Well I'm back and in one piece. The storm didn't bring us any more then rain and a bit of wind. I won't know until tomorrow how much rain but I don't think that it was a great amount. So I guess I'll cut out again.
I got an E-mail from Ed. He said that they won't be able to make it up here for the meet. So I guess I'll have to wait untill next year to have a chance to convert him to a more visiable scale.
Good night All

Hey guys, my new Atlas Shay arrived today. THAT was LIGHTNING FAST delivery. However, if you have one, please see my question about it out in the big forum. It looks very nice with the offset rear light and other unique details, but I'm not 100% sure about it.

Time to break out the tweezers and the optivisor, you gotta add them yourself.
Evening Gang: I got to be quick. We've got a bad one coming. Baseball size hail and high winds with a tornado reported.
I'll check back later.

Since I am not getting a rebate check, I'll just stick with buying from wherever. Besides, what N scale steam locos are made in America these days anyway???
While I'm here, one last refill, thanks!

Good eveining all, just thought I would stop in and let everyone know I'm still alive and kicking.
I just finished mowing the grass for the first time this season. The sun was shining and it was a really nice evening to do it. I just finished a few minutes ago and right now it's raining like crazy. The rain came up real quick.
I see everyone is spending their rebate check. I've narrowed mine down to one of two choices. Either a wood chipper for all the pruning and brush I have to keep cut back around here or to help pay for an engagement ring for Pat. I haven't decided yet, that limb pile is getting awfully big. Tough choice . Of course the garage train room out back needs some work before I can start my dream layout too.
As long as you're thinking of US manufactures don't forget Ye Olde Huff & Puff right here in Lewistown, PA. They only make parts for other manufactures though.
Been working some OT the past several weeks. We get a break now until June 2nd then it's right back at it again. Oh well, it will help boost my pension when I retire next year.
See you all later.
OOPS, the tree post is about halfway down page one, thanks Jim!

Hi,Gang!
RYAN being the computer dope I am, I dunno how to post links, but it's on page 2 in the layout section."Fast, cheap and easy trees".Way to go on the extra pounds lost chart BTW!
ROB: I do golf, but once a year the local lumber co. up here throws a tournament as a kind of thank you. Any contractor who got supplies there gets invited. You should see the course employees stare at a bunch of guys wearing their Redwings on the greens and 4-wheelin' the carts!
RT: On the house sale!
Well, I got both bikes going on sunday. Hers needs a new battery. Was going to pick that up today til she let me know that the front brakes are toast on her car. She brought it into the shop we use and the guy(jason, hardworking young(25) guy, the kind I don't mind giving bussiness to)asked who did the rear brake job because the O-ring seals were shot and leaking fluid. Robyn reminded him that HE did.The price was $125 yesterday but $248 today with the "extra "rear wheel work.I'll wait to talk with Robyn before I go see the kid, hoping he'll be a good guy to her so I don't have to be a bad guy. He's always been square-up with us before, hope that hasn't changed. I will say when you ride up on a bike for some reason people take your concerns a little more seriously, although I'm the biggest wuss in the 5 county area!
Beatiful 74f and sunny here but T-storms tonight.
Afternoon Gang: The visit from the folks from the nursing home went well. Hot dogs and hambugers for everyone and train rides all around. Only one problem on the last train. a couple of folks that had trouble keeping themselves sitting up right leaned at the wrong time and derailed the car. No one got hirt so rerailed and headed for the station. There was a helper sitting behind them but still had the problem. They might have had no problem if my narrow gauge gondolas had been used. The only thing is getting them in and out. The next two that I build will have doors on the sides so that problem should be solved. I'll also rebuild the ones I have now with doors.
There is a tornado watch for Palo Pinto county in effect now. That is just west of us so I expect that we'll be next.
I'm going to head back to the track in a bit. I just came home to take a break.
RT good to hear that the house sold. Now to get that job nailed.
Well I'm off. See you all later.
refill, thanks!
***R.T., CONGRATS on the sale of your home. As for that long drive, you could use it as an excuse to drink more coffee.
Last bit of golf fun: My wife sent a thank you e-mail to the G.M. for his understanding and professionalism. This is what she received back:
[Great, Come back anytime and I will let you ride around with the Marshall, no charge.]
Now, before anyone thinks this is a threat, "Marshall" is the name of their course security (who turns out to be that friendly Pilot).
Afternoon all....Its sunny and up near 80 here today....how about a windy City Dawg and a root beer float please...Thank you
RT....Glad to hear you have your place sold!

Ya got that right sir! But I still got 20 years before I might be able to afford that and then I might be working at Wally World handing out carts too!

I wish that were the case, we just cut a check for $1,440.00 to the U.S. Treasury on April 14th, so our net after the Stimulus Package will be a whopping $60.00. Maybe she can afford a fancy toaster with that.....or maybe dinner and a movie....but then again gas will be at $4.50 a gallon and then me might have to ride our bikes or some scenerio like that....

What's for lunch? I'm hot and thristy from working the gardens and landscape and it is 76F now and 91F in full sunlight, which I am was.
JEFF: Didn't think of that because it was so early in the morning, however, I suppose he could have left rags in the front of the window in full sunlight. My son who is a call fireman will let me know tonight what the cause was.
GARRY: I forgot about some of those and also NCE is in upper NY state.
RYAN: If your wife gets to the mailbox before you do in May, your check might be going for a new home appliance. Jeff doesn't have to worry about that. LOL

I suppose we could look through the Walthers catalog to name more. I think Bowser is USA. Craftsman building kits such as Campbell should be USA, too.
Of course, we're having a yard sale next month; so stop by with all those big dollars.
Ryan might be interested in knowing my son and his wife are moving to NC in Ryan's area. I already have a nephew there with his family.
Happy Model railroading everybody.
Good Morning, Diners! Zoe, could I have one of those cinnamon rolls and a cup of coffee, please? Thanks!
Sunshine here in Cape G., and supposed to reach the 80's (F, about 28 C) this afternoon. So, what's everybody else up to today?
Didn't get to the MRR stuff last night - got groceries instead (after eating something for dinner first...). May get that bracing attached to the inside of the Roberts kitbash wall tonight, and then work on painting it over the weekend.
Rob, that sounds like an additional 'product line' if you get a good printer and do that with the pictures. Go for it!
Gav, glad you got an answer on your question. When it comes to electrical questions beyond 'what wire goes to where?', I'm clueless.
Waiting on my rustic stonewall (resin) castings to arrive. Bought them off that e-auction site, and hope they'll be here by the weekend. May be starting on painting those over the weekend, along with my kitbash.
Blessings on your day,

Good morning everyone, 68F here already at 10am, headed for 80F by 3:30pm, and VERY dry. We have a Class IV fire danger day today according to Charlton Fire Tower radio. I received a call from the George Bush last night, he wants to make sure that the $600 economy boost checks that most of us will receive in May, stays in the U.S., so he wants us to buy MRR stuff that is made in the U.S. I guess that means Branchline, ME, Kadee, most of Woodland Scenics...can you guys name more stuff?
JIM: Not carelessness Jim for most of the brush fires here. It is a combination of two things: Kids are home this week for Spring vacation, and, it is extremely DRY here with class IV fire danger. I got my SS check today so thank you for working this week.
ED/JP : The flu bug has hit the Red Sox, but the team keeps rolling along with late innings come-backs.
See you guys at lunch,
& a SOUTHERN mug, please & thank you!
Looks like a gorgeous day.
Wife is having a tooth pulled tomorrow...OUCH!
Morning folks!
Rob, that burned up covered hopper would be an interesting one to model, but no plans at the moment, you never know though....
And Rob, I bet there were some dinner table stories told last night, having worked at a country club golf course in the F&B dept. for a few years I know how particular they are about playing.
Garry, nice start on the Hilhlands Depot!
Duke, nice grab on the P2K 0-6-0 from DMW!
Dick, I have to agree with Jim...my paychecks still take out FICA, so you know what they say about checks and the mail....
Hey Terry, how about posting a link to that great tree thread so folks can find it better... I can't seem to find it again....
Gav, to answer your question about parallel tracks with crossing connections, only if there is a reverse loop will you have to put in an isolation gap. From your description it sounds like no gap is required, see my drawing below:
-------------------- Parallel track / crossing connection-------------------- Parallel track
John, have a great and safe trip to "Bean Town"
PC, been there and done that so I know what you putting up with at work, I've worn way too many hats in the restaurant biz; chef, F&B director, catering manager, purchasing clerk, dishwasher, and that's all before lunch!
Later folks!
Good Morning All,
44F and clear this morning with the high in the mid 70's. Spent last evening at the museum and got the cork road bed down underneath the Ross O - gauge mainline. Next week I'll try getting the track glued to the cork.
Gavin - for DCC you only need isolators where you have a wye or reverse loop but many of us have the track broken into blocks anyway and run seperate circuit breakers for each block so that a short in one block doesn't shut down the whole operation. I have my layout divided into 4 power districts or blocks plus a separate block for the reverse loop which has its' own breaker. When I get my yards buuilt I'll probably add a block for each since they have lots of turnouts and that is where most of the shorts originate. Hope that helps.
Paul - so why did the spacer cure the derailments? Was the truck fouling the cab?
Well time to get back at it in the shop. More gearboxes to do and a bunch of rewiring so I'd better get after it. CUL, J.R.
Morning all!
Bustin' out the door to head for work. I'm not real wild about all of these new duties they're slapping on me, let me tell you. It's like I'm doing two peoples jobs and only getting paid for one! Guess I'm becomming indispensable though, so thats good!
Oh well, ..........later!
