The nice thing about VW Beetles was all the neat things you could make from them. All you needed was a VW & a JC Whitney catalog...

Here's a few shots of PCRR 201 and CR 6089 arriving in the new White River Junction yard. They will be delivered to the Pennichuck Railroad (PCRR), which connects to the WRS at Concord for use on the PCRR.

AltoonaRailroader and 0-6-0, thanks for your compliments. Yes, the scene was heaviliy staged, and obviously has some glaring inconsistencies. The WP&Y railroad is narrow gauge, chief among the problems, so how could it be approached even by a well-meaning CPR 200 ton wrecking crane when it uses standard gauge? Also, such a lift, if it were contemplated, would not be done from a wooden trestle...unless there was no other way. The coal in the tender has not been mostly discharged by the force of the stop and gravity...but remains neatly ensconced in its enclosure.
This was an attempt to form and shoot a scene, getting to know my camera better. I did this all on manual settings, except for focus. It was fun, and I am pleased that the image has found favour for what it is. I'll now try to set up something better for entry in a Photo-of-the-Month contest elsewhere. My work with this project is just begun. More hot hours under the halogens.

Crandell, I really like seeing your progress on taking your photo skills to the next level - not to mention your good nature when we point out this, that, and the other. Making a prototypical wreck would be one very difficult task indeed.

Your shot, which I like a LOT, made me think about a scene in a French film I recently purchased called BATTAILE DU RAIL about the French Maquis trying to interrupt German rail transport to the Normandy front in 1944. In one scene, after a french train has been derailed, the Germans bring in a small crane to clear wreckage from the tracks and the crane ends up on its side along with the wrecked cars, due to its size and a little 'intervention' by a French railway saboteur, LOL! Pretty clever.
When I saw that little crane on the trestle, my immediate reaction was "Uh-oh!"

I would like to apologize to the rest of the forum members for jumping the gun on Jasper's posts, I have never seen anything like that and me being the paranoid network security admin I am, it really spooked me. So I am sorry to all of you out there that had to endure or be sucked into an off topic topic about that stupid widget. I thought that I had asked politely to have him remove it, but instead I got a lecture from him about how open and unprivate the internet is. What happened to common courtesy?
Anyhow, Thank you everyone, I'm done complaing and causing trouble for one day, now back to your regularly scheduled train/hotrod topics.

Just an idea-maybe it can be that new A/C manufacturing plant on the edge of town that decided to design their building like their product! Not too far out there-there's the Longaberger Basket Co. You say you're a network security admin and you're not familiar at all with how some widgets use cookies and other identifiable information that any computer puts out on the internet? You may want to go to your local community college and enroll in some network administration classes in order to keep up with the technology. The widget that I had was forcefully removed by Bergie, not me; thanks to all the ones who complained and had to have it their way. It's people like yourself that make this forum so un-appealing to visit and participate in. I wonder if you're walking around your neighborhood complaining about how others live and do things? Realize that there are many things in your surroundings that you have no control over. You should also realize that we all have the right to a difference of opinions and thoughts.
To those of you that saw no harm in what I had in my signature, thank you for being smart enough and not letting paranoia get the best of you. For those of you that complained about it, thanks for making this site unfriendly enough for me. It's no wonder to me that Al decides to come around and give a hard time, I'm pretty sure that he was treated as an outsider as well.

I would never place you in the same context as Al, jasperofzeal. You two are worlds apart. His first and avowed intent is to disrupt and annoy people. I never got the sense from you that it was your first aim. Once I learned of the widget, I found it to be acceptable, personally, although I did ask myself what possible reason there would be to include it in one's signature if not to display something of your personality that you felt we should know. I am still mystified.
