Me too, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

I, too, agree with comments in behalf of PC expressing his views. That said, I don't own the forum, and it is priviledge to participate in discussions here. Rules are rules like it or not. If I owned the forum, PC would be allowed to express his views.

Meanwhile, back at the roundhouse.......... I put a lot of time into my layout expansion today.  I posted a photo in weekend photo fun to honor the Santa Fe fans in the forum.

Happy Model Railroading.

Terry, Congrats to your Packers! From what little I saw of the latter half, Mother Nature made a mess of that game. Having moved to GA from WA (and growing up in AZ), I still root for mostly western teams.Cool [8D] Tonight I have been watching NE vs Jax and although I don't really have a dog in the hunt, it's a pretty darn good game. Looking forward to the second half.

Rob- No I did not get any messages from you. Glad you did get mine.

I sure do marvel at your talent, modeling and your pictures. Hoping to hit the lottery so I, we, Deb and I can purchase some [more than one] of your work.  Glad your wife is doing better.

PC & Flip, I sent both of you pm's.

Flip, you sent that via e-mail perhaps a week or so ago, yes? I did receive a reminder and thought I had replied with a thanks!?! I usually catch the train shows at 1:00 or 2:00am, as I am not an early riser. As for Ben Stein, I appreciate his bluntness and insightful perspectives. He is a sharp cookie.

Speaking of cookies, I'll have a plate of chocolate chip cookies and my usual , please & thank you.Cowboy [C):-)] Rob

Jeff-Nice job on the passenger cars and loco.

Jim and everyone- a weathering clinic,I'd have to think about that one but if I can answer any of your questions feel free to ask and I'll do my best. I only hope that when I do build my layout that is measures up to what I done so far. I have never painted track before so that may be an issue but time will tell.

Well, got to run. Just got home from work and have to shower and eat. I'll check back with you guys later.NJ Bob

Hi Rob- Did you get my 'E' pertaining to RFD on mondays at 6p.m.?

Does anyone still have the 'E' that Ben Stein wrote? Someone sent it to me and I know I forwarded it to some other diner goers. I think Rob would like to read it.

Y'all be careful out there. Prayers always for all.

Good Morning, Diners! Janie, how about a glass of Ed's OJ,

glass of milk,

some scrambled eggs and couple of strips of bacon with some hash browned potatoes,

and oh, yeah - mug of TH coffee to wash it down with. Yeah!! [yeah]

Thanks! Janie, I brought these in for the other Diners - the bottom box of them is sugar-free for those wanting that.

I got up this morning, and from the smell of it, one of my neighbors in the building must be cooking a roast - smells delicious! Should I go invite myself to dinner, I wonder? Wink [;)]

NJ Bob, thanks for the info on that oil dealer. It looks great (as have all your photos)! When will your weathering clinic start? Thumbs Up [tup]Smile [:)]

Dean, Sign - Welcome [#welcome] to the Diner, and have a cup of your favorite beverage on me. Sounds like you've been pretty productive with your MRR'ing. My MRR'ing goal for the day (well, plus to get the Christmas decorations put away) is to see about getting some wiring started for my layout. Pushing the cars/locos around on the tracks just doesn't stir up the interest for me like actually running them does, for some reason...Whistling [:-^]

Jeffrey, what do you use to mask for your painting - that 3M blue tape, or something else? Those passenger cars make me think of a tuxedo, all sharp black & white.Thumbs Up [tup]

Colby, if you put 22" curves on there, won't that cut the track too close to the edge of your table? It is 42" (3.5 feet) deep, right? 22" curves plus even 18" on the other left half would total 40", and leave no room for that siding switch on the upper left of my drawing. Unless you got a deeper board for your table than I remembered, of course.Confused [%-)]

Kind of cool this morning, 29 F, but supposed to hit about 51 F today, and it looks like it'll be a sunny day out. Not quite as warm as in Ed's paraíso, but workable for us Midwesterners.Cool [8D]

Time for me to get back to my breakfast. I have laundry awaiting me after I finish here.

Blessings and some productive MRR'ing for your Saturday,

Jim in Cape Girardeau

Good morning all,

While it's not quite paradise here in Euclid, OH who could pass up a rainy day filled with dark clouds and a high of 37F???  Think of all the money I'll save NOT running the a/c (just giving you a hard time ED).

Dean, Sign - Welcome [#welcome] Welcome to the diner! Will your layout be steam or diesel and what part of earth are you from?

Jeffery; the coaches look good, rattle cans never hurt no one and their cheaper than $4 a bottle for Poly or Floquill.

Ryan, can I get a copy of the chowder recipe?

Paul, Glad to hear the grandchild is doing well, carb on a diesel? Don't take this the wrong way; but, how old is your diesel? Is it a Chevy?

I did finish the M.T. Arms Hotel and started on Merchant's row II and the C. Smith Packing house last night. The 19th & 20th there is a train show at valley HS and on the 26th one at the UAW hall, so I'll be on the lookout for more ore cars and a suitable building for my REA Express Agency.  I'm thinking about kit bashing a coal fired powerhouse for the layout once I finish my downtown module.

If you are salty buoy tender sailor or a buoy tender "wanna be", you might want to watch "Dirty Jobs" on Tuesday 29 January. Rumor has it that Discovery Channel is going to feature CGC ASPEN as they work a buoy. So if you never experienced the thrill of a "shooting the tube" or a "heat and beat" first hand this may be as close as you ever get.

Just thought I would pass it along.

Lee

Yes... it can be a rush and down right hairy. It's a cold, wet job that requires many hours of standing and waiting and requires focus as if you let your guard down watch it!!

Many years ago, working on a buoy deck on a buoy tender was rated a one of the top 10 dangerous jobs in Canada. So this should be a good show to watch!

Tall cool glass of water tonight, thanks.

***Paul, glad to hear the grandchild is doing so well.

***Dean, welcome aboard!

Spent most of the evening cleaning the dungeon. Rearranged stuff in my small gym to fit the train table, but it would be a really tight fit. So, now I'm wondering if having it on one side of the main workshop on wheels (the type that lock) could work? It does get dusty down there and it is where my big saws and such live. My question: is a layout in a dusty room better than no layout??? Confused [%-)] On the plus side, it would be a great place to actually work on it and make a mess if need be.

Have a good night all. Cowboy [C):-)] Rob

Hello everybody.

I posted a picture on weekend photo fun. If you're intersted, take a look. Also, Loather started a some livestock humor over there. Funny stuff.

I'm glad Dean's back again. Good luck with your layout. Don't let Ed's boasting about "Paradise" disturb you. He gets a pass for stuff like that because he provides Mandarin OJ (The world's best OJ) to the diner.

Paul, that's really great about the little grand baby. She'll be opening those eyes and having big smiles for Grandpa before you know it.

Happy Model Railroading.

Good Evening Coffee Clubbers,

Another beautiful day down here in Paradise, Cool [8D]  much like yesterday.  Warm, but no so hot that I have to run the a/c, and cooling off nicely in the evening.  Fran and I were sitting outside just now, enjoying a good cup of coffee (from the mountains of Veracruz, of course), and she needed a wrap.  I, as usual, was fine in my shorts.  Yeah, we have different ideas of what constitutes warm or cool.

The day went by slowly, but I never found enough time to work on the layout.  I did finally get started on the latest special issue of Classic Trains, all about the railroads and their efforts during WWII.  Plus I took some time out of a busy schedule to create a great cream of onion soup.  Chef [C=:-)]

Philnrunt - I sent you an email about TrainBoard.

I see that Bill T. has changed the morning offering from donuts to a full buffet.  Good move!

NJ Bob - nice work on the oil distributor.  That collection of different blds and tanks just looks right.

Jeff:  I went to Wal-Mart to get more and found to my great surprise that they had deleted the entire modeling section. Models, paint, cement, brushes, airbrushes, everything, gone! The excuse is that there wasn't enough being sold to warrant stocking the items. ...... I'll have to find another supply of decal paper since that went the way of the DO-Do thanks to Wal-Mart's brilliant decision. They're not my favorite people right now.
Sorry you didn't find what you wanted, but it sounds like you're blaming the wrong people.  Modern stores like Wal-Mart keep track of what moves and what doesn't.  The fault lies with the people in your area who didn't want that kind of stuff enough to buy it.  A store has to stock what sells.  Their job is to turn over goods and make money, not to keep shelves occupied with stuff that only sells once in a blue moon.

That's about it for right now.

Catch you people tomorrow.

Well I got all the cork down last nite and got the track done today.   Not as pretty as I would like it but that is what the ballast is for... to hide my mistakes!!  Now to run the train around, hmmmok wire it up first, than run it around some before I put the ballast down.

And for those who want to know I am an electrical engineer for concert touring shows.   I work with what every band or group the company asks me to go do.  And this is not just a couple of lines of feeder, 3 phase 208 systems.  So me having to use the way small voltage for trains is fun.

Oh yes, I am doing HO scale railroads.  I have just started so I am doing a bit of a few things.  I bought several RTR loco and cars but also bought a few that I have to build.  I did modeling when I was a kid and loved it.   So who knows how I will go in using what is there or what I want to build myself.  Oh yes, I am also a decent wood worker and have more than enough lumber to make what I want.

Any further questions please answer.  And if you ask me something and I dont answer within a day or so than I may be out on the road and usually only check the some things 1 or 2 a week.

Evening Gang: We went to the hospital again today and visited the baby. She is doing well and is cute as a button. She tried to open her eyes and look at Mary Ann and me while we talked to her. I think that she was trying to see who was interupting her beauty sleep. We didn't get back until after 3pm. I just had time to go and get my 7.5 diesel and drop another $95 on it. It had a bunch of dirt and rust in the carb. They also replaced a gasket. I'll take it over to the track tomorrow and if the weather is warm enough I'll take it on a run.

Jeff: That's a good looking paint job. I hope that you can find the paper for the decals.
