Good morning, Well another bright sunny day here in Boston.

John: You will be staying about 10 minutes away from Weymouth where I live. There are about 1/2 dozen decent Hobby Shops near Boston. Charles Ro in Malden, but they seem to cater to mail order more these days, don't quite have the great HO selection they used to.

Bill's Friendly Train Shop in Rockland is about 20 min south of Quincy down Rt 18. He does carry a large stock of N and HO.

The Platinum Spike in Cohassett, 1 Pleasant St, is a small shop owned by a club member. Even though small does have quite a decent selection of HO and N. Not old dusty stock, new releases accross the board. He feeds all us in the club and we keep asking for more...This is about the closest to Quincy about 15 minutes south on 3A.

Trackside Sales in Attleboro, is a fantastic shop but it is about 50 min down 95S heading almost to RI.

MR Dealer listings gives others. Platinum Spike is not in the directory.

I don't know what your hectic schedule for the weekend. If by chance you have a couple of hours to kill, I would be happy to show you the club and layout in Hingham. The club is only 10-15 minutes away from where you will be staying. I can access the club at any time. Email me for any info on LHS or time if you would like to see the club http://www.ssmrc.org/ . You have probably seen all the pics I have posted, quite a nice layout we have in that 10,000 sq' building.

I need to head off to w*k, a busy week wrapping up on this job. ....No added stress mind you..

Morning all!

Got any flooding around you Jeff, or is that yet to come?

We've got some rain today too.  It's not the prettiest start to the week.  Warmer air is moving in, but what that means for us today is a lot of low clouds and drizzle.  Most of the rain and thunderstorms will be very spotty, few and far between.  In spite of the gloomy weather, it will be warmer than normal with highs ranging from the low to upper 60's!

As some of you know, I've been fighting off a cold for almost 2 weeks now.  Well yesterday I spent a good portion of the day in bed dozing.  I crawled in bed about 3pm and basically stayed there until this morning.  And do you know what?  I'm still drug out and tierd!  And it's not like when you've had too much sleep either.  It's like when you haven't had enough.  I guess it might be an early night tonight, huh?

My son continues to improve every day.  he still gets the occasional shooting pains from those nerves that he's never really used until now, but other then that, he's walking all over the place on his casts and doing most things normally.  He just doesn't let much slow him down, ya know?

My wife is coming down with the cold I've been fighting I think.  She was sick to her stomach all day.  She's better now, but yesterday was tough.  She couldn't even hardly sit up.  I'm glad she's better though.

So Rob, how's Puddles this morning?  Dialated any more?  Hows your wife taking it?

Well, I've got to run just now, but I'll stop in later.

Bye!

Good morning ............

Philip ........ I'm glad things are going well overall.  As for cold symptoms, have you tried "Airborne"? We've used it here and it does help in our opinion to quickly boost the immune sytem. of course, the trila lawyers got in theact recently and won a class action lawsuit because there's "no scienticic proof' that the stuff works. I'll just say it's helped in our family.

On my layout, I'm continuing with the scenery. I showed alittle bit with a couple of photos this weekend. There's much more to do. It's rural scenery, and the old Burlington had plenty of that. I suppose to make it more real, the barnyards need to semll like barnyards.

Happy Model Railroading

Good morning Diners.......cloudy and showers have begun at 11am, 35F, no sun until tomorrow. Good day to do some layout design as well as read the latest MRR mag. The furnace repairman just left, of course the furnace would not fail as he tried everything to repeat the problem. There was only one thing that he did that he feels might have caused the problem. The power vent has a vacuum switch fed by a small 1/8" tube. If that gets and dust, dirt, etc. in that tube and blocks the vacuum, it will cause the furnace to cutout while the zones are still calling for heat, hence the off/on/off/on/off/on action of the relay switch chattering like a chipmunk. Time will tell if that was the cause.

I was reading the new Kalmbach book on DCC, it is really quite informative and has the info presented very well, I recommend that you guys check it out the next time your at your LHS.

BOBK: Sunny skies in Boston area at 8am??? Not for long Bob, raining here just 45 miles west of you.

PC: Philip, you have been under tremendous stress, have not received anywhere near enough sleep, and you wonder why you can't shake your cold?? Young man, you need to take care of yourself also, if you hope to take care of your family. Don't make me send Big Mike out there now...lol.Wink [;)]

Later guys, time to get lunch ready, I'm in the kitchen of the Diner today.

Gerry, Zicam has always worked better for me.  I've been using it quite a bit, but this thing is just a tough one to kick.  I know some other folks with it and they're having trouble kicking it too.

Dick, yeah, yeah, I hear ya!  Bring him on big boy!  I'm man enough........OK, maybe not, but it sounded good......

Good Morning, Zoe! Sorry I missed this weekend (mostly). Lots of posts to wade through, that's a definite! I'll have a ham & cheese sandwich, cheesey fries, and a Dr. Pepper, please.  Thanks, Inch!

Wonder where Ed is now - visiting the kids in Texas, likely. But the tankers of the OJ keep on coming, so he must have elves managing the shipping duties while he's gone. Wink [;)]

Great pics of everyone's progress - Ryan, I like how that Allied Rebuilders building is coming along. And JR, is that building you've been working on a DPM modular (with the powerhouse sections)? I like that one. Yeah!! [yeah] Jeff, I'd say you did a fine job on rebuilding that A unit. Thumbs Up [tup]

Hoople, you may have to be looking to annex some more territory for your RR, if you're going to have a decent train to match that Big Boy. Shock [:O] I hear you about not being able to fit 140 cars on that layout you have - not even sure that in iNvisible scale that you could fit enough cars on there! Wink [;)] Got an adjacent room that you could commandeer for the RR line?

Last night was the videotaping for the church's worship DVD, and the Spirit in the place was awesome (Yeah!! [yeah]!). They did had some good munchies in the choir practice/ready room in the back, most of which we got back to after the service (hey, I have a reputation in the Diner to live up to!). Now, to wait until early summer when the CD & DVD is ready... Oh, (I might have mentioned it earlier, not sure) one song the worship leader wrote will be on a new CD coming out April 21st (I think), "Reign Down USA", with Michael W. Smith, Delerious?, Aaron Shust, Newsboys and others. Go here if you want info on the CD:

http://devotionmusic.com/reigndownusa/

Well, I think I'll have my lunch now. Dinner [dinner]

Blessings on everyone's Monday,

Thanks. It's missing a couple of peices but nothing critical.

I went to Hobby Lobby today and came back with some goodies. A Bachmann Silver Series flatcar, a roll (90 feet, 22 gauge) of stranded hook-up wire and two bottles of medium gray ballast.

Hi Gang: I just renewed my subscription to MR and Trains. It's raining in Milwaukee and Ft. Worth is getting hammered. No real connection there just a comment. No rain for us here but I'm hoping.

I went over to the track earlier and put the trucks under the narrow gauge gondola. I also moved the diesel to the upper bay in the engine house so I can work on it.

I'm going to cut out and be back tonight.

Howdy,

Haven't done much MRRing the past week, been down with this sinus infection, felt like I had an ice pick stuck in my left ear.  Dorothy was so sick she hasn't even played with her new sewing machine.   She finally starting eating solid food Saturday night, took her 3 hours to finish off a hamburger patty, Sunday I got her to eat 2 hotdogs.   Today she had to go to the dentist to double check her jaw, the sinus infection traveled into her gums on the left side.

Dorothy wants to edit the LSW logo to embroider it on a polo shirt; if that works she plans on buying the art work for several of the RR and make shirts and sweatshirts to sell at the local train shows.

I need to get busy; friends want to come over this weekend for the first operations visit on the new layout.

Evening Gang: I got a suprise alittle while ago. I called another friend of Tony's to see if he was stil with us and LJ said that he woke up yesterday. He was able to comunicate some and then went back to sleep. He woke up again and that is the way it's been going. I had planned on going in tomorrow so I may be able to actually talk to him. If nothing elas I'll visit with his mom and just hang with him for a bit. He is something else.

I've been waking up around 2am the last couple of nights and not being able to get back to sleep for a couple of hours. I hope that I can sleep through tonight.

PC you and the wife are run down. You need to get some rest and regroup. I think that the girls are going to send Vinny over to nurse you for a while. I know that you'll do what he says or else.

I'm going to head for bed and see what happens.

Good Night All

Good evening ...hope everyone had a great Monday despite soem horrific weather in many states.

LEE: Here is the latest on the train accident here in Canton, Massachusetts. The focus is on the local lumberyard personnel. The de-railer was working properly when tested. Now I don't know how long it takes to install a de-railer, but can you just see someone at the lumber yard saying "ohhh s****", and running out there to install the de-railer to CYA! If it was installed, and working properly, why didn't the car derail before rolling out on the main line? And another question, why was the switch set to the main line??

CANTON, Mass. - Officials investigating how a lumber car rolled onto a main line and smashed into a commuter train have their eyes on employees of a local lumberyard, the Brockton (Mass.) Enterprise reported. The car hit a Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority commuter train Tuesday (see yesterday's News Wire), injuring 150.

"Transit police investigators are taking a close look at the actions of the personnel in the lumberyard and equipment that is designed to secure freight cars on the siding," said MBTA spokesman Joe Pesaturo.

A freight car standing on an auxiliary track should have a hand brake applied to make sure it doesn't roll away. The track where the car was sitting was equipped with a derail, which should have derailed it and prevented it from rolling onto the main line. The derail worked properly when tested yesterday, so it's unknown why the derail didn't work.

When the collision happened, the MBTA train's engineer had been warned over the radio and was trying to move the train in reverse. Somebody at the lumberyard called 911 and warned that the car had escaped and was rolling onto the main line, also used by CSX and Amtrak trains.

After 2:00am...I don't see Paul, so perhaps he's finally having a good nights sleep. Hopefully so is PC & family.

***Mark, layout plan looks good to me, but what do I know about it. Still trying to figure out how to make something interesting on a door/table here.

FIL is weakened but doing OK. Wife is still having a hard time with everything, plus she still needs shoulder surgery & a trip to the Dentist which isn't helping any. Puddles is alive, but I give her a 50/50 chance at best. Wife & I worked on her today without success. Gave her a couple different shots when through. Time will tell.
