Tyler, as I said in the Comment in your video, I think that is one of your best!

Joes, keep up the good work.

I also might be getting an Athearn SD38 with DCC and sound, another super detailing project if I get that unit.

I have to say that is a great video! You ever think about opening up a weathering and superdetailing bussiness WC?

Tyler made the video if you where complimenting me.

I haven't weathered anything yet. I also haven't thought of opening up a business. I suppose I could do a few locomotives for friends ect, but not a business.

Would you consider me a friend??? Tongue Just Kiddn'

Is he actually having you paint all 60 of them? That's a lot of money to spend if his railroad only needs a couple sets of them...

Even if he does resell them, I'm sure the new owners would love some beautiful, blue impax!

60 cars to paint and decal, Alex? That's alot, it's only 2 less that my entire roster. (I have 62 cars)

All this talk about buisness has got me thinking, should I start a locomotive leasing buisness? I have 13 operable engines (out of 17, the 3 C424s are still in the works, the GP35 will be done in a few days, last part is on it's way) and I usually use about 2-5 during a typical session. Best part, all my sets of engines have a sound unit in them, except for my SD45s. My GP35 will go with my trio of GP30s, my C424s don't count since they are inoperable.

I managed to finally finish my caboose kit today,. It's one ofthe Walther's CB&Q 4-window cabooses in BN colors. It's supposed to be RTR, but I went and installed all the detail parts and weathered it. Unfortunenly, I lost one of the trucks, so I'll call walthers to get another one. (I have to call them anyways, they left something out of my last order)

Vincent

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....

2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.

Not to mention yours which I have done very little on... Black Eye

If worst comes to worst, and I can't find time to finish it, I'll send the loco, detail kit, paint, and decals to you, along witha  $60 check.

Page 4 guys? C'mon!

Well, I finally figured out why my SD9 with sound kept shorting out on switches. When I had totally disassembled the trucks and wheelsets to clean them out (It was making lots of noise, turns out it was the motor) one of the wheelsets had became to narrow. I pulled the ends out a bit so that it looked the same as the other ones. It ran fine, but some where along the line the light function in the NCE DA-SR (the sound is an MRC sound-only decoder) in it burned out. The lights are always on in both ways. Sad thing is, this decoder is less than a week old. I'll see about getting both of my DA-SRs repaired under warranty (most of the solder tabs on the other one fell apart when I tried to solder to them for the first time, decoder works fine though. The other one the light outs don't work right) in a few days.

GG, if it makes it easier, don't worry about making it high-hood.

I've spent maybe a total of half an hour or so this past week and a few hours today on the layout, and here's the result (the lichen that doesn't have trees in it is only temporary, and I still need to glue everything down. Not ballasting yet because I'm gonna solder the track and add some feeders).

Town:

yard ladder (I think this is the term, IDK):

rear of engine shed/end of yard eventually:

side of engine shed facing the forest:

I might have the track I need to finish the yard soon. I can guarentee there will be some mocking up of structures soon (namely the distribution warehouse).

I've been gone all day competing at a robotics championship...our team got eliminated in our 2nd round (although there were only about 6 rounds) but we already qualified for the state championship at WPI when we competed a couple weeks ago at BVT (we came in 3rd out of 64 teams!) so it doesn't matter...

I guess I'll see you tomorrow at the Marlborough show, Alex!

I've come down with a lousy cold, so I don't think I'll be able to make it. I think its 12$ for a new youth membership at the Hub Division. If you are looking to score brownie points, you can say you're friends with Alex...

Demon, I don't know how much spectacular work I have done in the past, just small projects.

Sawyer, yes that would be a latter yard. Smile

Well, I just got back from the MR club's christmas dinner.

I managed to get a P2K double door Auto box in SP and Walthers 100 ton cement hopper in Blue Circle as door prizes. Now to put them together, hope my sound-equipped and the non-sound GP30 (SPSF and BN respectively) and UT4R come in before tuesday night, when I'm to run at the modular display in another town. If my GP30 don't come in, I'll use my SD9s with their funky decoders.

Well vincent, hope your GP30 comes in. I like the SPSF paint scheme, wish the RR had lasted longer than it did (like, at least 1 second, lol). I might get a GP20 painted int hat scheme, but probably not, lol.

I think I'm going to add comjmuter ops to my layout and the AAT. Gives me some more scenery to break up the usual, and also a little more running stuff. I already have two old stremaliner coaches I can re-purpose, and hopefully going to be getitng a walthers C-Liner for christmas. Also asking for a Susquehanna RS-1 to be the yard switcher, lol.

MIne doesn't block much.

I got my sound equipped SPSF GP30 yesterday. Today I swapped the shells (and sideframes; black for BN, silver for SPSF) with one of my GP30s. The process was little bit harder that I thought it would be. Turns out I had to cut the front light bar on the older run's (like my BN GP30s) to fit around the relocated lighting. The sound equipped GP30 doesn't pull very well, it had trouble getting 12 cars (with plastic wheels and non-reamed sideframes) going on level track. Fortunately, it'll be running with 2 other non-sound GP30s (will do about 30-40 cars each on level), and that GP35 (should sound about the same IRL; will work on making it heavy) I've been working on for a while. (so it'll run as a consist with 3 GP30s and a GP35, where to put the GP35 in the consist?)

You can also find most of the parts through Walthers, and order directly from them, or from your LHS.

I order from the LHS, advantage being I don't pay shipping or taxes (Hint hint: Get to know your LHS owner!) Tongue

My LHS burned down... Before that it was overpriced and didn't have anything I needed...

I don't actually do any superdetailing projects, as I'm a follower of Allen Mcclellend's "Good Enough" rule for operating layouts. If I had to superdetail every car I owned (almost all Athearn Blue Boxes) then I'd never have a layout to run them on! I do make sure my locos are detailed though, they're all Atlas and P2K, with the exception of the Walthers Trainline GP9m, which is the most detailed loco on the roster... (Happy now, Alex?Tongue)

I do need to do some work on 2306 when I repaint it, as when I built it over 5 years ago, I somehow left off the snowplow, which is sort of useful in New Hampshire and Vermont... 1402 also needs a snowplow and some work, because the UP version comes with footboards and no plow. Footboards were outlawed in the '70s, and it needs a snowplow... Someday I'll work on those...

That's an interesting point, and I'm glad you mentioned it. Now I have reason to add some plows, and remove some footboards! Wink

Yeah, good job supporting those little hobby shops with some of the nicest service, and a live inventory that is actually kept up to date!

I love my LHS. The guy who runs it is great, and they have almost everytihng I need. No pikestuff, and not the best selection of locos (but i should be good on locos after Christmas). Also, no Atlas frieght cars. However, I'm going to ask him about ordering things from Walthers. I'd like to keep this shop (even though it ain't just trains, he also has R/C planes, car kits, and a bunch of other stuff), and also, on my allowance, I can get some structure kits, which I can't get after one months allowance off the internet, and also, my parents will let me get pretty much anything there, but they hate ordering off the internet, b/c then they have to use the credit card. Oh, if only I lived in Baltimore (that's where M.B. Klien's shop is Tongue).
