Rule 1: This is my railroad.
Rule 2: I make the rules.
Rule 3: Illuminating discussion of prototype history, equipment and operating practices is always welcome, but in the event of visitor-perceived anacronisms, detail descrepancies or operating errors, consult RULE 1!
I have
3)GP38-2's
2)SD40-2's
5)U-30-C's Plans to get 6 more
and Plans to get 4) C-30-7's
1) RF16 Plans to get more
1) RF16 b
4) GP7
That's my roster I have more than one of the same loco, but it all depends one what you model and how close you keep to a prototype
As always, it's up to you, sfrailfan, but have you ever heard of the concept used by a lot of us old-timers: staggering numbers to make a class of cars or locos look larger than it really is? It's so old I don't even remembeer where I heard of it, but it was back in the early '60s. I used the idea on my old HO Colorado Western, where I bought Kemtron (now PSC) smokebox front number plates and numbered my roster of KTM Porter Moguls in a staggered manner, such as Nos. 22, 25 and 26, 28, etc.
My RR has;
Two CF7's
Two SD60's
Four E8/9's
Two GP38's
Six SD35's (I built these using Athearn BB SD9's, IHC shells, and Austrian Atlas handrails)
Four GP30's (I built these with Lionel shells and Athearn BB GP35's)
Two F40PH's
Two F9B's (the only dummies I have)
Three SW7's
One SW1500
Two GP9's
One RS3
Two Hustlers
I eventually want to add one USRA 2-10-2
I have the opposite
1 SD7
1 FM H16-44
1 44 Tonner
1 F3A
1 Baldwin Shark (A and B but i will count as one)
1 PRR J1
1 Alco S3
I think thats it, Mike

3 Kato heavy 2-8-2s
4 P2k 2-8-8-2s
At the moment this is my "fleet", N scale of course!
I have a lot of the same ones:
10-AC4400CW's Kato
10-SD70MAC's Kato, Atlas
3-SD75I's Athearn
4-SD40-2's Kato, Atlas
All are either BN, Santa Fe or BNSF. N Scale of course.
N Scale Diesels......I like 'em
I am going to use this thread to show the woman of the house that I am not going over board on buying engines. For the same model I have as follows:
Proto 2000 E6a Southern Tennessean
Proto 2000 E6a Southern Freighter
I also have two SD7s one UP and the other SOU.
The rest are all alone. All my engines have DCC and sound so maybe thats why I have so few. They are pricy.
I've got:-One MP15DC-One GP38-One C42-8-Two GP50s-Two SD50-3s-Six C44-9Ws-Two AC4400CWs/One AC4400CWe
-Two C425s-One 2-8-0
Dan
N Scale - EMD - CR & NS - in active service
3 SD40-2's - Kato
8 SD60's - Atlas
4 SD60M's - Atlas
3 SD70M's - Kato
6 SD80MAC's - Kato
Let's see now...with the retirement of the last of the Bachmann F units, which originally numbered 4...
1 F7A
1 F7B
2 E7A
2 F40PH (For the Amtrak runs)
2 GP7s
1 RDC
2 Baldwin RF16s (made by dropping Tyco shells onto Bachmann "train set" F unit drives. Couldn't resist these, since Monongahela had a few.)
1 Alco RS3M
As some of you have already noticed, most of my roster consists of 4-axle power. The exceptions are the E units used on my commuter trains. Local freights are run with F units, GPs, or one of each. I'd like a few more Fs and GP7s, but those will have to wait until I get the layout running again. It's been mothballed the past few months as I've been busy with other projects.
1 M&StL switcher
1 B&M Mogul(to pull my Danbury RR Museum cars)
1 PC GP-38
2 Amtrak F9s from different manufacturers and in different paint schemes
1 UP F7a and b unit pairing
1 F3 Sante Fe in the blue and yellow freight livery
I plan to replace all the freight locos with DCC equipped, undecorated ones so I can completely freelance my imaginary time and location.

I don't even have any units in the same scheme.....or even the same railroad!
Having just re-started with this Hobby I can say that my first model was the NH I-5 and I like it so much that I just ordered me another I-5.
I also have pre-ordered 3 of the upcoming NYC Mohawks.
This is my fleet, a good amount is EMD which is what BN's fleet mostly consited of.
EMD:
SD70MAC (2)
SD70M (1)
SD60 (1)
SD45 (2)
SD40(-2) (3)
SD40T-2 (1)
SD24 (1)
F45 (1)
GP60M (1)
GP50 (1)
GP40-2 (1)
GP38-2 (3)
GP9 (1)
F7 A+B (1)
E7 A (1)
SW8 (1)
GE:
Dash 9 (1)
C30-7 (1)
I have only 5 locomotive
2 GP40x's (1 ATSF, 1 SP)
1 GP60m (BNSF)
1 GP60B (ATSF)
1 GP50 (ATSF)
Charlie
MP 53 on the BNSF Topeka Sub
Phil, I'm not a rocket scientist; they are my students.
Russell
I have duplicates of the following:
GP38-2 (8)
Heavy Mikados (2-8-2) -3
GP40(3)
Marlon
See pictures of the Clinton-Golden Valley RR
Since my RR is set in 1950's (bridge line between the D&RGW in NW New Mexico, and the ATSF in Holbrook), I have (or will, when I get them all) these steam engines (allegedly the first locos for the line, purchased used):
0-6-0T switcher (for industrial district) (and one non-working one, for the repair track next to the enginehouse)
Shays - at least a two-truck and a three-truck, for the mine run (and maybe the sawmill run, if I build that part - haven't decided yet)
2-6-0 Mogul
2-8-2 Mikado
4-6-2 Pacific - for hauling my heavyweight cars
and my (heavily EMD) diesel roster:
SW-7 (Athearn, to be converted into a pseudo-SW-1200)
2 or 3 SW9/1200's
GE 44 ton switcher (and maybe a GE 70 ton switcher)
F7A (Genesis, supposedly leased from SP/SSW, in black widow colors) (or maybe I'll repaint this for my RR)
5-6 GP7 (1 or 2 ATSF - that my RR connects to, 1 SP (recently purchase and not yet painted by my RR's paint shop - and the rest in my RR's colors)
1 GP9m (D&RGW, other RR mine connects to)
Plus several RDC's (couple or three RDC-1, couple or three RDC-3's, possibly an RDC-2 or RDC-4) - my main passenger run motive power.
Of that list, I don't yet have the three truck Shay, the Mikado, the Pacific, or the GE 70 ton, and I need to paint some of the locos for my RR.
So I don't have a huge roster, and more duplication in the diesels than in the steamers.
