percent. If he does that for you, I'd even try to upgrade the feedback you were gonna give him. Or have you already left your feedback?

It's kinda cold tonight (33 F/1C and supposed to drop to 28 F (-2 C) tonight. Bit of a humid wind (80 percent) out of the NNE at 11 mph), so it has a little edge to it. Of course, I'm sure that's nothing compared to what our more Northern friends have sometimes. Shock Soup and a

Long day today - no lunch, but the worst part was, I had someone to get a direct admission for, and the doctor hadn't called me by 10 minutes before our usual quitting time (I'd called about 2:40 p.m.). I was sure the doctor would call at 5 minutes till closing and deny the admission (and then it's a whole 'nuther matter to reach a judge around suppertime, since some of them go out for dinner, so that's another hour before you can reach them...).Banged Head  Luckily for us all, the doctor called in about 5 minutes, and okayed the admission, so I went out to tell the client and family and they were on their way. (And I could head for home, Yeah!!)

Oh, our LHS owner/club member got a good deal on 22 gauge wire (solid), in a few colors, for $1.50 a roll (25' roll). I figure I can use some of that for feeders and for accessory wiring, as well as for control panel wiring. Since my entire layout is only about 2-1/2' by 8 feet, there isn't any long stretch for the wiring. I ordered four colors for now. I may ask him what other colors he can get for the next order...

Sawyer - nice model railroad video - that must be pretty old, from the style of layout and equipment in it!

Chloe, could I have a hot fudge sundae and a cup of coffee, please? Thanks, I'll be in the corner booth, telling Terry about snow-shovelling techniques. Whistling

Blessings,

Terry--

Whaddaya mean SNOWING in HOUSTON?  Here I am 45 miles from the snowiest mountain range in the entire You-nited States and we don't have a bloody FLAKE of the stuff and it's snowing in HOUSTON?  Holy COW, BUDDY!  Grumpy

Okay, we're supposed to get some next Tuesday.  And wouldn't you know it, the idiot weather-persons around here are going into some kind of Mourning because it means we won't have any more Clear Days (with thick morning Fog).  Ah, SunnyCal!

Hey, everyone, thanks for the Birthday Wishes, that "Hippo-Bird-Day Two Ewes" was a kick in the pants.  Absolutely hilarious!

Well, went down to the Hobby Shop to hit the Brass Case--walked right up to it and---OHMYGAW!  It wasn't THERE!  Bruce's Assistant Manager came up to me (he's one really COOL guy), stared at me and said, "Oh no, Tom, you were a day late."  MT-2 is GONE!

"Who-Bought-It?" I asked in a strangled voice.

"Uh, someone from up north."

"I want his name and address so I can go kill him."

Bruce's Assistant gives me the name.  Of course, it's someone I REALLY like from meeting him at some of the train shows.  Thoughs of murder and mayhem immediately leave my mind.  I just sigh.

"Um, if it's any help," Bruce's assistant says, "We test ran it and it needed a new motor and some balancing and maybe some real work on the connections."

"Mph,"  I mutter.  Still looking at the empty brass case.  Well, not EMPTY, but nothing I'd want.

"Besides," he grins at me.  "I found out that your Z-6 order is confirmed and Sunset is shipping it as soon as it arrives from Korea."

MT-2 is forgotten.  I grin.  "Maybe by Christmas?"

He grins at me.  "Let's hope."

So for my Birthday to myself, I raided a whole bunch of new Intermountain reefers.  4 PFE's, and 2 NP's.  You can NEVER have too many 'reefers.'

Came home and set up the little On30 set around the tree.  I'm in trouble.  Spooky, of course, went after the last car, as usual.  Remington satisfied himself by whacking the locomotive off of the tracks.  This kid thinks BIG!  It's going to be a really INTERESTING Christmas around here!

Best to all, thanks for the wishes and prayers to those in need.

Happy Advent!

Tom  Big Smile

Tall glass of cool lemon water, please & thank you.

***Jeffrey, congrats on your soon to be new eyes. And I'll second that Mcguyver suggestion.

Rained a good 2" here and there is another front moving in as I type. Raining over this period of time sure will be good for our water table.

Walked through the future train room and there should be ample room for both our layouts. If mine continues to shrink, so be it...I really would like to finish just one N scale layout during this lifetime. Wife has been picking out models she wants for hers, most are pre-built, which I think is important for two reasons. 1: I will not have time to build many for her.  & 2: she is impatient. Heck, I'm leaning more and more towards very few structures on my own layout with emphasis on scenery. Time will tell.

Have a good night all. Cowboy Rob

Good evening...

I was working late on the layout this evening.

Rob... Is the insomnia better now? ......As for the Atlas, it may be quicker to deal directlty with Atlas. Perhaps the seller will cover your cost to mail to Atlas.

Mr McGuver, eh. Way to go Jeff!

Tom.  Nice of you to arrive in the evening for your fro your all day brithday party! Smile I'm glad your Z6 is on its way. Too bad about the MT2.

I'm wondering if there are any fruit cake fans out there. We just got one that's really good. MMMMMM.

Paul, we'll have Mary Ann prayed for.

Happy Model Railroading.

Decafin a SOUTHERN mug, please & thanks.

***Garry, overall the sleeping meds have helped. I do not take them every night. Last night however, I woke up about every two hours with a racing heart. That hasn't happened in a while. Needless to say I'm overly tired today.

Has been raining most of the night and heavily all morning. Temps will plummet with the tail end of this storm. Might turn to snow, but it shouldn't stick.
