Afternoon,

C&O Fan, my LT just transferred to CC, TX what a way to welcome her aboard the unit down there.

Rob, sorry to hear about your shoulder

"His sailing vessel was on its way to the Azores islands in Portugal when it overturned while being buffeted by winds and heavy waves from the storm" Sounds like he needs to sit through one of my NAV classes.  N.S.  And Azores don't even look alike.

You can't complain to me about 20' seas.  I drove a 44' MLB in 35+ seas for 13 years.  You're in a 200'+ ship Smile [:)].  The gondolas were everything from New Jersey Rail to UP so I painted a few of them in L. S. & W. colors.  It really doesn't take long to apply decals, but I found it's hard to get started applying decals.

251B engines are used in our 210 FT Coast Guard Cutters.

Who is at bat?

ONLY THE SHADOW KNOWS!

I know exactly what you mean.  I tore a ligament in my right arm a couple of months ago and it still hasn't healed.  Hurts like the dickens!

Evening (good day) gang!

Only 7 more work days left here for me! Should be leaving here w/in the next 9 days! YEAH!!!

Dick - The AM radio station I used to listed to as a kid, on occassion would play 'The Shadow' epsiodes. Some of those episodes were something to say the least, especially for a kid my age!

Well gang, time for me to Dinner [dinner]

Take care!

Hunter - When we met in January of 2000, you were just a 6 week old pup who walked his way into this heart of mine as the only runt in the litter who would come over to me. And today, I sit here and tell you I am sorry we had to put you down. It was the best thing for you and also the right thing to do. May you now rest in peace and comfort. Love, Dad. 8 June 2010

I love you and miss you Mom. Say hi to everyone up there for me. Rest in peace and comfort. Love, John. 29 March 2017

I had to memorize that piece when I was in Jr High for a school skit. That's a lot of material when you're trying to get it down pat. Man, that school skit was over thirty years ago. Where does the time ago? And if anyone says 'Into the past' they're getting clobbered with a brick-laden custard pie.

Not quite...

http://www.cbc.ca/canada/story/2008/07/23/cristobal-sailor.html

Last night we had worked our way to the South where we would have been nice and snug hove to do Science but as luck would have it we got tasked to proceed to go 90 nm to the west as an Emergency Beacon was going off and someone might have been in trouble. Turns out it was a Sailboat. Anyway the old girl steamed headlong into the 20' + seas quite well with winds gusting to 50 knots. Earl Grey was tasked out of Dartmouth along with a Hercules Aircraft, HMCS Montreal, and a Cormorant Helicopter. Helicopter got there first and lifted the guy to safety and we got stood down after 5 hours of pounding...

So how was your evening?

As for the Gondolas... man you have patience! I have about 80 but in different road names 20 of which are M.E.S.S. I have another 10 left to do and if i schedule accordingly i should get to them in about 4 years.

Paul: Ya I hear ya hopefully a loose wire is all the problem was. If not I see a major overhaul coming.

Here's a Question for all you brite-Boys! As you know the Hudson is driven by 4 Alco 251B type Prime movers: What does the 251B mean?  (I do know the answer).

Terry: Glad you could join us, how are you holding out?. Hopefully Dolly will spare you, Paul and Ed!

Yeah, I know Abbott and Costello. Or at least more than others my age. What did I miss? He should be on second base? Your talking about this bit right here

Dad was into those skits, and he and some friends did a community theatre production set on Pearl Harbor as a news broadcast on a radio show. They did some of the classic skits, era correct or not, and inturrupted with bullitens from Pearl Harbor and from responses around the country later on. Dad was sound effects, and I also remember him doing Magee's closet.

Good morning ........

Rob ...actually, it's Tom who is thinking of selling locos............ I have more old locos than I need, but each has its "story". It would be hard to part with them.

Tom......... I should have mentioned the cover on my book, Articulated Steam Lomotives of North America. by Robert LeMassena. It has a Rio Grande challenger 3707. The distintive front end ends of those challengers made them unlike any others.

Happy Model Railroading, everybody

It's 75 and mostly clear here. We're expecting a high in the low 90's with a chance of thunderstorms later.

I hope we get some rain soon. The grass is starting to look a very unhealthy yellow tinge. The only other thing that went on was we had a call-out for a grass fire in Evans.

in a SOUTHERN PACIFIC mug, please & thank you.

***Johnboy, man that is a LOT of smoke coming out of those locos. I can easily picture a couple steamers in their place. Excellent photo.

***J.R., glad to hear the construction can proceed. Seems like in your case (still living in the structure) that it should have already been done by now.

***Garry, good luck selling those extra locos. Hope you make a lot off them.

Managed to re-pull/tear/pop something deep under my shoulder blade. Don't know exactly what it is, but makes it hard to take a deep breath or look down. Wish I could trade this body in for a newer model.

Had a real nice rain last night. All the severe storms went by on either side of us. Nice to have the water storage tanks full again.

Have a great day, all. Cowboy [C):-)] Rob

Morning, Diners - just stopping in to mark my place. Have too many pages to read through now at w**k, so I'll mark my place in the booth here, and come back over lunch or dinner and get caught up.

From this morning's weather report, Jeff (and Teffy, if you're peeking in the window), you'd better batten down the hatches for the rain today. Paul may even get drenched out his area, depending on which way Dolly decides to go once she hits landfall. Shock [:O]

Watch yourselves, our Southwesterners!

Blessings and a dry place to be today,

Mornin, an irish coffee please Zoe. Weathers a whole lot nicer today,

Mostly sunny skies will be around today with more comfortable temperatures in the lower 80's this afternoon. Light north winds will keep humidity levels down for today and tonight with overnight lows dropping into the mid 50's. Thursday will stay pleasant until the chance for rain showers move in during the late evening hours. Daytime highs will climb into the mid 80's with a light west wind Thursday afternoon.

JERRY, I don't plan on spending much at the show. I like the old tractors [especially the steam] mostly.

PC, I'm sure the church booth would be happy to sell ya all the pie you could handle, so come on over. It's only about 160 mile from you. If you want to do some rail fanning on the way, get off I-70 at Marshall, and take US-40 over. You can see the old Pennsy [CSX], Vandalia line most the way.

PAUL, What's on second?

JR, good to hear from you. Sounds like your making some progress on the house now.

Tonight's not going to be a good, we got visitation for my Aunt Elizabeth [grandma's sister] died Monday at 83. She was my last aunt still around on mom's side. I have one uncle still with us, at 95 on that side, but his health has been fading and age has bout taken his mind.

Best get back ta chores, thoughts for those in need and hope ya'll has a gooden

Morning all!

I wasn't around much last night......anything shaking?

Yeah, I had family from all over the U.S. over last night.  Saw relatives that I haven't seen in 25 or 30 years over.  It was great to see them again.

Well, after a night like that, I need to get back to work so I can get some rest!

Later!

Good morning all,

Thunderstorms this afternoon and over night.

Ed how close is Dolly to you?

http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/

Fergie, are you in port?

TOM, HO I see. Keep me up to date on any locomotive sales.

Jeff, plate #2 looks real good from here.

Dale ran into a former Champs dealer and bought a box of FP&E decals. Fairport and Eastern a short line that serviced coal docks and a few chemical companies.

Good Morning All,

70F and a light rain with rain predicted all day. Got back from Elkhart Wisc ok and getting into the swing of things in the shop. We ended up bringing 10 cars out and brought them all back in good order - no blowups, crashes or other incidents.

Still waiting on the insurance adjustors for the house contents, but the contractor is movig forward after we met with him and the building inspector to go over what needed to be done to meet code. We will get to keep the 7' ceilings on the second floor rooms as "pre-existing" so that helps a bunch. The rest was pretty straight forward. Not so easy is what to do about HVAC as we have a combination of single pipe steam on the first floor and electric baseboard upstairs. Now is a good time to upgrade but the steam is more efficient than most other systems.

Went to the museum last night and helped with the new O gage laying out a roundhouse and hill that we'll combine to make a single area.

So much for now, I'll just get my coffee and get back to it.    CUL,  J.R.

You're right. Who's on first.

Good morning.

It's 75 and mostly clear here. We're expecting a high in the low 90's with a chance of thunderstorms later.

Nothing special going on today. I went to my parents place for lunch yesterday. Lunch consisted of BLT's and chips. They had theirs on wheat bread, i had mine on sourdough. I hope we get some rain soon. The grass is starting to look a very unhealthy yellow tinge. The only other thing that went on was we had a call-out for a grass fire in Evans.
