You know, it's funny.....they weren't really interested in a middle aged overweight white guy.
Evening Gang: I seeded the areas in the field across the creek that I had filled in last month. I put out Johnson grass seed because I wanted to get a good stand for sure. Of course since I want it to grow there it won't. If I didn't want it there it would grow.
Luc good to see you in the dinner. So how's everything going?
I'm still waking up around 3am and having trouble going back to sleep. It seems that if I have something to eat helps but it still takes a couple of hours. Maybe tonight will be different. I ought to go down to the basement and work on the MRR. Atleast I'd accounplish something.
Time to check my E-mail and hit the sack.
A tall cool glass of water, please & thanks.
***RT, congrats on passing. Hope you get a decent offer when the time comes.
***Paul, you have a pretty typical farmers attitude there. I would like to plant some kind of super fast growing grass in our pastures that the horses could eat. With so little out there right now, I would just be feeding all the passing birds.
Spent most of the evening taking pics of stuff to sell and running them through Photoshop. A few train cars I'll have to shoot over again tomorrow. Then tomorrow night I will list it all and cross my fingers. "I WANT AN ATHEARN BIGBOY" Maybe I am suffering from "The Hoople Effect"

Flashwave- excellent pics, what does CMPA (IIRC) stand for? Good pics of Skagway too.

I appreciate the kind thoughts on our #7, Jim and Rob. Did you notice the name, S & L Timber on the shay? Just a little personal touch.
Gav, The creek bed will be dry until Larry gets moving on his trestle. We have enough elevation drop that it should be a mess.
Rob, Glad to hear that someone else is too lazy to put the auger on the pto, too. I figure that I am good for 3 manual auger posts or 12 PTO posts. Hmmm. Sounds like work.
Ryan, Thanks for the photo updates. Looks like you are progressing well.
Dick, How is bowling coming? Our local bowling alley was flooded in December. Three feet of water on the lanes. When finished, there will be all new lanes.
No layout time today. We went to the Evergreen Flight Museum in McMinneville, Oregon. They have the Spruce Goose on display. There was enough room under the wing span to park a couple of small airplanes like a DC-3 and a SR-71, and smaller planes under their wings. Now I want to watch the Aviator again.

Good Morning all,
Another bright day here in Boston, and at least it is supposed to stay. Yes Dick you were right the other day, You get the weather an hour or so before we do at the coast. That sunny Monday turned to rain. No additional news about the crash in Canton. Now that is under investigation, we probably won't hear much for a while. Usually many guys at the club always have the goods on any train related incidents, nothing yet, only speculation.
Philip: So glad things are much improved at home. I am always blown away with so many helpful people during time of crisis. The Methodist Woman took turns making dinners for us during April's ordeal battling cancer. I had to tell them when I wanted to make a meal myself.
Sue: That Spruce Goose is really immense, Saw it in Long Beach years ago when it was next to the QE II. Hard to believe that that thing did actually fly (sort of).
Paul: So sorry for the lost of your good friend. He seemed like quite the fighter to the end. Thank God he had your support, must have made things a little easier.
Ryan: great prime mover, too bad you can't find some loco and cut up the long hood and place it or just have it missing ready for the transplant.
Get back later, have to run....Lots of wood w/ my name on it today.

Good Morning All,
A regular to go please. It may be spring and getting lighter earliier, but we got down to the teens on temps last night and it really doesn't feel springlike yet. Still lots to do, but we're catching up. I have to dismount/mount almost 2 dozen racing tires today and finish up a couple of other jobs so we can look at whats left before loading this weekend.
RT- way to go with the physical and good luck. PC is probably happy he doesn't need printing what with that collection of empty pie plates down at the police station covered with his prints.
Good to see Luc and Bob (BOGP40) dropping in. Not much to report on the layout - been too tired to do much so I'm just planning the next few things before starting up again.
Getting the call back into the shop. CUL, J.R.

I'll have the usual...
Its coming... got a while to go, though. Right now, I'm working on combing a Walthers Magic Pan Bakery with a Pikestuff Enginehouse, parts and peices of a Walthers Glacier Gravel co, and an Atlas Roundhouse to make a credible paper mill. got a while to go. I'll post pic's when i finish.

Jim you know I might be leaning toward your way of thinking too in regards to the time and money scenario! I spray painted all the parts while they were still attached to the sprues with some silver metal enamel from a spray can. I will most likely fill some of the gaps with Squadron Putty and then apply another light coat of silver metal spray paint again.
Dick thanks for the safety tips. I too have some ABC extinguishers, one in the train room, one near the washer/dryer area, one in the pantry near the kitchen and one in the mud room next to the garage.
Garry good one...Depends...
RT good luck in SC, and sounds like things are moving right along!

Flash nice Picasa photo galleries, thanks for sharing them!
Hey Sue, the Spruce Goose eh! Yea, the Aviator was a good movie, quite a bit long but good!

Bob K ya know I been thinking of cutting up one of my old Tyco locos just for the purpose of showing a rebuild in progress scene, and the prime mover would be a perfect for that!
Howdy Luc good to see you dropping in lately!

Good Morning, Zoe - I'll have a glass of Ed's OJ, cup of the java, and some of Bill T.'s breakfast buffet, please. Thanks!
Lee, that's still a good buy on your figures, and this way, you can make them all different from everyone else's. Great price! I've bookmarked that seller's place for checking after payday gets here.
Rob, if you get a newer engine, as you said, it'll have better detail and should run every bit as good as your Challenger did. Whatever gets you through (and leads to maybe a better loco, too). Got the BB fever, huh?
Flashwave (Jan), I like the paint scheme on those locos in your pics - pretty sharp!
RT, I'm guessing you don't mean you are waiting to have fingerprints, right? Hope you hear back soon on starting that job. Like a lot of government-related stuff, it sure takes a while... Best wishes for a great pay rate and a quick starting date there!
Sue, I'll have to 'fess up that I'd missed the "S&L", but that is a nice touch. Glad to help you get your RBF fix. How big of a drop does Larry have to reach with his trestle? You might get him in touch with BridgeTom (twhite is his forum name, I think), who's built a few trestles and bridges (though his have been a lot of steel ones).
OzarkBelt, that industry/paper mill idea sounds interesting (and I like kitbashing anyway). Will look forward to seeing your pics and maybe getting some ideas I can transfer to my layout's needs.
Fiddled around with some layout designs last night some. I'd realized over the weekend, that I would need more space than just a spare bedroom if I'm going to fit even half of the structures I already have in it. So I've been working on a little bigger (12 X 12 so far, but I think I'll have to look at a duplex and commandeering a fair amount of the living room or garage. Maybe then I can use most of the structures... or maybe not!).
Well, need to get back to the w**k thing. My 9:00 appointment will be arriving soon. I'll drop by later in the day (maybe for a root beer float, huh, Sue?).
Blessings and a dry place to stay today,
Jim in (soggy) Cape Girardeau

That might be tougher to find since that is not in the cabinet.
I was thinking that one of Bill's donuts sounded yummy this morning, Chloe.
Bob, At the museum, they had a film clip showing the disassembly and moving from Longbeach to McMinneville by barge. It was trucked the last 7+ miles. What an ordeal. I think they said 44 pieces. I could not get a photo of the whole thing inside the building.
Ryan, They had a mini set for the filming. We never did find what scale it was in.
Rob, Tell me more about your Challenger.
Jim, If you use the living room, does that mean you don't have a life? Our layout is roughly 13 x 14, and that should keep us busy for a long time. If we had larger, we would never be operational. I will check in later for RBF's.
