Dinner [dinner]Garlic Mashed Potatoes with Steamed Veggies and a tall glass of Cool Water, please & thank you.

***Jeffrey, CONGRATS on your test results. Not surprising.

Finished listing the vintage Berkshire, Yard Goat and EZ Track. Was thinking perhaps I had better go ahead and order one of those Proto 0-8-0 locos right away. That way I can take a pic of it next to the vintage 0-8-0 before that one is sold & shipped. (how's that for reasoningWink [;)])

Will be eating in the corner booth. Just ignore my snarls & growls...I'm REALLY hungry.

Eveing Gang: I'm not at the meet tonight. There isn't much going on anyway.

Flash I'm sorry to hear about your grandmother. Our best to the family and you.

Rob I think that you had better run, don't walk, to the HD and grab a couple more doors. After a comment like that from my wife that's what I'd do. As for your other problem. Decisions, Decisions, Decisions.

Since Dick is buying I haven't had a really good steak in a while. Set me up one of those big sirloins ladies.

I spent an hour or so out in the shop trying to mix up a batch of box car red. I used a red and black from Tractor Supply. Its machinery enamel. Anyway I came up with a pretty good Tuscan red instead. Then I did a swatch of there red oxide primer and it's a good look for the box car red. So I'll use both to break up the monotony.

Mike I hope that Deb's job is safe.

Well I guess I'll head for bed.

Good Night All

Good Evening, Chloe! How about a cup of coffee and a nice slice of (where's PC? Is he anywhere nearby? Shhh!) butterscotch pie!

Thanks!

Nice evening - still about 71 F after dinnertime. Big Smile [:D] Had a brief bit of rain today, but not much (one-half inch or less).

CN Charlie, guess you could work on a snowman there. Wink [;)] What's your usual latest snow your way?

Gav, hope your "li'l angels" come in too buzzed to cause any fuss tonight. Dead [xx(] Do you get hazardous duty pay for your job? Maybe you should. Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

Rob, good to hear that the Shay is smoothing out for you. I need to get my (HO) MDC Shay looked at by one of our club members (who has better troubleshooting experience than I do). Some of the linkage is out of whack and needs to be re-aligned/adjusted. Your wife and FIL get to run around with the Marshall, huh? Nice! But I hope your wife doesn't have to have anything elaborate (or expensive) done for her teeth. Of course, that'd be My 2 cents [2c] away from her HO scale empire. Hmm... with the interest she's been showing, you might find that more space becomes available for both your layouts. (Hey, we can hope, right?) Smile [:)]

Alex, hope you get to feeling better soon. No fun, I'm sure.

Mike, I hope Deb's job stays right where it is, and that they know they have a good worker in her. That whole re-organizing/downsizing stuff is a pain in... well, you know where! Shock [:O] And hey, I didn't know you went to one of those places where they handle the snakes!Confused [%-)][;)

Colby, I'm proud of you for still working on your homew**k even when you might be tempted to goof off 'cause it's vacation. Thumbs Up [tup] How long until you head back for classes?

OzarkBelt, we'll look forward to seeing what you did with the layout changes.

Hope all of you Diners with dry-and-dusty ground around you get some rain to soak things down and reduce any fire risk.

Flashwave, sorry to hear about your grandmother - I would second what Rob wrote. Hope your trip goes well.

I'm still waiting for my rustic stone walls (eBay win) to arrive. The Post Office tracking system doesn't update very quickly, it appears. Still shows the package as having arrived at the seller's post office ready to ship...Sigh [sigh]

Just started reading through the Realistic Layouts 4 issue that I got last weekend. From just a quick scan, it looks like there'll be some quite useful ideas for buildings in there. (Do I really need more buildings?...Oops [oops]) Also got the Walthers sale catalog from the p.o. box yesterday, and gave it a quick glance last night. Sooooo tempting! Shock [:O]

Angel [angel] Angel [angel] Angel [angel] for those ailing and in need of comfort, healing or peace (or all of the above). Think I'll have a refill on my coffee and another slice of the (butterscotch pie), Chloe. Thanks!

Blessings on your day-before-start-of-the-weekend,

Jim in Cape Girardeau

I'll have some steak and onion with lots of Tobasco.

I seem to have jangled the nerves in my neck while cutting the grass today, so I'll just be taking it easy for a while.

FLASHWAVE:  Very sorry to hear of the passing of your grandmother, our thoughts and prayers are for your family.

Today the fire danger is at the highest level, Class V , and over 1000 acres are on fire in Massachusetts and New Hampshire, 400 more acres caught fire today alone! Fire crews are very busy all over the area. Relief should arrive here on Saturday night and next Tuesday with moderate rainfalls. Last year we had over 7" of rain in April, this year less than 1".

Later,

Dick If you do what you always did, you'll get what you always got!! Learn from the mistakes of others, trust me........you can't live long enough to make all the mistakes yourself, I tried !! One last coffee for the night, thanks!

***Flashwave, very sorry to learn of your grandmother. From your post, it sounds like it may have been a blessing. Never easy to lose a loved one though.

***Gav, you got it right. Nothing but "wethers" here on Cederstrand Farm as of today. No more future kids, unless they're already in nanny ovens.

Going to go run that Shay some more tonight while taking photos of the vintage Berkshire for the-bay. Haven't decided what else to offer up yet. I kinda like what I have left, but then there is still that Proto 0-8-0 (I need it to help out with future switching), Kato GS-4 with 10 car set (to look pretty), and ofcourse that Athearn Bigboy (just cause it's cool). Dang! (The NEW Berkshire is now at the PO, will pick it up tomorrow Big Smile [:D])

Hi all

Lee run your 0-6-0 as soon as you can! My one without DCC runs like a watch, the one I just got with Dcc and sound has a bad catch in it and stops dead but only at slow speed. Also make sure you put the traction tires on it, without them it only pulls about 10 cars on level track and thats with metal free rolling wheels! Like to know how MR rated it at 20 cars without themWhistling [:-^]

Flashwave:  Sorry to learn about your grandmother. In Cincinnati, the museum in the old Union Station is worthwhile because of its large, highly detailed model railroad depicting the city circa 1950. Also, Golf Manor Hobbies is a good shop.

Inch metioned snakes. We have a pair of black snakes here about 5 feet long. We call them Charles and Camilla. They keep away the bad critters, and they don't bother us at all. A house is being built on the next lot, and one of the workers was about to kill one of them. Shelley saw it and told him not to do it. My wife saved the snake's life.

Coffee, please & thanks!

Wife did not have her tooth removed today. Instead, she was refered to a surgeon. Yikes!

We dropped in on that 4nscale. place. As my wife had described, there were two people working away on computers. The store is unmarked (no sign at all). They do not work on trains, have no layout, no test track, just a mini warehouse. I did get to handle some models, like the Athearn Bigboy and some Intermountain units. Wow, those are some mighty nice looking models. The wife was very impressed with the looks of the Bigboy and asked "How much does it cost". I said, "Don't ask!" and then looked at the fella and said, "Don't you tell her!".Laugh [(-D] He didn't say a word. (I still want one)

Nicest thing was how into looking at stuff she was. And now she wants to see some huge snow-capped mountains on my N layout, which I explained would be difficult on a door size layout. She then said, "Well, you can always expand it, right?"Big Smile [:D]

And then we discussed her own HO layout(s). The one with the Dewitt Clinton will be her farm & redneck-ish theme layout. She has all sorts of ideas for it. Her Circus/Fair stuff will likely become part of a separate "Christmas display". Combining all that on a single small HO layout might be difficult.Confused [%-)]

Onlinetrains. just refunded my money for the track I ordered. Seems the order that went with my payment didn't show up. That explains why my track hasn't arrived. Might just go buy from the locals afterall. Paying tax though makes them more costly.

It should rain tomorrow, as one particular neighbor (we call him "Bales In The Rain") cut his hay fields yesterday and has already begun baling it today. Dunce [D)]

Going to band a couple billy goats...OUCH! Have a good day all.

Good afternoon...another beautiful day here, 68F and 30% RH, wind is 8 mph from the NW. We are getting a lot of work done outside, this si the earliest that I can very remember getting so much done in mid April. This will help big time with being able to do more MRR action. Class V fire hazard day here today and all over northern New England and upstate NY.

MIKE: I have seen plenty of honey bees here, they are all over the forsythia flowers which are out here now. I think all the rain that you guys have been having is keeping them away.

CN CHARLIE:  Good Lord, more snow?? The weather patterns have been screwy this season for sure. Hopefully the warmer weather will return to the Canadian plains real soon.

PAUL: I saw the weather channel last night, and it sure looked bad in your area, we are gratified to hear that you guys did not get the severe weather that hit your neighbors.

Wildfires are still breaking out around here, but we are due for some rain on Saturday night and more substantial rain on Tuesday which should eleviate the danger for a while until things green-up. My neighbor over the hill to the west had her brush burn rekindle this morning, company 1 had to come down and put that out and rake over the ashes. If that fire had reached the high voltage tower line clearing and the woods beyond, it would have come straight for my property to the north. I have the brush cut back and a 3/4" hose line all ready to go during this high hazard alert.

R.T. glad to hear you sold your place! Cograts!

Hey Rob, that is a great invitation riding around with the marshal! Yea, they just make sure everyone is playing fair, keeping accurate scores, and don't run all over the fairways too fast with the carts.

Paul how did you fare with the storm passed through last night? Hope all is well! Glad to hear it was non-event for you! Big Smile [:D]

Mornin, an irish coffee please Zoe.

Another warm day with a high round 80 and a chance for afternoon showers n thunderstorm later today and tomorrow. Cooling off this weekend and into next week with to in the 60's. One weather guesser is forecast a frosty morning or two, next week, but that guy is usually wrong more than right.

Been working out in the yard enjoying the nice weather. Even caught a 6 ft black snake and a 14 in milk snake, turned them lose back in the woods after playing with them.  Don't think I'll get as much done today with rain forecast later today and tomorrow. Sure hope we don't get much, our garden is almost dry enough to work up.

DICK

We haven't seen any honey bees round here yet this year. I'm starting to get a bit concerned; the gardens and fruit trees won't do well with out them. We haven't been hearing any frogs or toads either and these woods and along the creek should be noisy by now.

RT,,

good news on the house sellin, now if uncle Sam will just get his back side in gear.

JERRY,

You going up to Rockome this weekend?? If you are give me a call, we've got some $1 off coupons. We were, but didn't really have the playing with funds and then gas hit $3.55 in Casey yesterday. So' it's a staying home weekend now.

Mother's job isn't looking to good, 2 weeks ago today, one of the big bosses came down and they fired 12 managers and supervisors, then laid off 4 of their long time hourly workers at the Marshall plant. They then went to the north plant in Casey and fired 3 managers, but left the south plant [Mothers] alone.

This past Friday they went to Mothers plant and announced that they were closing that building and moving everything to the north plant over the next few months.  After they left there, they went and fired the Marshall plant manager, moved the north plant manager to Marshall, and move the south plant manager north over both divisions.

The moving part wasn't really a surprise, seeing as how the north plant had had 300 employed 6 years ago and now has 39 there, but nobody knows who's going to keep their job when the move comes including DEB.

I best gets going and on to chores. Thoughts for all those in need and hope ya'll has a gooden

Well, after slowly running the new Shay loco for around 2 hours, both turning it around and changing directions on the test loop, it has smoothed out quite well. I think it will be a keeper after all, but will know for sure the next time I run it. Those sure are teeny tiny drive rods/gears/thingies. Almost afraid to pick it up. One thing is for certain, TopHobbyTrains WINS the speed of delivery contest, hands down.

Hopefully the track I ordered last week from OnlineTrains & the more recent Berkshire purchase will arrive soon. Going to put my vintage Berk up on the-bay tomorrow night. Perhaps some other items as well. Running short on things I am willing to let go, although there ARE still some diesels resting in a box on the shelf. I keep thinking one or two early deisels would be OK to have on a steam layout. If that is the case, then I would still want to sell off all the vintage and replace them with 1 or 2of the finer representaions avaiable now. OK, enough rambling....can hardly keep my eyes open.

Have a good night folks. Cowboy [C):-)] Rob

Good Evening All!

We're under a winter storm watch here with 10-20 cm of snow and strong winds. Oh well, so much for summer. That was last Thursday when it hit 70F.

RT, glad to hear things are going well with your house. Hope the move and the new job go well too.

Not much happening here, other than sharpening the snow shovel. I did finish the re-lay of my service yard and think its time for running trains and maybe putting together a box car kit I got a few months ago. I need a break from scenery and structures.

It's late and I need to rest up to shovel the drive so I can get to work in the morning so I'll say good-night.

Good Night

CN Charlie
