While continuing the arduous job of organizing the workshop, made a decision this evening. Instead of building shelves to hold the leftover 2x4's (from house construction), why not finally begin my train table. So, borrowing Dave V's layout dimensions, I cut parts for a basic old-style (heavy duty) train table. Although I still plan on using foam, which will make a better table top: OSB or plywood?
Rain finally stopped here and it is a mud fest. Still preferable to drought conditions any day. Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas. Back to the dungeon/workshop for more organizing. Rob

Speaking of cabooses.....Does anybody have old Tyco cabooses not in good shape? I took several apart, repainted them for the L.S.&W and lost the end rails and ladders.

Jeff good to hear that you are close to getting the puter fixed up.
This is going to be short as Mary Ann is still cleaning up and needs help. She ordered me to take a break so I don't want to over do it.
Jeffery, you will be surprised that XP has many legacy drivers. I highly recommend going to the Windows update page, once you get all the security updates it will offer all the drivers for everything on your machine.

well look at it this way the person who did it can be charged with hit and run, and leaving the sceen of an acident. and just be very thankful that the propane tanks didn't blow other wise this could have been a lot worse
and Merry Christmaas to everyone!
I just about have my computer back to normal after rebuilding the main drive from the shattered remnants of the crash the other night. There's only one piece of hardware to install. That's my card reader. Problem is Windows 98 absolutely refuses to accept the driver, and it's the same one that I used before. That won't be a problem for long however as I'm preparing to upgrade to XP. XP won't be able to take in all the components on my main board as it's a bit outdated. Nothing major, just the network adapter (needed for getting on the internet). Installing XP now would have it in place when I install the new board I'm currently paying on. The shop tech assures me that XP will pick up everything on the new board without a problem and all that will be required is a little fine tuning from the utilities setup CD. I'm looking forward to getting my system back on the net so that I won't have to come over here to my parents place to use their dinosaur. They just upgraded it by adding a dual core processor but it's still slower than mine.
I don't know just how cold it was last night but I know I got really cold out on a fire call. The call came in around nine pm. A drunk driver had run off the road, gone through a chain link fence and hit tree. It was pretty obvious that he had been going quite a bit faster than the posted limit of 25 mph, say maybe about 50. The car was a real mess and the engine was on fire when we got there. The fire was quickly put out and the scene was secured. The police couldn't find any sign of the vehicles occupants but had run the plate, so they at least knew who the owner was. Talk about somebody that was in big trouble. Driving while intoxicated, driving on a permanently suspended license, leaving the scene of an accident plus other charges. What a way to spend Christmas.

RT, those cars looks real sharp. Very sorry about your house though, what a bummer to have to deal with that on Christmas. Hope there is no serious internal damage.
A MERRY CHRISTMAS everyone, from Cederstrand Studio & Farm!
Had a OK time with the Inlaws at last nights big dinner. Enjoyed most sitting on a dock watching a barge make trips across the lake on dredge runs. Best part is nobody went psycho. Current goal is to mail out our Christmas cards & presents before New Years.

Zoe, a cup of coffee and some scrambled eggs and toast for me, please. Thanks!
RT, may they get rolling quickly on fixing your lounge and steps (and anything else that needs fixing) there. The cars look good - you're set for summer on your layout, I'd say.

May everyone be able to visit or be in touch with loved ones, friends or family today. for healing, comfort, and may the peace He came to bring be yours. Evening folks-dropping in for a few-Merry Christmas!
Just a quiet evening here-Dawn had to work earlier this evening, & will have to put a few in tomorrow midday. Not much planned tomorrow-just to head to my parents', & that's about it. I got Dawn some gift certificates for our local craft store for her beadwork, even though she considers the fact that I'd already got her Christmas present in September. (our house)
RT-wow-hopefully everyone's ok, & things can get straightened around quickly. Your porch (well, what's left of it) looks an awful lot like the one Dawn had on her mobile. She was right at the entrance to her park & the same could've happened to her. Wishing you the best!
Phil-glad to see ya. "Good People." Those 2 key words are the reason I like to stop in when I can. Shootin' the breeze with the above & also TRAIN people, makes my day. I've seemed to make a # of friends here, & I'm thankful for that. Life issues, etc, it's good to talk things with people that can relate, & also relate being model railroaders/railfans. I truly regret my 20+ years somewhat hiatus from the hobby, for I've missed a lot & still playing catch up.
Well, I better hit the sack-I hope Christmas goes VERY well for everyone else, & I'll try to stop in in the next few days or the weekend.
Merry Christmas to all from my family to yours.
Hope this day finds every one well and prayers go out to all on sick call.
RT hope no one was hurt in that mess.
Paul hope your newest addition is still improving and wait to next year!!
PC hope your wife continues to improve.
Kevin
Merry Christmas to each and everyone!
Here in Indiana, it is 12:05, Dec 25th, so it is officially the big day here.
Quiet in the diner tonight, I see, even the trains have stopped in honor of the day. Glad the diner stays open so those working have a place to relax, watch the world go by and spend time with good people.
Sure hope all of you have a great day today, and that the new year brings happiness and prosperity to all.
Good Evening Coffee Clubbers,
Just a quick one to wish all of you a Feliz Navidad y Prospero Año Nuevo.
Yes, I did complete the pergola project this afternoon, just as it started to get dark. Maybe tomorrow I can actually put lights on it. I should have so much drive to work on the trains. After New Year's, I promise.
Best regards
Ed
Evening, Chloe - how about an eggnog, please?
Thanks! Need to leave room for the cookies and other goodies.
Looks like most of ya are down to the home stretch on your preparations. I got my present for my brother off to him, and got the present for my daughter & S-I-L's present (cash for them to get photos of their new baby when he gets here - early next year). Then went to church I used to attend for their carols & Communion service before dinner.
Then (hey, Dick!) I fixed some salmon for dinner. (Memo to myself - cook it for a bit less time next time...)
RT, that's a heckuva mess(tm) the car did! Couldn't tell for sure, will you be able to get into/out of the place without a stepladder, or how soon can you get things fixed? I sure hope the guy's car insurance gets in contact quickly (ASAP).
Everyone have a good Christmas and remember that whatever you eat extra, you'll be heading for the track or the gym in January to lose.
As for me, I have some more clearing away to do between now and Friday, and some books to go through.
Blessings,
Evening Gang: Not much doing here. I managed to sneak out and get Mary Ann another little gift and got all her gifts wrapped. We haven't gone to the hospital tonight. John said the baby is still doing well. Mary Ann is working on getting the place ready for our daughter Lara and the grand kids Sara nd Rachael. There coming here from New Mexico tomorrow.
Well I guess I'd better go and give Mary Ann a hand.
Marry Christmas to all and to all a good night.
Good Evening All,
In case I don't get a chance to drop by tomorrow we'd like to wish you all a
We spent most of the day at the shop cleaning - wished our Brit fabricator a safe trip (he's off to England with his family for a week) and generally made ourselves useful. Tree up, presents wrapped. Time to sit back a bit and enjoy it all. Hope the rest of you have a good time as well. CUL, J.R.
Guess I'd better get after the Christmas feast as well. How about some ham, taters, corn, salad and we always had a tradition of Strawberry Shortcake for desert growing up.
I thought that I would stop by for a quick coffee. Merry Christmas Eve. I have been working on the layout. I managed to get the ground goop done under the stockyard. I need to get some trees in before I put it in permanently. It would be a shame if the trees fell down the hill and damaged it.
Larry is working on the trestle, so I still have a deadline.
Have a Merry Christmas.
Sue
