Afternoon all -

Janie - No food today; just a glass of water, please? Thanks.

Just a quick stop in for me for now. Have to get ready to go to g/f's place for her b'day party (her's is actually the 3rd, but her older sisters' was last week and mom decided on just 1 party for them). Mom's (her's) making spaghetti and stuffed shells for dinner. Ice Cream cake for desert.

Prayer's for all that need them... Paul (Tony), Mike, Bob, PCjr, et al.

Need to get my passport paperwork going as g/f wants to go to PEI this year (probably after I get back in August).

Dick - Know of any good hobby shops in the Quincy area? We're staying @ the Quincy Marriott when we come out on April 24th (gameday @ Fenway) for her cousin's wedding on the 26th.

Well all, time for me to get going. But, before I do, I have just one thing to say.... "PLAY BALL!" That's right folks. Baseball starts tonight w/ 1 game, and the rest start between tomorrow and Tuesday. Boston's already @ .500 (1-1), after splitting the 2-game series in Tokyo between Oakland.

EDIT: Rats! TOTP! Well all, eat up and enjoy it!

Take care and enjoy the day!

Hunter - When we met in January of 2000, you were just a 6 week old pup who walked his way into this heart of mine as the only runt in the litter who would come over to me. And today, I sit here and tell you I am sorry we had to put you down. It was the best thing for you and also the right thing to do. May you now rest in peace and comfort. Love, Dad. 8 June 2010

I love you and miss you Mom. Say hi to everyone up there for me. Rest in peace and comfort. Love, John. 29 March 2017

in a UNION PACIFIC mug, please & thank you!

Wow, some really great layout photos posted recently. Keep 'em coming!

FIL is back in the assisted living facility. Wife hardly slept a wink and left early today to go sit with him until she goes to work. She is emotionally spent again.

All my stuff on the-bay is selling today. Sadly, am going to need most of it to buy groceries and hay.

Thinking of the future though: Would you rather have one (N in this case) new Proto 0-8-0, or a vintage Atlas 0-8-0 (remotored with a 5 pole) and a couple other similar vintage re-motored locos? The vintage remotored locos really run quite well, but are not very detailed. Pondering further reduction in numbers to make one or two upgrades. Then again, having a good running vintage loco is kinda neat also. What to do?

Very gusty here with cool temps. Wind chimes are singing like crazy. Going to go work in the cabin for awhile.

Healing thoughts to all in need.

New PROTO 2000 because it is DCC-ready. Also, if it comes with sound, I'd much rather have it.

I know. My younger sister used to live in Barstow.  I had to keep up with the time differences so I wouldn't call her too early in the morning.

 Quick refill, thanks.

Warning, this might be a bit gross for some:

Our favorite old bottle raised pygmy goat "Puddles" has been unable to deliver her kid today, which has already expired. I tried twice to pull it, but fear I would kill her outright to try again. This is the same goat we took many years ago to the U of GA for a C section (when we had the funds to do so). She is our oldest and wife's favorite goat. Nothing I can do now but let Mother Nature decide on the outcome. Had the same thing happen to another nanny a few weeks ago and she eventually expelled the dead baby days later and has been doing better each week. That was an exception to the rule though, so I am not optimistic for Puddles surviving this. I don't even want to tell the wife, as I don't know how many more hits she is up to taking these days. Yikes....bad timing. -Rob

Weather's warm and damp here. It's been raining off and on most of the day. Hey, that sarnie looks good. I'll have a bacon sarnie.

That's the way it'll be here tomorrow. You wouldn't guess that a bunch of rain fell the day before.

Rob, do any of the standard birth drugs (like plutosin (sp?) and such) work for goats to cause them to go into labor?  Maybe that would be  more affordable way to hurry nture along and limit the jepordy to Puddles?

***Philip, we probably still have some in the Dungeon Fridge, but the problem in this case is not contractions, it is too large a baby. I checked and there is just not enough room to for this kids legs & head. Puddles has delivered in the past, but this time she is unable to and I was unable to pull it, certainly not without someone else to secure her. Even then, pretty sure in this case I would do some serious damage to put any more force than I already tried, and she would surely go into shock at that point. It is one of those tough calls. Evening Gang: John and I went to the gun show in Ft. Worth today. He was selling his Colt 45 auto. He finally sold it to his BIL over the phone. $14 for entrance fee and he sell's it over the phone. I saw a couple of items that I would have liked to have, like a simi auto Bren gun, a simi auto MG42, and a simi auto 1916 Browning water cooled on a wheeled mount. Prices seem to be down from the last time I was at a show. I did get a bag of small clamps for the modeling gig.

Thanks for the kind thoughts and prayers for Tony. His trials are almost over.He has suffered for some time.

Right now I have a headach. See Der, I told you what happens when  I try thinking.

Rob it seems that when it rains it pours. I hope that your FIL gets better soon. I know how you feel about Puddles. It's hard to see an animal suffer and not be able to do anything about it.

Well I guess I'll head for bed.

Good Night All

I had a good day. I went to the last day of the Fillmore & Western Rail Festival today in Fillmore, California. The turntable was running. I checked out the D&E 2-8-0. The loco looked in bad shape. The boiler was off the drivers & the cab was off, plus there was no backhead. They had the Sespe on display. The stack & smokebox was rusty. The bad news was that the Live Steamers left  their property across the street from the station. I got a copy of the 2007 Bachmann Product Magazine & a video.

                                                      See ya!

J.P.  Check with BobK, he lives in the Quincy area somewhere, and can tell you every LHS in that area. I live 40 miles west of there, west of the city of Worcester, so I know the LHS's out this way, like Tucker's in the town of Warren, which is my favorite, as well as the Palmer RR station which is the hot spot in NE as well as a GREAT restaurant.

GAV: Sorry to hear about that plane crash south of London, several people killed on late news here just heard at 11pm.

Dick If you do what you always did, you'll get what you always got!! Learn from the mistakes of others, trust me........you can't live long enough to make all the mistakes yourself, I tried !! JP, Charles Ro Supply Co. in Malden has a good selection of N-G. They are home to USA Trains, G scale, and boast of being the largest lionel dealer.  Half their store is devoted to warehouse space, and their is a layout, built by Dave Frary upstairs.

Evening.

I got myself a backdrop finally... But it's too heavy (Wish they had masonite, stuck with 1/2" birch ply) so I need to find some braces to hold it up.

Besides that, Microsoft Train Simulator works on the new PC! I installed FEFs, Big Boys, Challengers, SP 4449, SP Cab Forwards, and a bunch of others.

I'm gonna go play it before hitting the sack.
