Good evening to all: just played our last playoff game tonight-WE WON- friday night we play for the champion ship - one game instead of three this year.... CB&Q and JIM RCGMO i built this layout just to run trains with no idea on how i will land scape it .i am a collector and operator of Sts. . pre war O ga , tinplate and post war.do have some modern lionel & mth.after many layouts thru the years i just want to be able to run my trains . Layout size is 16'w x 20' long x 40" high . outer loop is std ga with one in/out siding using tin plate track .  Oga consit of one 072, one 054, and one 042 loop- all track is connecte together by ross cross over on both sides of the ovals-track is gargraves with wooden ties. Str ga is powered by a Z trans. Oga is powered by two Z4000's . stand ga is strickley conventional. the Oga is wired so that it can be used in convential, tmcc, or DCS thru a series of toggle switches. the 042 oval leads in to a storage yard with 7 sidings for storage . the road bed for std ga consits or two pcs of Oga cork rod bed butted together to give width. Oga track is mounted on vinyl road bed .a few years ago i purchased a lot of the Del-Air switch control and are using them on this layout. makes it interesting as TMCC or DCS will not operate switches-i an the engineer who must preform switching functions . will take pictures ans post later . Been busy, just haven't gotten in. Bowl of Ice cream par favor. Who's buying? not it.

Well, Dad's cancer has taken an odd turn. It;s not in any of the organs, which is good, but it;s on the outside. And hads been binding in on lymph nodes and a kidney. outside, taking up space. Which would explain the Jaundice. So tey're gonna stretch the bile duct tomorrow, then they can work on the rest of the problems in a week. Whoopee. He says this is the best possibility. He forgot the "false test result" option. Prayers and support are welcome. orry again for my little blowup.

Jeff, awesome vid. tell they member they did a sweet job.

Good evening guys, we made it to 4pm today before the TS's moved down from New Hampshire. Luckily we only received some wind and 0.09" of rain, the ground is saturated enough now from the last few storms. This has been the most active June for weather that I have seen in a long time.

I spent half the night trying to find out what model switcher I bought at the Hobby shop in York Maine last week. It looks like an Alco S1 switcher, it has maroon and gold paint scheme of the Boston & Maine ( B&M ) RR, and carries number 1170. I searched on line and found several photos of 1170, but there are a couple features that are not the same. For one, the head light is mounted on the top of the loco, and the real 1170 has it mounted in front near the top. The horn on my loco is on the top of the hood while the real 1170 has it on the cab. So it this point I don't know what I have.Question [?]

JIM: I nearly did jump off the chair...I don't like thinder that loud so close because that means the strike was nearby also. Today I found out that it hit a neighbors big 28" diameter oak tree. It stripped the bark off one side for 20 feet up and sent the wood flying into his house, he was one scared dude.

FERGIE: Sorry for all the rain coming your way from our coastline, so here is my weather station data for Leicester, Ma : www.weatherlink.com/user/grayfox1119 Now you can check it anytime, it is updated every 60 seconds with the latest weather data uploaded to their server from my Vantage Pro monitor. That way you will know what is coming your way withing 12 to 24 hours in Nova Scotia. I think you should put a "G" gauge out in your garden.

PAUL: Yes, I have had two root canals in the past, glad I did because these two teeth are just fine after 15 years of gnawing on Brontasaurus meat.

FLASHWAVE: Very sorry to hear of your dad's illness again. But as others have sais, and I can atest that it works, the power of prayer is the strongest protection that we have. We are here for you, so vent here.

Time to hit the sack, tomorrow it is root canal time at 11:40am.

Howdy howdy. Mornin' y'all.

Much smoother trip this time. Up and down without any problems whatsoever. And we were runnin' at the head of the pack, so we had clear signals all the way. The quickest round trip I think I've ever made. Less than 8 hours up and about 9 hours back. I'm used to getting in at least 12 and 12...

Currently in Enola Yard, there is an ALCo FA on its way up north somewhere. No traction motors, just in tow. It says TICA and has a number of NYC137A (?), has blue, white, and green stripes. I was on the opposite side of the yard, so didn't get the chance to snag a picture and I can't find TICA on the net...

Off to bed for me. First out and will be definitely working again tonight. Thumbs Up [tup]

Good morning.

Partly cloudy and 72 here at the moment. Anybody who knows anything about Louisiana weather knows that can change in 5 minutes. Today's high is expected to be around 90 and there's a chance of thunderstorms this afternoon. What else is new?

I had a good time last night watching an old Disney movie from the 70's called 'No Deposit, No Return'. It was nice to have a good laugh from a show that wasn't crowded with CG special effects like most of the trash that's cranked out these days.

Good morning, a very comfortable 70F here today under clear blue sky. This will only last for today, as the TS's return tomorrow.

I'll be off to the dentist in 2 hours for a root canal to save tooth #4, in the meantime I'm still trying to find out what type of Diesel switcher I have. It looks just like an S1, but the front headlamp is on top of the hood. All the photos that I have ever seen show the headlamp in front of the hood about 1 foot down from the top of the hood. Even the S2 and S4's show the headlamp in front of the hood. Also, the horn is on the Cab on S series switchers, not on the hood , so what is this switcher that I have???? Anyone have any ideas?Question [?]

With all these people talking bout thunderstorms.... It makes me feel happy.

75* and sunny over here! I guess Sue and I have all the nice weather today.

Fixed my passing siding yesterday ever since its destruction by the first batch of kittens... It's functional now.

Speaking of passing sidings, Anyone know of a curved turnout with a 22" radius outside curve?  If I could get one of those, I could make my siding longer and I could also add another one.

 That's it for now.

Morning all from SmokyCal.  As of the news reports today, we have 940 odd fires here in the North State, and the smoke's even worse today.  Went out to pick up the paper and came back in QUICK!   Air quality today is supposed to be 184 or so, which means "Dangerous for Everyone".  Obviously, the Butte project is still on hold.

Flash--Prayers for your father.  I'm glad that the cancer hasn't invaded any organs.

Mark--doesn't Peco make a curved turnout with a 22" outer radius--or very close?  I thought they did.  Also check out Sinohara, I know they make a whole series of curved turnouts.

Dick--You've got my sympathy on those teeth, buddy.  Hopefully the dentist will dope you up with Percoset while he's working on it--mine did when he worked on mine.  It's not that you don't FEEL it, it's just that with the Percoset you don't really CARE!   Works really well on broken ribs, too.

Cox--Glad I wasn't the only one watching that Jimmy Stewart movie--darned good film.  And you're right, no cussing or CGI's, just good old-fashioned movie making.  I've always been a big Jimmy Stewart fan, especially some of those terrific westerns he made during the 'fifties like WINCHESTER '73 and THE MAN FROM LARAMIE.  Great actor, in my book.

Well, Mom's still here, until the weekend.  Couldn't take her home if I wanted to, it's just as smoky up where she lives as it is down here.  And since I can't get into the garage to work on the train, we've been watching a lot of movies.  She likes Rodgers and Hammerstein musicals (I don't) and I like Westerns (she doesn't) so we've come to a kind of truce--I'll suffer through OKLAHOMA and SOUND OF MUSIC if she'll suffer through my John Ford westerns.  ("All those Indians shooting arrows at everyone."  "What arrows, Mom?  They're all using stolen Army Winchesters.")   However, she does like Errol Flynn, but I don't know how many times we can watch THE ADVENTURES OF ROBIN HOOD, LOL!  (Speaking of Arrows).

Well, time to hit the workbench (kitchen table) and mount some WWII Army equipment on flatcars.  Yah, saw this special on RFD about railroads during WWII, and since that's the era I'm modeling, decided I might as well have a troop train.

Take care, all, and prayers to those in need.

Flash--

I got the troop cars from Walthers some years back--I don't know if they're currently available, but you could check their catalogue.  The Army equipment that I found comes from Minitanks, and are made in Austria.  I think they're distributed by Roco.  I'm going to have to check the Walthers catalogue--I think they carry the complete line.  Not much available locally, so I'll probably have to order what I need from Walthers.

Tom: I've been looking around... Haven't found any. I am suspecting a Shinohara #6.5 or #6 would work ( I only know that the #7 is 28/20), but peco I think has something close, I just can't find it again.

Good afternoon....the root canal went great , I didn't feel a thing. I have a young Indian doctor who does all my dentistry, and I have NEVER had a dentist this good, and this gentle. I had a shot of Novocaine, and I didn't even feel that needle. The shot wore off about three hours after the root canal, and I haven't felt any discomfort at all yet, and I have been out working in the yard bustin butt, so BP is up and I would have felt something by now. There was infection at the root, and the nerve was dying, so it was a good thing we decided to do this now.

TOM: Luckily, I didn't need any more than the Novocaine.....I am indeed lucky. BTW, I hope you are not near all those fires, it looks like your entire state is ablaze. We were watching the TV news here in the East, and a fire chief out in CA said that the firefighters are so tired, it like the end of the season tiredness for them and the season hasn't even begun yet. They have asked for help from neighboring states to send crews to help out.

LUC: I think you should by that O' Canada train set Luc, it really looks sharp !!!

ROB: Were you the one who was looking for Circus figures , tents etc for your layout? If so, I saw a big circuit tent layout, 3 ring, with all sorts of figures, at the York Village Marketplace hobby shop, on route 1 in York, Maine this past week. Anyone wanting this would really be impressed, HO scale.

Good to hear.  And dinner sounds great. I fixed Tuna Helper here since Mom was dog tired.

Luc, If I were you, I'd hold off on those Hawthornes. They're an off scale, and there's been a lot of complaints on this and other forums of their service.

Dad's throunh the stunt, probably either in Recovery or Paperwork. Haven't heard much yet. Neighbor lady took him up. Bless her heart. Time for a burp, wood stain, and dessert.

Oh, and Wall-E comes out this weekend. Woot.

Evening, Chloe - you in early to help your Sis cover the dinner crowd? I'll have some chicken kabobs, please,

and a glass of wine.

Yeah, today was one of those days...Blindfold [X-)].. hectic! PC, I was going to drop by the Diner earlier, but a few other things kept me occupied (and one manic client who wore me out, as fast as they talked!). I'll take the blame for our slipping to page 2 today.Wink [;)]

Hoople, Sign - Welcome [#welcome] back! Good to hear you've added(?) some more scenery to the layout. Sounds like your drumset and the layout will be competing for your My 2 cents [2c]. Time to get a summer job of some kind?

David (Parks), good to see you again - how's your summer coming along so far? Any plans for your time away from school? Good that you and Jeff dodged those lightning bolts there.Shock [:O]

Jeff, that animation was pretty funny - wonder how long it took to make that up? Smile [:)]

RRNut, your weather could be worse - just ask the folks in Iowa. Shock [:O] Just stay off your computer when the storms are coming through your area.

RT, Guess it did take a while to get (most of) those boxes unpacked. Glad to hear your 'puter is back up and running.

George, thanks for the description of your layout! I'll look forward to seeing the photos whenever you get to posting them. Speaking of which, I need to get myself a digital camera so I can resume posting (with something better than my work cellphone's camera quality).

Flashwave, thanks for the update on your Dad, and hope they get things lined out (or find that it's been healed already...Angel [angel]).Thumbs Up [tup]

Jerry, I don't think that actually was a very tall SoapBox [soapbox]. Wink [;)] Good to hear your weather's moderated some up that way. I thought from the weather this morning, that you'd be getting some rain today (and most of Missouri except for us.

Dick, maybe that switcher you have is just an S1 with some 'creative license' applied by the manufacturer? Wouldn't be that hard to improve it to prototypical standards, if you have some photos of the original #1170. Good to hear the root canal went smoothly today (and that you have a great dentist).

Luc, that train set looks good. Yeah!! [yeah]

Well, I'll be working on my kabobs - oh, Chloe, could I have a couple more? I'm hungrier than I thought. Dinner [dinner] Thanks!

Need to go over the dining room table (AKA workbench) this evening and get some stuff cleared off of it. THEN, I can get back to my Roberts building kitbash again this weekend...

Blessings and prayers,

Jim in Cape Girardeau

PC, I was going to drop by the Diner earlier, but a few other things kept me occupied (and one manic client who wore me out, as fast as they talked!). I'll take the blame for our slipping to page 2 today.Wink [;)]

Well, I didn't want to go around pointing fingers, but.............
