I'm justing wondering what RRP shells will fit on the UB and UC frames that would pop around in the 1970-198 era. I think B23-7s and B30-7s did, but for the C-C?

Vincent

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....

2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.

I value Athearns, as long as they have body coupler pockets. With a little weathering they look great.Thumbs Up [tup]

The clouds were made with a stencil for the top, I did freelance-style blend the each cloud (most were made with multiple stencils) together and add a little body to them.

Those clouds look good! Did you freelance them by hand, or did you have a stencil? Either way, they look great! Now when I get an airbrush, I will have many locos and cars to practice on. About a year ago, my nice LHS owner gave me several huge boxes of old Tyco and Athearn stuff. Now I have an infinate amount of cars to practice on, that I can throw away later. (It's not like they are worth anything lol)

I have a few F units that I have dead lined...old tycos that I made into dummies...and some GP9Ms...But I do have a good MILW A+B set that I don't know what to do with. Angry [:(!] I could get an airbrush and paint it in AC.

I wanted to paint some stuff I have laying around for BN, but I didn't bother and sold it. The local train club has a bunch of athearn BB stuff they are trying to sell (Katy SD40, D&H U33C and U30C, Milwuakkee U25B, NYC F7AB, BN U28B), thinking of getting RPP shells and making a few good units for BN, since most of those units are widebodies.

I'm thinking of getting rid of the atlas GP40 I have, updating it to look good now would be a pain.

Yup! That U23B is the most used loco on the roster. (so far, that may change once I get my GP9M back; it's a Walthers Trainline, so it's not as well running, but it'll be in my railroad's colors, so that might not make much of a differance!Smile [:)] And when/if I get a Spectrum SD45 in WRS colors, that will probably become my favorite.)

RailfanAlex: I have an airbrush, but I don't have the guts to take it out on my equipment... just the clouds... (they're in the background of this shot.) Isn't that U23B your favorite loco? I'm hoping to get my hands on a U25B pretty soon.

Nice! That's one more investment I really need to get my layout and roster going, an airbrush.

I'm thinking of getting this, but I don't know yet. Some of my friends say to stay away from double action stuff, but I read it can be operated as a single:

I have two Atlas locos; a Chessie System U23B, and a UP SDP35. The U23B will be repainted for the WRS, and the SDP35 will be patched for the WRS.

I'd like to get a BN SD45 and patch plus renumber it to WC 6660; the last Green Weenie that was left in Cascade green on the WC. BN/WC 6660 lasted until early 1996, until she got repainted and renumbered to 6497 and later rebuilt with the EM2000 control to 7497. Originally BN 6660 was SLSF (Frisco) 911. Big Smile [:D]

But right now I need to concentrate my funds to other locomotives I need.

I have 1 atlas, an older DRGW GP40 that runs suprisingly well for something from around the 70s. (Has a huge can motor too)

Other than that, I have 5 Bachman FTs (ABA, AB), 1 athearn GP35 dummy (Someone I know is giving me parts from an athearn BB to make it powered), and about 8 P2Ks (2 each SD9, GP9, GP30, U28B; hoping to get SD45s, the U-boats don't pull that well (they pull pretty good, but not alot; like everything else[the GP30s have gone up a helix with a 2% grade, and a 24" radius with 50 cars; most over weight]).

Very true that. My 3 working locos (my b-man F7 died) are all Atlas.

Wow I haven't posted here for ages... Not much new in model land, besides saving up for top secret locomotives... Ok, it's not top secret. Just a blueline cab forward and a BLI GS-4 daylight. GO ESPEE!

On the other side of things, I finally got myself a new bass drum head after making a huge hole in it... Whoops.

Something like that on EMD's,

Here is a diagram (still hard to tell, but you get the idea):

Type in "Lift Rings" on the Walthers site. I know some one sells them. As for pilot details it's the same. You can get the couple lift bars from Details West (I think) or maybe it was Detail Associates or Diesel Details. The Proto-typical couple lift bars that are on the locomotives (That Curve out to the Coupler. They are on most locomotives today) are fairly expensive and only come in a pack of two (I think), but you can but the less proto-typical straight coupler lift bar for less, and have more in a packet.

For the lift rings, I think the placement was pretty much standard. Here's a quick diagram

*          *              *        *      *
O   o   O       *  O            H     HHHH*
*          *              *     *         *

Very Crude Diagram.  The "O" are the fans and the "DB", the "H" is the Turbo Charger, and the "HHHH" is the Inertial Air Filter housing.

I'm thinking of upgrading my new athearn GP35.

Planning on adding the following:

fans and fan grills (the fan blades over the DB is missing)

MU cables (has the rack, just needs the cables)

A fire cracker antenna

Lift rings (need a guide for placement)

The pilot details (coupler cut lever, anti-clibber etc.)

Interior

Drop steps, and MU boxes. (I think I might have some MU boxes left over from my GP9s)

I know I could get the Cables and antenna from details west and the interior from Kato, as for the fans, pilot detail and lift rings, I don't know. But I actually have the right horn for the unit. (3-chime with a stand, goes near the radiator fans)

I can't find a good picture of BN 2507 (my athearn model), but judging from photos BN 2500-2507 are pretty close

I think I got bitten by the loco buying bug! I bought one that I'm not quite done repainting, and I've got another on the way and yet another I'm eyeing- all of which will need repainting and custom decals. I still need to get a display case or something for them.

i just bought 4 locomotives all in SP colours:

An AC6000 (bloody nose speed lettering)

A SD40 (SP kodachrome) and 45 (Bloody nose)

and a GP40X with elephant ears (bloody nose)

now im going to have 21 locomotives alltogether

Wow, 21 is alot of locomotives. Do you have pictures of your models? I'd love to see them.

Alex, sorry, forgot we have some people from other countrys. My apologizes.

Photo Story, well my Missabe Slide show, that I made on WMM. I liked my Photo Story one, it fit the whole song, and the slides where longer. But it was the wrong format, now that I have the video converter I could convert it, but I already have my Missabe Slide show on Youtube. My Next trip up there I'll use photo story. Now all I have to do is get a free DVD converter so i can Down Load my home made DVDs. I have some nice "film" on there, well sorta, my dad needs to work on taping. But my next trip I'll use the tri-pod.
