Good morning, It been a while since i've been in here. I'll have the usual!
Here's some pics of what i've been up to:

Morning!
Jim that was a good one! Thanks for the laugh......er......quiz.......
Well, the expected rain turned to sunshine, first sighting of the sun in 4 days. The 61 F. temp this morning is the high, supposed to drop to the low 40's by this afternoon. Oh well, spring lasted for about 5 days, here comes winter again....
Couple of my lastest efforts...

Dang that looks sum good.....Chloe, set me up with the same!
Morning all!
Seems this cold of mine might be letting up! I feel quite a bit better this morning. I'm still not 100%, but maybe 90%. I'm alol for that.
So it's like only going to get up to the mid to high 40's today. I'm so ready for real spring to get here. I'd like to start walking around the lake again and stuff.
My wife and son continue to improve, and soon they'll be chasing me around again. I told the ladies that have been coming over and cooking dinner that I think we're back on track, so I thanked them and sent them on their way last night. They were an awesome help, but now that things are getting back to normal and I'm not so sick any more, they need to be with their families, not mine. They were an incredible blessing to have around though.
I guess thats about it for around here.
Later!

Hey, I'm with you!
Good morning to all, full sun today but extremely windy. We had a line of TS's come through last night at 9:30 that lit up the sky, downpours, hail, and winds over 50 mph. The winds continued to howl all night long and kept waking us up. This is rare to have violent TS's here in early April, it is only 34F this morning.
J.P.& ED: The Red Sox played a great game last night, beat Oakland 2-1, DiceK was really ON, as he struck out 9.
PC: Glad to hear you have the cold under control and that the family is getting better too. The warmer weather is just around the corner and that will also help the spirits.
PAUL: Very sorry to hear about your friend. That really leaves an empty spot in your life that now only memories can fill, but that will really help Paul, been there too!!
BOBK: Have you heard anymore about the Canton Train crash and what they found at the Lumber Yard?
JEFF: Have you read the latest issue of TRAINS mag.? They have a really nice article on "F" units, check it out.
DUKE: Are the Michigan politicians really planning to sell Lake Michigan water to help the states down south?? Hmmm, if they sell the water under the same program that Alaska has for their oil, you stand to get about $2000 per year per family member, just like the Alaskans. Just think what "that" will do for MRR budget!!!!
RYAN: Enjoy the sun, you have more rain coming soon.
Later guys, time to get going.
grayfox1119 wrote:JEFF: Have you read the latest issue of TRAINS mag.? They have a really nice article on "F" units, check it out.
Speaking of Walther's, I just dropped $80.20 on Walther's this morning. I ordered two Digitrax DZ125 decoders (Walther's #245-DZ125) and one 10 pair pack of Kadee #5 couplers (phone order special promotion item) and had them shipped second day air, so they should be here Friday.
Well, well........lots of fun going on here!
Local businesses are under a lockdown due to the bank across the street being robbed and it looks like someone may have been shot. The suspect was seen running to a local WalMart next door and is currently still at large.
Gotta go!
grayfox1119 wrote: RYAN: Enjoy the sun, you have more rain coming soon.
I heard about that, but still partly cloudy and sunny here today....
Cox 47 wrote:Ryan...Your shop looks good....Did the prime mover come with the kit?...
Yep, it was a part of the Allied Rail Rebuilders kit, but you can buy it alone from Walthers for about $4-5, I think it is on sale now.
Check out this craftsman model of a EMD 567 Prime Mover, I would love to upgrade to one like this....
This one was built by the late Augie Hiscano a four-time national champion model builder and his bio and history can be found on the The Internet Craftsmanship Museum at the URL

Cheers,
in a AT&SF mug, please & thank you.
***Philip, are you going hunting? Hope they catch that *** quickly.
***Lee, I would call what you get as a rare and glorious slumber. I finally fell asleep at 6:00am and slept until 11:00am. Yawn!
Going to take pics of my old Bigboy and put it up for sale on the-bay tomorrow. Going to tuck away whatever I get for it into a "New Bigboy Account" and start saving for one of those fancy new Athearns. Might put up the remainder of deisels and old Mallet as well, to speed up the process. Still haven't decided on that one yet.
Rob
They're still looking for the guy. There's helicopters everwhere and the police are blocking off intersections and only letting one car through at a time. I guess a manager from a local Wendy's restarant was going into the bank to make his deposit as the robber was coming out. The manager jumped back in his car but was shot. He's at the local hospital now. This whole area is on lockdown by the police. Guess I won't be going out to get lunch anytime soon, huh?
You can see the latest here: http://www.wishtv.com/Global/category.asp?C=1504&nav=menu35_1 It's the top story, complete with video. Also here: http://www.indystar.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080402/NEWS02/80402030/-1/NEWS
Looks like the genieus didn't get any money in the robbery and he also shot someone. To top it off, he's the most wanted man in the Indianapolis area. He's having a VERY bad day!
BTW, Rob, hows Puddles doing?
***Philip, Puddles is doing OK still. Wife gave her a third shot of penicilin this afternoon. I don't think she has passed IT yet, but I haven't done a thorough search either. She's not too interested in food, but is drinking plenty. Time will tell. Thanks for asking. BTW, you can probably guess how she got her name, eh! (she was an indoor bottle baby and couldn't keep a diaper on)
I posted this question out in one of the BIG FORUMS (spooky place outside the comfort of the ol' new Diner) Anyway, here is my question:
["62' HRDRA-CUSHION Beer car" I am interested in knowing the year (ball park is fine) when these cars first came into use? Also said on the side of this Southern Pacific car something like: LD Preco Loader Insulated, if this helps. Thank you for any info.]
BTW, this is a Red Caboose N model. Even though it is a Southern Pacific (which I like & usually keep), I am looking at every option for generating Bigboy funds and if this car came into play after the steam era, then I am willing to let it go on the-bay. Anyone here know?
Thanks! Rob
Jerry, when the figures come I'll let you know what I think of them, they had N-scale people as well. If I knew about their street lights I would have bought them instead of the WS non-lighted street lights I have now. Granted this stuff is coming from China, but at these prices you can't beat them.
Jeff, if you want I can start saving AT PS for you. I do a lot of computer repair and I normally throw them out.
Rob, I've been studying for the Chief Service Wide Exam coming up in May. I could loan you a couple of my text books to read (you'll be asleep in 20 minutes).

"BEER" CARS62' PC&F Insulated 'Beer' Box Cars Built by Pacific Car & Foundry (PC&F), these cars were delivered in either 10' 6" or 12' 0" wide door versions. First built in the mid-70s with production continuing into the early 80s, many cars are still in service today disguised in new paint and lettering due to changes in ownership. These long box cars are typically found heading to and from breweries as they were designed to haul beer and other commodities that required the product to remain at a constant temperature during transit. This car could accomplish this without varying the temperature more than 1 degree.
***Philip, THANKS for the info. Mid-70's...then it's heading for the chopping block. Hey, did they catch that crook yet?

I saw the highlights on Sportscenter this morning. I hope Lester can redeem himself and get a win in this afternoon's game. Start time is in about 20 minutes.

Hunter - When we met in January of 2000, you were just a 6 week old pup who walked his way into this heart of mine as the only runt in the litter who would come over to me. And today, I sit here and tell you I am sorry we had to put you down. It was the best thing for you and also the right thing to do. May you now rest in peace and comfort. Love, Dad. 8 June 2010
I love you and miss you Mom. Say hi to everyone up there for me. Rest in peace and comfort. Love, John. 29 March 2017
Looks like this page is on me.
Oh, btw, before I forget, g/f and I are going for a short day trip Saturday towards Rochester NY. I'll take the camera incase I get an opportunity for some railfanning!

No problem......
Hey, did they catch that crook yet?
I don't know, but the choppers are gone and so is the extremely obvious police presence.
Dick They have been talking about that for a few years now but there has always been a block put in place and that is just fine by me. We need the Lakes and don't need the water going elsewhere and they have been down 2-3ft for about the last 3-4 years. You wouldn't think that it would make a difference but it does and Lee could probably tell you more about that. Hopefully with the snowfall we have had this year(in the top 20th since recording) it will bring them up some.
Ryan Look'n good!!!
Luc Good to see you in again,if only for a short visit.
That's about it

Afternoon, Diners! Zoe, my afternoon usual (RBF), in a cold frosty mug, please.
Thanks! Where's Sue? Better tell her the floats are getting ready, she'll be by for one in no time at all. Hey, Sue - I agree about that very nice shot of your #7 Shay in your signature.
OzarkBelt, good to see you back in (and that you've been busy on the MRR'ing). How's your revamping of the layout coming along - do you have much to go yet?
PC, got a little excitement over your way, huh? Your whereabouts have been vouched for at the time of the robbery, right?
Lee, that does sound like an excellent price on the figures, and even if you have to clean them up and repaint some (but hopefully you won't even need that). You got me thinking - is there anyone in the Diner who's tried some of the operating street lights (HO), and how do you like the ones you got? I'm mostly looking at steam/diesel transition era type lights. Some of the Walthers ones are definitely too modern for my use, but I wanted to know of other ones that look good and work well (Walthers, Busch, Brawa, or others?). And of course, the more affordable, the better!
Rob, I hope Puddles gets things passed soon and is feeling better. Almost as hard for you and the wife worrying about her as it is for Puddles, I'm sure. Hope you get a good price on your engines and rolling stock you will be selling.
Ryan, I like your progress, and that EMD 567 engine. Did you paint any detail areas, or other colors than silver all over? That craftsman one looks really sharp, but I will need to look at how much time and $$ might be invested in making it look that good...
Hey, Duke and PC, if down South needs more water, they should just hook up a pipe to the Mississippi around here! Some places south of Cape (Dutchtown, Whitewater and others) would dearly love to ship out some of their excess. They're still cleaning up, even some around here from a while back - have seen mattresses, box springs and other stuff in a big pile out next to the street (that apparently got soaked in someone's basement when the creek overflowed a couple of weeks ago). So if they want water, just hook up a pipe - of course, it might come with various assorted 'stuff' in it or floating on top of the water...
bjdukert wrote:Luc Good to see you in again,if only for a short visit.
, Luc! How're you and Gloria doing, or are you snowed in still up there?
I'll be w**king on my float for a bit. Since JP's treating, come join me and have one, Diners!
Blessings on your afternoon and evening,

LSWrr wrote:Jeff, if you want I can start saving AT PS for you. I do a lot of computer repair and I normally throw them out.
Jeff, I just tossed 6 AT machines last Tuesday. People give them to me to do a secure format (aka a low level format) before the machine is scrapped and often I salvage all the still working parts and sell them to the computer repair shops. I'll let you know what I get in if it's any good.
Jim, I have to confess those people are un-painted but for 100 people for $2 you can't beat it.
I also put a bid on a used, but operating W-S-M lifting type car dumper, we shall see what happens.

JP: Lester pitched a great game, a 2 hitter. Rumor has it that Ed got so excited after the game that Dice-K pitched last night, he party'd too much on Tequila and is not out on the front porcelin yet...LOL
JEFF: I take it those 2 new Decoders are for the "F" units? BTW, I don't know if you heard on your news yet about the big fire in Manchester, NH last night. It was a row complex of Condos, over 10 units destroyed. It was caused by one of the electric coffee makers, she left it plugged in, 1st floor. She smelt smoke from her Living room, went to the kitchen, saw the flames and ran out LEAVING THE *** DOOR OPEN !!!! There is no shortage of stupidity in this country!! Over 100 people without a home today because she left the door open and the fire got a good start with the air supply out the hallway from her apartment. Luckily no one was injured.
As a point of safety to all my friends in the Diner:
1. DO NOT leave toasters, coffee makers, and other small kitchen appliances plugged in!!!! They can fail even if turned OFF!!! Bet you didn't know that!! Coffee makers are notoriously bad, and have started many fires while NOT in use!!
2. If you ever have a fire ( and I sincerely hope you never do ) shut the door/s when leaving. You want to cut-off the supply of air to the fire to keep it from spreading fast, and also to confine the smoke as much as possible.
3. Keep type ABC fire extinguishers always handy in your home, placed where you can safely get to them ( not in a cabinet or wall close to a possible source of fire !! ) I have one in the bedroom, one in a hall closet, one in the family room, and two in the lower level of the house. I do not keep one in the kitchen because that is where a fire is most likey to occur, and also not near the wood stoves either.
LEE: That was great deal on EBay, 100 figures for $2!! Painting them should not be a big deal at all. I would have my grandkids paint them, they love it , and they take pride when they see the figures that "they" did on the layout!!
Later, guys,
refill, thanks!
Took out the old Challenger and after about a minute it ran just fine. Am thinking IF I put this one up on the-bay along with the Bigboy, it could bring me the brunt of the needed for that new Athearn BB. Will probably suck it up and offer that one too.
Anyone have any knowledge of any manufacturer considering making a new Y6B Mallet anytime soon? I have an old Riv one I am also probably going to add to the sale list, but hesitate if I may never be able to replace it. (then again, it could really help me pay for that new BB)
OK, I admit it, I find myself obsessed with acquiring that BB-beast.
Miss me? No? Well, fine. Then I'll jussaddle you with my Southern Indiana picutres. Any guess as to what rail lines I stalked?
