If it's guaged properly it'll go around a 9 3/4"r curve, but it'll look like an elephant on stilts doing it!

Okay let me put this better what is the proper track radius . I'm a little confused here anyway if its 9 3/4" radius does that mean a 9 3/4" circle or is that 19 1/2" circle I forget its been so long I like my o gauge O-27 = 27" circle O-31 = 31" ect, ect, ect.

any way I have the engine now need track and transformer for it was thinking buying a cheap bachmann set basicly for the track lol.

 Good Evening All!

Just in from shoveling that snow that Johnboy sent from Regina. Thanks! Well the Riders may have won but we didn't do too bad considering our #1 QB was out with injuries. Oh well at least the U of M Bisons won the Vanier Cup. For those south of the border, that's our university football championship.

Think I'd like that hot cider about now. Didn't realize this was a licensed establishment!

Jim, I have started negotiations with the CFO/CEO on increasing the trackage rights for the Mortimer sub. They are very delicate and must be approached carefully. I have suggested that a better place for the layout would a small upstairs bedroom. Out of the way,etc.,etc. So far though she has been very understanding and indeed generous. She gave me a Spectrum Consolidation with sound for my recent birthday and suggested another loco would be good for Christmas. When I suggested one that doesn't have sound, she said " Oh no! You must have one with sound". I think I'm on the right track here! I'm thinking of one of those PK2 GP7's that are coming out soon. Only Canadian road though is Algoma Central. I guess I could say it got lost and wound up in southern Ontario.

I'm at the starting scenery stage on the layout but doubt I'll get much done until after Christmas. Put together some of those Woodland Scenic trees and was surprised how well they turned out. They certainly didn't look like much in the package.

Read Jeff's weather report. As he has denied my request to stop posting them I have decided to be happy for him basking in that warmth. Never mind, hibrination has its advantages-more time for model railroading.

Good Night,

Dave(CNCharlie)

I've had nothing but good things to say about Norton Anti-virus, it's saved me a few times.

Nice pictures of the locomotive on the truck, I never have my camera ready when something like that happens.

I have the ice house almost complete, once it's finished only 20 some odd more buildings to put together, LOL.

Ok well you guys have a good night.......

Just a tall cool glass of H2O tonight, thanks!

***Corey, fortunately my wife doesn't keep the Breyer boxes. Funny you mention wedding dress, as my wife will not bring her old one (from 1st marriage/deceased) into our new home. She said it would be bad luck. Personally, I would like to sell it and buy trains with the proceeds.Laugh [(-D] We never did the offical wedding thing. Our marriage was spur of the moment after 10 years together. I figured I knew her well enough by then it would probably be alright.Big Smile [:D]

***Lee, I'm thankful there are good folks like yourself to serve on ships. (I would remain green indefinitely I suspect) Hope you get the 140' you put in for.

***RT, my Bachmann 4-8-4 does manage to make it around the 9 3/4r test track, having a tougher time of it than my old Concor S-2 Northern That said, both would do considerably better on much larger radius track. If the Bachmann was pulling cars, all bets are off. My My 2 cents [2c] worth.

***Philip, NICE job on catching those photos. Neat sighting!

Hello everybody:

I worked some more on the layout today. I layed track for a small freight yard to provide room for cars to/from Blackhawk and to/from the steel mill.

Paul: Do you still have a friend planning to build a C&S narrow guage 2-6-0. While visiting my mother I picked up a set of mechanical drawings that were with my late Dad's stuff. He purchased them in 1978 from Conway Locomotive Company in Burbank, CA. You may let me know if your friend is interested.

Another set of drawings with my Dad's stuff was for the "Titfield Thunderbolt", a small english locomotive that was in a movie with the same name. How many of you have heard of that engine?

Happy Model Railroading.

Evening Gang: I had to go to Ft. Worth to the VA clinc because I ran out of one of my meds. Since I was in the city I went over to my friends house. He's the one with cancer. He wasn't there so I checked at the hospital and he had been released so I left a note for him to give me a call. I hope that he does, since I worry.

Jeff: I'm glade that you liked the card. I couldn't find one with a train. I like the photo there. It looks like late twilight.

Lee: Talk about falling in it and coming up smelling like a rose. Now I expect that you won't take advantage of the situation or the lady, will you? I saw that the Calumet has been tied up for the last time. Another of the old ladies gone.

Well I better get going.

Good Night All

So I'm driving down the road, I 69 out of Indianapolis, and I'm fighting all this rush hour traffic.  It's cool, I expect it at 10 after 5 in the afternoon, right?  So anyways, I'm cruising along, and up in the next lane is something you just don't see everyday.  There's a train on the hiway!  Actually, to be more precise, a train on a truck on the hiway. (No, this isn't going to turn into some kind of Dr. Suess thing here.)

Now I had taken my camera to work today because I knew of this old caboose that I wanted to get a pic of on my way home.  OK, it's not on the way really, but thats all academic, right?

Seizing the moment, I reach over and grab the camera and, while trying desperately not to drive off the road and become some sort of weird statistic, squeeze off a few pics.

Oh yeah, and I did make it to the caboose, though the sun was quickly fading.

PC and hoople sad thing is the closest Hobby shop to me is probbaly ashville N.C. and I'm in Tn its about 65 miles away the next hobby shop is probbally nashville which is other direction about 185 miles knoxville doesn't have a decent hobby shop that does O gauge from what I've been able to find.

Cox or other n saclers what size nscale track do I need to run a 4-8-4 nscale engine with a 16 wheel tender.

Pc you can come visit anytime but what I can run will be very limited I can't even run my 72' passenger cars as not enough room so a big boy would never make it here especially in O gauge.

If one of those anti-virus programs is Norton, drop it. I've had nothing but problems with them. Another good one to drop is anything by McAfee.

I think we'll only keep one on, because when the pewter place called and said that our comp was ready to be picked up they said there were 5 different anti-virus programs on there and they were all 'fighting' each other. and the memory was way below what it should had been. so they added more memory, and there was a bunch of different viruses on there that the fighting anti-virus programs missed while they were fighting.

Fergie:  This will sound stupid to those that haven't been there, but I still find myself sleeping with one leg out 90 degrees to my body with my knee bent and the opposit hand resting near the edge of the mattress.  On the 165' patrol boats i would crawl in the coffen rack face down then try to roll over quickly.  This would bind my left shoulder to the rack above me and my right shoulder to the mattress thus wedging myself in the rack on my side.  I did mostly caribean patrols durring hurican season, the south Pacific side was always calm.  My days in the north pacific found me driving a 44' Motor Life boat in 35' to 40' breaking surf.  after 21 years of getting beat up by mother nature I like my nice calm office job right now, LOL.  I will transfer in 2008 and i've requested a 140' Ice breaker on the US/Canada border.

Cedarstrand, the bad part about Breyer horses is storing the empty boxes.  They're in the same category as the wedding dress.  I had to find a permanent place for these wastes of space!  Oh well!  My wifes overall usage of the basement is pretty minimal.

 refill, please & thanks!

***Corey, you guess correctly.Laugh [(-D] She has dozens of Breyer horses. Have never counted them but they seem to be everywhere. The one good thing about those Breyers is they don't require feeding like all our real horses.

I did a dumb thing: Thought I had purchased HO scale EZ track for wife's table layout, only to discover I clicked on N scale by mistake. No problem, as I can use it. But as tight as funds have become presently, I would not have spent that money on myself right now. Guess I didn't have enough caffeine in me that day...or too much!?!Sigh [sigh]

Off to do water rounds bfore it gets dark.

That, or move the elevator to the upper siding and the oil dealer to one of the lower tracks...

That might do it!

Okay...okay....seeing as how I done stirred up a bunch of hungry folks with the Thanksgiving feast menu.....

All the turkey is gone! Sad to report, but we done ate it all up, can you say "Turkey Sandwich!" Stuffing and casseroles too...all gone! And about 10 lbs. added to the waist line later.....

I'll have to post a few photos soon when I get them uploaded. Everyone said it was dern good so I'll take their word for it too! Duke can back me up on my cookin' techniques!

Yepper! Sometimes when I am in the train room working I have to remind myself to stop and take a few photos along the way, then sometimes I wonder if I am working on the layout so I can take some photos, or is it the other way around. I'm confused!

Fergie - Sounds like you need more than sea legs with those waves and gales. Good luck with that!

Philip - Maybe the boss has plans for you to take on more duties with all that training coming your way....hummm...

Sue - A party on Friday and Saturday? Wow, that will be one heck of a long party!

Jerry - Speaking of Christmas trees, have to wait until Monique and Ben get back, so weekend after next we will be cutting down one for the house.

Perfect timing Jeffery! Thanks for lunch today!

Good Morning All....Its sunny and a little warmer with a south wind here this morning.....I'll have ham and eggs sunny side up,toast and coffee please..thank you...Battling with the cable company again this morning my phone was bad last night when Mike called me and out all the way now....With Sallies health problem we need to have the phone working all the time...

I sure am missing the railroad but Sallie wants to get the christmas tree up this weekend so looks like it will be after New years before we uncovered....I got another Ebay "junk" box deal I'm trying to get...6 cars for .99 cents...I figure if I only get 1 or 2 running its still a good deal and I have more parts for other rebuilds...I get a kick out of being able to put some of these old dogs back in service....

CNCHARLIE.........Welcome to the dinner...make your self to home.....and come back often....

Jeff.....Nice job lighting the Atlas tower....Looks like you could walk up the steps go in set down and shoot the bull with the operator and have a cup of coffee with him....Those old towers were a great place to watch trains if the operator was friendly and most of them were..I spent a lot of hours at Haley Tower on Pennsy in Tere Haute years ago..

Ryan...Welcome back...How did that Thanksgiving feast turn out?

Fergie......Hope your seeing calmer sea this morning....

Jim,  Looks like your track plans will give lots of operating session options.  What are your layout demensions?

The plan is about 11 X10, but this is just preliminary for now, as I don't have a spare room (yet). The part to the left ('west') on the plan is mostly my current layout (8' X 2 to 2.5'), so this plan is trying to expand that once I get more space to put the layout in.

 pcarrell wrote:

Jim, I didn't measure thos tracks out or anything.  I was just trying to tighten things up a little.  The reach to the back of the yard is kinda long but not undoable (ya like that word?).  Just trying to make it and the duckunder a bit shorter.  It may just have to be something you live with if you go with that plan.  It's not a deal killer I don't think.

PC, I was figuring I could reach to the turntable side area from either the bottom right (where the door would open) or the upper middle (above the sidings). Good Morning gang,

Look at those cute Waitresses,  Hellllooo Girls, I'l have scrambled on toast, large OJ and a decafe, Thanks.

Jeff:   Update on the weather in the center of the Great White North

Today for Regina  -20C.   Snow,   Wind    W@19,   Humidity 78.    See what you are missing.

CN-Charlie,  Welcome aboard,  Check the above weather, you'll be getting that later today or tomorrow as you are just down the road from me. 363 miles.  And by the way the Roughriders WON..haha.

Fergie:   Hang onto that pillow guy, we don't want you to be whale bait. I was salmon fishing in Oregon back a few years ago. 30ft. swells off the coast near Astoria. 42ft boat, was never so darn sick in my life. Caught my first fish at 6:00am and spent the rest of the time from then until 1:00pm eating crackers and then running to the rail to chuck them.  I had the misfortune to draw onto that boat with six ex-navy guys who were just loving it. The other five boats were back in port by 9:00am as it was just too rough.  Never again.  There are parts of this Prairie Boy that are still blue.   -- and Charlie that is not Blue Bomber Blue either...

Have a good day to all the rest of you.  I don't think I'll be going out today. I have to make some tunnel liners besides some of the honey-do-list..

That is a good price, better than I've seen in this area.

Good morning everyone, a brisk 36F here this morning after a low of 30F, clear skies, so we will make plenty of solar hot water in the roof panels today. I am taking some photos of the completed swing gate on the layout this morning, and will post them and some of the Canadian Rockies train trip as well as long as I don't have to drive my friend to the hospital, he has been suffering with kidney stones most of his life, and now he has one that is 1" in diameter....talk about hurt!!!!!!!Shock [:O]

CN CHARLIE :  Dave, welcome to the Diner, Sign - Welcome [#welcome] have a coffee and bagel on my tab. Good to see more guys arrive on the CN or CP trains arriving on track #1 outside the Diner from up north. Hey, you can give us advanced warning of cold fronts headed south and any snow storms as well...YEESSSSSS !!!! Thumbs Up [tup]Smile [:)]

MIKE: Looks like Pellet prices are still lower in your neck of the woods, good!!! The new JOTUL 500 wood stove is fantastic! If you ever need to replace or get another wood stove, man, I can highly recommend this baby. It heats the 27x27 family room ( with 11' ceiling at the peak) so much, that the wife is complaining that it is too hot. Can you believe that? A woman complaining that it is too hot when it is 18F outside with winds blowing at 25mph? All from this little stove? I have a floor fan now in the room to blow heat out of this big room to other parts of the ranch as well as the ceiling fan ON to winter direction (CCW). Another big cold wave is headed your way this weekend , so get ready Mike.

JEFF: How are you doing this morning ? Hope the foot is healing OK. I saw on Tony's Trains that he has P2K F8's at $135 with decoder, is this a good price?

FERGIE: Do you expect to back in port for Christmas, or are the scientist still checking the CO2 levels in sea plankton? The warmer the water the more CO2 is found in plankton.

DUKE: Great job with DVD!!! I think that Trains.com is making you an offer this week.Thumbs Up [tup]

DER JOHN: Bring more wood in, you will need it this weekend.

Time to fo to MRR room and take some pics.

Dick If you do what you always did, you'll get what you always got!! Learn from the mistakes of others, trust me........you can't live long enough to make all the mistakes yourself, I tried !!
