Which direction out of Montreal? You could run down south to White River Junction, where you could connect with the White River Southern.... Problem is that you'd have to take over someone else's line. I prefer for freelanced railroads to operate on branch lines or abandoned routes, rather than take over the main line of a real railroad. That's just me though.

Montreal Southern

White River Northern

Montreal and St. Albans

No problem, I'll check it out. The insperation for the Naming of the Minnesota, Illinois and Western and the Wisconsin Illinois and Northern came from the DME/ICE regional.

Ok, this is the LAST WIN locomotive for a while. It's a No DB SD40-2 from UP.

That should be the last, all the rest look basicaly the same as the one I just posted.

EDIT: How about Montreal, Ottawa and Southern, MOS.

Montreal, Mount Lauirer and Northern, MMLN.

Montreal, Quebec and Atlantic, MQA.

Montreal, Ottawa and Lake Huron, MOLH.

Montreal, Ottawa and Western, MOW.

Those are just a few I can piece from the map. For a better name, pick some major cities or interchange Points. I'm not sure exactly where your RR runs so...

That's better! I need to find a name for my shorline/regional, which runs south out of Montreal.

Something like:

  • Châteauguay, Roussillon & Syracuse.
  • Mercier Isidore Southern.
  • Hampstead Huntingdon Southern.
  • Candiac, Delson & St. Chrysostome.

Or something like that. I don't quite know.

Here's a link if you like to take some names from the map and make something interesting:

http://maps.google.com/?ie=UTF8&ll=45.304837,-73.605652&spn=0.674187,1.098633&z=10

I would really appreciate it!

I changed it now. The "Silver" around the windows looked kinda of weird to me too. The sliver on my computer doesn't have the purplish tint to it any more. On my old IMW SD40s it does. I think it was because I stopped using my custom "silver".

BTW I made a Plain Jane WIN SD40-2. All of them look close to this. Except fo teh ones I post earlier. There are also two No DB SD40-2s in the Ex UP series that I still need to make.

The WRS units will have striping just like the rest. So far there aren't any units in the WRS colors, just one in the shop to be painted, and possibly a Spectrum SD45 in WRS colors as well.

Nice. Do I see the WRS not in place! Where's the Nose stripes and Chevrons! lol, Wink [;)] Don't worry about flooding, those pics are such low Bytes they load right away, well for me anyway. Hey you know why the traffic is low here? Where'd every one go!

Sweet, I need to go up there! lol.

Hey Sawyer, I was looking at your plan again. How are you going to interchange cars from one level to the next? From what you said it looks like you are going to do it by hand. My new layout I'm planning is going to have one helix, and will be able to expand.

Hehehe, WIN acquired another SD40-2; a Snoot nose from UP. They painted it in the Lemon lime Twist right away.

Hey are you guys getting annoyed of my locomotives I paint? I have been posting a lot lately.

Come out East! We have several running around!
http://photos.nerail.org/showpic/?200806220919108848.jpg
We have former QNSL SD40-2s that haven't been repainted yet.

http://photos.nerail.org/showpic/?photo=2008061520134222066.jpg

Until early this year, we had a High Hood SD45 running around but it died, and is in the Waterville deadline right now. We also have the last 2 SD26's worldwide, GP35's, GP35HH's, GP40's, GP40HH's, GP40-2LW's(canadian widecabs), 1 GP40AC, GP7's, GP7 Chops, GP9's, and 1 GP38.

http://photos.nerail.org/showpic/?photo=2008061416562626180.jpg

I was also lucky to see a NS coal train with an SD70 Spartan Cab trailing, and 101 cars.

Oh, and now Providence & Worcester is also taking coal to the Bow Power Plant for us with their GP40's, B23-7's, B30-7's, and B30-7 cabless'.

...or if your like me you know how to cheat. Mischief [:-,] It takes way to long to paint each little square, that takes me about 5 days to complete one locomotive (I've tried, and it's alot of staring at the computer screen). The way I do it, it only takes Ten Minutes. That's how I can wip out those locomotives pretty quick.

Also, get more pics of those HLCX locomotives. I know a guy that loves lease power, and the fact that that is a SD40....or would that be a SD40M-2? Those are rebuild SD45s that don't have there wings clipped yet.

Well I added a few more "painted" locomotive to ym roster.

WIN SD40 4000.

WIN SD40-2B 4200. The "Customer Service" locomotive.

WIN SD40-2 4201. This was an ex MILW unit. (Even though it doesn't say on the bottom, I'm saying it's ex MILW.)

WIN SD40-2 4205. this was the first Repainted ex UP SD40-2. This is also the only one that retains it's orginal nose bell.

These four locomotive swill be used on the transfers from Chicago stageing (East Stageing, it really doesn't start at chicago) and go to Random Lake/Minneapolis Stageing. (Again it really isn't Minneapolis, more like West stageing) From Minneapolis they will run up to Superior Stageing. (Again, not really Superior) Then they will make the long haul back to Chicago.

Yep CP is Detouring. This was the only train i got in Red Wing. Hey, atleast it had a SD40 leading!

Wikious, to tell the diffrent between a CP AC4400 and a ES44AC is to see if it has a Beaver on the side. If it has a Beaver, or Dual Flags it's most likely a AC4400. It if just has "Canadian Pacific" on the side it's an ES44AC. I Could go more in Depth about how to tell the difference between the two, but that's for Teen Railfan place. Sorry for dragging  railfanning in here. lol.

I realized I need to carry a camera on me anytime I go remotely near tracks! I got stopped by a Canadian Pacific train in town today, with some big engines- AC4400CW, maybe? I can't tell this type of engine from another, having grown up amongst just SD and GP 40's. This wouldn't be a big deal, except the only Class I railroad in town is Union Pacific! I guess CP is detouring through town due to the lovely flooding here in Wisconsin. I'm mad I had no camera, as I had front-row seats right at the gate! Guess I have to go railfanning tomorrow. Big Smile [:D]

Thanks, but I have a long way to go. Personaly, I never think my photos are good enough. It's eather cropping, or angle, and lighting. I never seem to enjoy my shots as much as I do with others.

I really appreciate the plan GG, but a 4x8 is not feasible for me. Takes up to much space. I think I'll be making room in my room for a small shelf layout:

Now for the piece-de-resistance: the big layout. dbl. decker, no helix (the lower level only interacts w/ the top level once [interchange]). Top level-Aiken-Darkwater line:

Lower level- Augusta & Southern's Augusta trackage

Sory I ain't posted in a while. I was at Furman University Football camp, and was so beat, I didn't want to check the forums. I won the long punt and long throw, and my team was the chamnpions. Welcome Brandon. BTW, railroadnut, I understand how your sister bugs you (I got two younger ones [and a little brother{I'm the oldest}])
