Good morning:

Dick said: "I received a call from the George Bush last night, he wants to make sure that the $600 economy boost checks that most of us will receive in May, stays in the U.S., so he wants us to buy MRR stuff that is made in the U.S.  I guess that means Branchline, ME, Kadee, most of Woodland Scenics...can you guys name more stuff?"

I suppose we could look through the Walthers catalog to name more. I think Bowser is USA. Craftsman building kits such as Campbell should be USA, too.

Of course, we're having a yard sale next month; so stop by with all those big dollars. Big Smile [:D]

Ryan might be interested in knowing  my son and his wife are moving to NC in Ryan's area. I already have a nephew there with his family.

Happy Model railroading everybody.

Zoe, could I have a refill on my coffee please (and one more cinnamon roll)? Thank you. Hope I don't get the TOP, but I just might this time...

(edit) Whew - thanks for saving me on the TOP, Garry! Smile [:)]

Well, let's see - Bar Mills, RDA, Digitrax, DPM, Bowser Mfg., King Mill, and (I think) Blair Line... Oh, you're welcome on the check, Dick - Ryan and I can't wait to retire and let some of our younger MRR'ers contribute to our Soc.Sec. checks (and join the ORF ranks). Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

RT - good to hear you have the home sold. Now the VA just needs to get with it and save you those long drives, right? (And SOON, VA!)

Well, back to my coffee and cinnamon roll.

What's for lunch? I'm hot and thristy from working the gardens and landscape and it is 76F now and 91F in full sunlight, which I am was.

JEFF: Didn't think of that because it was so early in the morning, however, I suppose he could have left rags in the front of the window in full sunlight. My son who is a call fireman will let me know tonight what the cause was.

GARRY: I forgot about some of those and also NCE is in upper NY state.

RYAN: If your wife gets to the mailbox before you do in May, your check might be going for a new home appliance. Jeff doesn't have to worry about that. LOL

RT: Glad to hear the house is sold, now if things work out for you in SC that will be great.

I wish that were the case, we just cut a check for $1,440.00 to the U.S. Treasury on April 14th, so our net after the Stimulus Package will be a whopping $60.00. Maybe she can afford a fancy toaster with that.....or maybe dinner and a movie....but then again gas will be at $4.50 a gallon and then me might have to ride our bikes or some scenerio like that....Whistling [:-^]

***R.T., CONGRATS on the sale of your home. As for that long drive, you could use it as an excuse to drink more coffee.

Last bit of golf fun: My wife sent a thank you e-mail to the G.M. for his understanding and professionalism. This is what she received back:

[Great, Come back anytime and I will let you ride around with the Marshall, no charge.]

Now, before anyone thinks this is a threat, "Marshall" is the name of their course security (who turns out to be that friendly Pilot).Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

Afternoon Gang: The visit from the folks from the nursing home went well. Hot dogs and hambugers for everyone and train rides all around. Only one problem on the last train. a couple of folks that had trouble keeping themselves sitting up right leaned at the wrong time and derailed the car. No one got hirt so rerailed and headed for the station. There was a helper sitting behind them but still had the problem. They might have had no problem  if my narrow gauge gondolas had been used. The only thing is getting them in and out. The next two that I build will have doors on the sides so that problem should be solved. I'll also rebuild the ones I have now with doors.

There is a tornado watch for Palo Pinto county in effect now. That is just west of us so I expect that we'll be next.

I'm going to head back to the track in a bit. I just came home to take a break.

RT good to hear that the house sold. Now to get that job nailed.

Well I'm off. See you all later.

Hi,Gang!

RYAN being the computer dope I am, I dunno how to post links, but it's on page 2 in the layout section."Fast, cheap and easy trees".Way to go on the extra pounds lost chart BTW!Thumbs Up [tup]

ROB: I do golf, but once a year the local lumber co. up here throws a tournament as a kind of thank you. Any contractor who got supplies there gets invited. You should see the course employees stare at a bunch of guys wearing their Redwings on the greens and 4-wheelin' the carts!

RT: Yeah!! [yeah] On the house sale!

Well, I got both bikes going on sunday. Hers needs a new battery. Was going to pick that up today til she let me know that the front brakes are toast on her car. She brought it into the shop we use and the guy(jason, hardworking young(25) guy, the kind I don't mind giving bussiness to)asked who did the rear brake job because the O-ring seals were shot and leaking fluid. Robyn reminded him that HE did.The price was $125 yesterday but $248 today with the "extra "rear wheel work.I'll wait to talk with Robyn before I go see the kid, hoping he'll be a good guy to her so I don't have to be a bad guy. He's always been square-up with us before, hope that hasn't changed. I will say when you ride up on a bike for some reason  people take your concerns a little more seriously, although I'm the biggest wuss in the 5 county area!Laugh [(-D]

Beatiful 74f and sunny here but T-storms tonight.

Good eveining all, just thought I would stop in and let everyone know I'm still alive and kicking.

I just finished mowing the grass for the first time this season.  The sun was shining and it was a really nice evening to do it.  I just finished a few minutes ago and right now it's raining like crazy. The rain came up real quick.

I see everyone is spending their rebate check.  I've narrowed mine down to one of two choices. Either a wood chipper for all the pruning and brush I have to keep cut back around here or to help pay for an engagement ring for Pat.  I haven't decided yet, that limb pile is getting awfully big. Tough choice Whistling [:-^]. Of course the garage train room out back needs some work before I can start my dream layout too.

As long as you're thinking of US manufactures don't forget Ye Olde Huff & Puff right here in Lewistown, PA.  They only make parts for other manufactures though.

Been working some OT the past several weeks.  We get a break now until June 2nd then it's right back at it again.  Oh well, it will help boost my pension when I retire next year.

See you all later.

***Terry, good luck with the "brake Kid", hope he'll do the right thing for Robyn.

Since I am not getting a rebate check, I'll just stick with buying from wherever. Mischief [:-,] Besides, what N scale steam locos are made in America these days anyway???

Question: Does anyone have a (N) Intermountain FT unit and if so, did it come with windshield wipers? For that mater, do any/all of Intermountain's deisels come with them, or is that something modelers have added themselves? Thanks!

While I'm here, one last refill, thanks!

Time to break out the tweezers and the optivisor, you gotta add them yourself.

***Philip, sorry to hear that. I was thinking that was "way cool" if they came with wipers. Oh well.

Hey guys, my new Atlas Shay arrived today. THAT was LIGHTNING FAST delivery. However, if you have one, please see my question about it out in the big forum. It looks very nice with the offset rear light and other unique details, but I'm not 100% sure about it.

Well I'm back and in one piece. The storm didn't bring us any more then rain and a bit of wind. I won't know until tomorrow how much rain but I don't think that it was a great amount. So I guess I'll cut out again.

I got an E-mail from Ed. He said that they won't be able to make it up here for the meet. So I guess I'll have to wait untill next year to have a chance to convert him to a more visiable scale.

Good night All

Good Evening All!

We're under a winter storm watch here with 10-20 cm of snow and strong winds. Oh well, so much for summer. That was last Thursday when it hit 70F.

RT, glad to hear things are going well with your house. Hope the move and the new job go well too.

Not much happening here, other than sharpening the snow shovel. I did finish the re-lay of my service yard and think its time for running trains and maybe putting together a box car kit I got a few months ago. I need a break from scenery and structures.

It's late and I need to rest up to shovel the drive so I can get to work in the morning so I'll say good-night.

Good Night

Tall cool glass of water, please!

***Paul, as long as Ed's scale is smaller than Horribly Oversized, that's really all that matters, isn't it? Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg] Glad you didn't get hit by a bad cell there.

***CN Charlie, enjoy your snow. Seems strange somehow to hear of shovelling snow when it was 80 degrees here in North Georgia today. It is all yours!

Well, after slowly running the new Shay loco for around 2 hours, both turning it around and changing directions on the test loop, it has smoothed out quite well. I think it will be a keeper after all, but will know for sure the next time I run it. Those sure are teeny tiny drive rods/gears/thingies. Almost afraid to pick it up. One thing is for certain, TopHobbyTrains WINS the speed of delivery contest, hands down.

Hopefully the track I ordered last week from OnlineTrains & the more recent Berkshire purchase will arrive soon. Going to put my vintage Berk up on the-bay tomorrow night. Perhaps some other items as well. Running short on things I am willing to let go, although there ARE still some diesels resting in a box on the shelf. I keep thinking one or two early deisels would be OK to have on a steam layout. If that is the case, then I would still want to sell off all the vintage and replace them with 1 or 2of the finer representaions avaiable now. OK, enough rambling....can hardly keep my eyes open.

Have a good night folks. Cowboy [C):-)] Rob

Mornin, an irish coffee please Zoe.

Another warm day with a high round 80 and a chance for afternoon showers n thunderstorm later today and tomorrow. Cooling off this weekend and into next week with to in the 60's. One weather guesser is forecast a frosty morning or two, next week, but that guy is usually wrong more than right.

Been working out in the yard enjoying the nice weather. Even caught a 6 ft black snake and a 14 in milk snake, turned them lose back in the woods after playing with them.  Don't think I'll get as much done today with rain forecast later today and tomorrow. Sure hope we don't get much, our garden is almost dry enough to work up.

DICK

We haven't seen any honey bees round here yet this year. I'm starting to get a bit concerned; the gardens and fruit trees won't do well with out them. We haven't been hearing any frogs or toads either and these woods and along the creek should be noisy by now.

RT,,

good news on the house sellin, now if uncle Sam will just get his back side in gear.

JERRY,

You going up to Rockome this weekend?? If you are give me a call, we've got some $1 off coupons. We were, but didn't really have the playing with funds and then gas hit $3.55 in Casey yesterday. So' it's a staying home weekend now.

Mother's job isn't looking to good, 2 weeks ago today, one of the big bosses came down and they fired 12 managers and supervisors, then laid off 4 of their long time hourly workers at the Marshall plant. They then went to the north plant in Casey and fired 3 managers, but left the south plant [Mothers] alone.

This past Friday they went to Mothers plant and announced that they were closing that building and moving everything to the north plant over the next few months.  After they left there, they went and fired the Marshall plant manager, moved the north plant manager to Marshall, and move the south plant manager north over both divisions.

The moving part wasn't really a surprise, seeing as how the north plant had had 300 employed 6 years ago and now has 39 there, but nobody knows who's going to keep their job when the move comes including DEB.

I best gets going and on to chores. Thoughts for all those in need and hope ya'll has a gooden

Howdy gents....

R.T. glad to hear you sold your place! Cograts!

Hey Rob, that is a great invitation riding around with the marshal! Yea, they just make sure everyone is playing fair, keeping accurate scores, and don't run all over the fairways too fast with the carts.

Paul how did you fare with the storm passed through last night? Hope all is well! Glad to hear it was non-event for you! Big Smile [:D]

Terry I found the thread, thanks for the heads up!

Garry I work in Durham in the RTP area just east of downtown area. This area is full of great job opprotunities.

Steve, nice to see you back! Your first lawn cut huh! I'm up to #3 already and grass is set for #4 by this weekend!

Mike sorry about Mother's work, sounds like business is on the down slide! Playing with snakes huh! Whistling [:-^]
