Morning all!
Supposed to get a bunch of snow this evening. They're saying up to 10" out west of us a bit! Should make tomorrow mornings commute interesting!
Son has a game tonight. Hope they win! His team is doing real well this year.
Bill, congrats on the retirement!
Oh well, off to work.
Later!
I'm depressed this morning. after a two day battle with my science teacher in chess I lost this morning. I made a really stupid move and lost my queen and from there he used his queen to back me into a corner..
Good Morning All,
I'll have a regular and one of Bills' donuts please. So Bill, are you looking forward to this retirement thing? 98 years of anything is a long time. For one family to serve the same rail line is probably close to a record don't you think?
Sounds like the rest of you have hunkered down to try and wait out this too foul weather. We've missed the worst of it here at home but my middle son was smack in the worst of it yesterday in Plattsburg, N.Y. (way, way, way upstate).
Haven't been too talkative of late but I keep reading about the exploits and adventures the rest of you have and congrats to Fergie on the pic and best wishes for little PC in his game tonight. Hope the rest off you are well or improving and that RT has some luck finally finding a good combination of living expense and employment. Anyone heard from Luc lately? CUL, J.R.
Morning, Zoe - Just a cup of coffee for now, and I'll be back in a little for more of a breakfast. Thanks!
Well, from a brief glimpse of our weather this morning, it looks like last night most of the snow went either south of us across Garry's way, or north of us toward St. Louis, Inch, Jerry, and on to you 'lucky' people in Indiana and Ohio and points east. Hey, Phil, Inch is right - this one's coming out of the Panhandle, possibly from Paul's area (but I won't blame him for it). Ponca City, OK was shown on our weather, and they're having snow currently.
And
to our newest ROF, Bill T.! So, Bill - whatcha going to do with your spare time now? More MRR'ing? Best wishes on a lot of fun, and remember to get your required ROF nap times in, too!
I'll be back for the rest of my breakfast in a little bit.
Blessings,
Jim in Cape Girardeau
Morning!
Another blustrery cold day here in PA. I'll have a nice big mug of Hot Chocolate and about 6 - 8 donuts. Hey, i'm keeping in shape. Round is a shape
Well got to go. Colby, what's your 500 time?

Good morning folks!
Bright and chilly day today!
Went to the dentist yesterday for the 6-month check up, found I have a crack in a molar and need to have an inlay put on. So....scheduled another visit for next month, now I need to save up for the $425 that they want. When is the Economic Stimulus Package coming?
Hope everyone survived the storms that passed through over the last few day!
Garry, Jerry and Dick, glad you liked the IC menu yesterday; I try to mix it up some!
Dick, now that is a really neat idea with the purple paint that turns white. I have some spackle that does that too, lets you know when it is dry. Now years ago when I was a house painter we used to call those "missed" areas "holidays". I remember some of the guys getting chewed out because they had too many "holidays" on the siding of a house; they had to go back with another coat. Time is money! Thanks for the heads up on the Discovery show, I recorded it and will watch today.
Der John, yep, those public computer kiosks typically give you a time limit. Sometimes I would just go to another one available that was near the one I was sitting. Thanks for the tips on the water pipes!

Der, I didn't know that would be considered a "light supper."
Hey RT, just in case I don't make it into the Diner on Friday I wanted to wish you a very Happy Birthday! Early presents are always welcomed and accepted with open arms.
Lee thanks for the follow-up tips on the water pipes issue!

Flash, what error are you getting? I might be able to shed some light!
Wow, 90° F for a high temp Ed, we will be lucky if our high here is 40° F today! When is that warm air shipment arriving? Sorry to hear about the doggie and bees, but that is really a funny story! Did you say Key Lime Pie? Oh PC....oh Jim....
And yes Ed, weathering of the roof material is on the To-Do list for sure, and it is one of the last things on the list.
PhilnRunt, Man you had a busy night last night eh! I admire your patience and determination and service you provided or attempted to provide with so much reliance on "big business." I know exactly what you mean about outsourcing and the like. The US has turned from an economy based on manufacturing to a service and entertainment industry. I can tell you from experience that is why New Orleans is so depressed, the tourism industry is its #1 source of economic income. After Katrina no one wants to go there anymore, that is also why all the minimum wage earners are not going back. Also, a lot of doctors, lawyers, and such left too because their client base left. And now the new governor of Louisiana, Bobby Jindal is calling for all of us to come back and rebuild. Am I going back? Heck no!
Okay, rant over!

Congratulations Bill! Now when you going to start sharing with us some of your railroad stories? I would love to here about a day in the life working for the railroad!
PC, tell your son we are pulling for him in the game tonight!
Colby just have to gather you self up and think about your next chess battle. Here, have a virtual breakfast on me!

Glad that you like the billboard. It's a Model Power offering that I picked up at Hobby Lobby in Alexandria the last time I was there. They prelit and come two to a pack. Right now they have the original pics on them. I will change them eventually.

Did I hear someone say CAKE??? Oh, you said pie, huh....
Oh, for 'Momma' Dick or anyone else curious, things are looking okay so far on the new lady at the bank. Went by her window over lunch, and (so the other tellers wouldn't be razzing her if they hear me ask her) passed her a note (with my request for a money order), asking about meeting next weekend and offering that she could call me at work or home number. She didn't return the note (so is that a good sign, unless she just shredded it? ). Okay, I'll take it as a good prospective sign for now (no news is good news, and all that).
Jeff, that's a Model Power billboard? That looks better than their stuff does in our Hobby Lobby. I might have to take a look at the Model Power stuff again.
I had our MRR club member/LHS owner order me a two-pack of ATSF covered hoppers (Walthers Goldline, I think they are) to go with my other PS 2893 ones. I may have to design a longer track for my grain elevator, with all the cov. hoppers I'll have (3 SSW, 2 SP, 2 SLSF, 2 ATSF, and maybe 2 or 3 D&RGW ones).
When I was out over lunch (and running the note by the lady at the bank), I noticed that the roads need some watching currently. Kinda slushy here, and supposed to change back to snow tonight for another few inches (3-5 was the last I heard). Bunch of people have called in today to reschedule/cancel appointments. My 2:00 is coming in, and she'll be the first (and last) of mine to show today. My 4:00 already rescheduled, and my 9, 10 and 11 people didn't show. I may slip out after I get my notes on the 2:00 done. We've had some large snowflakes coming down a few minutes ago. Better watch it, Midwesterners (and possibly points south or east of me) - stock up your wood or pellets for your fire, and bring the dogs inside (unless they like frolicking in the white stuff!).
Luckily, I'm not on-call until Saturday - hoping the snow continues and keeps everyone inside for the day (and night)...
Zoe, I'll have a cup of hot cocoa, and that Blue Plate Special looks good. Thanks!
Well, just got a call from up front - my 2:00 cancelled. So now, do I get to go home?
Blessings and prayers for safe travel (and a warm spot to stay),
Yes pc, he said KEY LIME PIE. Please save some limes for my VODKA.

I left out a bunch of names as they don't seem to be around.
Onpage 58, Fergie replies to Teffy but cannot find any item FROM Teffy. Others also refer to posts from Teffy. I am up to page 83 looking for more starting dates.
COLBY- Give me a few months to get back in shape and I'll outdo you in the 50 freestyle.
PC- Thought you used 2 ll's??? I use 1 l also.
Ryan & Jim- PC and I tied for 3 in a row
Fergie- Congrats.
Jeff- You are due. Great work.

Yep, but I'm guessing you have more total TOPS than PC (though he may be closing on your record...).
Can you tell it's an exceptionally slllllowwww afternoon at work? And here I could be home and doing some MRR'ing!
SilverSpike: It's working now. but it was error 403. this page cannot be served right now. And it affected all the forums. But I could get into and through the home page and the other stuff.

The weather got pretty nasty around noon today. A lightning strike took out the power lines about two miles from here. They were fixed in a couple of hours. The cable (internet included) was out for nearly five hours.
Evening Gang: Early evening that is. I finished moving the dirt across the creek except for final cleaning up. I couldn't finish the clean up because of low tree branches. I don't want to tear up the new $33,000 tractor on a branch. I'll get over there with the chain saw and do some triming and then finish things up. Next is to haul the dirt out to the low spots in the hay field and get it leveled out and planted with coastal burmuda grass. I can't do the planting untill the first part of March so I've got some time. No Mrring to day, yet. Maybe later on I'll get to the basement and fiddle around.
Mary Ann has supper on so I'll check out untill later.

I had the same problem, started around 3:00 pm yesterday.I thought I was gonna go into the DT'sCalled Kalmbach and they(Barb,Faith, Megan)got me through it OK.Evidently they were aware of the thing.
It finnally warmed up to 10f today!
Did a bunch of ballasting last nite and poured two more rivers!
JEFF: hope the bad weather missed you!
RYAN: nice round house roof!
LEE: sent you an E-mail with my address, did you get it?
Hope and prayers to those that need'm!

Hello all,
Terry, nope no email, sorry. I think you are the only one that can't email me.
Looks like Toledo and fort Wayne will get 6" of snow this week, they say we will get 2-4" of snow and .25" of ice.
Bill Congrats on retirement. I passed retirement up and elected to take the extra 3.5% towards retirement for every year I can keep going.
Colby, remember you learn more by losing than you do by winning.

CONGRATULATIONS TO BILL FOR HIS RETIREMENT!
Key lime pie sound really good to me!!! I had the blue plate special (B&O Blue and gray). Outstanding! Thanks Ryan. I recall the B&O dining cars on the Capital Limited between Chicago and Washington, DC. Nice trains.
Jerry's making progress on the coal mine. The scratch built house trailers sounds like a fun idea.
I just completed two industrial buildings for my town called "Prairie View". These buildings replace one I removed. The older building was a Faller, European style factory that just did not look like it belonged in the scene. I may have photos of the new buildings soon.
Not to be a pig, but I'm having a second pice of key lime pie. It's great.
Happy Model Railroading

Good Evening Coffee Clubbers,
Another beautiful day down here in Paradise. Didn't make it up to 90º, but got close to it, probably around 88º in mid afternoon. I know that many of you are having "2 dog nights" up there, but I had a "2 nap day" down here. Plus a few errands in the morning, and shooting pool with my father-in-law in the afternoon. It was a tough day.
No model railroading again today. Actually it's been a few weeks since I even ran any trains. But tomorrow is the first day of the Spring Layout Party at TrainBoard, so I guess I'll get motivated starting tomorrow.
Chuck (sunsetbeachry) - nice to hear from you again. Keep us abreast of how the planning comes along for the new layout. Shrinking it a bit may be a good thing.
Bill (Tidler) - congrats on reaching retirement. Hope this is something you've been looking forward to. Any specific plans for retirement?
Flip - nice work digging back through the records. Man, that's a long time to keep a thread (and its successors) alive.
Not much else to comment on this evening.
Hasta mañana,
Ed
ED- The thread is still in my favorite list. Only problem is to get to the page I want.
Question- If over 65 and retired, you are now a ROF. What are you when you have to go back to work? Just an O.F.???
I'm tired. Day off, went grocery shopping in a.m. Deb not well, again. Did dishes and mowed the lawn. Sun felt great. Now time to hit the bed. Work early tomorrow.
Night all. Prayers and regards,
Fossil Flip.

No, WE spell it right!
Give me a little more time, I can do better!
Good evening Diners: No mrr today, except to lay that Peco RH turnout on the mainline to see where it will look best, and where also working it manually will avoid the most yet-to-be-planted trees. The turnout is what Peco describes as "Large Radius." The info sheet is silent on the relation of that radius to everybody else's turnout or frog #s, but it sure looks good as a mainline switch. I've used their "Medium Radius" where I could on the rest of the mainline, but there are some "Short", and I know those are #5s. Anyway, I won't get to do any of that work until I've finished ballasting, and then GLEAMING the newly ballasted sections.
From the sound of the weather most others are reporting, I'll just be quietly thankful for a good day here. I was able to get out to walk this evening for the first nighttime walk in I don't know how long. And I know it won't last beyond tomorrow afternoon.

Chuck and Kathy: Good to see you in again! I guess our layouts would be really something if we could fit in all the features we wanted! Tough deciding what not to have 'though, isn't it. I've found that each layout has had features the others didn't, or couldn't have.
Earlier night tonight, with any luck. Goodnight all, and God Bless. Prayers for all in need of healing (Flip's Deb, etc.)

I had the same issue most of the day yesterday and part of the day today. I noticed the forums have been juggled a bit and a new one added, so I figured it was just that messing me up for a few.
