Good evening...
Chuck, I'm truly sorry to learn about Kathy's serious condition, and she is definately on the prayers list. It's good you have model railroading. Many of my hours working on the alyout are "sanity breaks" to get a way from others tuff, and it really helps.
JP ... It's good you can enter the diner from the sand box. We pray that you and your fellow troops will be looked after.
RT ........ I have been wondering about you, but praise the Lord if all is finally squared away with the job and the news house.
Antbody heard from Jim CG? I'm wondering about Cape G and the floods impact there.
Happy Model Railroading

Sweety20001: Don't worry. I haven't eaten rabbit since I was a little kid and that was more years ago than I care to remember, sometime in the sixties.
I've been down at my parents place working on the pool all day. We installed the liner in forty-five minutes then had the fire dept bring the water in. Thirty trips in all, one thousand gallons a trip. Now we know how much that big hole in the ground holds. That's to be expected I guess, it's a Jolly Green Giant, constructed back in the mid sixties. I always thought it was twenty-five thousand gallons. Looks like I was off by five thousand.

Good Morning from Tipton IN !
Bill Tidler Jr.
Near a cornfield in Indiana...
Morning all!
Der, I have many relatives in Maine. I know firsthand that north is the only place to get REAL seafood. I spent my summers on Deer Isle, ME when I was growing up. My Grandfather had a lobster boat and if the tide went out we'd go clamming. Nothing like hauling them lobsters out of the water and having them cooking in 20 minutes! Sweet and tender!
RT, you wouldn't believe that boy of mine. The kid is everywhere! And he walks just like any other kid. We never hear that question any more......."Why do you walk like that?" That used to be several times a day from other kids. I even bought him a bike for his birthday several weeks ago. He rides that thing all over the place. Matter of fact, the only way you'd ever know that he wasn't born like any other kid is the huge scars on the backs of his legs from the surgery. It's OK though. He thinks they're "cool"!
in a AT&SF mug, please & thank you!
***Chuck, very sorry to hear of Kathy's condition. Sending healing thoughts her way.
***Jeffrey, Jolly Green Giant pool?
***Alex, sounds like your neighbor might have a "Railroad Boneyard" and is looking to make some business for it.
***Philip, scars or not, it is incredible what a difference that has made for your son. How is the Mrs doing?

You're not kiding! From leg braces all the time and going downhill, to running, jumping, and riding bikes!
How is the Mrs doing?
She's as awesome as ever. She's getting all around quite well. Matter of fact, we were just commenting the other day how she was glad that she didn't have to go up and down the stairs on her butt any more like she did a few months ago. She also commented that she didn't think it as nearly as funny as I did when he tried that with silk PJ's on. (Picture the sledding scene in National Lampoons Christmas Vacation)
OK folks, who's hungry?
I'm grillin' up some seafood! Who wants some?
Sunday lunch please Zoe. The roast chicken, new potatoes, sweet potato, parsnips, snap peas, broccoli, sage and onion stuffing and gravy, thanks.
Not wishing to offend the sensibilities of anyone's young sister; I have however to confess my first thought on reading that post. Being in diesel rather than steam, I still had the impression that "Hasenfeffer" has a distinctly steam loco sound to it!
Chuck: Prayers for Kathy, please pass our healing thoughts and best wishes to her. Tall Times sure found an interesting site. What a neat place for a youth camp! Anything left of it today, one wonders.

Anybody heard from Jim CG? I'm wondering about Cape G and the floods impact there.
Alex: That's devastating! I can't imagine how a guest would, after crashing one train, go on to deliberately cream others.

TTFN, must get on and walk off lunch!

Chuck I'm sorry to hear that Kathy is having problems. Tell her that I'm thinking about her and hope that she gets better soon.
RT good to see you back. I'm happy to hear that you are doing well. Enjoy the real house.
Not much here. The kids and grandkids went to Dallas today and left Mary Ann and I here alone. I need to get going on staining the new cuboard that Mary Ann got. I should have gotten it finished but wanted a good match for the other cabnets. I'll see about getting in tonight.
See You All later.
Awwww now.....whats up with this folks? I walk in here and you all are letting the diner slip to page two?
So check this out!
I just bought a new computer! I picked up a Gateway P-6860FX (click the link to check it out) and am now enjoying surfing in style! I can't seem to get it to go wireless though.. The contol panel is also acting weird. Think I'm going to have to take it back tomorrow and have it looked at. Pretty cool toy though!
der5997 wrote: PC: I know firsthand that north is the only place to get REAL seafood. ...quite so, but judging from Dick's temperature reports, I'd say that Maine is way too close to the Mason Dixon line for that purpose.
Better check that map again. Deer Isle is quite a ways up the coast. It's north of Yarmouth.

Glad to report one Kato RDC is up and running. However, there is something very wrong with the lighting. It shows red in the forward direction, and clear in reverse! It doesn't matter if CV 29 is set at 38 or 39, there is no change in this orientation of the lights. Argh...I hope Digitrax support can sort this. Also got an Atlas GP7 redecodered, but it's very noisy, so shall have to take it apart again and see if there is anything mis-aligned.
Must get to bed, Goodnight all, and God Bless. Prayers for all in need of healing, comfort, and peace.
Evening, Janie, I'll have some strawberries and ice cream, and a cup of coffee, please. Yum!
First of all, I am still high and dry in Cape G., and we only got a little dab of rain (Sat. a.m., early). I asked the father of a friend who lives south of Cape about rain in their area, and they're doing okay (he said they have more to be concerned about from their river/creek backing up because of the Muddy Miss. River being so full). I think the crest for the river at Cape was revised downward, partly due to the levee breaks in northern Missouri.
Hey, DerJohn, I sometimes respond to trivia even if I don't have the time!
Tom, I'm guessing the lighter area on your buttes is where you did the Scupltamold, correct? You've been coming along nicely on the buttes, I'd say. I think your 'Coons have baked their brains a bit too much, from what you're telling us about them. Do they drink more water when it's hotter lately?
CN Charlie, hope you get your sailboat sold at a good price - you'll be selling it at a good time, with summer closing in. Sounds like you managed to get some LHS time in on your business trip, so that was a bonus, I'm sure.
Uh, oh! Somebody forgot to tell RRNut's sister (sweety20001) that we were just kidding. (No pun intended) Everybody duck!
Heartland Division CB&Q:I hope our kidding around about rabbits did not hurt little sister's feelings. Sorry if we did. Next time, somebody will post their pet parrot and we'll ruffle their feathers.

Garry, you are tooooo 'punny', my friend!
JP, maybe if you poured that ice cream over you, it would help cool you off. Couple of gallons oughta do the trick! Glad you got to post from the sandbox, even if it's stinko blazing hot over there. You and BridgeTom could almost swap tales of 'How hot is it?' (sounds like a Leno or Letterman routine...) Now if you could get one of those pools like Jeff's parents have, you'd be set (once you filled it)!
Chuck, sorry to hear about Kathy being in the hospital, but hopefully they will get things straightened out and have her feeling even better. Of course, when she gets home, she may get onto your case more often, but what the heck, that's what a wife's for, isn't it? Once you get those pics scanned into your 'puter, put me on your list. I hope to add a small logging sawmill later to my layout (when I get that house to go over the expanded train space, that is). Take care of yourself in the meantime until Kathy's back. Will be keeping her in our
RT, good to hear from you (and that they've been giving you some extra LHS money (I mean, overtime...). How are you and the CFO doing with settling in and adjusting to the new place so far? Got the boxes (half?) unpacked yet? That's usually the true sign that you're officially 'moved in'. Great to hear that you're getting some of those benefits now (that you earned, IMHO).
Jeff, good to hear you now can go soak and cool off in your folks' pool. That is one 'Giant' pool, all right.
This afternoon, I got my hand saw out, and cut one plywood piece down to 3' square (more or less; the lumber yard guy wasn't real accurate in cutting it to 3' wide, but close enough...), and marked tentative lines for the mainline tracks coming off of the existing layout sections. But I'll have to clear out more space in the living room so I will be able to build the benchwork under the additional section(s). Time for one of these again...:
Oh, I did also pick up another Atlas PS2 covered hopper on Saturday at the LHS. This one's a MOPac one. It has too late of a rebuild date on it for my layout, so I'll need to 'adjust' that... It's similar to the WP one I bought from (off an Amazon.com store, I think) a bit back. I didn't find the painter's masking tape I was looking for, so the Roberts Printing kitbash is still stalled for now. Maybe I can go through my boxes and find that tape this week so I can get back to it next weekend. I also ordered some sale items from the Walthers website. Couldn't check what I'd ordered yet, because they haven't verified my account yet (1st order through the website).
PC, that is great to hear how terrific your son's doing! Sounds like your wife is doing well, too. Watch out, or those two will be running circles around you! The new laptop looks good - did work pay for some of that, or was that out of your own pocket )?
Alex, I'd have your neighbor banned from the premises, after all that damage. Has he offered to pay for any needed repairs? Seems like the least he could do.
Need to wind things down and get myself ready for bedtime. See you all in the a.m.
Blessings and prayers,
Jim in Cape Girardeau
Tall glass of room temp water, please & thanks.
If I vanish for a couple days, it will mean I had at least one tooth pulled tomorrow, perhaps two. Taking two cats into an animal hospital for "fixin", then leaving the truck to get new tires, then to visit an orthodontist. Don't know if he will do a walk-in or not, but tonight my tooth has begun hurting again. Can't put it off any longer.
Looks like rubble "clean up" will begin Tuesday.
Have a good night all.
Good evening......just got back from a vacation up in Maine along the coast, Fergie and John would go nuts if they saw the nice lobsters here on the dining room table. The weather was supposed to be lousy all week, but a small on-shore breeze kept the advancing TS's about 10 miles inland as the colder ocean air knocked the pins out from the thunderheads. We had blue skies all week.
I found a nice little Hobby shop in York just off route 1, and I picked up two B&M locomotives, a switcher and a BL2, and four cars.
I had to add another external HD to my computer, so I decided to get an E-SATA HD. That meant that I needed to add an E-sata card to the PC also. Everything went well with the install until I noticed on the box that they did NOT include the E-Sata cable, only the USB and Firewire cables. So I had to hot-foot it to BestBuy before they closed today at 6......15 minutes to spare and luckily they had the cable.
CHUCK: Sorry to hear about Kathy, prayers for her tonight buddy.
ROB: Looking at the photos of the fire is heartbreaking, I hope your new home is constructed before Fall.
JIM, GARRY, LEE, MIKE: The root canal is necessary, so that will be done this Wednesday at noontime....ohh joy !
Time for bed, see you guys at breakfast,
Good morning, Diners.......
Jim CG said: "Garry, you are tooooo 'punny', my friend!" ....... I get it! ....But if you had waited until SPring, you might have the Easter Punny.
Sounds like George is busy based on the post. I'd be interested in hearing more about how you fit diferent scales together.
Next time any of you Canadians stop by with Tim Hortons coffee, feel free to include Tim Hortons donuts. They would "hit the spot"...............Meanwhile, it's OJ and oatmeal here.
Upon reading below, I beleive Tom W should have at least one 1/87 mountan climber on his buttes......... A replica of Sue with her climbing gear....... uh, oops...oh hi Sue... heh, heh..I hope you have sense of humor...
Happy Model Railroading.
Just time for a cup of tea before my trip back to the hospital

Good morning all,
PC, there is an on/off button for wireless access on most laptops. Mine is on the side, Dorothy's is on the top of the keyboard (near the screen).
Sorry I haven't been in the diner as much, summer time + Coast Guard job = not much free time, lol.
I hope all is well with everyone

Yeah Jim, this ones all mine! They can't take it from me. I'm hoping it'll last a good long ways into my future career change that will be in about a year or so (with God's provision of course).
LSWrr wrote:PC, there is an on/off button for wireless access on most laptops. Mine is on the side, Dorothy's is on the top of the keyboard (near the screen).
This one has two buttons, one on the lower edge, and then you have to hold the function while pressing F2. The lower edge button works, but the F2 deal does nothing. It's going back on lunch hour today.
Rob, hope the tooth gets fixed today! I have a bad one myself, so I feel your pain!
Good Morning, Zoe, Diners. From the sounds of things, this must be the week for dentist trips. Will be keeping Dick and Rob in mind (and Rob, hope the dentist sees the pained look on your face and works you into whatever's on the schedule today). Hmmm, maybe I should have the oatmeal this morning, since it seems to be popular. Zoe, could I have mine with a bit of brown sugar on it, and with a cup of coffee and a glass of Ed's OJ? Thanks!
George, you have me puzzled on mixing those scales on the same layout, too. How do you arrange them to do that without making the scale difference apparent?
Tom, I'd be inclined (if you'll excuse the pun...) to agree on your getting at least one or two mountain climbers going up the face of the buttes somewhere in there. That'd be a nice touch, but that's just my ...
'Nuther sunny day so far, in the river city of Cape G. - we're supposed to max our flood stage here today, supposedly around 41.5 feet, and then start dropping. Heck, we may have peaked already by this point, since the sites I checked this morning didn't have live updates of the flood stages. The Bootheel of Missouri and some points south of Cape might get rain today (some of those 'scattered showers', as the weatherguessers call 'em).
I'll be at the corner booth, eating my breakfast oatmeal, if anyone else comes in. Hey, Jerry, Lee, save me a spot!
Blessings on your Monday,
