***Garry, we mostly get the transport helos, although fewer in the past couple years. Perhaps flying on real missions elswhere. You know, the ones that vibrate your innards.
Well, been jammin to music, organizing my studio. About 90% finished and although I'm running on fumes/3rd wind/whatever, I'm glad I finally tackled this overdo task. Wife should be home from work shortly. Good Night!
Rob
Thanks Gav, Paul, and Lee for the comments. I actually worked on the layout.
Rob... Nice pix of CSX train. We see those military copters here too becasue we are close to Ft Campbell.
On the layout I'm back to working on the scene for my new station.
Good night.

***Philip, pardon my ignorance (I couldn't make out the wheel arrangement), is that a Mike or Pacific?
***Lee, seeing the BN loco brought back memories from when I lived in WA. Saw them perhaps twice a week out my back door at one of the places I lived there. Always ran out back to get a good look at them.
While working in my studio this evening, our farm was buzzed by a couple of these. Took this pic out the window:
Glad they're on our side.
My steam locos on the-bay auctions finish tomorrow and are not selling for much at all yet. Penty of folks watching them, so I remain hopeful.
Don't know how I'm still going on two hours sleep. Should sleep very well tonight. Take care all.

Evening all,
I received my Model Railroad incentive check yesterday! So I went over to my LHS and bought a Centerline Products track cleaning car.
Ugly little thing, but the center roller is a solid brass and the body is cast metal with spring loaded Kadee trucks and couplers. The frame is also designed to accept almost any short car body shell (home-made or commercial) with an inside width of about 1.21 Inch to 1.25 Inch (30.7 to 31.7 millimeters) and an inside length of about 3.91 Inches to 3.95 Inches (99.3 to 100.3 millimeters).
PC, that black beauty stacked up in front of the locomotive will do a good job for you guys, I've used it several times and it's great. Thanks for sharing the pictures.
Garry, good to hear all went well, glad to have you back!
Rob, ever since Conrail went to the wayside we have those "shared motor power" trains running through here as well. We had a KCS locomotive run through here twice this week. It's no surprise to see a BNSF-BN-CSX-CR consist.
The locals around these parts don't care for the foreign motive power (anything outside of the Great Lakes or west of the Mississippi river)

Evening Gang:
Garry good to have you back and well.
Rob don't fool around with that tooth. Bad things can happen from a tooth that is infected.
Not much going on today. I got the test area mowed in the hay field. I'll take the lawn tractor and run over it again to get the cuttings moved over to the side. I really think that it's too late in the season for the test but I'll let the DuPont guys deceid that.
I'm still trying to find trim molding like the stuff I got along time ago. Mary Ann isn't worried about matching it but I'd like to.
Well it's bed time.
Good Night All
Welcome back Garry
glad everything went ok

Hello all.
I'm talking to you from my dad's house today. Spending the weekend with him, and I'm using his laptop.
He has a couple spare rooms (Spare Oom!) so one will be my train room. It currently has a table (Maybe 2x8-2x10) where I have a small switching layout with bachmann e-z track. It has 6 switches, two runarounds, and a couple spurs. What fun electric switches are, completely forgot about that while working on my layout. I also brought my S-3 and 8 freight cars, so I could do some switching.
Oh and Twhite, I saw your pictures in the WPF. Darn impressive bridge, would love to run on that layout.
Mark
Hello everybody:
I've returned from Nashville, and I'm pleased to say my heart surgery went exceptionally well. Just prior to the surgery I was having significant heart rhythm problems that were worrisome to say the least. Evidently, the rhythm problems were due to a generic heart medication that was recalled. The manufacturer doubled the dosage in each tablet. The surgery was really not related to that. I needed to have my Medtronic device replaced due to low battery, and it's my 4th and easiest heart surgery.
I just skimmed over some posts. I saw some terrible news from Jeff, and I'm sorry to learn he lost his cousin.
RT evidently is getting relocation and job stuff squared away. Good news for sure.
Speaking of basements in the South, we have one. It would be called a walkout basement in the North. Here it's just called the lower level. It's a hillside house and foundation walls are on the uphill side of course. My train room is a long room against the foundation walls.
Good to see everybody.
Evening gang!
Just a quick stop in before heading off to shower and bed.
Jeff - My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family in this time of loss. You know where we are if you need to talk. I'm sure everyone here will listen if need be.
Well all, take care!

Hunter - When we met in January of 2000, you were just a 6 week old pup who walked his way into this heart of mine as the only runt in the litter who would come over to me. And today, I sit here and tell you I am sorry we had to put you down. It was the best thing for you and also the right thing to do. May you now rest in peace and comfort. Love, Dad. 8 June 2010
I love you and miss you Mom. Say hi to everyone up there for me. Rest in peace and comfort. Love, John. 29 March 2017
Hi all
Just a tea for the mo please
JIM yep should have the main in and running, the station loop also.
Rob hpoe the tooth bsorts itself out ,but it dont sound like it , GOOD LUCK AT THE DENTIST
I, ll be at the counter drinking my tea if anybody wants me
Coffee in a VIRGINIAN mug, please & thanks.
Train news: While walking up to the PO door this morning, I hear a train coming. Hop in the car and race around the back of the building, only to find the usual access road (which leads to the tracks) is blocked by a parked semi. No time left to drive around, so these are the only shots of of the locos I could get from there. Seems an unusual consist to me.
***Lee, YUCK, does sound like a mess. What kind of imbosile does that sort of thing? As for Insurance, we've also always been with State Farm for everything.
***Jim, I would assume the book is the first edition. Chapter Six covers "Livestock", which I thought might help figure out how to set up my own version of that industry. If you could, how about incorporating that into the layout plan? That would be great!
***Dick, even with Insurance through my wife's employer, root canals are bloody expensive. A tooth extraction is around $75 and unlike a root canal, it will never bother me again. My MIL has spent thousands over her lifetime on tooth work and she still has problems with them. I do need all four wisdom teeth removed and we found a teaching hospital out of state that can do them all in the $500 - $700 range. Eventually I will have that done, just can't afford the time away yet to make the trip.
***Johnboy, if you are talking to my mama, ask her what it is like "on the other side" and what she has been up to since she passed on.
More Train News: The Virginian (N) Berkshire arrived. This one is a smooth, sweet running loco. Will take some comparison photos of it next to the vintage Berk tomorrow, to share in a day or two. Also got the (N) Kato Unitrack I ordered and the (HO) pickup truck for the wife. Success, it put a big smile on her face. She calls it "Jessie Jame's Truck", and it really does look like our distant crazy neighbors truck. All it needs now is a talking dog in the back.
Only 2 hours sleep...going to go veg-out for awhile.
Good Afternoon all, Just in for a snack.
Chloe, next time by the kitchen see if they can rustle me up a BLT and I'll give it a swish with a cranberry and 7. Thanks.
Jerry, great job on that cab out of the parts box. I know what you mean with older decals. I have read all of the suggestions about that and I have yet to get them to work properly or it is just me. Anyway you succeeded pretty well and even though the Nickel Plate kept most of their vans looking good, there had to be a few tougher looking ones in all those miles behind coal drags and steamers. Hit it with a little more weathering and it will look like a true veteran.
Rob, You are old enough to take better care of yourself than that. Get that tooth looked after, you don't want that infection to set in and get worse and it could you know. Your Mama told me to say that........
Lee, Up here in Saskatchewan, we have the Provincial Govenment that runs the Automobile insurance. It insures that every vehicle on the road has basic insurance and then you can either go with them or other line companies for your package policy to up the liabilities and such. There is more competition in the house insurance market, but for the last few years SGI, (mentioned above) has had the best rates.
Not much railroading today, I have some outside trim on the house that I have to start painting now that spring seems to have finally reached here.
Cape Jim, We never got that next report on that Grandbaby, at least I didn't see it. Hope all is well there.
Jeffery, I'm very sorry to hear of your loss. Those are tough times, and darn it all it seems as we get older they happen more often. Very seldom now when you check the obits that there isn't someone there that you know of.
Well I had better get at it, Hope you all have a great week-end, and keep smiling.

Lee....Ditto on state Farm..I have had it for over 40 years and never had any problems...I have had the same agent all these years too....
Rob...Hope you get your toothache taken care of...
Took a photo of NKP caboose this morning...Its not a good photo ...I could get grey band to show up very well...decals could have been better but decal sheet was old and decals came apart and i had to peice them back together...kinda ruff in N scale..Caboose is old Roco-AHM out of rehab box...It has pretty good detail when I got old paint stripped...
You all have a good one....Jerry
What? No basement? Don't you want your own in house swimming pool?
Won't be around today. We have termites flying. And they apperently like Olive garden, as I had to pull one out of my leftovers. Mom;s setting bombs, and we;re gouing to call Terminex and have them come BACK fix this probelm They were just out a week or two back.

Good morning......cloudy, 42F, raw and an easterly wind coming inland 50 miles from the cold Atlantic ( ocean temp at Boston harbor buoy is only 47F ). So today I have the latest Trains and MRR mag to read that just arrived, so this will be an inside day today.
RT: No basement....bummer, you would have had a big space to use. Why don't they have basements down South, especially with the threat of tornados? I can see not having any in New Orleans, they are already below sea level, or Florida which has a water table just under the houses, but the other states should not have that problem unless they live in swamp of low areas. Even with ledge up here they either blast it away or build over it with a basement and fill around it.
JIM: Yes, that front is moving east and tomorrow will bring more rains. We had 0.25" overnight, but tomorrow will bring a few downpours.
ROB: Ouch !! You must be one miserable guy today. Are you sure that the tooth cannot be saved by doing a root canal? With todays technology, there is absolutely no reason to lose a tooth unless it is a wisdom tooth ( waste of time and money to fill or keep those, only Neandertals needed those ) My strong advice to you and all the rest of you guys, please go at least twice a year for cleaning. Gum disease is bad news and has been linked to heart problems as well as diabetes and other maladies. Besides that, later in life you may need gum surgery, and it is very expensive, over $6000, all because you don't go quarterly or semi annually for cleaning......just not worth it Rob, been there, done it!
LEE: I hope you catch the fool/s who dumped that oil in the water.....tar and feather the idiots if you catch them.
Later guys,
I'm supose to start with the VA on the 12th but have asked if I can start next starting date as have a delay in getting my house so If they say yes it will be the 27 as the 26th is a holiday. If not I'm not sure what will happen already talked with present employer and there willing for me to stay an extra 2 weeks .
the attic have not been in but theres only a small entry to get into it. as a spare bedroom yes I'll make it do it may only be about 10x12 (not sure didn't measure bedrooms) I do know thou they are bigger than this cracker box I'm in now 7'x8' but at least the desk won't be in there also it will be just trains the desk is going into the 3rd bedroom as will storage and probally wifes and mine new side business basicly she wants to goto yard sales (get the leftovers for nothin) and auctions to get stuff and then ebay it.
Morning, Janie - I'll have some waffles, couple of strips of that near-bacon stuff, glass of milk, glass of Ed's OJ, and a cup of coffee in a Santa Fe mug. (oh yes, please leave one pot here at the table) Thanks!
Jeff, sorry to hear about your losing your cousin. Will keep you and the rest of the family in my Hope your weather dries out by tomorrow, at least.
The rains moved through here yesterday, and as of last night's 10 o'clock weather, were not far from Garry's area (and heading east). Looked like Louisiana might still be getting soaked, though, so watch yourself there, Jeff.
Dick, you might get more rain up your way in the next few days, too. And that new bed sounds really great for those ORF naps, huh?
Terry, hope your weather evens out and gets nicer than that sleet (soon).
PC, I forgot to say (as others have) that it's great that you son has true friends in the neighborhood. Besides, he has to stay in shape for next basketball season, right?

Rob - d'oh! I finally realized you were joking - right after I had posted my reply and looked again. (Mental note to self: add in 45 percent grades and 'off-ramps' for Rob's cars on the plans...) Man, if that toothache is continuing, it might be worth the trip and the nuisance of having the dentist get a look at fixing it. Especially when it's keeping you up nights.
On the 'Industries Along the Track' book (I'm guessing you mean vol. 1, which covers oil, coal, grain, auto manufacturing and a few other types), it does have some 'suggested layout' ideas, but they're pretty basic sketches (like a 45 degree view from above). There are more of pics of what the buildings look like and of the cars used for that industry, etc. (along with text info). I have that book, so email me if you have more questions on it. I looked at the second volume when it came out, but most of the industries in vol. 2 were too new for my RR's time period. Haven't seen vol. 3 yet to find out what it covers (and era).
RT, hope you and the money folks get all that worked out on the house. But the important question for us is: Can the attic or spare bedroom be laid out properly for your layout? Any new word from VA on your job yet, by the way?
Paul, for your mice problem maybe BridgeTom could rent you one of his cats (of course, you'd have to lock up your cabeese until they caught all the mice, but...). At least you got to the basement this week. Maybe next weekend you'll be able to go down and do some MRR w**k there.
Gav - 12 days off? Heck, you could have your layout half done with all that much time! (Oh, you need to eat and sleep and get a few other things done? Shucky-durn...)
Last night I went to a concert at church by Scott Wesley Brown, which was really nice. He, another guitar player, a pianist (and her daughter who sang with them) and (cellist or bassist, couldn't tell exactly), playing newer arrangements of a lot of older ('classic') church hymns. Very pleasant and touching.
Well, I'm on-call today for 24 hours (until 8 a.m. Sunday), so I'd best get to my breakfast, just in case the electronic tether on my belt goes off. Hoping to swing by the LHS today and see what he has in. Hoping for my MRR'ing stimulus deposit to arrive next Friday...
Blessings on your weekend,
Jim in Cape Girardeau
Good morning all,
What a mess; someone dumped 1,000 gallons of motor oil in a creek, I just spent the last 48 hours cleaning up the mess, couldn't find the responsible party. Lost 8 Canada geese and I have one walking around covered in oil, but can't catch her. Waiting on a call from a local animal rescue group so we can grab her and give her a quick bath.
Jeff, I'm very sorry for your loss.
Car insurance, same here, I have had State Farm since 1988 and nobody can beat them on price or service. I did the thing on the internet where several insurance companies compete for your business and nobody could beat my current rate. I get in an accident and all I have to do is drive/tow my truck to a repair shop and get it fixed. State farm only cares that I got it fixed.

Not in the south sir. There is a craw space but its nasty with a dirt floor so it looks like one of the bedrooms will be the train room. Yes there will be a train room sooner or later.
GOOD MORNING from FAIRMOUNT, GA.

PAUL: Everyone who is working still, thinks that when one retires, you have all this free time to lay around and get bored with life. We both know, and many of the other guys who are retired know, that this is just not the case. I am far busier in retirement then I ever thought I would be. I am amassed at how fast the day and time goes by.
I pray for all you people in the midwest tonight, there is some real nasty weather out there and more tornado warnings. What a line of storms headed east from the Gulf to Illinois.
