Stong cup of coffee in a SOUTHERN mug, please & thank you.
***Jeffrey, I like the white fence you set in there. That part of the park certainly benefits from having it there. That being said, if you decide to scratch build one, I'm sure it would be every bit as effective. Always enjoy seeing pics of your work.
***Philip, I love storm pics, especially as they are approaching. Some of those you posted are a little sad in the damage dept. though. Hate to see something like a historic bridge demolished.
Well, obviously the trees came down where they were suppose to. The largest of them came down with a thunderous crash, sending branches from smaller trees in it's path flying. Kinda cool actually. We have other big trees around the farm, so won't miss those removed. They finished the clean up and grading. Kinda strange looking up from the pasture and seeing an empty space where the house was.
After paying that builder (our neighbor) for the house drawing, we realized he made a mistake on the measurements. His mistake, so he is redrawing the plans. Sure not going to give him one more dime for his time on that, especially for something I could easily do in half a day myself.
Oh Boy, or should I say, "Oh Bigboy"...it appears to be in transit.
Rob
Afternoon all.
It's a little chilly today, but still nice.
Jim: No more scenery as of right now. I need my backdrop to be able to do anything more. As for a job, I mow lawns. Brings decent profit, about $60 a month.
Nothing much is new besides that.

Afternoon from SmokyCal.
It's the worst yet, today, had to wear a face mask to even go to the store, and my chronic bronchitis is threatening to kick up BIG TIME. I e-mailed my doctor, and I've got some Amoxycillin waiting for me tomorrow at the Kaiser pharmacy in Roseville just in case. We're supposed to get a Low pressure system in here within the next couple of days, hopefully it will be strong enough to kick the smoke out of the Valley here, but unfortunately, it might also be strong enough to whip up the fires. We've got 3 major big ones north of the Valley, one in the Coast range, the other north of us in Trinity county, and about six little ones up in the Feather River country that are threatening to merge into one BIG one. Changed out the AC filters this morning--they were BLACK! But at least the AC is doing its job and keeping it out of the house. Wish I could say the same for the garage--I went out and tried to do a little work yesterday with the fan on, but all it did was blow the smoke around. I'm sure getting tired of Red Sun. Does anyone around the country remember what a blue sky is supposed to look like?
For that matter, does anyone remember what my BUTTES look like, LOL?
Mom's here until either Monday or Tuesday, we're all getting Cabin Fever, but she's turning out to be a real trouper--just as long as she can watch her musicals on my big-screen TV, LOL! Went out and got her a couple of books at the supermarket today--she likes those big, fat Historicals written by female Romance writers with titles such as LOVE'S SCARLET FURY--anyone ever READ one of those things? Back when I was in college, they'd have been considered Pornography, LOL! I mean--WHEW!
Jeff: I vote for the picket fence, too. I like the look of it. That's one really NICE park!
Flash: Prayers for your dad. If it helps, I added him to our Parish prayer list.
Philip: After seeing those devastating photos, I think I'll quit grousing about our smoke. After all, it'll blow away eventually, probably within a day or so--it looks as if your repairs in that area will take MONTHS. My sincere condolences.
I see another round of storms for the Midwest on the weather channel today. When is this all going to be OVER, for cryin' out loud?
Best to all and prayers for those in need.

Hello ...
WOW .. Phillip those storm photos are something.
Tom .... Take care of yourself and "Mom" in Smokey Valley. (Hey, that's the name of a mrr manufacturer.)... Those lungs are important. Take care of them
Rob .... as long as the house plans are being revised, don't forget to sneak even more square feet into the already nicely planned train room. (who said that? me? ... shhh don't tell)
Everbody, if you are interested I posted some photos with Burlington F3's in the 1950's.
Happy Model Railroading!

Cloudy and very humid all day today, but the good side of that was, with no sun, no heating of the atmosphere, therefore no thunderstorms, just 0.01" of mist.
TOM: I can't begin to imagine what you guys are going through out in CA, this has to be one of the driest early summer periods on record. I hope you get rain soon to clear the air and put out the fires.
PC: As Ryan said, I hope we see those photos on the Weather Channel. The ask all the time for people to email them in, why not, they are great photos Philip.
JEFF: The fence looks to me like it belong there all along, I vote to keep it.
ROB: When do you think you will be able to start building the new house? What style is going to be? Full basement ( Mrr layout, shhhhhhhhhhhhh ) ??
GAV: Don't party too much next week, ......on second note, what the heck, party hardy!
I just checked out Internet Model Trains, they have some great sale items this week.
Later,

Evening, Chloe, I'll have a hot fudge sundae and a cup of decaf in a Santa Fe mug, please.
Thanks!
Hey, Ryan, not a problem (once in a while) to cover the TOP for you. But I don't want it cutting into my MRR'ing/LHS money, y'know...
PC, that was some batch of storms you had - glad your place survived. It does look like several of your neighbors will be rebuilding for months to come.
We've been getting some heavy rains (with a few lightning bolts to go with them) tonight. I got the laptop unplugged for a while during the thick of it, just in case. Looks worse on the radar than it seems on the 'TowerCam' video on our local station. But anyhow, the worst of it is about moved through (around downtown for now, and will be across the river in Illinois (or maybe Kentucky - watch out, Garry, they're heading your way now!) by the time the 10:00 news comes on. South and West of us, they have a flash flood warning tonight. Luckily, I don't think the streams back there feed into the areas just south of Cape where they're concerned about flooding.
Tom, if you do go to get the antibiotic, it might not hurt to pick up another furnace filter, too. Luckily, since I have one of those wall A/C units for my apartment, I can wash mine out if it gets clogged up. But don't go out if you don't have to, until things calm down in your area. Hope you have a good supply of lemonade or ice water for you Mom once she starts reading those romance books.
Rob, since I'm sure Garry didn't say anything about modifying those new house plans, I guess I can't second that idea, huh? Good that they got the trees cleared out for you and did some of the site prep. Also good that you have some more big trees to see from the house.
Dick, I hear you about it being good to have clouds in the summer. A couple or three weeks ago, I was praying for some clouds for that very reason (to not have the afternoon pop-up storms).
So, Gav - are the sweet on a break for now (or just gone to a party)? T'would be nice to get a momentary respite of your own from riding herd on the critters, I'm sure! [Yeehaw!]
I got the two plywood sheets for my addition out this evening, and started marking approximate locations for the turntable and the turnouts. Of course, we know that any plans are subject to revision once I get the benchwork done and the board in place... I also got an email from our MRR club member/LHS owner, that my order is in and he'll bring it to the club meeting on Monday (He's heading out of town for the weekend). If it all came in, I was getting a couple of Woodland Scenics figures sets, and some Preiser ones also (including the Preiser 120 pc. RR personnel and travelers set, unpainted). Pretty much all of these sets of figures are passengers and pedestrians - got to have enough folks on the platform to justify those passenger trains and those Budd RDC units! I'm glad most of the figures were on sale, too. I also got an email today, that my (direct) Walthers order has shipped out.
About news time, so I'd better get headed for home. Chloe, that was an excellent hot fudge sundae (as usual)!
Blessings and a good night's rest for all you Diners and yours,
Jim in Cape Girardeau
Quick stop to say Good Night All. Exhausted...think I should sleep well tonight.
Healing thoughts to those in need.

No fear.....you've got a long way to go to catch up to me!
in a AT&SF mug, please & thanks.
Will be in a corner booth until the coffee kicks in.
Morning Zoe, I guess some of the crew are sleeping in today, except for Jerry. But that's not counting sleeping Rob in the corner booth here...). I'll have a glass of Ed's OJ, glass of milk, and some waffles, please.
and you might just leave a pot of the coffee here. I'll prop up Rob on the one side, and refill his coffee IV drip... Thanks for the breakfast, Gav!
At least you have a little help at times there, Gav. Good that the doggies are a little calmer this summer.
Rob, did you get some sleep last night? Oh heck, I'll wait until he's awake before I ask him that.
Garry, we're supposed to have a slight chance of a shower today, but more likely that it'll hold off until late tonight for us.
I'll be bookending Rob and eating my waffles if anyone else comes in, Zoe.
Blessings on your start of the weekend,
Ahhh................ a nice hot, humid morning here. Hi Jerry, what's up?
I think I will have a bowl of honey nut cheerios mixed with raisin bran crunch cerial and skim milk and a banana sliced on top, plus ED's OJ.
Anyone seen Jeff yet this morning? Cape Jim, any TS's your way this morning?
ROB:, have the house plan changes yet from the neighbor/designer/draftsman?
MRR stuff: I found some nice info on the internet last night on the former Boston and Maine RR (B&M) . It listed the entire Diesel roster from the 1930's to 1980, the color schemes, the numbering, the dates purchased, retire dates, where some were transferred, etc. I also found a steam locomotive roster for the B&M. This is going to be a big help for my layout of parts of New England. I also found the Boston & Albany roster and the NYC roster ( NYC leased the B&A back in 1919, but the B&A pretty much kept their own identity in NE.) It was interesting to note that the B&M ran S5e diesels, I didn't even know there was an S5 made by Alco. The B&M only had 1 S5.
Later guys,

What are Bill and I, chopped liver?
Yumm.
(Kidding... It;s not a breakfast meal.)
I believe the correct question is what are you doing up so early? Or for that matter, what am I doing up so early? I should find breakfast. I wonder what that is?

Good morning all,
THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR LAKE ERIE...NORTH CENTRAL
OHIO...NORTHEAST OHIO...NORTHWEST OHIO AND NORTHWEST PENNSYLVANIA.
.DAY ONE...TODAY AND TONIGHT.
A SEVERE STORM OR TWO WITH LARGE HAIL OR DAMAGING WIND IS POSSIBLE
THIS AFTERNOON BUT ORGANIZED SEVERE WEATHER IS NOT EXPECTED UNTIL
PERHAPS THIS EVENING OR TONIGHT WHEN A THUNDERSTORM COMPLEX MAY
MOVE ACROSS THE AREA FROM THE WEST.
NOTE THAT MANY AREAS HAVE RECEIVED SIGNIFICANT RAIN IN THE LAST
WEEK. ANY THUNDERSTORM WITH HEAVY RAIN MAY SEE LOCALIZED
FLOODING.
.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...SATURDAY THROUGH THURSDAY.
A COLD FRONT IS EXPECTED LATER SATURDAY AND SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS
ARE POSSIBLE WITH THE FRONT. THERE IS A CHANCE... DEPENDING ON
THE TIMING OF THE FRONT AND OTHER WEATHER CONDITIONS... FOR A
MAJOR OUTBREAK OF SEVERE STORMS ON SATURDAY.
SEVERE STORMS ARE POSSIBLE SUNDAY AND MONDAY AS THE TROUGH ALOFT
DEEPENS AND COLDER AIR ALOFT MOVES IN. THERE IS SOME SIGN THAT A
SURFACE TROUGH OR SECONDARY COLD FRONT WILL MOVE THROUGH THE AREA
LATER SUNDAY AND SEVERE STORMS ARE POSSIBLE WITH THE PASSAGE OF
THE TROUGH. MONDAY WOULD BRING PULSE TYPE THUNDERSTORMS WITH
LOCALIZED LARGE HAIL AND A SLIGHT THREAT OF THUNDERSTORM DOWNBURST
WINDS.

Hey, PC, you weren't snoring, so I totally missed you over at that other table. Bill T. must've been in the bathroom when I came in, I guess.
Morning all from SmokyCal:
I woke up this morning and we have a BREEZE!! YAY!! It's not a strong one, but it might lift the smoke a little. Cracked a window and it didn't smell TOO bad, but we'll have to wait and see what happens. According to the news, we now have 1,000 fires going here in Northern California, but we're also supposed to get a Low front coming in from Southern California either this afternoon or tomorrow, so there may be a slight chance that we'll get some AIR around here. Unfortunately, there are thunderstorms creeping up the east side of the Sierra toward Lake Tahoe this afternoon, so unless they're the wet variety, we might be heading back to the same thing we've had since last weekend. God, I hope not! The air quality was 192 yesterday, which is "Unhealthy for EVERYONE".
Our Governor is thinking of enforcing a statewide ban on fireworks this Fourth of July. A lot of charities are making waves about it, since they use fireworks sales to raise money--hey, I'm sorry, but sometimes you just have to BITE THE BULLET and this is one of those times. My high school has voluntarily cancelled their fireworks booth, so if they can, so can everyone else. My answer--you've got a charity you support, SEND THEM A CHECK, don't buy their fireworks this year. Sometimes--and this is one of those times here in SmokyCal--you have to put Reality before Fun.
Mom wants to go home, but I'm trying to convince her that Nevada City is in the same condition that we are, and her house isn't nearly as well sealed as mine--it's an old Victorian, and no matter WHAT you do, they leak! If the weather stirs up a little, perhaps I'll see about taking her home tomorrow. Besides, I've run out of musicals for her to watch, LOL!
If the smoke lifts a little, I'll see if I can do some work in the garage today, otherwise it's kitchen-table-project for the MR. Sure like to finish the Buttes before I die (he said with a sigh).
Jeff: Watch that blood sugar, buddy. Does orange juice help? I've heard both pro and con on it.
Garry: Sure enjoyed that little tour of your layout--that's some really NICE modeling, my friend!
Well, hoping the Midwest doesn't get clobbered AGAIN today--looking at the weather reports on the Today show, and there's lots of red and yellow around there, again. Man, Mother Nature is sure on a RAMPAGE this year--all over.
Well, best to all and prayers to those in need. That breeze is still kicking up a little, think I'll give the garage a try.

I think it's more like we here in Indiana get your leftovers and we reorganize them and send them over to Lee for final approval before sending them up to Dick.
Just as long as you don't send them down my way. I've got enough storms to last a while.

Hi Gang, what's for lunch ??
Chloe, if there is any of that rabbit stew left, I'll have a bowl of it with brown toast and cranberry juice to swish.
Our thoughts and prayers are with all those in need. And there sure seems to be a lot of them this summer. A person can hardly keep up with it. Aperson on the radio this morning, who lives about 100 miles east of us said that they had about 4" of rain in 5 minutes last evening. But I find that hard to believe. he probably meant to say 4/100". But anyway that is still quite heavy for 5 minutes. Why can't California get some of this moisture ?
Jeff: really like the park as you put the finishing touches on it. Still can't see a way into it for our trailers yet and which side do you want us parking on ? We are going to have to advertise for a live in Nurse to watch over you and keep those numbers in check and dress that foot (amoung other things). How would you like that ? We could even set up a committee to make that choice for you. We want you around good Buddy, so take care there.
Tom W. I love visiting northern Cal, it is such a great place to holiday, but I wouldn't want to attempt to live in a place that has fires and earthquake threats and mud slides as a daily happening. It gets bloody cold here, but at least you know your home is going to be there when you arrive.
Philip, great news on our son's mobility, life wil be much smoother for him now.
Hope all the Dentist visits went well, Those darn teeth, a person has trouble getting them, keeping them and getting rid of them. Sure seems like a lot of hastle.
Have any of you checked the Micro Mark web-site lately ? They sure have some good buys on some Bachmann Spectrum locos. I picked up a Great Northern Geep $100.00 off.
I have always been impressed with there service and response to your calls. And that goes for Bachmann as well. I had a couple of issues that were taken care of promptly.
Rob, be sure to keep us posted on the rebuiding, sure hope all goes well and that the train room gets expanded. Your three incidents are now over so things should be clear sailing for you now.
We'll be out to the lake for the week-end if it stops raining, maybe if the wife still wants to go I'll take a kit or two with us in case it ends up being an inside day or two. Also a couple of mags
Prayers and blessings to all. You guys in the mid west be sure to keep your rubber boots on.
Johnboy out.........

Good afternoon all, 81F and a dew point of 70F, that is tropical folks! I can see large thunderheads all headed to the east just north of us.
JEFF: Glad to hear your Physical went well, but watch out for that Glucose level, 34 is far too low.
LEE: Sounds like you ahve some rough weather headed your way today, that front is "suppose" to head south of us here in New England.
JOHNBOY: Ya, I saw the latest Micro Mark adds, they do indeed have some great buys. Trainworld also has some great buys, check that out too.
TOM: So Arnold is "thinking" about banning Fireworks in CA this 4th?? Hello Arnold, half your state is on fire with over 40 seperate fires, the firefighters are dog tired, many homes are burned, and he is "thinking" of a ban?? Where is that man's head???? This is a no-brainer. I'm happy to see that you have a wind Tom, that should blow the smoke away and relieve your asthma.
Well, back to wrok, just stopped by for a cold one and a little break,
Zoe, I'll have a bowl of that New England Clam Chowder, please, and a RBF for dessert. Thanks!
Jeff, you'd better watch out or we'll have to get you a home nurse (big Hilda, if you're not careful...) to make sure you stick around for a long while. That's way too low on your blood sugar (and even I know that). Take good care of yourself, or Chloe will ask cousin Vinny to watch you until Hilda arrives...
Tom, I'm with you - the fireworks can be on hold until the forests are put out (and amply soaked with rain, thankyouverymuch!). Have 'em send their favorite charities the check (and save the gas of running by the fireworks stand, to boot), indeed!
Aw, Johnboy, don't you want to come on down here and have a little excitement in your life? I guess you've never had a polar bear decide to move into your home when you were on vacation, huh?
PC, so you homogenize the storms and send 'em along to Dick and New England?
Well, time for me to get to my lunch before I hit TOP again...
